Fantastic experience: Lovely dentist I seen today for a filling, explained everything she was doing and very polite. Amy the dental nurse was also lovely
Negative experience: I was with GK Dental for years, always turned up for appointments and always paid for them , I was there last July for 2 appointments costing over £200 and was given an appointment for a check up for July this year, however in June I received a letter from them that I was removed from there register for breach of trust??!! Whatever that means with a dentist! I phoned for an explanation was told I would receive a phone call back this never happened, phoned again, same again told I would get a call back never did, sent 2 emails no reply!
Fantastic experience: I travelled up from Alnwick, Northumberland to Hawick for my dental treatment and I must say the young lady dentist that carried out my treatment (2 fillings) was the most gentle dentist I have ever seen in my 66 years She was amazing. I would highly recommend this practice. Thank you

Negative experience: My hunches were right. Arrived for my first appointment on time. The clinic was shut. I waited outside, and saw the dentists walk to the clinic from the Greggs next door where they were eating prior. Waiting in the waiting room, the reception staff at the time appeared to be youngsters/teenage boys on their computers laughing at something. Not at all professional. Dentist seemed okay, but when I asked about a hygienist appointment, of course he directed to the most expensive hygiene service. Real shame that this clinic can somehow seem to prosper despite a real shoddy service from beginning to end. Seemed to be a one in, one out, service with no personal attention to detail. I write this review for two reasons. Firstly in an attempt to save someone from a similar experience, and secondly for the dentists to read and improve their practise. Seems that because there are so few dentists in the area, an unacceptable service is becoming acceptable to us, the public. We are limited in choice, so accept a poor service. The only way we can stop such practices, is to buoycott them. Hit them in the pocket, so they have to work hard to deserve the money we hand over. Avoid this outfit. Oh, and you will notice that the reviewers who have reviewed this outfit favourably are very new to leaving Google reviews, which, in my opinion, leaves some doubt at to the veracity of not only the positive reviews, but the reviewers. Travel. Go further afield. Find a better dentist. You deserve it.

We couldn’t find any record of your appointments based on the initials provided, and it appears we haven’t received any direct contact from you to discuss these concerns, which makes it challenging to understand the context of your experience.

We’d like to address your comment about the practice being closed on your arrival and our dentist being seen ‘walking from Greggs’. Our practice is closed for lunch between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, during which time our staff are welcome to take a break or enjoy a meal, as this is outside working hours. Staff are fully committed during operational times, and the practice remains closed to patients until 2:00 PM even if they arrive during lunch hour. Patients arriving outside regular opening hours are always welcomed in early and informed that staff will assist them shortly once the practice officially reopens.
We note your reference to staff laughing with what you describe as ‘teenage boys’ or ‘young receptionists’. It’s possible you may be alluding to our practice of welcoming patients early before official opening times. If so, we wonder if you might be implying that our team should refrain from enjoying themselves outside of working hours?
We do not discriminate on who we hire regardless of age. Although, we don’t employ any teenagers, we would like clarification on this point you have raised.
As for the remark about the authenticity of our Google reviews, we believe our reviews speak for themselves.

Negative experience: I have booked an appointment under NHS and i clearly mentioned to the person i don't want any private services if you have call records you can probably listen my calls ! In my previous visit to your clinic i have been told by the doctor that metal filling will cost you £38 for each tooth and the other one which is long lasting one will cost you £138 for each tooth. Then i told him i am ok with metal one which is £38 for each tooth then he referred me to reception and the Indian guy on reception said you can pay £50 now and rest £26 you can pay on your next visit. Now when i drove all the way from Carlisle to Hawick just to get it done my fillings in cheap price and once done then this receptionist guy asking for £300 and said to me " They have done in Private" and you need to pay now...which sounds Dodgy to me ! He supposed to take patient's consent prior to get it done and should must inform either way that we have to do it private or we can't do it on NHS etc. Insisting me to pay rest of the amount which was terrible situation for me. Did i asked once to do it in private if you can't facilitate under NHS ??? This is completely unacceptable and i will definitely report this to NHS and relevant authorities in order to stop Harassment to the patients and take necessary action ASAP

The NHS fees are published online and available to view for everyone.
Our practice reserves the right to request deposits to secure appointments, which aligns with the NHS guidelines. We are uncertain about your reference to an “Indian gentleman,” as no individual of ‘Indian’ ethnicity is employed at our practice in reception, and we are unclear about the implication of this statement. Our reception staff are responsible for collecting payments for treatments provided on the day. As you received composite white fillings, the full payment for this private treatment was requested accordingly.
We fully support patients’ rights to report any concerns about conduct they perceive as inappropriate or non-compliant with regulations. Should you wish to pursue a formal complaint, we can provide our complaints policy upon request. We believe our actions were appropriate; however, if a miscommunication occurred, we would have been pleased to address it promptly to avoid escalation. Furthermore, we regret that your emails, which were perceived as intimidating by our staff, do not align with our practice policies, and we would advise for you to seek NHS care elsewhere as we do not believe we can fulfil your expectations.

Negative experience: I must say I had quite high hopes for today's visit after reading the extremely high reviews. Wow what a disappointment. Lovely reception staff but seemed very disorganised but it was busy. The dentist basically told me I couldn't get a white filling on the NHS? Must be a new thing. That my only option was to pay private prices. Well that was a wasted 70 min drive. I suppose if you can't find anywhere else, go here but I wouldn't rely on the positive reviews. I'm going elsewhere.

The treatment you requested for was not available on the NHS and you were informed of this, You are still entitled to NHS treatment if you do not wish to pursue private treatment.
Furthermore, our practice strongly adheres to NHS guidelines and regulations and therefore, we are unable to perform private treatments on the NHS or do anything that breaks the NHS terms.
The treatments available on the NHS is available on the NHS website and has not changed.

Negative experience: Happy with my first visit and actually did a positive review and glad that other people have had relatively positive experiences. However, just deleted it due to further experiences including cancellation of my appointment by someone who I maintain, does not have sufficient command of the English language, having travelled 75 minutes and the fact that the hygienist and dentist are one of the same added to confusion. Requesting my fee of £50 for wasting my time due to their incompetence apparently does not fall within their policy and also they didn't like the tone of my e-mail of complaint. Result - I have to find another dentist as they feel they can't deliver to my expectations!!! As we know it is impossible to find any NHS dentists. You would think that cancelling the hygienist portion of my appointment and to continue with my filling treatment would be a relatively straight forward process. How wrong am I ! Have decided to go private. Oh Yes Google this practice - makes very interesting reading on other review sites.

However, we noted that the tone of your email included a racial stereotype against our staff among other things, which is not aligned with our policies. Fantastic experience: I’ve had 4 appointments with the Dental Hygienist Mr Thelakadan. He is the most considerate, gentle man when having therapy which can be sore or uncomfortable. He is patient and actually cares if your in discomfort, going out of his way to explain what he’s doing and why.

Negative experience: Didn't get off to a good start as it was closed when we arrived. On entering, another customer was complaining that her son had had his tooth extracted and was sent away without painkillers and couldn't eat for days. The very young dentist was cold, abrupt and unfriendly. Not even a hello. I gagged on the X-Ray and he seemed angry about that. He gave me a clean which only lasted a minute or so (and cost £16) and my clothes were covered in water afterwards. An all-round unpleasant experience. My partner had a similar thirty-second clean and wasn't invited to spit out the water afterwards so had to swallow it. My daughter found the dentist very intimidating; he didn't speak a word to her and was very cold. We won't be returning or recommending it to others. We have for years been used to the warm and lovely Mark Learmouth in Berwick so this was quite a shock. The two girls on reception were nice, though.

Negative experience: 6 weeks to get an appointment after a filling came out. Had to wait 30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. Spent 2 minutes with the dentist who just stuffed a temporary filling in there and told me I need to book a new appointment to get a filling. Yeah... literally what I booked this one for. Not great.

I’ve been to them a number of times, however this last time i went with an awful toothache, which turned out to be a broken wisdom tooth that needed to come out. Fantastic experience: This was such an unreal experience that I feel I have to share it here. Earlier in the day I chipped a rear tooth. It is one I have been having problems with over many years so I decided to get it extracted and put in another at a later date. I typically have a good set of teeth! I approached the front desk and told the receptionist I wanted an extraction and she looked on her computer and said "our next available appointment is in 4 minutes". I was stunned. I was in the dentist chair within 6 minutes and said he could do the extraction immediately. The dentist immediately delivered an anaesthetic and within then next 5 minutes the tooth was fully, and professionally extracted. A few minutes of advice and care and follow up ideas after and I was out. At a total cost of £33.00. Just a mindblowing experience that I was able to walk in and out of a dentist in 18 minutes and have the exact operation I wanted done. No fuss, no overcharging, extremely clean and pleasant. Positive experience: Dentist was great nice clean practice polite staff. However just be aware late cancellation fee for NHS patients for check up is £46... when a check up only costs £27. Just something to be aware of

Fantastic experience: I had my 1st visit to GKDental Harwick as an new NHS patient. I inquired via email. The practice then rang and we arranged an appointment all within 1 week. The surgery was very easy to find. Lovely, friendly, helpful and welcoming receptionists. The reception area and dental surgery rooms are bright and modern. The dental nurses and the dentist himself were exceptional. I highly recommend GKDental Harwick, hence the 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Nothing but praise for the service, speed of appointments and communication. So far had initial appoinent. A clean and sadly an extraction which I wasn't looking forward to having. I am a nervous patient. I made them aware and they made sure I was OK through each stage and offered extra jabs or nbing spray to help. To be honest the extraction was a breeze. Impressed so far.
Fantastic experience: GK has amazing dentists who are vibrant, thorough and uses their expertize with zestful enthusiasm. This is over and above normal expectations one could wish for. My mouth is well looked after which gives me peace of mind. There are some horror stories out there! Whether it's something challenging they will offer excellent solutions for, or something simple like teeth cleaning which is done with dead accuracy and never a twinge you can trust a good job will be done../ The business covers NHS and private which is interesting. They always seem up to date with techniques and everyone there is extremely pleasant from receptionists to Dental assistants./ The place is easily accessable in Hawick town High Street and is clean, modern and inviting. Cant say enough about its attributes.That is my experience.

Fantastic experience: Very good made you feel relax the staff are very helpful. the treatment was excellent the whole place is very clean from the toilet to the waiting room to the treatment rooms. And the best thing of all it is taking NHS patients on. Not many Dentists are taking NHS patients. They are also very flexible with appointment times abd dates they also give Saturday and Sunday appointments. Must admit the service I have received is excellent

Fantastic experience: From opening the door, to the greeting from reception, my experience was perfect. Lovely dentist Peter had perfectly calm reassuring manner. 1st time ever I've had xrays without having hard plates jammed into my gums. I am very happy to be a new pt of this practice even though I live in Penrith. Worth a day trip out a couple of times per year. I believe there is a bus service from Carlisle and the dental surgery is on the high street next to all the shops.

Negative experience: We joined GK Dental when we moved back to hawick, despite hearing a couple of negative reviews we continued to stay with them. My daughter was referred to get braces about a year ago, I have phoned GK Dental 3 times now in the past month asking what's happening and if there is any update and all 3 times ive been told "we will have to get back to you" Today I found out that she may have been refered to the orthodontist in Gala, so I was advised to phone them (from another dentist), which i did to only find out that she had only just been referred 26 days ago! Thankfully the Orthodontist has placed her on a cancellation list! Not only that, I went to get treatment done too, only to find out they hadn't actually do the whole process, even though they said it was complete and successful! I then had an appointment booked, which I phoned to cancel (due to work commitments) to then find out that it wasn't cancelled on their end and they demanded i pay £27 for the missed appointment! Absolute joke. Ive also lost count on how many times in the past couple of years they have phoned me to cancel and rearrange appointments too, but they dont always rearrange them, they just said they would phone to rearrange, but dont!

Negative experience: Don't know why they felt the need to replace a perfectly good filling with an new one considering I didn't ask them to do it, Good having NHS dentist, Not good that they did unnecessary work in my mouth when the old filling was perfectly ok other than the colour and age, Have to say that considering I don't like any dental procedures I feel it was totally unnecessary work just to benefit them changing the NHS Otherwise my teeth are fine, come back next year. The should have explained it to me in the first place and I would have said NO leave it alone!
