Negative experience: We had two child check-ups booked for 15 minutes each. We were kept waiting for the full 30 minutes with no apology or update on the waiting times. The dentist said that the previous patient turned up late. What is the point of scheduling appointment times if you are going to still accommodate late attendees? Is it right to affect the appointment times of the patients who turn up on time? There should be respect for other peoples time as they could have scheduled time out of their work diary to attend, The practice would be happy to charge the patient for late cancellations or failure to attend but it seems its ok for the practice to inconvenience the patient. When the two children were eventually seen after the full 30 minutes of their appointment time was taken up by the previous patient - it only took 1 minute each to carry out the check up. I feel that the full 30 minutes of the children's appointment time was used up knowing that the children's appointments will only take a few minutes. A 5-10 minute delay acceptable but a 30 minute is not. Please have respect for other peoples time.

Fantastic experience: I went in this week for a tooth extraction, Dr Amy and the dental nurse were amazing. Not only did I feel calm but I didn’t feel a thing! I recommend Southgate Smiles especially as a family dentist for those who have young children

Positive experience: Friendly staff, seen promptly and good care given apart from not receiving a clean and polish which is only carried out 'if needed'. One would have thought cleaning is always needed given any length of time between appointments. This used to be given as standard during routine check-ups but we are now placed in the awkward position of having to ask.

Very skilled and professional, good comms and admin, no pressure to take (for example) expensive private "treatment" for cosmetic reasons only. Dentist for me is NHS, hygienist private; latter not cheap but affordable even as a pensioner - and worth it!

Fantastic experience: Over the past few years I have been treated by four dentists and two hygienists at this practice and I have been impressed with every one of them. Each practitioner has taken time to explain any proposed treatment along with costs involved so that I could make an informed decision. At no time have I felt pressured nor have I felt that a treatment is suggested unless it is considered to be absolutely necessary for my dental health. There is always a friendly welcome by the receptionist and by the dental practitioner and the level of professionalism is excellent. Thank you everyone.

They were so skilfull in their treatment and monitoring to avoid future problems. I always get appointments and they go out of their way to help you in an emergency. Fantastic experience: **Amazing!** I have been going to Smiles for years and always been highly satisfied. However recently I have had a very touching experience. I had been using another practice for Hygienist services every 4months (Smiles do offer Hygienists, however I had stuck with the other place out of routine following the covid times). Despite those regular visits, none had raised any issues. In Aug24, I saw Janika for my routine dental check up. She immediately raised a concern and referred me for hospital investigations. I was perplexed as the previous hygienists had not mentioned anything. Janika was so empathetic and sensing my grave fears she supported me in trying to obtain a faster referral. I really felt her care. Smiles receptionist Karen also offered me great empathy and accommodated me with appointments even when they were very busy. It is now February 25, and I have been fortunate to receive the all clear from the hospital investigations. I now realise that regular dental check ups are vital! Not just for teeth, but also for early detection of other diseases that would otherwise go unnoticed. If you cannot get an NHS appointment please do book a private check up. It could be life saving. Smiles also offer Invisalign, Whitening and Implants. The team are exceptionally competent and caring. I cannot recommend them enough!! Please go!

Fantastic experience: I recently registered my two children and myself with this practice in July 2024. The initial appointments for the three of us with Abita Nanthakumar have been brilliant. She is very knowledgeable, professional, attentive to detail, calm and caring. She identified a large cavity in my case that was missed by previous dentists I have seen in the previous year and arranged treatment to be carried out on the same week. She also referred me for a consultation with an orthodontist. My son also had a tooth extraction with her, which went well. The receptionists are nice, caring and efficient.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service from their dentist, Janika, who fixed a tooth that had split vertically and one piece had fallen away. It was tricky to resolve and work could have been all for nothing. Great skill on her part to solve the problem. I have just returned for a check up after several months and the filling is doing well. The dental hygenist that I saw is also excellent.
