Fantastic experience: I was extremely nervous and anxious about having my wisdom tooth extracted. I really got my self into a bit of a, state over it. RAFIK was absolutely amazing. He talked me through the whole process and reassured me all the way. He was so gentle despite it being an extremely difficult tooth to extract. Through the whole process he checked how I was doing. I was extremely impressed by his kindness and expertise. What a brilliant doctor of dentistry x highly recommend RAFIK.

Negative experience: Managed to get an NHS check up very quickly but it all went downhill after that. I had a broken tooth I had been suffering with for quite some time which they advised needed a root canal and I would be referred on the NHS because of its complexity. I returned the following day for a hygiene appointment in excruciating pain and in tears with my broken tooth and asked for pain relief which they refused to prescribe (as did my GP as they don't deal with dental issues). I'm an A&E nurse so I know that dentists have a licence to prescribe certain analgesia and I was already taking all the over the counter meds I could - this resulted in me making an unnecessary A&E attendance just to get pain relief. They reassured me that they would squeeze me in for the root canal on 14th Nov. Several days later I couldn't cope with the pain anymore and hadn't slept for a week, so I contacted them again, to be informed there was no appointment on 14th November and I had to pay privately to have it removed as they couldn't fit me in as an NHS patient. Then over the following days I had two voicemails asking me to come in privately paying a minimum of £850 for the root canal, one of these voicemails states there were no NHS appointments, one said they could do a referral. I politely rang them back to remind them that they had already removed the tooth by this point. To add insult to injury, since the extraction, one of my adjacent teeth now has a crack in it which is also causing me pain but i have absolutely no means to fund another extraction or repair. Overall, I have had a very poor experience and I feel they are taking advantage of people's suffering.
Negative experience: I have been in hospital for the past five months battling cancer, I told the houston group thos many times and now they have charged me a £100 fine, I am still in hospital and only have 14 days to pay it

Negative experience: I booked my appointment a day a before, they called me 4 times in the morning asking for me to come in earlier so they can go home earlier but I was asleep. I went into my appointment with an issue with a tooth growing in and wanting to straighten my teeth a bit. I went in and could feel it was off as I didn’t answer the phone but it was my already scheduled appointment, the Denist didn’t talk about my tooth growing in and said I would have to see a specialist to talk about straightening which is okay, I was then told I should go for the expensive clean as I needed it but I couldn’t afford that on top of what I would have to pay to straighten my teeth so I declined and wanted a normal clean which was included in the price which she decided not to finish even though I said I was alright the whole time. Then when we were finished I got up to say bye and smile at the two Denist’s and they were both facing the other way. It was an unpleasant and unfriendly interaction. I was told I would get a call from the specialist but haven’t heard anything, I’m not sure if the dentist even put through what I needed so while waiting for the call I’ve found a much more affordable, friendly and efficient alternative. I don’t recommend Houstons to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Really impressed! I only phoned Monday and was given an appointment next day Tuesday morning i have Hannah Thomas as mine she’s fabulous her assistant is also fantastic i got my check up and xray done Tuesday then re booked the next day again Wednesday in for several teeth sealed, really impressed quick and efficient and explained everything and i actually felt really relaxed. Everyone i met was very friendly with an obvious upbeat attitude all around, I cannot fault a thing and very impressed Thank you again for a great experience

Fantastic experience: I've had several procedures with Dr.Hashim over the past few months since joining Houstons, and they've all gone really smoothly and pain free. Always greeted with a friendly face, and everything is explained well in terms of what is happening with your teeth, any procedures you need, and any costs. It's also really easy to get an appointment that fits around you. Every member of staff is helpful and polite, from receptionist to dental assistant. Dr.Hashim is a great dental therapist, with a friendly and gentle manner. He is an absolute credit to the Houstons team. Being someone that was always terrified of the dentist before joining Houstons, I now go into appointments no longer feeling like a anxious wreck. I feel like I've always been in a safe pair of hands with him, and I can't thank him enough for all of his care with sorting my smile out these last few months

Fantastic experience: I attended Houstons Dentist in Weston-super-Mare. I was seen by Dr Bosy Matthews and her assistant Aji. I wanted to share the incredibly good service I received from both. Dr Bosy was very professional, upfront and honest. Throughout the consultation she shared the scans, took extra x-rays when needed to get a more clear insight into what the right treatment pathway was for my teeth (she was trying to go for the least invasive which I very much appreciated). They were also very accommodating. When I explained I was going away and so needed to fit in my filling before I left, Dr Bosy scheduled me into her lunch break so I can be treated before I left, rather than having to wait a few weeks without treatment. I was both surprised and very grateful that they offered to do this for me. It speaks to the high level of patient care they have. I wanted to convey my sincere thanks for the excellent service I received and so decided to leave this review. I should note I am an NHS patient too, not a private one. So this extra care was not motivated by money at all. Just genuine kind people who offer excellent service, going above and beyond!

Fantastic experience: After 20 years of being a patient, I had to use another dentist when they were in transition a while ago. On the off chance I called in as was allowed to re-register. Today I had a fairly substantial clean and some surface fillings. My treatment by Hannah and her assistant was nothing short of extraordinary, she was so gentle and had the patience of a saint. I'm so glad to be back in the loop. The practice manager and the three different receptionists I spoke to were helpful and pleasant. Five stars all round from me.

Negative experience: Conning clients into thinking you can sign up to be an NHS patients with the promise of NHS check ups but any work they do is private pricing as they have no NHS dentist available to treat people. As all other dentist in Weston-super-Mare have closed the door to NHS patients.
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that you were registered as an NHS patient and seen under the care of a qualified dental therapist. As explained at the time, if treatment is required that falls outside the therapist’s NHS scope of practice, patients may need referral to a private clinician, as our NHS dentists are currently at full capacity.
Our practice has continued to offer NHS access with dental therapists in order to support the local community, given how difficult it is for many people in Weston-super-Mare to find an NHS dentist. We are committed to being transparent about this process and to providing the best care possible within the resources available.

Negative experience: Receptionist lovely . 18/6 just had appointment for a emergency after years of anxiety and lack of appointments to see Dr Ali . Not nice at all. Attitude very off and uncaring . Not friendly . Previously had Dr Cantwell who was excellent . 55 pound to tell me I have a hole and only option have it out no care or help to temporarily help me . Sat in car crying .

Fantastic experience: On meeting Mr Mistry my dentist l was put at ease straight away, l communicated what l wanted to archive and this was a new denture, Mr Mistry listened to me and was able to give me a vision of what was possible, l had four appointments put into place and we worked through the process step by step of making my new denture. The service was excellent and now on the fourth appointment l have received my denture, it's a great fit, the completion time was just as he said, the quality of the denture lovely, treatment was great! I also had an emergency appointment with Mr Mistry with two loose teeth and one that had broken tooth, Mr Mistry took one tooth out and treated the other two, excellent service as usual. Fantastic experience: My first ‘private’ visit with Rafik was excellent. I filled in forms prior to the visit, using their ‘portal’ - easy. My appointment started at the time specified, and I was very pleased with the service of Rafik and Laura. Rafik spent some time going over some of the medical questions and discussing my reason for choosing Houston. This certainly put me at ease, and built rapport, before they examined and recorded the state of my teeth. Two X-Rays were taken, and then analysed, before providing a ‘clean bill of dental health’. Negative experience: Changed from this dentist to dental quest.Filled a form in to have my records sent to my new dentist 4 weeks later they have still not receieved my dental records ? I went into houstons filled form in so it would be quicker.still not done .wouldn't recommend this dentist.no customer service .

Positive experience: Great service provided by Rafik Mikhaiel and his assistant. Lots of appointment slots are available and very efficient service. Seem to be slightly more expensive than others on first impressions hence 4 star rating. Rafik was sure not to pressure me into treatment, which is always reassuring.

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr John Cantwell at Weston-super-Mare for a few years now. Before seeing Dr Cantwell I had a really bad dental phobia which ment I avoided them unless I was in a lot of pain. Which left me with lots of dental issues. Dr Cantwell told me right at the start he doesn't do pain and even though my teeth have been really bad with a number of issues, he has always been positive about any treatment I need. I have honestly have not had any pain at all once the numbing injection is done Dr Cantwell has pulled out some of my teeth, fixed up my broken ones and cleaned them right up. He has also seen me really quickly if I have an emergency. It's always a pleasure to see him and I have no more phobia of dental work. Dr Cantwell also sees the rest of my family and is brilliant with them all. I cannot express how very grateful I am to Dr Cantwell and all he has done for my teeth and my self esteem! Thank you. Negative experience: Do not expect a warm welcome here; you will be disappointed. The star is for my dentist who is absolutely brilliant but is badly let down by the supporting staff... The receptionists and nurses are - to be polite - frosty. Also for at least the last 3 times I've paid (and who knows how many times before that) the correct discount for my dental plan has not been applied. I will continue to use this practice but if my dentist ever leaves I will be straight out the door behind him.

Negative experience: Couldn’t pay me to ever go back there. Had X ray for a filling in my tooth booked an appointment to have it done. Had it all done and got home once the anaesthetic worth off had realised one of the very untrained dentists they like to hire has drilled out the wrong tooth and left the tooth that actually needed doing. AVOID!

Fantastic experience: I saw Rafik for a surgical extraction. He was amazing. So friendly and really helped with my nerves. He was patient and explained everything really well. I had to have the stitches removed a week later and Rafik came in on his day off to be available to do my review. I cannot fault him or my experience.

Negative experience: I started off with Houston Nailsea a few years ago. Only to go for an appointment, sit and wait, and then be told they had no dentist. I then moved to Houston Clevedon, where I've attended 2 appointments, and they have cancelled 2 appointments. So I have not seen a dentist for 2 yrs. As Clevedon also have no NHS dentist and I was told it could be 2yrs before they get one. I lost the side of a tooth a few months ago, so after trying to get on various local dentists lists, but learnt there is a 2 Yr wait, I phoned Houston Clevedon, explained my problem and was told Houston Weston would be able to see me. Today was my appointment. I drove to Weston, didn't know Houston had several separate buildings, so went in one, they couldn't find my appointment on screen, went in another building, they found me and sent me to yet another building, where they had me on screen. I was then presented with a tablet to fill in all my information. I was told by Clevedon that all my information would be forwarded to Weston, ready for my appointment. I left without having my appointment, saying what a shambles the whole organisation is. Whatever happened to helping the patient and making them feel relaxed. I felt that I had continuously been messed around for years, by them. I have no faith the practice.

Negative experience: We have been using Houston’s for many years but unfortunately their standards have seriously declined. The reception staff are so rude and no one takes responsibility or can help with simple requests. I have been unable to get a response from the practice manager for over 4 months to a complaint regarding my daughter’s treatment. I have emailed, called and visited in person but no one is ever free to speak to me. Shocking way to treat people but I guess they don’t care, it’s more about making money. Edit. After posting this review I finally received a call from the practice offering me a refund on the terrible service we received. I still haven’t received the refund from the treatment 6 months ago. No one answers the phone and if you’re lucky to get through all they do is offer to call you back. This never happens!! Terrible service

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling service I’ve been trying for days and days and days to get an appointment for a broken tuff and nobody has answered. I eventually had to go to another dental practice who were very good.

Negative experience: My mum had some dentures made at this dentist , she is 81and has since been told by another dentist that she can’t have them as there is just bone in her mouth . The dentist charged 1500 pounds and my mum is unable to wear them . They have taken advantage of my mother and I would not recommend this practice under any circumstances . Fantastic experience: Due to general health problems, it's been a nightmare with regard to my teeth plus being an extremely worrying time generally, but I should have had faith. Going back 12+ months I was put on the books of Dr Asgari and my world changed, what a delightful, friendly man he is. He has gone out of his way to make sure I'm seen when needed, that my problems are looked after with care and my mind was definitely put at rest. It's been a long road for both of us, but we got there. I can't thank him enough for the time spent and the patience shown. Fantastic experience: I have been been going to Houstons for over a decade now. And for last good few years dr Vadher was looking after me and my teeth. He is the best dentist I have ever came across. If not him I probably would have denture by age of 40. I could not recommend dr Vadher enough. Fantastic experience: Broke a tooth over weekend. Phoned Monday morning and Steve, on reception, couldn't have been more helpful. Offered appointment in January that was a disappointment, but said he was doing calls to confirm other patients appointments and if any cancellations would call me. Within an hour he called back with an appointment for today(Tuesday) at 9.30am. Just back from treatment and Dr. Namun couldn't have been better. Explained situation well. Things seem to be improving on this experience. Well done.

Fantastic experience: I lost the repair to my front tooth so popped in to the surgery on Wednesday to ask for an appointment. I stressed it wasn't urgent. The practice manager was in reception and she couldn't have been more helpful. I was offered an appointment the next day at 4.30pm with Sonu Sabu. A delightful lady who with assistance from her dental nurse fixed the problem with the application of a perfectly matched colour filling. Advised not to use the front teeth for biting as such finite repairs are delicate. Very pleased with the final result. Thank you to all involved.

Negative experience: Been with Houston’s as a NHS patient since my kids started school, both are now adults and run their own businesses. Been waiting to see a dentist for two years now since my dentist left and Houston’s haven’t found their replacement yet. My wife and children still have a dentist (at Houston’s) and have their yearly checkups and treatments, if needed. Sadly, when asked, Houston's said they can't put me with the same NHS dentist as my family, not even for a checkup! When I said that I’ll have to go and see a private dentist, for a checkup, they said that they could book me in the following day! I get the feeling that they only want the money and not so interested in patient welfare.

Thank you for your feedback. I have tried to contact you this morning to discuss in detail what has occurred for you.
We are experiencing a shortage of NHS dentists which is causing access issues for our NHS patients. As a practice, we are working continually hard to recruit more NHS dentists to help with these access problems. This is a direct result of the issues with the NHS contract and has caused an acute national shortage of NHS dentists nationwide.
There are no shortages within the private sector unlike the acute shortages within the NHS. Therefore, Private dentists do have more availability and are able to see you much sooner that what an NHS dentist can. This is not something the practice has put in place this is down to the acute shortages of NHS dentists.
We are trying very hard to recruit and we have managed to successfully recruit a few more clinicians in the NHS sector. However, we are like every other practice and are experiencing NHS difficulties due to factors outside our control. As a practice, we are working very hard and are grateful that we have been able to maintain a service for our NHS patients despite all the additional pressures the service has faced. Many other practices have stopped seeing NHS patients all together.

Negative experience: What a mess, practise manager requires further training and should support the staff on the front desk instead of hiding behind hers, trying to over charge on treatment. Refund required had to fill out a form and told to wait a couple of weeks, her reply was ‘this isn’t retail’. Hygienist level of service was awful, complained and told not to pay, went back for second treatment weeks later and told I had outstanding fees for hygienist?? Practice manager saying she couldn’t remember, such a shame they use to provide a good service.
Fantastic experience: Spoke with Michelle on reception today. She was amazing, so helpful, kind and personable (as others have not been) and understanding to our needs as a family. We had an unexpected dentist change and she made it so seamless and stress-free today. All future appointments booked! Thank you so much, especially for getting the treatment for our child sorted as it was postponed for whatever reason. Fantastic experience: My family and I have been coming here for many years and today my wife went in AGAIN to book an appointment for us and the kids but we were told our NHS dentist still hasn't been replaced. She spoke to Michelle who gave us loads of information on how to access private dental treatment. We were told why there is a problem with NHS dentists, about dental plans and finance options offered at Houstons. Every other practice we spoke to today didn't care, they gave us no explanation or solution and just palmed us off some even laughed when we asked if they were taking on NHS. Thank you for your help.

Fantastic experience: I had a hygienist appointment, with jet polish, today with Dr Hashim. I have been having the same appointment every 6 months for a while now. In that time I have been seen by several hygienists (/ dentists?). It is usually a very painful process, which I dread. I usually have numbing gel applied. On my last visit I had several injections of local anaesthetic but still found the process painful. The hygienists who I have had previously were very nice people and I have nothing negative to say about them. However, I have to the say that the patient care I received from Dr Hashim today was next level; gold standard! When I entered the room I sat on the procedure bed and he sat on the chair. I had a few questions and he’s demeanour was so relaxed, that in turn he made me feel relaxed. I didn’t feel like I had to rush or that I was being a nuisance for asking questions. He offered me excellent advice. When I lay down on the bed, he took the time to allow me to hold a mirror, so that he could explain the answers to my questions better and help me to understand what it is I need to be doing when taking care of my teeth and gums. When he thought I couldn’t see clearly for a moment, he asked me if I would like him to get my glasses for me. I found him to be very thoughtful and so polite. During the procedure we’d discussed and agreed that he would apply only a little numbing gel and we would see how I got on. The procedure was the most comfortable I’ve ever had. He was extremely gentle and I could tell he was doing his best to make sure I was ok. He asked me several times throughout if I was ok. I didn’t actually need numbing gel at all for my top teeth / gums, which I still can’t quite get over! I must say though, whilst I am leaving a review that my family and I have been visiting Dr Vadher for many years. They are now adults but he has always been such a fantastic dentist. He is especially good at making children feel at ease. My daughter used to be terrified of going to the dentist but he cured that. He's such a lovely doctor. So friendly and polite and offers great teaching and advise. People like Dr Hashim and Dr Vadher need to be recognised and praised. They're a credit to The Houston Group. As is the lovely receptionist in the Hygienist department :)

Fantastic experience: I have recently been having a very bad time with two molar teeth, one needing a filling and one needing an extraction. As a result of the constant pain these teeth have been putting me through I have been back and forth alot to the dentist. I have been seeing Dr. Asgari, who I had never seen before...nevertheless I had a very good feeling about him. He told me I had tooth decay to the nerve on both sides and that one needed a filling and the other needed extraction, so he rebooked me to have the filling and that tooth was sorted, but the other tooth needing extraction was very complicated and Dr. Asgari felt uncomfortable removing it because of the high risk of nerve damage, so he referred me to the hospital. He did all he could to help me with the pain while I waited for my appointment including killing the nerve to stop the pain, which worked very well for a few weeks, until I developed an abscess, so I was trying to get the hospital to see me sooner in desperate pain, with no luck. I went back to Dr Asgari, Who gave me some antibiotics and also sent a email to the hospital, and he told me that if they hadn't got back to me in another 2 weeks he would remove the tooth himself and take the risk, providing I was happy with it (I was), but on the same day I had a phone call from the hospital to come in 2 days, and have finally had the tooth removed. I want to thank Dr Asgari for everything he did for me while I was going through such pain and frustration with these teeth, and I also want to say thankyou to Chloe on the reception too for everything. I definitely recommend this dentist! Apologies for the story but thanks for listening. :)

Fantastic experience: Mersha Markland at Houston’s has performed a fabulous job with my dental treatment. I had extensive treatment for composite bonds and whitening and I am extremely pleased with the result. I have had so many lovely comments from people about my teeth. Fantastic experience: In September 2023 I had various appointments with the charming Dr Mershia Markland, working for The Houston Group in Weston. I had been told many times that I have “a difficult mouth” - surprisingly small and with a bite on only one place. All I knew was that my top front teeth were all wobbly and discoloured! I had been to Houston before, to Dr Brendan Behan, who was also great but too busy to fit me in on my visit from my home in Italy, and recommended coming to Weston. Anyway, my top teeth were indeed a mess, my mouth hurt and my self confidence suffered as a result. I could go on, but suffice to say Dr Markland was kindness itself, arranged an urgent preparation of my enormous top bridge, first the temporary and then the final and duly installed them, seamlessly resolving several setbacks along the way. I’m happily back in lake Como - after a trip to Oz to see my family - smiling confidently at who I please! I just wanted to give Dr Markland and indeed all the staff at Weston a big thank you for a job well done and compliment you on being such a professional team. Gail Burbidge

Negative experience: Prior to David Houston leaving this practice was a 5 star rating all the way....in every way. Since David left however, it it evident that the owners simply see this as a money generating venture. The place is looking shabby, the service is erratic, as is the quality of the dentists. David would turn in his grave if he saw the state of the place and how it's run!! Yesterday, I had possibly the worst visits to the hygenist in my life which follows on the back of my previous experience a few months ago with another hygenist, Maheen who provided one of the best visits ever. This pretty sums up the Houston Dental Practice. It's a bit of a lucky dip as to the quality of service and the outcomes. I am now looking, after 10 years of coming here for a new dental practice. Shame on the new owners.

your satisfaction. We take all feedback seriously. We will get the practice manager to call you on Monday to discuss this and to remedy this. Since Dr Houston left, buildings 172 and 164 have been completely refurbished. There has been substantial investment in all the other buildings and the carpark. Almost, all dental chairs have been changed and there has been huge investment in all dental equipment at the practice. The practice has seen substantial investment in all aspects in the last few years. Maheen, with whom you had a good experience, was also employed by us. We will be conducting a thorough investigation regarding your visit and we can assure you that appropriate steps will be taken.

Fantastic experience: Craig was welcoming and helpful. Booked me an appointment, not a check up and apologised for the appointment date, which I didn’t mind. He assured me that should my problem get worse not to hesitate calling and he would do his best to fit me in. Asked me lots of questions about my problem to give as much info to the dentist as possible.

Fantastic experience: Having had a turbulent time at dentists previously I can say my new dentist Alley was polite very helpful and made me leave with a positive hope of getting me pain free & able to regain eating properly by fixing bad dentures. The receptionist Craig was very helpful when sorting my next 4 appointments despite having a lot of people waiting made me feel I mattered, he was polite & unflustered. Good result.

Positive experience: My dentist Hemel is amazing so kind and explains everything he is doing and makes me feel at ease. One of the best dentist I have ever had. He is the only reason I stay at this dentist. His last receptionist was rude but now has a new one called Michelle and she is very professional, polite and listens to any concerns I have and explains everything she is doing. Both an asset to this dentist.

Negative experience: Appauling been here for years and paid for my cleans privately. But today I will never go back. Made nhs appointment months ago turned up on time ! Waited 25 minutes after a very unwelcome greeting. Went to ask why was I still waiting to be told the dentist refused to see me as I missed my appointment last year . Not true as the phones were not ringing so I had to call Clevedon and ask them to contact weston to cancel . I also sent an email . To cancel . I was booked for check up and clean today. When they told me this I expressed my disgust at the appauling service . I was unwell and no time to waste . Un friendly poor care treatment . Disgusting. Yet they say cancer can be caused by poor dentist care ! Flabbergasted.

Negative experience: Just awful used to be so good cancelled my appointment but no one called to tell me dentist has left told have to wait until they recruit a new dentist! Disgusting service. There follow up response : so can pay to go private as you can see a dentist pretty much immediately but they want to take a £50 deposit when you book the appointment the appointment is only £40! It’s a complete joke wouldn’t be surprised if they close when Mr & Mrs Houston owned it the service was fantastic the reception team were good now you’re lucky if anyone answers the phone! It’s like they want to be as difficult as possible in the hope your go somewhere else!
Dear Ms Streeter, I apologise your appointment has been postponed. I have reviewed your file and can see that you like many of our other patients have been affected by the loss of an NHS dentist at the practice. Our recruitment team are working incredibly hard to find a suitable replacement, however to date we are unable to offer you a permanent replacement NHS dentist to take over your routine care. Factors outside our control have impacted the recruitment of NHS dentists which is a nationwide problem with the NHS, this is affecting the entire UK. Today you spoke with our Deputy Practice Manager, who triaged your dental problem and has kindly offered you an appointment with another dentist. Please note our current NHS dentists are extremely busy and we are doing the best we can with the means we have available. We have a record of all patients that have been affected by a departing dentist and will be contacted when we can offer an NHS appointment.
Negative experience: Avoid , quite possibly the worst dental practice in the U.K. will cancel your appointment at ten mins notice , or wait for you to arrive and then tell you it’s cancelled , no one’s knows who’s in charge , reception staff who are rude unhelpful and will go out of there way to not help , will even tut if you ask a question , very good at taking payment for future appointments that will ALWAYS be cancelled , and won’t care when you complain An absolute disgrace of a business needs to closed or taken over as at present totally unfit for purpose , in truth a minus 100 star rating would be truthful I gather many staff have left in droves I would guess they are the lucky ones Update This dreadful excuse for a dentist practice had reached a new low My mother is now on her sixth attempt spread over two years to make new false teeth , every time they are incorrect and need to be remade The response from the practice “ that’s how it is “ complaints are ignored , I have now reported them, this practice needs investigating and sanctions put in place as I don’t think anyone who works there had any idea what they are doing , I would even question if they are qualified , I heard another patient call it carry on dentistry , very apt Further update After admitting the terrible service they provide they offered a refund , after completing a refund form , and being told it would be received in 3-5 days , six weeks later it has still not been received , tried calling everyday ( no answer as per ) went in and seen marianna who works in reception App you cannot contact head office ( lol ) and they will see what they can do Withholding a 85 year olds money , disgraceful ! Have reported them to trading standards , D0 NOT USE THIS COMPANY they lie and steal your money and are totally unfit for purpose Interesting that they only reply to positive reviews , and ignore the countless bad ones
Fantastic experience: Wow, hello everyone it took me 1year and 6months to get an appointment. But when l was attended by his assistant and DR DDU l was very pleased. The receptionist was assuring me that don't worry you will get an appointment. I would really love to thank the team for a very good communication skills, which l am always grateful for. My treatments went well as promised. Huston Dentist is the best best ever.Thank you to his Assessor Dr Jack for making this possible. I will always recommend people to go to Huston Dentist in Milton Road opposite the Park.l will give you a trillion feedback. It is a shame that The Dentist Dr W. DDU. ,will be leaving. Negative experience: If they call you, you better answer the phone because calling back is simply not an option. Goodness knows what their army of receptionists are up to (my boy thinks they’re all secret Fortnight players). I won’t bother repeating what others have said here about the ability to make appointments - that’s another story. Goodbye Houstons - you truly are a shambles.
Negative experience: I have been with Houston's for 35 years, it used to be a really good dentist when I first joined and Mr & Mrs Houston were running it. It has unfortunately been in noticeable decline for about 10 years now. You never see the same dentist twice, you are either in and out in 5 mins or they are trying to recommend a more extreme, very expensive treatment at the other end of the scale, and on getting a second opinion I've been told unnecessary treatment which is not needed. Getting an appointment is also a nightmare and some of the reception staff are no longer friendly (although some are still lovely). It's.a false economy going here. Instead I'd recommend doing your research and going to a different, well regarded dentist practice in the area, whose private prices may be a little higher but you will get much better consistent quality of care and the necessary attentiveness and experience and skill level, to be able to offer you the best treatment option for the longterm care of your teeth. You can pay £40 for a 5 min NHS appointment here, or you can spend £90 for a more attentive 40 mins appointment privately. Cheaper isn't necessarily better value .
Negative experience: If I could give 0 I would. Until now I would have given 5 stars. Service has always been superb but I am shocked that this kind of practice is even legal. I spent almost an hour before someone answered the phone. I am an NHS patient, and I needed to see someone about a tooth that's giving me trouble. Amy eventually answered and told me there is no NHS appointments, said I should go away and then hung up the phone! No advice, no clarity just no. So disappointed in them and frustrated they can get away with it so openly. EDIT: It has been over a year and still I have heard nothing from Houston's or from the complaints department. If you value your health, do not expect to get a good service here.
Fantastic experience: The owners, Alliance Dental, chose not to answer my recent question as to why most of the dentists have left or why their phones are not answered. What a shambles Updated May 2024 to ask why is the phone not answered? Is it because most of the dentists have left? What a shambles! I can't give enough praise to the excellent John Cantwell, his dental nurses and the receptionists at 162 Milton Road. You all rock!

Negative experience: Wish I could say i’m joking when i put this, managed to get an nhs appointment with houstons, my first appointment i had to tell the dentist where my filling was needed and my second appointment he’s put a filling on the WRONG tooth!! doesn’t seem to have any idea what he’s doing! The lady at the reception was quite nice and has managed to re-book me in with a different dentist but now I have to wait almost 3 weeks in pain because of the dentist not doing his job properly.

Negative experience: These people are a disgrace. Cancelled my appointment so many times , they then said I was no longer a patient because I hadn’t been for so long. Did the same for my children and now the eldest has turned 18, they said he has to go private. Shocking
Negative experience: Needed an emergency appointment, could only get it privately as it's impossible to sign up through the NHS. Had 2 appointments cancelled on the day. And spent 2 weeks trying to call with no response. Finally I get to book an appointment, with the damage already being done to my tooth, and they can only give me an appointment in a weeks time, in the middle of the day (meaning I'd have to take half a day off work). Come the day of the appointment and traffic is awful, try contacting them multiple times to say I'm running late, no response. End up turning up 10 minutes late, they turn me away saying I'm too late, and that I need to pay a down payment of £50. Now have to take a full day off work next week as the next appointment is late morning, giving me no reason to go in. Am absolutely livid and need to wait another week whilst in agony. Once the appointment is over its safe to say I'm done with this place! Thanks
Negative experience: Like everyone else I was kicked off the NHS despite being a customer for years. They are happy to make private appointments but in looking for a new dentist even if private. At Houston you never see the same dentist twice

Negative experience: I would’ve give them minus 10 stars if I could. As all the other reviewers have already said there are no NHS appointments available, no regular check ups because apparently the only dentist they had, has left the clinic. I now have to pay so much money to have my teeth fixed due to their negligence. My last appointment (emergency appointment after 3 months of calling them) was with a dentist who was very inexperienced. Needless to say that he didn’t do a great job. He didn’t answer any of my questions and also didn’t make any recommendations for further treatment which is needed.

Fantastic experience: From Alison Stewart: I saw Dr Ameer who is a qualified dentist but helping with hygienist appointments at present. I cannot praise this man highly enough. This is the only time I have had an hygienist appointment where I have able to tolerate the water floss. A few jumps for sensitivity but 10 times better than in the past. The numbing gel seemed to work better this time too. A charming and talented dentist. I would recommend him unreservedly. And the receptionist was just lovely too - helped me find my way to the bus back to Congresbury!
