Negative experience: Bad practice. Came here for an emergency appointment. I had my tooth checked only to be told by the receptionist that the person who checked my tooth was a therapist and not a qualified dentist so he couldn’t do any treatment or give me anything to take away the pain. The receptionist still demanded payment for the appointment and I was advised to arrange another appointment with the actual dentist!! What a joke.
Fantastic experience: Great first experience with this small practice! It was one of the only places still taking on new NHS patients, so I felt really lucky to be seen so quickly after getting in touch. All the staff were friendly and professional, and I felt well cared for throughout. I hadn’t been to the dentist in a while, but they explained everything clearly and made me feel at ease and I’ll be returning soon for some fillings. Very glad to have found this place!

Negative experience: Hello, I went to this dentist as a new nhs patient needing some fillings and a crown.i needed some orthodontic work doing which i dont think practice provides. If you're an nhs patient they use the band system which means you never pay more than the highest band needed which is band c in my case. The practice were looking to split the dental work for the 3 or 4 fillings over two 3 months sittings with another check up in between. Two fillings today the other next time which means im effectively paying for two courses of treatment. If i had required more fillings in the mean time, you start to see the problem. Going to the dentist twice for fillings is no problem it's the potential additional cost and timescale which doesn't add up. I calmly but frustatingly confronted the dentist in the dentist chair who could offer no clarity about her intended strategy for the dental work other than telling me that this is not practice policy. I emailed the practice manager to raise some serious concerns. She actually emailed back removing me from the practice for asking questions. I joined this practice a few weeks ago, they had spaces available now i understand why. Blakely dentist practice a part of a bigger group which includes a dentist practice in Hale.

Fantastic experience: My son has been using this dentist and they are brilliant with him, so I decided I would join this dentist to, the lady on reception was lovely and made me an appointment straight away? As a very nervous patient after a bad experience from a different dentist a few years ago I was dreading my first appointment I was so nervous but as soon as I walked in the 2 gentlemen spoke to me and instantly made me feel at ease, checked my teeth and explained what the next steps would be, today I seen the hygienist he was amazing and I didn’t feel a thing and gave me lots of useful information on how to take care of my teeth! I would 100 percent recommend this dentist thank you guys for restoring my faith and helping me overcome my dentist fear! Ps next time I will leave my anxiety ball at home .x

Negative experience: Unfortunately due to the unprofessionalism of this practice we wont be returning. Our appointment was at 9am, whilst waiting in the reception area the dentist ran in about 10 mins later. Maybe running late? At this point the waiting area was full. Had to book my child in for his abscess, he was seen to by a therapist Ola who carried out the examination although he was lovely and good with kids he missed out on a-lot of other problems found in my childs mouth. I was disappointed in the overall service provided. We were given a prescription for my sons antibiotics, when we went to the chemist we were turned away as the prescription did not have the correct information on it! (No dosages etc) We returned to the practice for a new prescription, With no apologies or explanation we were expected to just leave… When I asked what the prescription said to clarify dosage and length of the course, the receptionist said “I think its 5 times a day” which didn't sound right. I asked her to double check with the dentist, but she came back smirking saying she is busy and I had to wait for her. The dentist then slammed her door shut. My husband then asked the other receptionist who said she thinks its to be taken for 5 days. So we just left hoping the pharmacy could advise us better. Really disappointed, other people in the waiting area also expressed that the practice has really gone down hill over the past couple of years. Cancelled all future appointments over the phone today, again the receptionist has no customer service skills.

We are sorry to hear that you have been unhappy with the service that you have received.
Unfortunately we do not carry out full examinations on emergency appointments as we have limited time with appointments that are booked on urgency.
We apologise if you were kept waiting 10 minutes. As you rightly said , we are an extremely busy practice and sometimes the appointment times can run slightly late. We are working on how to book the appointments more efficiently.so this does not happen again.
We try to see everyone in pain and not let them wait that is why we sometimes get very busy.
We have a great record on patients being able to get emergency appointments
Our appointments are all done with the door closed for privacy. This is not done in any way to offend anyone in reception.
As you can appreciate, the clinic is very busy and the dentists are not always available to come and have discussions with patients who are not booked in.

Negative experience: This dentist is HORRENDOUS DO NOT USE!! I went in for a routine check up with no pain and no problems. I was advised I needed a filling so had the procedure and paid for it! For a full week I have been in complete agony, was prescribed some anti biotic (the dentist didn’t even look on my mouth and sent on my way) after time off work and more pain I went back to the surgery early morning 31/04/25 in tears and was given an afternoon appointment to remove the tooth! After sitting there for over 15 minutes - the poor receptionist was instructed to give me the news that I would not be seen, in front of a packed room full of people!! The dentist who owns this practice is unprofessional, condescending and heartless and I will be taking this complaint further!! Avoid at all cost, especially any NHS patients who are treated with particular distain!! I’ve spent over £200 on appointments, antibiotics and painkillers and had to have time off work!! Genuinely review from genuine ex patient - this dentist is a fraud!!

Negative experience: Wish I could leave no stars. I have just been for a check up and after they had completed the check up they informed me that I was no longer registered on their system as an nhs patient. They should have informed me of the cost before they did the work. Also I use the term “check up” loosely, the dentist checked one tooth which I had already informed her that I’d been to an emergency dentist about and told her I needed a re-route of a route canal. She then quoted me double the price of what I’d been quoted by another dental practice and tried to say it was “specialist treatment” so would cost more! She did not check or x-Ray my other teeth. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately this is factually incorrect.
All of the correct information, prices etc were given at the start of the appointment before any treatment commences and is only carried out once you agree to the prices. This is how we provide our services to all patients.
All practices have their own price list. We do not have a specialist at this practice, we refer out to another practice and have no financial gain from that service. The price we quoted you is what a specialist normally charges but we do not benefit in any way financially from making that referral. We cannot advise what other clinicians should charge. If you have found somewhere cheaper,that is entirely your choice.
During emergency appointments we do not carry out full examinations of all teeth. We address the problem that is causing a concern and that is why these are available at short notice. The normal wait for a routine check up is alot longer.
Examination appointments are for a full assessment of your full mouth.
We cannot reserve NHS places for patients who persistently fail or do not attend their appointments. There are thousands of people looking for appointments on the NHS and failing these appointments costs the NHS thousands and also denies access to other patients in need of dental care.
It is the patients responsibility to attend regular appointments and not to waste the NHS time and this has been explained to you.

The dentist here are dental therapist, they won't see certain NHS patients when they have too, they have 5 mins appointments which is completely unacceptable. This place needs to be investigated. Fantastic experience: Honestly terrified of dentist They made me feel so comfortable And seen me as a new patient Such lovely friendy staff Treatment fillings and clean
Negative experience: Attended for emergency private appointment. Stated i was pregnant on the online form, over the phone and written form, attended the appointment after being asked to pay to book in, to be told they cannot do anything as I am pregnant. Waste of money, wasn’t even in the room for 2 minutes. Appointment was also 45 minutes late.
Negative experience: I would strongly advise against visiting this practice. I am a qualified dentist and advised my parents to book an appointment with a dentist as I am working full-time in a secondary care setting. My Mum had pain in her gum and my Dad had not seen a dentist for over 3 years. They were told that they would be seeing a dentist and when they attended the practice the person they saw a Mr Olawale Akeem Sotunde. This person did not introduce themselves as a dentist and my Mum only realised that this person was not a dentist because it said in the waiting area that this person was a therapist. So first of all, my parents were misled and deceived. Secondly, no radiographs were taken for either my Mum or Dad. I have assessed my parents before and I know my Mum has active gum disease and my Dad has multiple crown restorations. For both of these reasons, radiographs are indicated, yet none were taken. Furthermore, my Mum was told to clear the pain she was experiencing to simply 'gargle the mouth with salt water' and she was told to return in 6 months. This is very poor and highlights a grave concern of patient safety and neglect. She was not given a diagnosis for her pain, no radiographs were taken, the gum disease was not identified and no treatment was offered. For these reasons, I would advise all members of the public to avoid this practice at all costs. You will be misled and fooled. I am taking this matter further with the CQC and GDC because this level of care is unacceptable and not safe. Please take my advice. I have no conflict of interest in sharing this information with you. I do not even live in Manchester. My concerns lie with the public. Thank you.

Negative experience: Really bad experience last year (august 2023) where I attended with my two sons- age 4 (who is autistic) and age 7 at the time. After a 10 minute way, I asked how long I’d be waiting as my autistic son was getting extremely distressed waiting around. I told her I can’t wait too long, she suggested I go to my car and wait and come back in, in 10 minutes. I did this, but still was not seen. I waited another 10 minutes (30 mins in total) and had noticed most of the people who came in after me had been seen - I suspected due to waiting in the car, I had probably ‘missed’ my turn. My son was soooo distressed at this point, I just left. They didn’t even apologised or anything… if that was me ‘30 mins late to my ap, they would not see me but make me pay!!’ Then yesterday, I called to make an app for my 8 year old, and spoke to the receptionist about his possible chipped tooth or his filling coming out (wasn’t sure which one has occurred). I told her I wanted an app after school time (due to teachers penalising children for taking time off school). Considering I am ringing about a child with a tooth issue, the dentist wasn’t able to find me an appointment after 3pm for the whole of this month, and told me to ring back once my son breaks up from school in 3 weeks!!! Saddo. Well today, I went to a lovely dentist in prestwhich and I’ll never step foot in this one again. My friend also has had a bad experience here unfortunately. I feel they need to get investigated . Immediately. That’s how bad they are… Receptionist - learn some ethics and values, and manners. Listen to the calls you’ve had with clients and reflect…

We are sorry to hear that you have been unhappy with your experience at the practice.
We are s busy NHS practice and have limited appointment times for emergency appointments. As I am sure you can appreciate, we cannot always accomodate an appointment at a time that suits patients.
We have patients booked in weeks ahead and cannot cancel other patients to fit around what suits every other patient.
An appointment was offered to you and you were not happy with the time.
We accomodate children around school times, but this is not always possible. In the event that this is not possible, we can provide an appontment card to confirm your attendance to the school. This is normally widely accepted by schools.
I am sorry that on this occasion we were not able to accomodate you but as you rightly stated, we are an extremely busy NHS practice and although we wish we could accomodate all patients appointment preferences, this is not always possible, especially for emergency appointments.
Fantastic experience: Originally wrote a review under my partner's name Jason Holt which was not very true it was written when I was in a lot of pain and of course I took my frustration and anger out on the dental practice and staff which was unfair. I came into the dentist on the 20th and unfortunately I was unable to go through with treatment due to a phobia of needles. He did try to reassure me and keep me calm but unfortunately my fear has kicked in and even if there had been a suitcase with a million pounds in I wouldn't of been able to do it sadly once I had seen the needle all I wanted to do was run. I have since respoken to the dentist today and we are moving forward by myself being put on referral list for dental sedation due to my fear of needles.

Negative experience: AVIOD this dental practice at all cost.the staff are rude.i went in for an emergency appointment I had an xray and they just put me in a filling without any injection or treatment.what cost me £250.today I've been to a professional practice because the filling fell out and they informed me the decay was that bad and would of been like this for sometime so thanks to Blackley surgery I have now got to go for specialist treatment.if they would of done it right in the first place I wouldn't be in all this pain and £250 out of pocket.HONESTLY STAY AWAY.

Negative experience: This is my worst experience I've ever had. I didnt want to share it but i dont want to see somebody will end up as me because of... Bad decision I came here because my filling fell out and this dentist took me in in two hours i found some websites with emergency dental care,they called me in few mins. So i arrived to Blackley where i had got appointment immediately... They had fixed the tooth and i went for holiday. After two hours i was in terrible pain, i was out of Manchester on holiday whole time on painkillers which never worked. I couldn't eat, sleep, think, drive.. All my teeth started hurt, pain was around whole mouth, i got pain in neck, ear and eyes, headaches. I got swollen face. I came second time fix it, they told me there is nothing wrong but i insist to change filling. Pain was after few hours back again. They assured me there is nothing the tooth is healthy! I came back few days after, they ignored me told me there is no infection, obviously I already had the huge infection, they told me nothing is wrong and gave me toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Joke! I paid around 300£ for this? I begged for antibiotics i was suffering they didnt care. I dont really remember what was after because all fell apart so fast after.. I end up in hospital over night on antibiotics i couldn't speak my face was swollen my skin was purple. The doctor obviously messed up nerves as well because i was suffering, any pills worked,.. Lately i lost sensitivity in my left arm ive got seriously sick and after i got physiotherapy, my joints got swollen, stoped hearing on right ear... My dentist tried to fix it and heal the tooth i was on antibiotics because i was getting infection again and again so we cleaned roots. Healed it but infection was already in the body for so long. But these problems never stoped escalate I've got problems with joints, nerves, pain over all teeth and whole body. All teeth had been healthy, but since i visit this "dentist" i ve been in pain. I've been sick for over year, running tests, xrays, mri, physiotherapy, some things get better after months on physiotherapy and antibiotics but some never get better. These people shouldn't get certificate. They have ruined my life. They were irresponsible and they didnt care. Dont be stupid how i was go to hospital or some dentist as bupa etc. Nobody will ever give me back my health. I forgot mention if u pay they will kick u out till u pay then u can came back. So wierd and rude and i will not comment prices.. Not mention my mental health after. I was scared to go to every doctor after... Joke is u left the room and they expect take your next booking hell no! I hope this will save someone who try to be responsible as i did. This is not the way u want save your health. Please dont. I wish to know name of the dentist he was terrible and the lady with him really didnt help.
Negative experience: Couldn’t book a scale & polish because wanted me to be referred by a dentist. I pay privately and don’t see why I need to be referred to get my teeth professionally cleaned!

Fantastic experience: I had a tooth extraction with Dr Numan on Monday, as an emergency out of hours appointment. I was greeted by Georgia who was extremely welcoming and friendly, and then welcomed into the surgery for the appointment. Dr Numan was very friendly, informative and made me feel extremely at ease. The only issue was the fact he was a Manchester United fan! Georgia then came in and helped take some XRays, and explained the issue with my tooth and gave me optinos before ensuring i was happy to proceed with the extraction. I hate needles, like most people, but i barely felt the 2 i was given for anaesthetic, even though one went into my pallet. Following the numbing, my tooth was removed, and even though my root was bent causing the removal to be quite tricky, Dr Numan did a great job, and i didn't feel a thing. 4 days later and my mouth is healing really well, after following the really precise after care information Georgia provided me with. Would highly recommend using this surgery, and especially Dr Numan and his dental nurse Georgia for anything you'd need.
Fantastic experience: My names Lee Mitchell , I’ve attended Blackley Dental Practice , in the past 4 weeks , the service I recieved was absolutely amazing , friendly , put me at ease I’d recommend the practice with no hesitation. My name is Richard Towers,Lee is my brother and today I went to Blackley dental practice because of Lee,I am terrified of dentists so I would rather go through the pain instead of going to the dentist,Lee told me and assured me that Blackley dental practice are so good that he persuaded me to go,I went today and I don’t know why I was scared,the dentists are amazing and caring, i felt no pain whatsoever so I advice anyone who are abit scared of the dentists then go to the Blackley dental practice,you are In very good hands,even the receptionist is a sweetheart,so again I thank you all at the Blackley dental practice.
