Fantastic experience: Once again a big thank you to Simon and Octavian for further treatment including a root filling and adjustment to my dentures. It was all carried out to the highest standard and with the upmost care and consideration for my well being. And the support staff from reception to nurses are all superb as well. I am delighted with my new dentures and thank Simon Ellis and his team for their high level of professionalism, skill and care over the last few months.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant service. I have a very complex Jaw, following surgery for a total TMJ replacement some years ago. I needed to have a crown done as my regularly dentist was not able to do this due to needing a certain specialist dentist with the correct expertise, and she referred me to Josh Sharpling. Josh Sharpling was outstanding ! from the planning right through to treatment and discharge. Everything was well planned out for each part of the procedure and explained step by step, both verbally and in writing, and he also copied in My Maxillofacial consultant. As I was complex everything took much longer due to needing adequate breaks and I needed more appointments than normal. Josh talked to me calmly throughout the treatment and he has a special way of reassuring his patients with his confidence. In my view he is the very best specialist in the south of England, I would not hesitate to use Josh again. Fantastic experience: This review covers 3 visits to this practice and all, so far, have been excellent visits. Remedial work needed to be carried out on my teeth has always been fully explained by both Tawf and Josh and costs for that work made clear to me. All work to be done has been put into print and the reception staff have been brilliant in arranging all my appointments well into the year ahead, enabling me to sort out my diary well in advance. Since this first review after the 3 visits my implant work has continued with Josh and his wonderful 'crew'. Whilst I don't like visiting any sort of dentist (who does?), this lovely team of people have made it a comfortable experience for me. Their work has provided me with a great set of implanted teeth giving me a lot more confidence when smiling - cheesey grins are now a specialism of mine! They have never been short of superb on all levels - notably professionalism and friendliness. Holly was my first hygienist and she was nothing short of brilliant. I was concerned when she left to start a family, but was replaced by Flora who has been equally brilliant. Fantastic experience: I was referred by my own dentist for a root canal filling, I saw Octavian for a consultation where he explained the whole procedure and took photos of the tooth so I was prepared for my next appointment. The procedure is quite involved but all went smoothly and Octavian showed me all the stages from start to finish on screen with the photos he took at each stage, I was able to eat more or less straight away and no pain , very happy. I always feel that I'm in safe hands going to South Coast Dentist.

Fernando Erikssen is my dentist for this procedure and has filled me with confidence from the beginning by thoroughly explaining the process both verbally and in clear narrative with total cost transparency. Octavian (& Torrie) were excellent and put me at ease from the start. 90 mins is quite a long appointment, however their professionalism helped me maintain a calm feeling at all times. Fantastic experience: I do have trouble with a painful jaw at the dentist normally, but undergoing treatment for two implants plus two mouthguards, with the help of Graham Browning, i can honestly say I felt safe, relaxed and confident that I was in the best hands. I couldn’t fault him, he was so skilled and so friendly, positive and pleasant as were the nurses. And I found the reception staff very pleasant and efficient as well.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit in over 30 years of not seeing a dentist, I had a butcher for a dentist growing up so the fear for this visit was extremely overwhelming and I was terrified. Connie met me in the car park and took me straight into meet David so no waiting in the waiting room. David then told me step by step what he was going to do and took it all at my pace. Connie stayed by my side at all times. After the consultation David and Connie explained what the plan was moving forward because of David and Connies care, my faith in seeing and having treatment again has been restored and that’s because I can see how passionate these two are about what they are doing in their jobs. The crown exceeded my expectations in quality and appearance, fitting naturally with surrounding teeth. Fantastic experience: Josh kindly fitted an implant nearly two years ago which I am very pleased with, I recently had an issue with the gum surrounding the implant. Josh and Tawf were able to quickly address the issue for which I am very grateful, the review was very thorough and I learned some useful tips on how to use interdental brushes.

Fantastic experience: I had 3 implants successfully inserted by Fernando a couple of years ago, without any pain. Recently I needed a deep cleansing treatment for gum disease over one tooth and again, I did not experience pain. Although I have private general dentistry, this is the only dental surgeon who has given injections without pain due to the use of a superior numbing agent beforehand. All the staff are very pleasant also. I can highly recommend this Centre.

He is an excellent practitioner and has the ability to create an air of calm which would put any nervous patient at ease. Fantastic experience: I saw Flora for a hygiene appointment and airflow and oh my lord my teeth are gleaming! I've never seen them so white and clean; I didn't feel any pain at all and both her as well as her nurse were very reassuring throughout the entire appointment. The practice itself is very beautiful and all staff I encountered were very lovely and professional. I had two lower impacted wisdom teeth removed with Leandro Nunes after previously having consultations with two other oral surgeons and them declining treatment with myself stating it was too high of a risk with the teeth being close to the nerve. I was told I'd have to go to hospital to be put to sleep and there was a high chance of being left with a numb face. Flash forward to treatment with Leandro, he was able to see me swiftly following my consultation due to receptionist Alix being able to book an appointment around my work schedule. The nurses were a delight to be around with Nikola agreeing to hold my hand whilst Alice assisted Leandro. I had swelling, bruising and some pain following the treatment but had all the aftercare instructions provided prior and had a post op appointment a week later to remove the remaining stitches and check on healing. I cant thank Leandro and the team at South Coast Dental Specialists enough, I would highly recommend them and have done to anyone that will listen!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to this dental practice through my own dentist. I am suffering gum disease and need help to save my teeth and hopefully have implants. I am not a good patient when it comes to the dentist, but from the moment I stepped through the door at this practice, everyone has been very helpful, kind, and understanding. Fantastic experience: I first went to South Coast Dental, Dorchester, in 2013 and had 2 implants in the lower jaw, and this year I went back and had another one in the top jaw. The fact that I returned for the second treatment shows my confidence in the practice! (I am a VERY nervous patient!) I have always found the staff to be friendly, reassuring, and professional.The waiting room and treatment rooms look clean and bright and of course, extra hygiene precautions are in place because of Covid-19, and I have felt very safe throughout. Definitely recommend! Edit 04.01.24 - Been back to the practice again, this time to have some periodontal treatment by Tawf who explained everything to me at the initial consultation and again at the second appointment when the work was done. Despite also having a VERY stubborn tooth extracted, my slightly prolonged experience was pain free, and I felt confident that I was in safe hands and that those roots would eventually give up the fight and allow themselves to be extracted! As before, all the staff I spoke with were very pleasant and the premises looked clean and well cared for. Edit 02.04.24 - Just had final check after some other work done by Tawf back in March. As always, the waiting room and consulting room were spotless, and the staff pleasant and competent. Can not find fault with anything at this practice, and it's almost with sadness that I am handed back to my regular dentist practice now that Tawf has sorted the dental issues that I have recently had! It's reassuring to know that if any further problems happen to arise, I can confidently be referred back to South Coast Dental to have them sorted! Fantastic experience: I first met Simon Ellis in 2012 when I went to him for advice about my upper teeth which were in a poor condition, and deteriorating fast. Simon guided me through the procedure he proposed which involved removal of remaining upper teeth, and after healing of tissue, the fitting of 7 implants with a fixed bridge to support the new teeth. I was very nervous at the thought of the procedure, and it took over a year to complete, but I was thrilled with the result and am so relieved I took the decision to go ahead when I did. I cannot emphasise strongly enough how reassuring, considerate, and brilliant Simon has been. He is an amazing restorative dental surgeon, with the lightest touch even when performing the most complex precision dental work. He is simply the best! South Coast dental practice is a joy to visit, with friendly and ultra professional staff, and a calming atmosphere. If you have any worries about your teeth, just pay them a visit.

If you have never had root canal treatment there is nothing to fear. I did not experience any pain, even the local anaesthetic was pain free. Fantastic experience: Was at South Coast Dental from May – September 2023 for a tooth implant. I’m rather a nervous patient for any dentistry, but Josh and the team made me feel comfortable and very well looked after. Equipment and process seemed very modern, professional and thorough. Josh very clearly explained all the different options available and gave excellent advice. Really got the feeling that we picked the solution that was best for me, not the most expensive or easiest to get me off the books as quickly as possible. Appointments were available at times that suited me well. The only thing that was not possible to book in was a dental hygienist appointment. Great after care, regularly checking that implant was healing well and fitted nicely. Dentistry work is never cheap, but I felt I got good value for money here. All in all, very good experience. Fantastic experience: Unfortunately I had a few things that needed sorting, so I have had treatment from John, David, Octavian and Josh!! They were all very caring and I felt I was being treated by experts and my results reflect that. I must also mention the friendly, knowledgable efficiency of the receptionists, particularly Alix.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would as I have made a complaint about the awful ‘service’ I feel I have received at the South Coast Dental Practice in Dorchester. Following a referral from my dentist, I went for my consultation with Octavian recently regarding root canal work on a twisted root. Subsequently, I was then booked in for treatment yesterday. However, on arriving for the treatment, I was told by Octavian that he couldn’t now carry out my procedure but would still be charging me £200 for a temporary filling! Therefore, instead of treatment costing approximately £1,000, I would now have to have an implant costing in the region of £3,700!! Not a happy customer at all and am awaiting outcome of my complaint from the Practice Manager.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a follow up visit so that Octavian could check that all was well after my extensive root canal work and subsequent crown. It was good to be reassured that all was good and to see it on the x-ray. Always a pleasure to visit this practice. Well presented premises and friendly staff. Easy to find and parking on site is a real bonus!

Fantastic experience: Simon Ellis is a brilliant restorative dental specialist. He pays particular attention to the finer detail and works with you to achieve the results you want. He is patient and kind, constantly checking to make sure you are comfortable with the treatment taking place, always putting the patient first. The whole team work together like a well oiled machine and the rapport he has with his dental nurses ensures the patient experience is the best it can be. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this practice to anyone.

As an anxious patient he completely put me at ease talking through everything before he even looked in my mouth. He was so professional and understanding. Fantastic experience: I have had amazing treatment at South Coast Dental,... the best treatment ever from Fernando for implants and bone grafts. he is kind and patient and very professional. Beverly the hygienist is amazing she puts you at ease and is very gentle,.. my teeth have been really good ever since I started being treated by her. I cant recommend the whole team highly enough!

Fantastic experience: Josh has been fantastic, looking after me for the past year. Josh has taken so much time and care to ensure my teeth not only look great, but feel great too. Josh has always put me at ease, and his warm, relaxed and professional approach has eradicated my previous fear of the dentist! I have been lucky enough to receive care from one of the best in the country, and will even miss my visits!
