Fantastic experience: Came the other day for a wisdom tooth extraction. It only lasted an hour even with the procedure being more complex than initially thought, all staff were very friendly and our doctor was extremely well skilled and kept very calm and relaxed during the procedure. Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this dental practice since 2012. After my previous dentist Julia retired and the staff changed many times, I almost left, until I met Alessandro. He is truly exceptional. I had an NHS filling and crown done, and even though they were free, the quality was incredible. Alessandro skill and care reminded me why I stay. I couldn’t be more grateful to him and the whole team.

Fantastic experience: I have been using this practice since 1997, for many years David Gilchrist was my dentist and since he retired and it became University Dental Care I have been using Marcos as my dentist and I will continue to use him as I think he’s a fabulous dentist who does a great job keeping my teeth and smile in fabulous condition. All the reception staff are very friendly. It’s easy to get an appointment. The practice is near to my home and work. My dentist Marcos has many years of dental knowledge and practice and professionalism and is very friendly and helpful too! I love all the appointment reminders which mean I never miss an appointment! 5 stars ✨ Highly recommend this practice if you are looking for a new dentist!

Negative experience: If I could I will give a -5 stars but 1 is the lowest I can go. Due to send a complain in writing to the clinic but will leave that for another day. This used to be my dentist for years and it has been taken over by University Dental Care with assuming the clients along with the buy out. Having said that let me add that they are money robbers not interested in nhs and trying to direct for private treatment. Will start with the first visit where I saw a dentist who will not speak and did the worst nhs check up and cleaning ever. Went back in and was booked with a different dentist to check a small chip on the back of my front teeth, I didn’t questioned the £100 quoted as I was not given the nhs option for a white filling, I thought the only ones were silver and I didn’t want that in the front teeth, however now that I go to a different dentist I find out that front teeth fillings or chips are covered by the nhs in white composite….that was never offered so I feel robbed, specially as it has lasted for a few months and fall, quality obviously not good. This has now been fixed elsewhere at nhs price composite. I then went for another check up where no even a cleaning was done and raised concern with wisdom tooth that was painful and was asking for this to be taken out. I was told it was a difficult one and as it was next to a crown the dentist said that wouldn’t like to damage the crown but they have an amazing surgeon (obviously private) and the wisdom tooth was £400 . I did say that I had insurance and that will check if they cover something but also asked to be referred to the nhs surgeon in the meantime. I called back to cancel the surgeon private appointment which they didn’t and I had to follow up, in writing by email so it will be documented. Then I questioned the referral to the NHS surgeon and been giving evasive responses such as we need to check with your dentist, a bit bizarre as I saw a different dentist each time so I’m sure someone would have been able to check, this was back in June I think this year, did you hear back? Neither do I so I went to search for a new dentist who has been great, took my wisdom tooth out as a surgical extraction as well as fixing the chip in the front teeth. An absolute appalling experience after decades of going to this place before it was taken over. As said a proper complain will be raised to the clinic once life gives me sometime. Meanwhile here is the review for others to avoid this place!

Fantastic experience: I wasn’t a patient here when I called about an infected wisdom tooth, but they fit me in the same day and gave me antibiotics that cleared the infection. I later booked privately to have the tooth removed and got an appointment within about two weeks. I’d had a bad experience elsewhere before, but my dentist Marcos was amazing, he explained everything, made sure I felt no pain, and gave clear aftercare advice. Can’t thank you enough and would highly recommend this practice!

Negative experience: Been a patient at this dentist for 20 years, since university dental care took over I have had quite a few different problems. For example earlier this year I was quoted for a white filling, once seeing the cost I called up to change to silver, this was placed as a note on my file and not passed on to the dentist. So the dentist gave me the white filling, then refused for 2 weeks to sign the refund document which was 100% the dental practices mistake. The manager Holly was excellent and got it sorted and refunded, however the whole nightmare process took 4 weeks. A big thank you to Holly though because I really felt listened to and supported by her. Recently my hygienist appointment lasted 20-25 mins and cost £99, the prices are astronomical. When looking at other practices in the area they are between £55-70 for a hygienist clean. I would go elsewhere where but they aren’t accepting patients just yet, and the dental practice is a good location for me.
Fantastic experience: I had a complicated extraction and infection to deal with. Marcos and the rest of the team were excellent throughout. Marcos explained what was going to happen and talked me through the whole process. It was painless and carried out expertly. I recommend this dentist practice 100%

Negative experience: Gone massively downhill. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and David ran it. I had a dental abscess two years ago. Got antibiotics to clear it then had a white filling put on. It got infected soon after so had to go back and get more antibiotics and was told I should have had a root canal not a filling. Got the root canal done and filling put back on free of charge. Two years later the filling has cracked leaving me with a massive gap but I’m not in pain (luckily) made an appointment to get it looked at with a new dentist as the previous one I had left. He looked at it and gave me an x ray and explained two of the roots in my tooth hadn’t been filled properly and I could either have it ripped out or get referred to a root canal specialist. Then he put some white putty in it and left it at that. Leaving me with no idea how long that will take and I was out within literally five minutes. I then went to reception as I was unsure if I had to pay anything as he didn’t say anything and they said no I was all done. I left and had missed calls from them asking me to pay £22.48. I’ve paid it and have no idea what I’ve actually paid for and the white putty has fallen out not even a day later leaving me having to use a temporary filling kit as I’m going on holiday tomorrow. It’s just so frustrating with how much I’ve been through with this tooth but I’ve booked in elsewhere as I’ve just had so many bad experiences here it isn’t worth the stress.

Negative experience: A Disappointing Decline in Standards I was a long-standing patient of Julia, who was an exceptional dentist. Her professionalism, skill, and care kept me coming back for many years, and I was genuinely sad to see her go. Unfortunately, since the practice changed hands, my experience has gone downhill significantly. I was initially treated by Jimena, and I’ve never experienced such pain during dental work. Despite having had many procedures done in the past, none were as uncomfortable as those with her. After Jimena left, I noticed a sharp edge on the tooth she had worked on. At a checkup with Winona, she failed to pick up on the issue until I pointed it out. She then told me the filling had broken and would need to be redone — and since it was large, a white filling would cost around £140. On the day of the appointment, I was informed (by a new assistant on her first day working at this clinic) that they were locked out of the system and could only accept cash — otherwise, the procedure couldn’t go ahead, which felt incredibly unprofessional. During the procedure, the anesthetic took a long time to work. I experienced several moments of sharp, nerve pain while being drilled. Winona tried to be patient, but most of the appointment was spent waiting for the anesthetic to take effect. The actual work took maybe 10–15 minutes — and then I was charged £200 for the filling. I’ve never paid so much for such a poorly handled appointment. What was once a trustworthy and reliable dental practice is now a shadow of its former self. I’ll be moving to a different dentist from now on, where I hope to receive the professional care that this practice no longer offers.

Negative experience: Please don't be scammed as I was. I have been a patient here for 28 years. In the last year I have seen Willie Tsai who was a total waste of time, completely incompetent and thankfully gone. I was forced to return to the practice last Friday and met Winona Brandt who told me that I needed a tooth out, I returned today to have the tooth removed which had been causing pain. She had remarked whilst I was in on Friday that I had a small cavity which she also fixed and an old tooth which she said should be removed. I naively and in good faith didn't ask for the price as I have always been an NHS patient and have always experienced any exceptional costs being discussed - imagine my horror at being presented with a bill for £267.88. My mouth was clamped on a soggy cloth but nethertheless I did walk to my car and then turn back with the receipt and Miss Brandt was at the desk - I said You know I am an NHS patient - she smirked and said I should have given you the price before ah yes. I have seen returned again and will be submitting a complaint. Imagine if I couldn't afford this unexpected expense as many wouldn't be unable to. Appalling unethical and unprofessional practice - I will be seeking further advice as I am questioning whether the second tooth needed removing and whether the filling was needed as it require anesthetic. Total scam - I felt incredibly stupid to have trusted that a registered NHS dentist would be professional. Be warned anyone using this practice.

Negative experience: I write this review to express my profound dissatisfaction with the care I received during my recent visit to this surgery. As a long-standing patient, I have always expected a high level of service, but my recent experience has left me profoundly disappointed and neglected. Six weeks ago, I called this practice experiencing SEVERE toothache. When I reached out to the receptionist, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was in six weeks. Despite explaining my terrible pain, I was told there were no options available to expedite my care, and I was left to suffer through this prolonged period of discomfort. The usual, struggling to eat, sleep or function. Today, after waiting six weeks, I finally met with the dentist. While she took X-rays and assessed my teeth, the focus very quickly shifted to discussing the need for multiple extractions and implants, at an exorbitant cost of £12,000, rather than addressing and treating the immediate pain I was experiencing. Throughout the appointment, there was a noticeable emphasis on upselling private dental services rather than prioritising my immediate care needs. I expressed my concerns about another tooth causing me pain, only to be told that extraction and again implants was the only option, yet later I was informed about a possibility of a root canal treatment, why didn't we do this today since I had an extended appointment time? This inconsistency in treatment has left me confused and frustrated walking out the door no better than when I walked in. When I inquired about scheduling a follow-up appointment for the root canal, I was disheartened to learn I would need to wait an additional five weeks, despite my ongoing pain. At no point during my visit did I feel that my dental health and comfort were prioritised; instead, the interaction felt more like a sales pitch rather than a patient-centred consultation. The lack of empathy, responsiveness, and genuine concern for my situation is unacceptable. I expected a focus on alleviating my pain and outline a clear treatment plan, but instead, I was met with lengthy discussions about private treatment options. It’s no wonder that people develop an addiction to codeine or accidentally overdose when the quality of service provided is so poor. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address the shortcomings in patient care practices within your dental practice.

Negative experience: I have been a patient for many years with lovely David and Usha who were lovely made me at ease caring helpful polite great client focus. I arrived for my appointment which had been removed from the system and had to go back with in a hour and a bit never happened before! When seen to the Winona just laughed like I would love to know why this women laughs disgusting no apology no care.. When returned a week after for a treatment was sitting waiting 15 minute late as was having conversation with colleagues through the back as if I was not anxious enough! Receptionist had to tell her I had been sitting waiting no apology nothing RUDE! Winona did not explain in detail what she was doing in the treatment after each step just laughed again like what are you laughing at.., No client care after treatment no if there is any problem contact us nothing no bye from Winona photo attached! Negative experience: I have been a patient at University Dental Care for 15 years, but my recent experience was shocking and deeply disappointing. When I arrived for my appointment, I learned that my previous dentist, Hemena, had left the UK. Instead, I was treated by a new dentist, Winona, who spent most of the appointment chatting and left just five minutes to complete my filling. No protective glasses were provided, and no articulating paper was used to check the filling’s position. When she finished, I pointed out roughness at the back of my tooth, but she dismissed my concerns, saying, “You’ll get used to it in a few days.” After I insisted, she aggressively polished the back of my tooth without articulating paper, causing heat and discomfort, while the front of the tooth was left untouched. The crack I came to address remained visible, and the filling looked patchy and incomplete. Ultimately, I had to see another dentist, Chris, to fix her work. While he polished the filling well, my tooth is now too short due to insufficient material used previously. This experience has broken my trust in the practice. Treating NHS patients as less valuable is a mistake—many, like me, use hybrid treatments and are willing to pay for quality care. As an unpaid carer and someone breaking into the media industry, hybrid care is all I can afford. It saddens me to leave after 15 years, especially after the excellent care I received from D. Gilchrist, who worked tirelessly to save my front teeth. The contrast between past and present care is truly disheartening.
Negative experience: Not impressed at all. The guy said good we use cotton wool when I told him my previous experince of this surgery in its previous name as he heard they left cotton wool in my mouth and gave me infections. I had a white filling put in place where an old one had come out, he has left me feeling the complete difference in the tooth and filling where as another dentist replaced a filling with better attitude and no difference. For £170 should be a much finer quality. But of course what do you expect from the primary attititude. And of course lack of attention to detail. Lame and degenerate. I will be registering with a better dentist. Fact, comoletely worrying when they find it ok to leave you with an infection and issue with you teeth, I only used them so that I could get the work done...completely unimpressed and not sure where teeth are diamond shaped? Must he drunk or something. Defo avoid these guys.

Negative experience: My dentist Usha was always lovely I arrived for my appointment which was scheduled with her only to be taken into a different room where a male dentist told me she had left. He was not friendly at all had very little to say and did not know what my further treatment was apart from knowing I needed impressions for new partial dentures. Took one impression with the largest mould I have ever seen which was no good so took second one (all done in silence) I got a phone call days later to advice I had to have them redone as they were incorrect. Back I went for the second time he tried twice all done in silence again he advised he would have to try a third time I told him no I would go to my private technican I was utterly humiliated by the whole experience and will not be back. This morning I had impressions taken with the correct size of moulds from a very friendly kind man who managed to repair my denture by adding the missing teeth that had broken off I arrived at 8.30 and went back at 1.30 to have the denture fitted it was perfect. I suggest the said dentist who tried and failed 4 times might want to work on his attitude to patients he obviously wasnt interest in my treatment and had not even looked at my notes.
Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at this dental practice for over five years, but my recent experiences with a new dentist, Winona Brandt, have been nothing short of shocking and unprofessional. After my previous dentist left without notice, I was assigned to a new practitioner Winona, who has been practicing for only two years. At my most recent appointment, I arrived on time and waited about 30 minutes past my scheduled time without any apology or explanation. When I was finally called in, Winona seemed rushed and dismissive. She didn’t provide protective glasses until I asked for them, and when she inquired about which filling I wanted, I explained that I wasn’t sure of the difference between the NHS-covered option and the private one. Her explanation was vague and unhelpful, making it difficult for me to make an informed decision. When I asked if we could proceed with a cleaning instead, as I wasn’t ready to choose the filling option, she flatly refused. This was especially frustrating as she had previously told me at my last appointment that I would receive a cleaning this time due to there being “no time” at the last visit. Her refusal, coupled with her impatience, rude demeanor, and eye-rolling, left me feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Without warning, she lifted the chair and light in a way that nearly caused me to hit my head, and coldly said, “You are finished.” When I tried to speak with her about my concerns, she turned her back to me, refusing to communicate. I was informed by the receptionist later that NHS policy changes meant cleanings are only offered for teeth with problems, but the dentist hadn’t explained this. What’s more, in my previous cleaning, she only cleaned my front teeth (despite my complaints of pain in my back teeth), and the cleaning was rushed, painful, and done without the protective jelly that is typically applied to ease sensitivity. I left with painful and sensitive teeth. This dentist’s treatment was snobbish and dismissive, as if my being an NHS patient meant I didn’t deserve proper care. She even suggested that the practice prioritised private patients because dentists can “earn more money.” If the practice is unwilling to treat NHS patients with respect, why accept them in the first place? Winona’s unprofessional, condescending attitude has shattered my trust, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this practice to think twice, especially if you’re an NHS patient. Avoid.

Negative experience: I saw a dentist named Willie Tsai who was the most careless and disinterested I've ever experienced. He spent as much time looking at what the nurse was typing as he did my teeth, and left sharp implements in my mouth while he looked away. He manged to hurt me twice during a check-up and even when I stopped him for that reason, he just paused: didn't speak, ask what hurt or apologise. He hardly said a word during the appointment, not even to ask if I had any problems or concerns about my teeth and gums. He really only spoke to rattle off a price list for work I certainly wouldn't trust him to do. If he cares at all about his work or his patients, he hides it very well. The receptionist was very nice about it, but it wasn't her fault and there's nothing she can do about him.
Fantastic experience: Gail here. Having a dentist work with your teeth is very intimate and can be very stressful. Heather the dentist has treated me as an emergency. I feel lucky that she is so professional, gentle, and thoroughly explains everything. She even says well done, not long now, nearly there, signal if you need a break. Many dentists are professional but not all are kind and able to be gentle. Heather is very thoughtful and clearly understands the patients and wants to help them. My impression is that she wishes to care for the whole patient and practises prevention and preservation if at all possible.

Positive experience: I am always anxious going to the dentist, Usha , my dentist , communicated well what was going to happen at each stage. The third root was a bit uncomfortable to remove, the local anaesthetic overall did the trick. I am glad I completed my treatment. Usha reassured me at each stage and stopped whenever I needed her to, I recommend Usha as a very competent dentist. Thanks Usha.

Negative experience: I have been with this practise for as long as I can remember. Julia was always caring, gentle and understanding. Any work needing done was prompt , within a quick timescale and I always left feeling satisfied and confident that the work was a success. As a patient who has suffered severe dental problems for over 30 years due to damage from assault I was always treated with great care. There will never be another Julia. My experience over the last two years has been dreadful. I understand covid and waiting times played a huge part in this but… Having extractions and waiting over a year ( left without teeth and causing other teeth to drift ) whilst waiting on new teeth being made , fitted, adjusted with ridiculous timescales of months between appointments is not good practise. Having to miss out on an expensive family holiday, due to pain, jaw locking, tmj disfunction, tremors, chronic pain and needless to say shame, embarrassment and extreme anxiety is just not on. Since March 2022 I have been on the worst journey of my life and still to this day being robbed off with work not being complete in the timescale required. Promised that an extraction would be corrected and completely replaced in January and I am still waiting. Another family holiday was booked for 03/06/24 and I’ve been told today that I still won’t be having my teeth fixed by then. Due to be fitted this week! I am putting a complaint in. The reception staff have been very apologetic ( it’s not their fault). Being misinformed and neglected by my dentist has totally ruined me over two years. All they are interested in at this practise now is nothing other than making money from “ turkey teeth work”. Long winded review and I haven’t even scratched the surface. My adult daughter and her kids are looking for a new dentist. My brother has said a simple scale and polish recently turned into almost being bullied into composite bonding. ( He has nothing wrong with his teeth). Lo and behold on the very day my dentist promised me the work would be complete…. She has now left the practise! My holiday is ruined, I’m in so much pain and utterly disgusted at how I have been treated. To the receptionist who is doing everything in her power to help me , you are the most kind, caring person in this practise now. I need to stay with the practise to have my work completed and I’m hoping the dentist who finishes the work for me has a better work ethic than the previous. Jemima should not be allowed to practise. She should go to turkey and live her years out there doing her composite bonding, implants or whatever it is she’s trying to get people to have done and stay the hell away from older patients who have no inclination for this type of work.
Fantastic experience: Visited yesterday 14 May. Had some treatment handled by Usha. Never met such a pleasant and professional individual in all the years I have been going to the dentist. Usha has the perfect temperament for the job. Lovely person, and without criticism of any other staff members I would only want to see Usha.

Fantastic experience: Visited University Dental Care for my check up 30/4/24. This practice is excellent. All the staff are professional and friendly. My dentist is Usha, I cannot rate her highly enough, she is so professional, caring, gentle and friendly. Her work is excellent. The practice is in a great location, so handy for buses. Negative experience: The dentist was friendly and lovely, and the service attitude was great. They provided a good explanation of my dental condition. The only thing that caught me was that I came for an NHS appointment for examination. However, after it was done, the receptionist informed me that my service also included X-rays and enhanced treatment, which were not subsidized and charged for£27. This was my first time seeing a dentist in Scotland, and yet I'm quite certain that I wasn't informed about the charges beforehand, nor was I asked if I wanted those additional services. It made me feel that the service process was not very transparent and lacked respect.

The Nhs protocol is we take x-rays for all new patients , every 2 years for those wil low decay risk and once a year for those with high decay risk .
Your dentist Heather has got more than 20 years of clinical experience and we wouldn't do things which can't be justified clinically . Getting x-rays done and enhanced treatment (scaling ) is what we do for most of the patients during their check ups .
The dentists involved in your care did believe you understood the costs involved because you have signed the blue Gp 17 form which clearly says that you have to pay if you are over 26 years of age ( there are no subsidies for all nhs treatment) and there are posters in our waiting area clearly explaining about our Nhs and private charges . The thorough nhs check up you had here today was free of cost and that £27 was for your x-rays and scaling which could be clinically justified .
We are sorry again that if you felt our care was not transparent or lacked respect .

Fantastic experience: Today I had to visit the practice as last night, part of a lower molar sheared off leaving me with a very jaggy, uncomfortable tooth with sensitivity to cold and I was in a state of panic as it was only 6 days to Christmas, plus I have plans for the remaining days leading up to it so if I couldnt get seen today, what would I do ? I didnt want to really live with the tooth the way it was any longer than I had to ! Was offered an emergency appointment for later that day. Was seen by a new very friendly and fanstastic dentist called Heather. She quickly fixed my tooth and the cost was very minimal. What a relief ! I would have no hesitation seeing her again. I have also seen Usha a few times now, who has taken over my treatment from David Gilchrist, who was my dentist for almost 30 years. David retired, and I had been concerned if I would receive the same high standard of treatment. Well, I absolutely have. Usha is experienced, friendly, talks through the treatment, gives advice, she is amazing. All staff are friendly and a credit to the Practice. I feel I am in good hands still. A huge thank you for today especially. I was stressed, in discomfort and worried and you took good care of me very quickly which was super convenient.

Fantastic experience: As someone who suffered from an aversion to dentists due to a horror show school dentist way back in the 70's , this practise is great. The dentist had a very gentle wait about her and is mindful of patient needs. Even injections are done with care and consideration. If you are nervous with dentists and/or injections then this is the practice for you.

Fantastic experience: I've had a really good experience at this dentist. Parking on the Street is sometimes tricky but there is a cheap carpark 2 or 3 minutes walk away, and it alway has spaces.
