Fantastic experience: An outstanding practice with skilled practitioners. Amber was very gentle, explaining everything and she makes any visit stress free. I’d highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: The Gentle Touch have honestly given me my smile back! I've had post crowns on my front teeth for 30 years now, the last pair for 20 years, all because of an accident when I was a kid. When I got in touch with The Gentle Touch, I spoke with Beth, their treatment coordinator, who was absolutely lovely. She really listened to what I wanted and helped plan out all my appointments. First up, I had a crown lengthening procedure with Duncan Weir on my 6 front teeth. This involved reshaping the gum to reveal tooth surface that I didn't even know was hiding there! I was pretty nervous about the whole thing and worried about how it would heal. But I couldn't believe it, it was completely painless apart from one little numbing injection, even the healing was painless. My gums healed beautifully and the difference in the shape of my teeth was instant! After my gums healed completely, it was time to see Amber Aplin to get my front teeth ready for their makeover! She gently removed the old crowns and made sure everything underneath was in good shape to hold the new ones. Then she popped on some temporary crowns to tide me over. Two weeks later, I was back in the chair having my lovely new permanent crowns fitted. I am over the moon with the finished result and cannot stop smiling. I would recommend The Gentle Touch to anyone, everyone is so nice and amazing at what they do.

Also holding a horrid silver filling from a long time ago!!! Filling removed, tooth repaired and rebuilt… didn’t feel a thing!! Bloody marvellous service and treatment from Ciara and Emma at The Gentle Touch! Highly recommend this place wholeheartedly. Fantastic experience: Fantastic service from Gillian on reception this morning. Seeing that I had an appointment with Amber at 11.15am and aware that there was a hygienist cancellation for 10.30am, she phoned me and asked if I would like to take the hygienist slot today in place of my next planned appointment in November. Since I am in the middle of a series of dental visits over a six-week period, this clever thinking on Gillian's part has turned five trips from Duns to Kelso into four trips. The reception staff at the Gentle Touch are always excellent but this was extra special. I then had superb care today from Michelle (hygiene) and Amber (dental). Many thanks again, Gillian.

Fantastic experience: This was my first appointment at "The Gentle touch", and what a very pleasant experience it was. My dentist was Tarig, and he instantly put me at easy. He listened to my queries, and gave me a huge amount of good information. It was great to get a thorough M.O.T. and now have a good base level to work from. Fantastic experience: One of the hardest things about moving house is having to find new places like dentists too! The Gentle Touch was highly recommended to me and I have been most impressed. I have been delighted to experience Airflow dental cleaning which is such a welcome change from the more traditional tooth cleaning methods. Most of us don't look forward to dental visits but the team at Gentle Touch make it as pleasant as it can possibly be.

I have recently had biomimetic treatment with Amber and you would never imagine sitting in the dentist’s chair with a dental dam in your mouth for almost an hour could be so relaxing (I almost fell asleep). Everyone - from dentists to receptionists are so lovely and really make you feel at ease. The standard of treatment and quality of dentistry are excellent. I had a top plate made over a year ago but don’t wear it everyday, despite this it still fits every time I put it in. Yet previous NHS plates consistently wouldn’t fit if I hadn’t worn them for a while. If you are at all a nervous about going to the dentist, or making the jump to private, don’t hesitate to pick The Gentle Touch. I began my journey around 3-4 weeks ago and explained to Beth exactly what I wanted from my visit. Beth went above and beyond to ensure I was looked after and happy with everything on offer to me. She arranged my appointments so quickly and with no waiting whatsoever I simply can't thank her enough. When Beth wasn't around Ashley stepped in and was equally brilliant. Sorting appointments, explaining and generally being an ear to listen to me. Then the Dentist and Dental staff....i cannot fault any of them. Lyndsey my Dentist has been a god send. She is patient, empathetic and really shows she cares! Her dental assistants are always amazing too. Finally, Abbie who completed my Hygiene appointment. Very thoughtful, patient and caring. (I'm so sorry I can't remember everyone's name) I cannot thank this Dentist enough for everything they have done. From around 3-4 weeks ago I have 1 more appointment in 6 days and my treatment will already be complete. If there was a higher star rating than 5 this practice would absolutely qualify.

They were both so professional and caring, explaining everything clearly, which helped me stay relaxed. Even with the local anaesthetic and rubber dam in place, I felt comfortable the whole time—something I didn’t expect! It was a smooth, stress-free experience, and I can’t recommend them enough. Fantastic experience: As a recently retired dentist I can truly say that the standard of treatment provided by The Gentle Touch is of a standard that most dentists can only aspire to. The care which I recieved by my new dentist John Thompson and hygienists Michelle Paxton was excellent. The standard of work by the other 2 hygienists Abbie Frankland and Lynn Nash is equally good, I know this because they used to work for me. When I retired I made a beeline to the Gentle Touch as one of the few independent practices left in the borders run by a principal dentist dedicated to the care of the patients, Amber Aplin.

Fantastic experience: Last week Amber repaired my damaged tooth using the biomimetic restoration and onlay treatment. The whole procedure was clearly explained with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and the whole thing went really well. The tooth is looking amazing and feeling great - you'd need to be a dentist to know it wasn't a real, whole tooth. If you've a damaged tooth needing fixed I'd strongly recommend you discuss this option to see if it's suitable for you. Thank you very much to Amber and the team - a first class professional service - as always!

Fantastic experience: I had an onlay filling done replacing an old filling. I have not come across this type of filling before but I must say it is absolutely superb compared with the crown. It looks good, there are no edges on the tooth where it's difficult to clean , nor an unsightly black line of a crown where it meets the gum. It is in effect a new tooth, smooth and perfectly fitted and honed for bite and comfort. It makes you feel years younger and confident about your teeth.

Negative experience: I give this practice 2 stars fir the lovely staff who work here. My husband and I used to be patients years ago . The most wonderful dentist who had started the practice, was there. Then after a few years, he decided to leave and go to tte poorer countries and to avail of his services to those who were very needy. He always put put people first. After he left, it was taken over and NHS patients were refused. The Gentle Touch only wanted to deal with the wealthy elite of Scotland. NHS patients were told to pay privately or leave..We had to find a dentist elsewhere. We are fortunate in that there are many other dentists who accept NHS patients and are glad to help the needy in this country.. We go where, not only the prices are reasonable but these dentists care sbout ALL people and have the best up to date high tec machines as well. When this practise opened, the man who started it, who cared about people , would be turning over in disgust to see how greedy his practise has become.

As someone previously apprehensive about receiving dental treatment, I can say I have never felt more relaxed in a dental chair than I have at the gentle touch, dentists always ensure you are comfortable to the point of even almost falling asleep during a root canal which at other practices I’ve never felt even close to possible, the use of the rubber dam also makes a huge difference with nothing going to the throat during treatment making things so much more comfortable. after several treatments and previous bad experience in the dental chair at other places I highly recommend the gentle touch.

Fantastic experience: I joined the practice as a patient just last year at the recommendation of my daughter who had been with them for several years. I had developed a fear verging on a phobia of dental work over many years which spiked after an emergency appointment with the NHS during the pandemic and I can honestly say all the staff I have come into contact with so far have been very kind and patient with me. I have had quite an intensive course of treatment involving many dreaded injections but my fear lessened each visit following their truly gentle touch.

The dental therapists are always amazing - gentle but incredibly effective, leaving me with beautifully clean teeth. Fantastic experience: Today I visited the Gentle Touch dental practice for an appointment to repair a broken tooth. Humorously I always refer to the dentist surgery as the “Torture Chamber” but today was peaceful, calm and totally painless. Amber has the gentle touch. I didn’t even feel the needle injections to freeze around my damaged tooth. Amber used the rubber dam to isolate the tooth. I like this procedure as it helps to take away the need to keep your jaw open and rested over an extended period. Infact closing my eyes while the drilling and filling progressed I could have fallen asleep! I am extremely pleased with the treatment and care I received from the team this morning.

Fantastic experience: I’ve just had my first visit to the Hygienist and I can honestly say that this is the most gentle treatment I have ever had! I have very sensitive gums so normally the Airflow treatment is torture as the water is so cold. Not the case here as they heat the water which actually made the treatment a pleasure. Fantastic experience: Made an appointment at The Gentle Touch to have an airflow treatment to clean my teeth before my wedding. I was nervous beforehand but the staff were very welcoming, friendly and professional and talked me through each step. Not only that, the hygienist even picked up on a possible small hole in one of my teeth that my regular NHS dentist has not noticed during my check ups.
