Fantastic experience: The staff here are so amazing! I came with my three year old son in tow today who was very upset about me having a scan.. The dental nurse completely turned all that around by sitting down and chatting away with him, putting Bluey on the big screen in the waiting room and making balloons out of surgical gloves. By the time I came out my son was entertaining the whole waiting room with songs, jokes and dancing! I was dreading today as I had two dental appointments back to back and this support from the staff made all the difference. Thank you so so much

However, the treatment was excellent and I was made to feel at ease by the hygienist, who was very gentle and thorough. The reception team were also very helpful and welcoming.

Positive experience: Have been with the surgery for many years, have recently had to change dentist due our dentist leaving after the birth of her baby, now with Jenni Morrell, only two course of treat to date but very happy with surgery overall. The Surgery is now Private only which is very disappointing and difficult to afford for pensioners on basic state pension.

The process was explained at every stage and all my questions answered patiently. The nurses are all fabulous and a real credit to the clinic. I highly recommend Dart Vale if you are thinking of having an implant.

Negative experience: If it were possible to give 0 stars this would have been. DON'T ACCEPT APPOINTMENTS FROM BRUCE TURNER. Bruce Turner is my mothers dentist and he reccomended that she have a front tooth pulled out as it was a bit wobbly (despite casuing her no pain), then glued back in place with the expectancy that this would last at least 10 years if not more. She trusted his judgement and went ahead with it. 2 months later it fell out, she went back and he insisted that she paid again for both treatment and appointment (approx £300 each time) after finally agreeing to fix it for free he did an awful job, tooth completely in the wrong place and sticking out, it really looks awful and is not practical, it's even causing more pain and discomfort. He refused to do anything about it and told her to leave when she complained how awful it looked and felt. The lovely receptionist and dental nurse checked she was okay as she was visibly upset and didn't ask for any payment and said she can go back again for free, which is brilliant however only with the same dentist again which is causing her a lot of stress as he messed it up so bad the last two times. I don't have much against the company as a whole but whatever you do, don't accept an appointment with Bruce Turner!!

Fantastic experience: I had forgotten how good a proper fitting denture can be - it’s as near to perfect and comfortable as I can imagine- and does not fly out of my mouth when I shout thank you Ranju and bless you all for your care and attention Tim Willoughby xx

Negative experience: It is absolutely shocking that my 92 year old father who has been a patient with Dart Vale for decades has been told that he is no longer eligible to be treated by Dart Vale. He was last seen before covid and since then his wife has died and his dementia has developed. Yesterday he lost a tooth and he remembers his dentist and is very comfortable with the prospect of revisiting them, only to be told there's no space for him. We now have to explain to him that he cant be seen, and we have to go through the process of trying to locate someone who will. He has very little money and is in pain. I appreciate that the practices have been amalgamated, but struggle with the fact that any sense of care and loyalty to existing patients, particularly elderly and infirm, has gone by the board. Shame on you Dart Vale!

Fantastic experience: Awesome group of people. Thank you all for today. My toddler had a complete meltdown about coming and everyone was totally understanding. They managed to have him smiling and causing chaos as usual by the time we left. They made what could of been a very stressful situation better! My dentist and assistant were amazing too, even coming to the car to try and help him in. Super super thankful!

Negative experience: After years of great service from the same dentist , I find the standard line given out and now obvious pretense that 100's of NHS registered patients would be reallocated a new NHS dentist once employed was very devious. When what was actually happening was privatisation and 100's of local long standing patent suddenly dumped while thinking they would be registered with a new dentist Shocking and very unprofessional.

Negative experience: The dentist was 25 minutes late seeing. I was about to leave. I was charged £315 for a filling! The price is from £169. So because the dentist put a random word (compound) in front of filling. Which I have no idea what it means. I was charged nearly twice the listed price.

Fantastic experience: Rang today to see if they could pull my sons tooth out as in lots of pain to be told no they don't do it its private patients only and he's not registered with them

Negative experience: My appointment was the first one in the day and I was left waiting for 20 minutes before I was seen, I then felt like my check up wasn't as thorough as I have been used to.

Negative experience: I’ve paid a lot of money to have the Invisalign done here and thought it was a good practice. My treatment was coming to an end towards the end of the year and so was told they’ll contact me in Jan, I had to chase them up several times (quite hard when they barely answer the phone), finally got an appointment with a different dentist who didn’t seem very up to date with my treatment… and said my retainer would be ready in 2 weeks, still waiting… I’ve been wearing the same Invisalign since November (they are meant to be changed weekly) and the worst part is that they only message me because I still have the last bit to pay for my treatment, VERY DISAPPOINTING

Fantastic experience: Incredible service from the team at Dart Vale. They were able to accept us as new patients and provide an appointment within 1 week to deal with a badly rotten 5 year old’s tooth which had abscessed. My NHS dentist had previously failed to fill it properly and also failed to extract the tooth after waiting nearly 3 weeks for an appointment and further being placed on a waiting list for hospital removal for over 2 months! Guru and staff were incredibly patient when trying to persuade my son to have the tooth out (second attempt) which they removed with ease once he complied. Saved us a trip to the hospital and a general anaesthetic which no doubt would have been even more traumatic. Thank you to all the team at Dart Vale!

Negative experience: I’ve had a filling done which has now fallen out twice with this practice…paid for it each time, now having to have it fixed for the third time I’ve asked for another dentist to do this work…I am in pain with an open tooth for 1 month and have been calling many times, imposible to get through and when I do get through I get told I will get a call back… waiting for this call back which is long over due, it seems this practice has dropped me, completely unethical!

Fantastic experience: Molly was super efficient and got me booked in with Guru for an emergency fix to my Bridge, Guru fixed my Bridge and then gave me options for a permanent fix..quick and proffesional.

Negative experience: Stopped seeing NHS patients but only told them by a message on their website. No letter, no email, no sms, cancelled appt and no response to request for another.

Negative experience: The worst dental experience I've ever had. Claire Critchley failed to extract my tooth after 45 mins of intense pressure, causing a chronic joint pain (that's not going away a year later), severe swelling/bruising and a lot of mental distress. Shortly after, Guru Bangari's offered me to get sedated and perform a surgery (cutting into my gums) for the same tooth. I felt both didn't take me seriously and were grinning away when I raised my concerns about TMJ (joint) pain. I refused any further treatment from either of them and changed the clinic - the tooth's been removed within 5mins using local anaesthesia only by another dentist. He knew Claire and said that she takes care of children's teeth and shouldn't have agreed to performing any tooth extractions for adults. Highly disappointed by all this, didn't even receive a compensation for the damage done.

Negative experience: Happy with the treatment, however it is a real fight to get a NHS appointment. I lost my filling and my tooth broke afterwards and then had to be removed. If I had an earlier appointment or checks this may have not happen.

Negative experience: I went to Pure Dental as they are Known As the best Treatment in the area I was told by a very good Dentist That I would get a full refund by the end of the week BUT this had not happened I've been waiting for a Refund now for 3 months now and I'm the one that has to call about to find out what's going on?? the week

Fantastic experience: Had a tooth extracted that I've been refusing to have removed for 15 years due to fear. I was in zero pain during and after and have never had such an easy and painless experience with a dentist. Highly highly recommend.

Negative experience: Utterly appalled that Portman Dental has ceased all NHS appointments. 4+ year waiting list for any NHS dentist and now none left in Totnes. So many families with Young children depend on the NHS service to be able to afford dental care of their children. Shame on you!

Fantastic experience: Everything was fine very professionally and with minimum fuss. I felt safe and the procedures were explained to me carefully, both prior to the appointment, on my arrival and throughout my hygienist appointment.

Also he listens to you. His nurse Jana is a delight and always makes you feel comfortable. She has excellent customer service skills. Negative experience: Very disappointed with service at Dartvale, going from an nhs to private patient has not been straight forward. Surely the patient should be able to decide what dental plan they want to pay for? I used to have one nhs check up per year (which would be a £12.95 per month on a private dental plan) but now I’m a private patient my dentist is insisting I have 2 visits per year costing £21.95 per month. I don’t want to pay that much and am happy with 1 visit per year, at the moment I’m waiting to hear if my dentist will accept this…why should he decide how much I pay and not me!!

Fantastic experience: Very professional, treatment was painless, keeps you informed and care taken during treatment process. Great place to go for anyone that is afraid of the dentist.

Negative experience: The two receptionists on duty were absolutely lovely. I couldn't fault them and they supported me when I was having an attack of anxiety. It's sad though that Charlotte has left because she's got to know us over the years and she totally understands my anxiety about waiting, my hyperhidrosis and even recent diagnosis of autism. But because she'd left there was nobody in the practise to forewarn me. So my experience last week was an absolute horror show (apart from the lovely receptionists who saved the day). Nobody told us or warned us about building works so already had to walk into a stressful crowded area in reception and it triggered a hyperhidrosis attack. I had to go off and change in the toilets but not really easy to change all clothes in toilet especially with no hooks or chair in there. Then we were early and dentist running late. So I had a meltdown. Then the dentist's door was open and he still wasn't calling me in so I had a fractious moment with him and he didn't even know who I was and then was in tears when I was called in a few minutes later. I don't find him empathic but have to put up with it because he's the only NHS dentist and it's better than not having one. Then in the dentist chair the doors were wide open and there was horrendous banging of slabs right behind me which made me wince in the chair and moan and cover my ears and the dentist only closed the doors much later. I wish the practice manager had warned us about this. It was an autistic's nightmare and we can suffer terribly from sensory issues eg loud noises, pain as well as waiting and changes eg building works. At the very least we should have been told and prepared. This is an update from my much better experience earlier in the year

Negative experience: On time, friendly, professional. All good. UPDATE … UPDATE … unfortunately, Dart Vale Dental have now turfed out a sizeable number of their previously N.H.S.registered patients, obliging them to go private since the nearest N.H.S. dentist now is apparently either Gloucester or Bournemouth. No doubt a business decision by Dart Vale Dental, but pretty harsh on those who struggle to afford private dental fees.

Fantastic experience: I was welcomed by very pleasant receptionist's who were very helpful & understanding. A downstairs Dental Surgery was made available for me as I'm unable to climb stairs. My Dentist & her technician were very understanding & made me feel quite relaxed as I have a fear of the Dentist ( not the Dentist). I would definitely recommend this practise.

Negative experience: I have just, after 4 years settled my court case against a dentist you had working at your practice as an NHS dentist who then practiced dreadful cataclysmic work on me as a private patient. He charged me nearly 7 THOUSAND POUNDS and when l asked for the practice to support me l got no assistance whatsoever, in fact on numerous occasions the phone was simply put down on me by the then practice "manager". He left l was told 3 years later, two weeks after my original complaint went to the practice, he is now apparently still working, luckily for your patients now. He has been found negligent by the GDC and l have subsequently lost ALL my upper teeth. The treatment l received from Mr Irshad, the practice manager and pure dental was so dreadful l have received treatment for PTSD on top of having all the dreadful work he did to me removed, as you can imagine has been life altering and I'm actually not sure if I'll ever be better. I felt so let down by "pure dental care" all the doors shut and l was left fighting for my money and my rights to not be ruined, l trusted you, you all let me down.......

Negative experience: Even though I am registered with Pure dental as an NHS patient, I am now unable to have a cracked tooth perminently filled (I did have a temporary filling) as they now only cover emergencies on the NHS) I also cannot even have the treatment as private patient at Pure Dental as I would then lose my NHS registration. I find it bizarre that after years of being told how important routine check-ups are, they no longer offer this for NHS patients. The reception staff are friendly though and explained the situation well.

As she ages, so he has managed to keep her comfortable, supported and to always feel in control, whilst we work together in the background to ensure she is well cared for. Fantastic experience: Have been getting consistent high quality treatment for a number of years now. Have gone from having massive fears and anxiety about visiting the dentist - to actually looking forward to my appointments. Always get a 5 star service, based on an exceptional patient-centred approach, jargon-free consultations and lots of calming reassurance. Have also needed a couple urgent emergency appointments over the years and they have given super-speedy appointments. I would highly, highly recommend Pure Dental Care to anyone reading this. Azud is a superb dentist - I still have most of my teeth because of him!

Positive experience: As always, she did a brilliant job. However, £75 for around 15 mins work is considerably more expensive than most private hourly therapy sessions, so while it’s a very good service, I’d not recommend it unless someone was loaded or in real need to sort out their teeth.

Fantastic experience: Always an excellent service at Dart Vale. Our detist Jenny is particularly lovely and patient and makes what used to be a traumatic event almost(!) enjoyable. The whole environment is calming and welcoming - treatment rooms are of great size which has not been my experience with other practices. The reception staff are always helpful and accomodating and we have found getting appointments straightforward and within a good timescales. We have had a couple of dental emergencies and have been seen and dealt with the same day. Highly recommend this practice especially if you are nervous!
