Fantastic experience: Good
Negative experience: Service has declined rapidly over last couple of years as other reviews have also shared. Moving appointments with little notice, explanation or clearly telling you the appointment has moved. Appointments for my sons cancelled with no explanation and not rebooked (dentist had left). Recently can only get the answerphone, calls used to be answered.

Negative experience: Absolutely no communication from this place. The NHS dentist went private without informing any of his patients—just cancelled all appointments and disappeared. No courtesy, no updates, nothing. If you value your time and health, look elsewhere. This kind of treatment is unacceptable. Then had a cheek if you wanna book with him privately, rather not give the joke of a man my money

Fantastic experience: Undergone a composite bonding procedure to restore my upper and lower teeth sensitivity. Was impressed by the overall service and was extremely happy with the end result and keeping a natural look. Would recommend Pyae Aung and his assistant , thank you.
Negative experience: I have been with this dental practice for about three years. My usual dentist, Javirria Suffi, has always been excellent and I never had any problems with her. However, due to my work schedule I had to see another dentist, Samuel Nong, and the experience was very disappointing. I was charged £54 for a check-up. He told me my old fillings were dark and unhealthy and advised removing and re-doing all of them, quoting me over £600. No X-ray was taken, and no actual treatment was done that day. I found this shocking, so I went to a private dentist for a second opinion. After proper X-rays, I was told my teeth are completely fine and that replacing good fillings could actually cause more harm, such as sensitivity or pain. This left me feeling that the advice I received was unprofessional and not in my best interest. Sadly, after this experience I no longer feel confident continuing with this practice.

Positive experience: Nice dentists and helpful reception staff, however I don't think they should have charged me a further check up fee to look at an under-tongue swelling resulting from earlier treatment.
Fantastic experience: So I have pretty bad dental anxiety - even a basic cleaning will send me to tears at just the thought of it because of everything involved (tools/sounds/pain element) I originally had a sedation appointment booked for August because I was THAT scared of it all that I thought it would be easier to sedate me and crack on that way, but with growing concerns about my gum health, I just had to bite the bullet. Speaking to Charlene and Sheri at the reception desk about what options I had as a private patient on a budget, reliant on pay day etc, as well as which dentist would be best suited to my needs, we agreed that Chris the dentist would be great for me as he’s good with anxious patients. They were both incredibly understanding and genuinely wanted to help me find options to better look after myself, ease my anxiety and get something booked in for me. I want to thank all 3 of them because today, with topical numbing cream and injections (HATE needles) as well as the cleaning itself, I couldn’t have had a better experience and I am actually looking forward to my next appointment! I will be setting up a smile plan on pay day to get regular thing going and work on my anxieties with the dentist because I’m looking at my teeth and absolutely beaming!!! So happy with how they look and feel (even if I can’t feel my cheek) Chris was not only really good at helping ease the anxieties with communication about what he’s going to do why and when, he was also honest, he left the choice up to me, so I had that element of control still. But not in a “here’s all the problems and here’s what I can do”, more of a “here’s what I need to do for your sake, here are the ways we can do that for you” Brilliant man, brilliant team, I can’t wait to see them again in August! Thank you Bupa Downend!!! ❤️
Negative experience: As a new patient, I had two appointments cancelled at extremely short notice without explanation. Furthermore, I was asked to complete my health details twice, once for each appointment! I had a long way to travel so this was very disruptive, and I won’t be using this practice again.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, caring staff from reception team to clinical staff. My hygienist Javirria and dental nurse treated me with kindness and respect. The treatment was carried out efficiently, professionally and gently. This made it a positive experience. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Nong and the nurse did a great job! It was a cosmetic procedure on my front teeth and it was my first time in the clinic, thus I was quite apprehensive but they look just amazing and I'm very grateful! Highly recommend them!

Negative experience: Had a cancelled appointment, with very little notice and no explanation through the post. Enquired to rebook the appointment, to find my dentist has gone to private patients only since January (Fair enough for him). This has left myself without a dentist. I had the appointment booked six months in advance, and have not been notified about the change of service which took place three months ago now. From reading the reviews posted this seems to be a reoccurring issue. My family still have a NHS dentist at the practice, but I have been left to sit on a waitlist for if and when they hire a new dentist on an NHS contract or find a new practice. Awful communication and management.

Negative experience: Horrendous service. No customer care. No consideration. I had a dental appointment cancelled, only to find out months later that one of the dentists decided not to take on NHS anymore. My appointment wasn’t rebooked, I wasn’t referred to another dentist, I received no communication that I’d been dropped, and I was waiting for nothing. Only found out when I went in person, because they never answer their phones.

Negative experience: I had an appointment booked for the end of last year, they cancelled the appointment with no explanation as to why it was cancelled. I’ve rang numerous times since to get another appointment booked but no one ever answers the phone. I was on the phone today for 40 minutes before I gave up then tried again in the afternoon but still no luck. Now having to go well out my way and go into the practice to book an appointment which is fine but very inconvenient. What’s the point of giving a phone number if no one answers it!!!

Jackie went the extra mile to arrange an emergency appointment for me & kept me updated regarding the day and time to attend. Fantastic experience: After reading some other reviews I was shocked, I’ve only ever received excellent and professional care in the 10 years I’ve been a patient here, the receptionists are always friendly and happy and always make an effort to engage with my children, at my most recent appointment I couldn’t get child care so my dentist put teletubbies on his computer for my 3 year old and the dental nurses were happy to have a cuddle with my 8 week old baby while I was being treated! That’s what I call good customer service! I’ve also dealt with the practice manager about a payment plan and I found her to be professional and friendly with a great passion for the practice. Fantastic experience: Today I had a initial consultation and first check up with Pyae Aung. I am a very nervous dental patient but I can honestly say he made me feel so much at ease, did such a thorough check up and cannot thank him enough. Negative experience: After being there for ~30 years they removed me from the NHS list because they cancelled an appointment and then were not contactable after calling many times over an extended period (two different callers). When trying to explain this they were not sympathetic and did not care. Terrible service.

Negative experience: If I could give this dentist 0 I would, so they cancel you're appointment (they give no reason for this) tells you to call them to reschedule. Laughable, they don't even answer there phones, I have tried for weeks on end to no avail. Left countless voice messages, nothing. Terrible service, avoid!

Positive experience: Was a nice and clean looking dentist from outside and inside,I haven't had my teeth looked at for 10 years due to money problems,now I can! But due to not knowing I couldn't get my teeth looked at due to a coldsore, I wasn't aware they had this protocol in place,would of been nice for them to notify me about this over phone or email,but they sadly didn't,a tab bit annoyed that I have to wait a month for my next appointment,let's hope I do not have anther coldsore by then,but in genual they did talk me though what I might need done on my next appointment wich I loved and appreciated

Fantastic experience: I called Tuesday morning after three days of extreme pain and sleeplessness. The dental emergency number leaving me constantly waiting, I took the liberty of calling different dentists for an emergency appointment, after many refusals from other dentist, the receptionist having understood and heard my distress succeeded in giving me an appointment urgently with one of the dentist at the clinic. I would like to thank the whole team again, which has been wonderful. I don't know what I would have done without them, thank you for your kindness, understanding and help. I can only recommend this clinic to you. Thanks again!!!

Negative experience: I've just been informed that my Mother who is an 89 Yr old pensioner/ widow and suffering from dementure, is no longer able to retain her National Health status for dental appointments, and must now become a private patient. . Apparently, this is because she hasn't been seen within the last two years, not that I've been informed it was a requirement (she simply wouldn't comprehend the rule, even if contacted). It's clear, these people have zero regard for the elderly and infirm. Imagine if you were 89 years old, and you lost your bottom set of dentures and were unable to chew as a result. the frustration of being told you have to become a private patient on a basic pension.

Negative experience: My daughter had a bad tooth so initially made an emergency appointment which was then cancelled twice making it not an emergency appointment .wsd then told they couldn't do anything and gave her antibiotics and charged £140 for that.so took herbtovanoyhet dentist and had it taken out for £86,should of gone there in the first place .not a good dentist and quite rude

Fantastic experience: I recently attended Bupa Dental Care Downend for the first time after neglecting dental visits for more years than I'd like to admit, due to my fear of the dentist. I received a lovely warm welcome from Sheri, and this really put me at ease as soon as I had walked through the door! I was then seen by Pyae Aung and I cannot recommend him enough! There was no judgement from Pyae, and he took the time to explain every single step of the procedure before doing anything, this was really calming and reassuring. I'm pleased to say that I no longer fear the dentist and I would really recommend this practice and Pyae if you're in the same position! Thank you so much.

Positive experience: I always find a very warm welcome if I’m greeted by Sherilyn. Very helpful & kind. The other receptionists should take lessons from her how to treat customers !. I would also like to give credit to Shiloo the dentist. She treats both my elderly parents with kindness & respect. Lovely lady. I personally see Vagisha de Zoysa & I’ve always found her to be friendly, welcoming & thorough. Would thoroughly recommend both dentists. I would have given 5 stars if all the receptionists gave the same customer experience as Sherilyn. We have been attending this practice for many years. Customer service at reception has always been a problem.

Fantastic experience: Such a great experience today Dr Galpin and Yana, went above and beyond, whilst booking my husband a further treatment, Yana saw the Dr Galpins next appointment had been cancelled, she went in and spoke to the dentist and we were invited back in there an then for the treatment. Even though the whole team are under pressure, everyone one of them had a smile and were extremely professional and kind. My husband has young Dementia and what could have been a difficult experience was made much easier. 5 star review for a great team. Thank you

Positive experience: Waited 15 minutes to see the Dentist, waiting room Full, as they have taken the Conservatory for staff. Not what you want with Covid on the Rise.
