Fantastic experience: Always a friendly welcome and Very comfortable atmosphere this is the best dentist and dental practice ever, I highly recommend Occudental in Sheffield

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at this practice for around six years. During that time, Michelle was an absolutely fantastic dentist friendly, professional, and someone who genuinely cared about her patients. Since she moved on, however, the level of service has noticeably declined. I see the hygienist every four months, and when I recently needed to cancel my appointment for 4th November, I was told the next available slot wouldn’t be until February 2026. That’s nearly four months later similar to NHS waiting times which is simply not acceptable for a private dental practice. I also used to be able to attend on Saturdays, which made things far easier without having to take time off work. That flexibility now seems to have completely eroded, making it much harder to fit appointments around a normal working week. It feels like the practice has become overstretched and impersonal, with little consideration for long-standing patients who have supported them for years. The personal service and efficiency that once set them apart have unfortunately disappeared. After many years of loyalty, it’s disappointing to see such a drop in standards. I’ll now be looking for a new dentist one that values its patients, offers realistic appointment availability, and maintains a level of care worthy of a private practice.

As most toddlers, my son can be challenging and she was so patient, kind and caring. She was extremely knowledgable and really gave me confidence and reassurance in the treatment. Fantastic experience: What’s better than 1 excellent appointment? Answer? 3 excellent appointments! I booked 2 consecutive Mondays in June and 1 in July to complete another part of my treatment plan. Heather is my dentist who is very friendly, happy and positive and this makes for a fantastic atmosphere that really puts me at ease. I felt completely relaxed and comfortable during these appointments and it felt more like dropping in to see a friend for a chat rather than to have any dental work done, it was that good. I’m really pleased with all the treatment I’ve received to date at this practice. So once again, thank you Heather and Occudental!!

Fantastic experience: All staff are great. I’ve had to bring my baby a few times and the staff have been supportive and great with her. It’s meant my baby has stayed happy and calm and I’ve managed to keep my appt and get the care (which is excellent) I need.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing dentist! I am VERY nervous and have a phobia of dentists from trauma in childhood which makes visits near impossible but they make it such a calm environment. I dont have regular check ups and only ever go for emergencies due to the phobia but im now making plans to book for a chec up and to keep going back. I see hannah ans she is amazing!

Fantastic experience: I was professionally seen to by Jess and assistant and treated for fillings and cleaning in a courteous and caring way, being kept informed of what was happening throughout. I have also been given follow up advice and contacts for further help concerning my TMJ. Update Mar 2025 A good visit for a routine check up and deep clean. Dentist Claire is very competent, professional and makes me feel at ease. Assistant was also good. A nice relaxing practice environment. No wait time. Easy to arrange appointments for when it suits my schedule. I'd have no hesitation to recommend Occudental. Update Sep 2025 Great treatment again from Claire and assistant for two fillings and a clean. The whole procedure was straightforward, relatively painless and smooth. Kept informed at all times. I would have no hesitation to recommend Occudental.

Not that many work on Saturdays so that is a plus saw a young lady who was great took x ray decided tooth needed pulling. Did it straight away no pain with needles . Tooth came out no problems great service cannot recommend enough

Dr Jess Naik is so excellent that I've been travelling from out of area to be treated by her for over 3 years now. I got an emergency appointment very quickly this week and I wanted to express my continued gratitude to the team.

Fantastic experience: Having moved to Sheffield recently I was recommended to Occudental. I would imagine I am not alone in being anxious about the dentist and never looking forward to going. However, from making the initial appointment and going for my check-up, to going back for treatment (broke a tooth) the staff have been very welcoming and friendly explaining everything that is going to happen and why. You are very quickly put at ease and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist in and around Sheffield.

Fantastic experience: I called as I had terrible tooth ache, it was a Saturday and they were fully booked but took my number incase of a cancellation. I literally was called 20 minutes later as the receptionist had spoken to Ric about me who decided with a cancellation he could squeeze me in. I’m a nervous patient after a bad experience elsewhere a few years ago! Ric and his team were amazing so lovely with me and got me all sorted!! I have to go back for part 2 and I’m not scared at all and really appreciate Ric saying he’ll finish the job although not taking on new clients himself! Restored my faith thank you

Fantastic experience: I have been using Occudental for the past four years, and always seen the same dentist (Ric). This has proved such a great and valued service. In fact, a perfect balance between 'cost' and 'value'. As everyone knows your teeth are so important! The famous funk singer James Brown said it best "A man got teeth, he got hair - he got it all". Well, my hair is all still there, and I have had some smallish but vital cosmetic work which has been life-enhancing, some great low-cost maintenance and a vitally important tooth saved from the great 'pliers in the sky'. Can't recommend this service or Ric, highly enough.

Positive experience: I had 2 visits at one day: examination and hygienist cleaning, examination was perfect, the doctor was very attentive, checked everything. But cleaning was bad, I had glue on my teeth left after braces, I expected it would be removes, but hygienist didn't have any tools for it, she even didn't notice some big parts of glue until I said about it, and left all my teeth rough. Also I had little gum inflammation, she cleaned spaces between teeth very roughly, so I had a lot of blood, my gum inflamed and increased after the visit, so I could not sleep in my retainers and had pain all night after the visit.

After receiving great service myself, I recommended my them to my brother-in-law following a broken front tooth while mountain biking. Jess saw him the same week and off the back of the flawless filling had done, my mother-in-law has now enquired for composite bonding too. Will always recommend this practise.

Negative experience: Took £105 for a 5 minute glue up of a slightly detached permanent retainer on one side (costs £15-20 in Bulgaria). But not before making the wrong appointment for making a new plastic retainer and appointing me an orthodontist who isn’t trained to do permanent retainers... And ultimately making me late for a meeting because of having to wait for the other ortho to become available. I rarely give out 1 star reviews, but after phoning them for 20 minutes now trying to make another emergency appointment (for the same reason), I got annoyed. You can’t even reach them in working hours due to emergency - can’t even do one thing right ‍♀️ The location is the only thing good about this practice. If you’re not having an emergency, I would recommend flying out of the country to see a good dentist, since the prices and especially the quality of treatment is light years ahead.

Fantastic experience: Nice, small practice in Sheffield opposite Weston Park Museum. Well presented. Situated upstairs above a coffee shop, but has a lift if needed. Has its own car park. Staff professional and friendly. I liked the fish tank in the waiting room. Relaxing to watch the fish!

Negative experience: It's been three years now since my appointment at this practice and I am so glad I never listened to a word they said. Came in with a strange feeling in my front tooth and they claimed I would need a root canal and crown put over it. Turns out it was just a rough edge on top of a composite that was causing bacteria to build up and inflame gums. The woman who looked at my teeth asked me to leave the room to speak to another dentist and upon returning I will never forget how different the air felt. She knew what she was planning on doing and should be ashamed of herself for wanting to mutilate my face just to earn a few extra quid. Thankfully I got a second opinion and the other dentist just shook their head and said places like this are what give dentist bad reputations. This practice puts profits before patients. You will notice the high reviews as many of the customers use private company dental insurance meaning they are never effected by the bill giving the practice freedom to be as greedy as they please. If you are paying out of pocket be very weary of these people as they will have no remorse in mutilating you for their own personal gain.

Occudental on Western Bank offers: first-rate professional work; top quality preventative treatment and advice; friendly staff who put you at your ease; well-priced and part of Denplan; brilliant swift responses when emergencies arise; and you are always seen promptly and punctually. I'd never go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have used the practice for a few years now. 1st class professional service and have rectified several long standing and emergency issues quickly and without fuss. You pay a monthly fee, but as with anything, you get what you pay for. Recommended.

Negative experience: I have just changed dentist within Occudental as my previous dentist left. I have just been for my first check up with the new dentist Clare, and brought my 19 month old son for a quick check at the same time, as advised by previous dentist. The dentist has just charged me £29 for my sons 60 second check (in addition to my charges). I have changed dentist. FYI My previous dentist and my wife's dentist didn't charge for a quick check for my son. The practice said its down to each dentist individually, which is very inconsistent. I have not had a problem with any other services at Occudental, the staff are very friendly

Fantastic experience: Where to start!?!? My partner and I made appointments for Occidental over 10 years ago, bless her! She had a tooth ache and was scared to death of Dentist's! We sat down and had a lengthy chat with Richard who put Jane's mind at ease and we've never looked back! The staff are always well mannered, polite and helpful. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is welcoming and pleasant. We decided a long time ago between the pair of us that we wouldn't go anywhere else.x

Fantastic experience: I initially visited Ric in Spring 2017 before my Autumn wedding with a troublesome tooth. Due to poor historic experiences at other dentists I was naturally anxious but put my faith in Ric based on his experience and that it was a private practice. Ric put me at ease so, so much I cannot express into words. Fast forward 5 years and I unfortunately have had numerous issues relating to sinuses and my teeth, but each visit has me leaving with a huge smile and weight off my shoulders. I enter the building a nervous wreck each time but the second I am sat in that chair after a little 5 min chat with Ric I am breathing calm and feel in extremely safe and capable hands. Ric has so much care and compassion for his patients, as well as high level expertise that sort any dental issues out immediately. He is thorough and genuinely interested in your health and wellbeing.

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming patient and accommodating. I haven't been to the dentist in over 15 years and I knew I needed a lot of work. The last time I did go to the dentist it was a bad experience - the dentist was awful to me and very judgemental and very much just after money. Speaking of prices, although they are higher than NHS they are reasonable, even with the amount of work I need. The dentist discussed various options and didn't try to push expensive procedures on me. As an Autistic person, they were very patient and explained things clearly. The dentist set out a treatment plan which spread out the procedures to spread the cost over several months.
