Negative experience: I was a client of the previous dentist at Forge Farm as it was previously known. He retired after me being with him for 31 years about 18 months ago. Fantastic experienced dentist. He sold to the current practice and Iwas referred to another dentist there. They told me after a check up that my gums were not up to scratch and I would need to be seen every 3 months. I’d never been asked todo this before...ever. I went back after 3 months and was told everything was ok so to return in six months. I returned after 6 months and was examined whereby the dentist said she could see what could be potentially decay behind the bridge on one of the supporting teeth of a bridge I had had in quite some years ago with the previous dentist. They got a couple of mirrors and tried to show me the point of concern where the apparent decay was but I could not tell from the angle I was at and how the mirrors were being placed. I was told that there needed to be investigation into some x-rays that had been taken to see how far the possible decay had spread and that they appreciated that this was not the news that I wanted to hear. I asked what my options were should the tooth be irreparable and they said either a palette or implants if we have to take the tooth out and with a large price tag of approx well over 2k per implant. I was distraught. A. About potentially losing 3 teeth and B. The costs. I was told to make a follow up appointment when I went to reception to pay the check up bill. This was Monday tea time. I was told an appointment was available at 9.00 on Wednesday. I went home In tears to my hubby. He told me to seek a 2nd opinion. Which I researched for the most reputable experienced private dentist I could find who had 33 years reconstructive dentistry and implant industry experience. On visiting them I had an initial hour long (in the chair) consultation where a thorough check and dental record was created. I explained why I was there. They asked if the decay had been spotted by examining my teeth or by looking at an x-ray. I told them the full story. They could not find anything apparent resembling anything like decay there. I returned for in-depth x-rays surrounding the bridge where the dentist then looked through them in zoom and 360 degrees for a considerable amount of time. I also had a descale and polish by the hygienist. They found nothing. I will not be returning to the Practice at Malin Bridge. They caused me a considerable amount of stress and worry for what appears to be no reason. I now wonder that if I had kept that appointment with them what the outcome would have been taking into account their version of what they said appeared to be there. I received a follow up letter saying there was concern that I had not kept the appointment. ***************** 5 year on……. I’ve been with my current dentist for 5 years now, the same one I set up with after the issue with Malin Bridge. He’s been fantastic! Thorough and knowledgeable. Explaining everything at each check up. The practice has kept my teeth in tip top condition. Fortunately for me, I’ve still got that same bridge in! So I was right to get a second opinion. It saved me a lot of worry, teeth and money!

She makes me feel relaxed, is really caring and gentle and I spend most of appointment laughing. She is a total asset to the practice

Also a mention to the dental nurses who assisted ,they were fantastic.

Negative experience: Went few wks ago for check up with to previous work about 6/7 month ago. Woman who I seen Elizabeth. Told me was in flamed still and had to wait. Ok waited. So booked in for check up. Got moved to another dentist. But on that day my appointment was 1450 they called me up at 1400 to cancel. It. Thought we had to give 24 hr notice. ? Then I got in later then scheduled had word with manager asking y as this taken so long. She told me that on my re port. That Elizabeth offered me to put the cap on my tooth. She never offered me that.but she wrote it on her re port. And now av just spent over an hr ringing them up to sort this letter out and left msg on there answer phone and no one as got bck as yet. You telling me that no one was in reception. In that time this is ridiculous performance from. Them.

Negative experience: Once we got in, my son and I received personalised attention from Coralie Hobbs whom I can’t praise enough. It was the getting in that was the problem. Your reception staff were at turns indifferent and actively obstructive. Because they never answer the telephone or email, and because the option to leave a telephone message instead disconnects the caller, my only option for making the appointment was calling in person. In retrospect this intransigence ought perhaps to have warned me off. Nevertheless, I persisted, because I had recently enrolled in Bupa Dental Choice 1 (never again!) through my employer and because the list of charges was less than that of Ecclesall Bupa office. On the day of our appointments, for which we had waited two months, I received a phone call from your office informing me that if I did not pay in advance by 2pm that same day then our 4pm appointments would be cancelled. I asked how to pay and was told that a web link had been sent to my phone by SMS. My phone is not a smartphone and does not connect to the web; any links sent to it must be painstakingly transcribed by hand onto a computer. I told your staff, politely but firmly, that I am not a deadbeat and would pay. Their response was “there’s no need to be rude”. I said that if anyone were being rude then they were, by asking me for pre-payment and threatening me with cancellation. They eventually agreed to email the link to me. This promise of theirs turned out to be an empty one, though, because no link ever arrived. I rang back and waited in a telephone queue. When someone finally answered and I began by saying “I have waited twenty minutes in your telephone queue--” the call was disconnected; your staff seemed to have hung up me. With no alternative, I again travelled to your office, twenty minutes each way, to pre-pay, taking an hour out of my work day in addition to all the time that I had spent on the phone. What ought to have been a simple one-hour pair of appointments for me and my son had become the major occupation of my day. When I presented myself and my credit card at your office I received another nasty surprise: You charged me £125 for my and my son’s new-patient appointments whereas on Bupa Dental Choice 1 I ought to have been charged £45. This was despite the fact that I had given my Bupa Dental Choice membership number when I called at your office in person, just after noon on Tuesday 8 November, to make the appointments. I was told specifically at that time that my giving my membership number would enable your office to process claims electronically so that I would be charged only the excess. I emailed your practice manager Lianne Featherstone that same evening of our appointments, 12 January. It took a week to receive a reply to that email, and till date no correction to the charge has appeared on my credit card. I am a busy professional and haven’t much time to spare. I certainly haven’t much time to spare waiting in telephone queues, driving back and forth to your office when your staff hang up on me, or composing email to try to have overcharges corrected. Your dental staff are tops, but your administrative staff seem a complete zero.

Fantastic experience: I don’t often leave reviews, however, on this occasion I felt it was important to share our experience. Coralie and Tanya were fantastic with my daughter, who needed treatment for the first time aged 19. My daughter was nervous and I thought she was about to leave the waiting room. Coralie came to her in the waiting room and explained exactly what the room would be like and allowed me to go into the room and sit next to my daughter. Tanya was reassuring throughout, allowed us to choose music to listen to explained every step of the process. I cannot thank them both enough. It will make all future dental visits, so much easier. Fantastic experience: My very elderly father in law and I have both been treated here this week by 2 different dentists both of whom were professional caring supportive and friendly as were the nurses and reception staff. Felt very safe throughout with the covid arrangements. I have to agree about the standing outside to wait. It won't be any fun in December. Perhaps the pretty front lawn needs a 3metre gazebo in winter. Lol.

Positive experience: Ar the moment, you knock on the door to let them know you've arrived, but then wait outside until your appointment when you come in and are asked to wear a mask and use alcohol soap. This is very reassuring. The surgery is always spotlessly clean and all the staff are friendly and helpful. I went this time for a consultation on whether a brace would be a good idea and was given a thorough assessment which was fully explained to me which I don't think all dentists do but I really appreciated understanding exactly what everything was, what it means and the implications. The dentist reccomended I see a specialist for my particular issues, but the time she took to explain why, what I can be doing in the meantime and what to expect. I had been forewarned that this was a possible outcome when I booked the appointment. I was only charged £5 to cover the cost of the ppe used and have been referred to a specialist who will receive the report from my assessment. I am really happy with the outcome and the level of expertise and service I received. Not 5 stars as no specialist available at this practice and because I am not sure whether the parking adjacent is officially available to patients or if the supermarket would be within their rights to send you a fine.

The only possible improvement I could suggest is a refurbishment of the building. Particularly the outside which doesn’t reflect the high standard delivered within.

Positive experience: Service is good but it would be much better if they could do something about the patients waiting outside the clinic. (Precovid we use to wait inside), we were soaking wet with rain waiting for our turn to be called inside. Not all patient come by car so they can shelter from the weather. A shed with chairs or lend a umbrella might do?

Since then we have had two individual appointments and I felt really reassured. Coralie took time to explain everything properly and make me feel at ease, giving us clear instructions on how to follow up with our after care. I couldn’t recommend this dentists enough!

The Dentist was friendly and warm, brilliant with the children particularly, explaining everything beforehand and re-assuring them. She was very thorough and we felt like she took her time to listen and talk through treatment options with us, even explaining the costs upfront. Highly recommend!!
