Fantastic experience: Broke a big filling off a front tooth. Was able to get a convenient appointment the next day. Adam and his colleague were brilliant - spent time making sure the new filling was the right colour, in proportion to the other front tooth and the bite was perfect. Negative experience: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disorganised and Poorly Managed Practice I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this dental practice. I initially booked an appointment, only to be told later that they had double-booked me — no apology, just a random new date and time that I had already said I couldn’t do. After some back and forth, we finally agreed on a new date. But then they cancelled again, saying they couldn’t find equipment/ pieces for the machine they would use for the airflow procedure. To make matters worse, it turned out they also couldn’t locate the equipment or parts needed for the procedure— which was honestly shocking. At that point, it was clear they were completely disorganised and not managing appointments, equipment, or patient records properly. To top it all off, the refund process is slow. I was told I would have to wait several weeks for it to be processed — adding even more frustration. Very poor communication, no reliability, and generally unprofessional service. I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

Negative experience: I have registered to 3 visits in a row for my children and myself 6 months in advance. I received the messages and email remainders and my children and I got to the clinic to see that only 2 visits were registered. I had to wait for an hour to be seen and that is only after I refused to leave and return another day. I felt it was handled unprofessional and if a mistake was made by the registration, I shouldn’t wait an hour.

Negative experience: My appointment on Thursday 5th June at 10am was cancelled just 90 minutes before it was due, despite the fact I had arranged childcare. This was the second cancellation out of three appointments since joining the surgery. I was told I’d be refunded the £75 fee (as I was moving to Bristol and couldn’t rebook), and nearly a month later I’m still chasing it. I’ve called seven times, been told repeatedly that the money is coming in “5–7 days” or “5–10 days”, and promised callbacks from managers that never happened. This is not just poor organisation — it’s a complete lack of accountability and basic customer care. £75 is a lot of money, and I’ve wasted even more time trying to get it back. I am still waiting. Avoid this place unless you’re happy to be messed around.

Negative experience: My opinion is going down! Three appts in a row now when there has been a problem with the booking!!! My clinical treatment is 1st class but your admin is shoddy. This time appt booked when dentist at lunch. Last appt moved back an hour due to dentist not being there. Prior appt had to be rebooked as wrong treatment appt booked. I'm not happy!

Positive experience: I was happy with the extraction, but after a week the neighbouring tooth had the filling fall out - which I think was due to the difficulty of removing the tooth the week before. So I went back and had it filled but was told that it probably won’t last! So every appointment needs another one! So not a very happy patient!

Fantastic experience: Shaghayegh has been superb throughout my treatment. Quick, efficient and painless with my fillings and always willing to explain both my options and the treatments themselves. She is a real asset to Damira; her bedside manner is an object lesson in how to make going to the dentist almost a pleasure! Positive experience: Great treatment lovely staff I am frightened of the dentist but I'm made so at ease with my dentist..... It would be nice to have seating with arms as I'm disabled and find it hard to get up from seating .. please replace senting get higher seating ..i have to stand when i come for my appointment because seating is low...even with my walking aids... sadly found out my dentist is no longer nhs .not happy

Negative experience: Not too happy. The crown appears to have been put in back to front after having fallen out and because it was sitting proud, some of the crown was removed - still sitting a little proud now.

Negative experience: During an NHS checkup a replacement filling was recommended. This was done privately. Within a few weeks I started to experience great pain, buy was made to pay again for emergency remedial work, even though it Damira who botched the work in the first place. I am not best pleased.

Positive experience: My appointment was cancelled without prior notice, which seems to be due to lack of internal communication. Cuz when I received the text msg and called to double check, reception said that the system showed the cancellation was made by the patient (which is not the case) and my slot had already been given away. I explained the situation. But the staff offered no solution other than rebooking, and their response felt very dismissive and indifferent (Most of the staff members are very helpful and professional most of the time.)…It caused unnecessary stress as I was only halfway through my treatment. Didn’t know what’s going on until I wrote an email to my dentist to query directly. Received the reply the following day and understood the reason for the cancellation. But patients should be informed AHEAD of time if the clinic needs to cancel or rearrange their appointments. I hope this review could help to improve communication and patient experience in the future.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Damira Bury Knowle for a number of years. My dentist Shaggy is superb, I am a very nervous patient with delicate teeth, she is such a lovely person and has been truly fantastic in looking after me for many years. On Wednesday I had prep work for 2 crowns to be fitted, Shaggy again did an excellent job again, together with her brilliant assistant Majdah they really looked after me. Positive experience: I had previous good experience...but unfortunately my feeling is that not many expericed dentists are staying around for too long. I had two amalgam fillings 6 months ago on 15/08/24 by a very inexperienced dentist who did it in a record time of less than 10min but unfortunately one of them fell off the following day. I believe this happened because the dentist did not prepare the cavosurface adequately. Another point is that when I arrived the doctor wanted to perform anaesthesia straight away and I was shocked because for simple filings you do not need anaesthesia so I chalanged this and in the end I had the filling done without anaesthesia and without any problem or pain. Anyway the following day I had an emergency visit booked and the dentist without even cleaning the cavity has applied a composite filling which came off after 6 months. I called the reception and explained my filling came off and I need to see a dentist who can do amalgam fillings but I was booked to a dentist who initially thought I am coming for a routine dental check up and additionally the dentist was not confident to do amalgam fillings. So I think the receptionist does not have basic knowledge about types of the fillings composite/amalgam and the skills and expertise of each dentist they are working with. So I was booked again wih an experienced dentist and so far erything is fine again.

I am currently battling cancer and as its bone related Shaggy takes extra care of me...she told me she is moving practices I really feel I should travel to where she will be as I am very comfortable with her and trust her 100%. The practice itself is very clean and all the staff including reception are nice...nothing is too much trouble. They keep you updated with checks and even delays on the day. Would I recommend thus practice...absolutely yes

Negative experience: tldr: untransparent pricing and imo unnecessary deposits, and a pain to get hold of on call center. Would strongly recommend Dr Le Tocq in city center instead, especially if you're a student, it's much cheaper and much easier. Had to get an emergency filling, was quoted 27 pounds for a checkup (they took a deposit on the phone, and asked me to read out my card details, which feels kinda dodgy icl), and then 70 odd for the filling. When I got there, I was informed that the checkup wasn't even a checkup (even though I had been explicitly told that I didn't qualify for an emergency on the phone, so I'm not sure how that happened), and that it would actually cost 35 pounds. I would then have to come back in AGAIN, and pay for another checkup (another 35) AND 150 for a filling, to actually get the problem resolved. This was not what I was quoted over the phone, OR in the confirmation email that i received. I was also pressured to pay a deposit on the spot. I phoned up a couple of different places after, and got an appointment with Dr Le Tocq for the next day, and he literally only charged me 45 pounds (student pricing) for absolutely everything, and I was done and out within half an hour. Guys honestly, I don't know what his usual pricing is, but if you're a student it's really really good value, don't bother with Damira. I then had to phone three more times and FIGHT for my deposit back, (and also apparently I had to go in person to get the refund, in 2025???) and they also refused to refund me the difference to what I had been quoted for my initial 'checkup'. The only nice thing about going to visit this dentist was the availability of appointments (ig at least they'll see you, a lot of other places won't), and that the receptionist was super lovely (she single handedly earns this review an extra star). but yeah, don't bother. Demand for appointments is very high so we follow this policy to prevent failure to attend. Positive experience: Lovely friendly staff. I was told on a previous appointment that a tooth extraction would cost £200 so I booked an appointment to get the tooth extraction done, however on the day I was told the tooth extraction would be £295 and I had to pay it that day, I went ahead with the tooth extraction which went great however I was very disappointed that I had to pay more costs than I was originally told.

Positive experience: Hygienist visit - quick, friendly and professional as usual. No problem with that, but this practice has been increasing fees constantly. Have been attending Damira regularly for over 5 years, and usually book my next appointment after each visit. This time they asked for a £30 deposit there and then if I wanted to book for 6 months time. It will also be £30 deposit if I book later online. Not impressed with this change - not clear if it is a refundable deposit or not, should there be a last-minute cancellation. Feel forced into booking later online - would prefer to avoid yet another online booking system.

Negative experience: I have had two visits to the clinic. The first was an emergency appointment through 111, which lasted approximately two minutes. I was prescribed antibiotics, and the receptionist kindly booked me a free review appointment after completing the five-day course. This review appointment was scheduled for 15 minutes. A week later, I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment at 16:10. The receptionist asked me to take a seat. While waiting, I noticed the dentist sitting in the reception area, though I was unsure of the purpose of her being there. My name was called at 16:20 to the reception desk, where the dentist asked why I was there. She repeatedly informed me that I was not a registered patient at this clinic, as they only handle emergency cases. I explained my situation once again, mentioning that I had visited a week earlier for an infection following a tooth extraction. However, she continued to emphasise that I was not a patient at the clinic and needed to return to the practice that performed the original treatment. I also informed her that 111 had directed me to this clinic. She then asked if I was in pain, which I confirmed, and subsequently booked me for an emergency appointment. Upon entering the treatment room, her assistant was present but did not acknowledge me. Instead, she turned away and continued with her task. The examination lasted approximately three minutes, confirming that the infection remained. I was prescribed a stronger antibiotic. While waiting for my prescription, the dentist suddenly asked whether I believed a part of the tooth was still remaining. She then requested an X-ray to investigate a cut in my gum that had caused the infection. The X-ray was taken, and she dismissed any concerns about a retained tooth fragment. To summarise, the stressful atmosphere, the lack of clarity regarding the review process, and the rushed nature of both visits made me feel unwelcome and unsettled. My daughter had a similar experience, where she also received very fast treatment, being in and out quickly. I was initially considering your clinic for private dental treatment, but after this experience, I will no longer be seeking treatment at your clinic for private care. Kind regards, F.M.L

Negative experience: Excellent dental treatment as always, but I was left waiting for 45 minutes before I was seen. Appointment time: 12.00pm. Seen: 12.45pm. I'm aware that treatment is provided on the day of patients' check up appointments, but surely we can be given some update on the situation rather than just be left sitting there for as long as it takes. I nearly had to leave due to other commitments. The receptionist who asked if all was ok had no idea I'd been waiting so long. You need a system that links patients' experience between reception, the waiting room and the treatment room.

Negative experience: I had a bad experience in my previous visit. Dentist was very rude and patronising no respect whatsoever and dignity of care. I believe her behaviour fell short of her professional code of conduct. The Dentist made me feel like I am being a nuisance meanwhile I was paying for the service and in great pain. I was in deep pain and the cause of for both teeth. Instead of her reassuring me and offering another time to extract two teeth she wanted to take only one teeth and for me to come back again to remove the second teeth. It seem service is more of money more than person centred care. I will make a formal complaint in due course and escalate this. The dentist did not have time at all and wanted me to leave her consultation. As much as she embarrassed me making me feel like I don’t know what I want. I feel dentist need to have more training about dealing with a distress patient with severe dental pain. Thank you

Had two treatments from Alireza who is highly educated in his profession, provides an excellent service explaining pre and during procedure followed by aftercare advice. Booked a hygienist treatment which was quite quick and concise compared to other places but I was happy with the results.

Fantastic experience: The dentist I saw (AR) was simply fantastic. Not only did AR provide clear advice, with understandable recommendations and treatment plan, the treatment I received was comfortable and solved my dental issues. AR was an absolute perfectionist with the work she did and made the 70 minute appointment a positive & relaxed experience. ARs assistant was also very efficient, they were a very good team and made my appointment run smoothly. The Reception staff were also friendly & welcoming. Thank you to all the staff

Negative experience: I had to cancel my appointment on the day due to the day before being a public holiday. I’ve been bombarded with emails and texts and now have to prepay for bookings which is laughable considering the practice call and make last minute changes and cancellations with no regard to my circumstances.

Our payment in advance policy requires all patients to pay the full amount or a percentage at the time of booking the appointment. Demand for appointments is very high so we follow this policy to prevent failure to attend. It promotes patients to inform us when they need to cancel so their appointment time can be used to see another patient in need of dental care.

Positive experience: The dentist who treated me was very knowledgeable, kind and competent. Like all dentist's offices, charges were obscure: they had put up an A4 sheet with NHS charges but it was too small and far away for me to read it.
