Negative experience: I have been a patient at this practice for 20 years and never missed an appointment.Yesterday I received a letter saying I had been removed from the nhs lists because I missed two appointments.I last attended on the 24th February this year.I haven’t had any other appointments.Im just approaching 83 yrs of age and found this very,very stressful especially as I couldn’t get through to Reception but I did get through to the new patient option!She put me through to Reception three times but I still didn’t get an answer.I sent an email message- no answer.As a result I had a sleepless night.This morning my daughter rang as I was too upset and she contacted Reception and there it was confirmed that I had attended in February.There was no apology or recognition of my stress just a mention of a texted July appointment which I haven’t received and a new appointment given.After being with this practice for so long and in recognition of my age I would have expected more understanding and sympathy.

Negative experience: Appointment time was 11.15am, I arrived at 11.00am and checked in. Everybody in the waiting room that was there when I arrived went in for their appointment and came out. At 11.45am I asked reception what was happening and was told I'd been checked in and the dentist must be running late. A few minutes later the receptionist advised me that the dentist was dealing with an emergency and would be another 15 minutes. During this time other people arrived and left, I did not see anybody leave that had not been sat in the waiting room at some point during my wait. At 12.15pm, an hour after my appointment time I was called in, my appointment last two minutes, a brief check and was told to come back in 9 months. The recommendation is 6 monthly check ups and clean. There is no longer a scale and polish either. On top of that I didn't even see the dentist I saw last time and had booked in with.

Negative experience: Ringing various dental surgeries for air flow cleaning rang this surgery was hanging on the phone for 8 minutes so I just gave up.

Positive experience: I attended dental appointment on 12 November 2024 at 09:00am. This time it was better than my last previous one I had. The dentist by name Mohammed treated me and asked some reasonable questions. He explained things to me about my teeth and what to be doing and what to avoid. In fact, I was pleased with the attention I received while in the dental surgery this time. The Reception staff were helpful. A man attended to me at the desk when I asked if I could get a proper receipt after paying, provided the receipt and booked me down for the next appointment in May 2025. I received email of the next appointment and attached for the receipt. Yes it was better than I expected. Yes, this is my second time attendance I had with Mohammed, and on each time we had a chat and I enjoyed being with him each time I have an appointment. Yes, it seems we now have a good Dentist after our usual male Dentist left, and replaced with a female Dentist that once could not understand what was being said, and the treatment received during my first appointment with the female Dentist was appalling. Then when I met Mohammed, I was a little bit skeptical because of my past and last appointment with the female Dentist we have there briefly. But after my first and second encounter with Mohammed, I was very pleased and relieved of the treatments I received, compared to the female Dentist before him. I hope he remains with us and provide Darwen the services we deserve.

Negative experience: poor service and not been at this practice years still no one knows what they are doing and it shows by still asking people to pay for services they haven't received after not being at practice for years.

Fantastic experience: Much better receptionist than previously. The male receptionist paid attention to my arrival immediately, served promptly and courteously. Best service there so far.

Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to Dr Mathew Morris and Sarah. Both were very professional and friendly. I attended as a private patient after a number of years not visiting any dentist due to work and travel but I knew it needed sorting and after the initial consultation and x-rays they created a plan of treatment for a couple of fillings, extractions and hygienist appointments such that now my teeth have no pain and my gums feel much stronger with less inflammation. I can’t thank you both enough.

Fantastic experience: Taken on time and was given a thorough examination. Every step was explained and when a decision was needed for further treatment there was no pressure given. Just the options and their pros and cons which allowed me to choose the best option for me. Very happy with this surgery.

Fantastic experience: I attended darwenside dental practice as a private patient, i am a very nervous person and i had always disliked going to the dentist, from my very first appointment Dr Jayan and his Nurse Mariyah put me at ease from the start of my treatment to the end. I had several appointments and it all went to plan, they were very thorough with what options I had available. I am now over my fear of going to the dentist, and will be returning regularly. Thank you to them both for making my experience amazing. I would highly recommend this dentist practice, as it was a comforting registration, very clean and hygienic, and most of all very welcoming! Fantastic experience: Great dental practice. Good with nervous patients. Good infection control measures in place which make me feel safe. Never waiting too long for appointments and they keep to time. An excellent practice.

Negative experience: I attended my routine 12 monthly dental appointment, following the examination and xray I had a clean and polish. I was provided with glasses but not tissue bib, the water from the machine went all down my neck and continued to throughout the procedure. My teeth were scraped with water but not polished. When finished I was given cup of water to rinse my mouth, again no tissue. I looked at the floor and it was flooded. After a clean and polish your teeth feel squeaky clean but not this time, they feel no different. Considering you make the NHS payment for treatment I found this to be extremely poor and disappointing. My usual Dentist has retired, nothing like this happened under his care. I did mention to the receptionist whom apologised but that doesn’t make my teeth squeaky clean does it. Not a happy client at all.

Fantastic experience: Because of a bad experience at the dentist when I was younger I have a real fear of visiting the dentist. However at darwen side they helped me feel a lot more relaxed. I needed a deep clean and was getting quite worked up about it, but he was so gentle and understanding I hardly felt anything at all. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Positive experience: I hate going to the dentist, but my new dentist Ahmed Ismail put me at ease from the get go. He offered me advice and explained what my options were regarding a tooth and general oral hygiene. He even dumbed it down so it was easy to understand. The reception staff were welcoming. The new decor in the waiting room is nice too.

Fantastic experience: My experience today was brilliant, a very polite and professional receptionist. I had an appointment for my children and then one for myself an hour later. After my children's appointment Samar was at the reception desk ready to see me straight away, so I didn't have to wait around or come back. Once in the dentist room I can't even put into words how great Alman and Samar was. Very polite and professional. Alman gave my teeth the best clean they've ever had from a dentist! Alman and Samar, thank you very much for your treatment today!!! You guys are the best!

Fantastic experience: I recently attended Darwenside Dental practice to see Karen, the dental hygienist. Her manner and professionalism is excellent, I feel totally confident in her work and the advice she gives me. She is excellent at making the client feel at ease and explaining each part of the treatment. Also Matthew, on reception, goes above and beyond in being helpful and knowledgeable in his area of work. Recently a letter to Manchester Dental Hospital , had not been responded to and there were other issues regarding it. Matthew said he would look into the matter. He did butkept me informed of developments ongoing. Resolving the issues were quickly and competently, with satisfactory outcomes.

Negative experience: Extremely unhappy about the service in which I received today. I went to an appointment before Christmas for three fillings. On the day they could only do two fillings as the dentist said they couldn’t do fillings on both sides (something to do with eating etc) and so would have to come back (today) to have the third done. At my first appointment I was given the option to have composite filling or a metal filling and of course chose the composite. Mainly because the holes weren’t bad and they’re more of a preventative than a cure and of course aren’t unsightly. Well today I have gone to my appointment and been refused to have composite on the right side and the private dentist came in and said if I wanted composite I would have to pay for it privately. So my question is how come three weeks ago it was ok for me to have a composite filling in two teeth, but today i can’t have it on one tooth? Baring in mind I had already paid for this treatment (nhs) and this right tooth was already part of the plan! I also probably would have just paid for it privately if it wasn’t for the fact the dentist came in telling me how lucky I am I got the composite fillings done in the first place and lied as to why I couldn’t have it. I mean I just don’t understand how three weeks ago it was ok and now unless I went private I can’t have it! Kept telling me it was the choice of the dentist at the time, even though I was given the choice to choose. But regardless, just seems it’s more that he just wanted me to pay extra for the one tooth. Which has really annoyed me. I was booked in for teeth whitening too. Out of principle I walked out, because they could have done it, but chose not to. Which also means I will not be having my teeth whitening treatment done here either. So I will happily pay private for this tooth if needs be, but it won’t be here and will also be taking my cosmetic dentistry needs elsewhere. Shame too as all the other dentist and reception staff are lovely.

Fantastic experience: Went for a routine checkup at the surgery. Saw Aristi Beka, who I've seen many times in the past now, this lady is really nice. I have complex dental issues, due to a medical problem, but she always treats me with kindness, in a professional manner and takes care when examining my teeth and gums.

Positive experience: Arrived in good time for my appointment but had to wait over 10 mins before I saw the dentist. Once more, a different dentist again. After a very quick examination ,my teeth were pronounced ok. See you in 6 months. The mammoth pothole at the entrance to the carpark is getting bigger and full of water,looks quite daunting driving on to the carpark.

Fantastic experience: I attended today for an appointment with the hygienist, an appointment, in the past, that I've always dreaded, despite my age. Today, I was seen by Therapist, Sami Ur Rehman, and Dental Nurse, Samar Both Sami and Samar offered the utmost care and reassurance, helping me feel at ease the moment I sat in 'that' chair. Throughout my treatment, I was able to remain calm, and left wondering what I had worried about! Equally satisfying was the support at reception, booking my follow-up. The reception staff were again helpful and caring, and were able to find me a suitable appointment, going back through to enquire with Sami and Samar to ensure the appointment would be appropriate. Overall, considering I travel from North Preston, my experience today was worth every minute of the journey. Thank you, Darwenside Dental especially to Sami and Samar.

Fantastic experience: I really hate visiting the dentist, I've had a phobia all my life. The nurses, dentist (Ahmed Ismail) and chap on the reception desk have all been lovely. The dentist was particularly kind and patient.

He is friendly, caring and puts his patients at ease. Highly recommended. One of the receptionist, Matthew, is also very helpful and polite. The practice now has new dentists/staff and it's made a great difference.

Negative experience: I had a emergency appointment last week with a dentist young Asian dentist I hope he never woks on me again he should be in the job he actually was swearing when the young girl left the room he has no customer service skills he literally just wanted to pull my tooth out without even doing a x ray he was a horrible person the way he was talking to me and there was also another guy wating in the waiting area for his mouth to numb and he was taking his tooth out not on I normally see my regular dentist and I can't highly thank her she is definitely a credit ymto your dentist surgery but he definitely needs talking to

Fantastic experience: I needed a deep filling replaced and was anxious about the use of needle to numb the area. The Dental Therapist and her Assistant couldn't have been nicer about my anxiety and they put me completely at ease. They used numbing gel first then the needle, I hardly felt a thing! Negative experience: Just had a threatening letter posted today about me not turning up for an appointment last Wednesday saying if I didn't turn up again they would fire me off I did turn up and paid for a check up so I rang up it took me 35 mins to get through what's funny is the recorded message says we value your call ha ha sure I'm fuming if I had a heart problem it could have finished me off

Positive experience: I'm disappointed to see the actual premises run down. wall paper torn off walls, heading guards off the wall, chairs inadequate thought mine was going to break. It's not the image portrayed before covid. The actual treatment rooms were good but first impressions count. If you can't keep reception in a goof state what else is slipping!

Positive experience: As always the hygienist was great and friendly. However am quite miffed that I paid for this prior to price increase and yet they seem to be under the delusion they can charge me the difference. without any prior notice. this needs to be looked at as I don't think this can be legal

Negative experience: Terrible.. And that's putting it mildly.. Went 1 year ago with swollen face and many broken teeth which are still inside my gums and questioned by the receptionist. No examination was carried out. Got sent away after waiting for one hour.. Money grabbing vultures.
