South Cliff Dental Group, Dover: Reviews
Negative experience: They don't solve the problem here. They don't know how to do anything here.
Negative experience: Disgusting practice, no dentists working there, which they dont tell you but charge you and book you in anyway, "dental hygemists" (just laugh at that) are not very hygenic as the place is full of flies, visibly dirty and reeks of curry. Needs to be shut down.
Negative experience: the worst dental clinic in my experience. They only have 1 dentist that only works on saturdays and is always sick. My daughters dentist appointement has been cancelled 3 times and now i have to go privately to pull out her teeth because i will lose her orthodont appointement that we have been waiting for 3 years.
Fantastic experience: I’m rating 5 stars based on how quick it was to register. They called back within minutes of receiving my application, with a next day appointment!
Fantastic experience: Went first time and they were brilliant they are helping me to smile again was so nervous and they were amazing
Fantastic experience: After not having a dentist for a couple of years as had gone private. From initial phone call to registering and todays first check up I've felt quite at ease. And will be going forward with treatments. Happy staff.
Negative experience: Called today to get an emergency appointment was told by receptionist she would ring back at 2:00 never did tried ringing but there was no answer but know to late to get an appointment elsewhere so having to wait for dental line now while all the time my daughters face is swelling and black eye
Negative experience: Long story short "A wasted year because NO ONE told me there was no actual dentist on site. I kept going there for a gum infection, and they kept doing teeth cleanings. They never prescribed antibiotics, and things just got worse. When, exhausted, I finally asked why they weren’t doing a root canal, one of the (yet another) young girls admitted they weren’t dentists, but dental hygienists — and that I should have gone to Margate. I was furious and shocked. They ruined my enamel with all those cleanings, didn’t solve the actual problem, and now there’s a 90% chance I’ll have to get the tooth removed and have an implant placed. All of this because I wasted a year with them! Unacceptable.
Fantastic experience: 1st time been and very friendly staff. And friendly practitioners. Was seen to vey quickly and was advised promptly. Very clean inside .
Fantastic experience: All the receptionist staff are on point, helpful, patient, friendly, upbeat and professional, well done keep up the great work
Negative experience: There is absolutely no way that all these 5 star reviews are legit. South cliff dental group, Dover are operating without an actual dentist. Therefore, they are NOT a dentist and shouldn't be operating as such. I've been sent on a wild goosechase by this dentist for over a week after I broke a tooth on 1st March 2025 on toast, of all things and the remaing filling fell out, leaving a huge hole. Rushed down there on that day as they didn't answer the phone. Was told by the receptionist, a woman, very friendly 'our clinicians had gone home for the day' it was around 1630 when I got there. According to her, everyone cancelled and those clinicians had nothing to do, so they left 10 minutes before I arrived. Just my luck. So she makes me an appointment with what I thought was a dentist for the Tuesday 4th March 2025. I assumed I'd be seeing a dentist as I was at a dental practice. In the meantime I had to fill the tooth myself with temporary filling from the chemist. 4th March 2025 rolls around. I walk in and sit down. Different people on reception this time. Got chatting to another patient "they don't even have a dentist here" she tells me, surely not "no they send you to Margate" My turn to go in. I don't know who I saw, there were a couple of women in blue scrubs, no name tags in the room. They took xrays and told me systems were down and sent me away. I return to the receptionist, a young boy, and I'm not happy. I'm stood negotiating with this plum about the appointment being a waste of time, trying not to lose my temper whilst a queue of patients forms behind me. I step out of the way and watch as patients in the queue pay upfront for their treatment before actually receiving it. None of them are told there's no dentist. My turn again and I spend a long time talking to the boy behind the counter. He tells me I can't see anyone else but the person who I've just seen, who didn't do anything to treat me because she was 'didnt have time'. Give me strength. Eventually he makes an appointment for Saturday 8th March 2025. During that week they called 4 times to cancel the appointment. I told them each time I need the tooth fixing. Saturday comes, same thing happens as Tuesday. I turn up for my appointment, more xrays. By this point the tooth is now cutting into my tongue. It's painful and I can't eat. The temp filling I put in has come out. "We can't do anything here, you have to go to Margate" when I asked why there was no dentist, they avoided the question. I return to reception, the same boy is there. He doesn't 'refer' me to the Margate branch, he gives me their contact details on a postit note. So I call the number once I get back to the car. Margate told me I needed to be registered with them, their not interlinked with Dover and she was 'fed up' with patients calling having being told to do so by Dover. She couldn't help me. Back to the dentist I marched, fuming this time, all this messing about. The boy on reception cowers behind the counter, stumbling over his words looking like a deer in headlights. He's been caught out giving the wrong information. I asked how long they hadn't had a dentist for, he told me since August 2024! Unbelievable. They're still taking on NHS patients, charging them for treatment they're not receiving knowing full well there's no dentist. I spoke to the practice manager on the phone to complain, she was about as enthusiastic as I would be about watching paint dry. She told me "we don't have Dentists here mamm". No dentists at a dentist, would you believe? The woman didn't care, wasn't interested in my complaint, and thinks it's totally acceptable to advertise themselves as a dentist when they're not one. When I made a post about what I'd experienced in a local Facebook group, the amount of horror stories was unbelievable. Patients had no idea there was no dentist and asked "so whos been looking at my teeth?" Place needs closing down. I've reported them to CQC and NHS. Totally unacceptable behaviour. How this place is still operating is beyond me. Absolute disgrace!
Fantastic experience: I haven't been able to afford a dentist for years as no one takes on new nhs patients. This place did and they collectively were all really professional and lovely. I've told all my family to switch to them.
Negative experience: Update: I was tild I need 3 fillings and filled out the form to get this done under sedation due to anxiety. Never heard back from them despite calling to chase this up. That was 18 months ago! The reception staff were amazingly helpful, friendly and kind. Dental studio was clean, bright and airy. I did have to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time, but the relaxing atmosphere in the waiting area helped. I was able the get free NHS treatment. Would definitely recommend.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with the way my son was treated. Had a swollen face right up to his eye and it was all purple and they done nothing for him.
Positive experience: The lady that saw me wasn't a proper dentist, they haven't got a proper dentist yet for the NHS, I need to have a couple of teeth out, but I am refusing as they don't bother me and when I last saw a proper dentist they said that they would give me some false teeth as I have had a few out already, and they won't give me false teeth until they get a proper NHS dentist in, so until they do I refuse to have anymore teeth out, as I have got gaps, and I hate it.
Fantastic experience: This setting was suggested to me by my daughter’s school. I was so thrilled to find an NHS dentist after being so badly treated at my last practice. I am so happy with the care myself & children received. I am very happy to recommend this practice to others.
Fantastic experience: I would like to express my gratitude to South Cliff Dental Group for the excellent care provided during my recent hygiene procedure. It has been over 15 years since my last visit to the dentist and the team made the experience surprisingly pleasant. There professionalism, attitude, attention to detail, and friendly atmosphere put me completely at ease. I'll definitely be visiting them again. Highly recommended.!!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Incredibly helpful staff, quick appointment time, they fixed my chipped front tooth with a perfect colour match, I'm really pleased with the results.
Fantastic experience: Yes this all reviewed are true. When they had opened this practice was horrible. Just money and nothing more they charge you upfront even when you hadn't treatment was a problem to get money back. Never dentist available etc. I want to change a dentist as well but went just for check up with children last month. And all completely different. New staff, kind and helpful atmosphere. They stop asking money more then is necessary. I had an emergency visit 2 weeks ago as well, appointment same day, teeth done and still for cost of NHS nothing extra. I am after 4th visit mine and children's and I can say now this people there are great! Thank you so much for all you help!
Fantastic experience: I'm really satisfied with this center as the hygiene which is important to me was observed. An Indian young dentist was really professional and precise also his dental assistant was well-trained.the staffs were good-tempered and my appointment was done quickly. I highly recommend this dental group to you if you need urgent visit or further treatment.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting service, they don't have a fully qualified dentist there, the receptionist should actually be telling patients before taking their money, I paid £26.50 for an emergency appointment, I was told I needed antibiotics but the dentist was not allowed to give me a prescription as he isn't qualified to do so, was told to call dentaline which then charged me a further £26.50 plus £10 for antibiotics. If the receptionist would of told me that this was the case I would of saved myself the 1st £26.50 and gone straight to dentaline!!! Money grabbing fraudsters!!!
Positive experience: Nice and friendly staff, Professional. ignored the train wreck and started some good work. Thank you. Update 1/1/2024 Not able to provide service u need as they have no dentists no more. Lost a star as a result of this.
Negative experience: I had a filling down here and I recently joined a new dentist due to never being able to get hold off them. My new dentist had to do a new filling where they’d done such a bad job! I also paid a lot less at this new place for the same. Don’t go here unless you want be conned for your money.
Negative experience: Staff are friendly, receptionists in particular are great. However, currently they have no dentists, yet despite this while I was sat in the waiting area I could hear calls being made to schools advertising that they are taking on NHS patients. I do not believe this should be allowed if they have zero dentists on site. I've now been left with a hole in my tooth, that can't be sorted by a dental therapist, until being able to call the out of hours number as their sister practice in Margate is not responding. And though I appreciate the xray, the sizing of the piece was off and it did cut the bottom of my mouth, which I said was happening and he just said "no it isn't bite harder". Additionally, there may be an issue with plumbing or something, but the rooms stink. While I was there the assistant had to come and spritz perfume repeatedly to hide the smell. That doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the quality or cleanliness of the place.
Positive experience: Would have got 5 stars if had a dentist in house, urgently need two teeth removed , paid £28 for a checkup to be told to cut down smoking ! No referral to another branch that had a dentist in house just told to call margate branch and see if they have appointments . On the whole a disappointing experience .
Positive experience: I registered with South Cliff at Dover as an NHS client about seven months ago and they've exceeded my expectations considerably. Friendly and professional people working very efficiently.
Fantastic experience: Very happy with first visit today. Polite and friendly young man on reception. My appointment was on time and the dental practitioner couldn't have been nicer, he was helpful and knowledgeable, I'm very pleased to have finally found a NHS practitioner and will happily visit again.
Negative experience: This dentist really does have the most useless receptionists. On 23.09.2024 at 1730 I booked a follow up appointment for my daughter for the week after. Receptionist was unhelp and rude. They were texting on their phone and scrolling through Facebook. Wrote new appointments down on a piece of a paper then never booked them. Turned up for my appointment to find out that it was never booked which was a complete waste of time. They also never answer the phone so the only way to book appointments is to book onsite. So that’s 2 wasted journeys and time because the receptionist cannot be bothered to do their job properly. Extremely un help and inconvenient.
Negative experience: Very unhygienic, no dentists currently working there, and the dentistry neglected to let me know this before my appointment. Only dental hygienists are currently doing appointments and mine was rough and didn't listen to me
Fantastic experience: All Staff @Dover branch were helpful. The dentist was all Very clean. The waiting area had soft chairs. The consult room was also very clean, private, quiet and very spacious. thankyou
Negative experience: Awful dentist. First time using them my first impression is they get students dentists placements to work on your teeth. The dentist asked me what I was in for even though they had checked my teeth previously and knew I needed a filling. I had the filling done. Fews days later it came out I did try ringing, but they never answered the phone so I pop in to ask if my filling could be sorted out asap as I had a hole in my tooth. I was told they don’t do emergency treatment. I when to another dentist and had my filling done. It’s been fine since.
Negative experience: Polite female receptionist Overall disappointing and frustrating experiences. Despite booking three appointments ten days prior and clarifying appointment types, on arriving for appointments all had been incorrectly booked and advised not able to be completed. Previous appointments were not fulfilled due to broken equipment. Check up took less than five minutes advised need to come back for treatment that had been booked. Staff tutting and huffing at being put out to complete treatment at the cost £150! Staff to busy clearing up and texting during appointment. Complete lack of professionalism. Environment needs a good clean. It's hard enough getting a dentist, so incredibly frustrating at such a shocking experience.
Negative experience: I paid for a check up. The lady had no idea what she was doing. In 53 years of going to the dentist, my last clean and this check up has been the worst. The people need extra training. I had a clean 2 months ago and Iv been told to book up for another as soon as possible.? After the Greek guy who was my dentist told me I had a crack in my tooth and I should keep an eye on it. I explained that to her and she had no idea about it or what I could do about it.i understand there not nhs, but you charged me for a substandard experience.
Fantastic experience: Attended an emergency appointment for a replacement filling. Receptionist was very polite, and the waiting room was clean. I was seen at the time of my appointment. My Dentist was polite and explained the procedure clearly before the work commenced and I received a new filling. No problems at all. I was made to feel at ease and nothing was rushed. I had a positive experience. I'm happy to recommend South Cliff Dental Surgery, Dover.
Fantastic experience: My wife recently visited the hygienist at the South Cliff Dental Group in Dover. Here is what she has to say: Following my visit to the hygienist, I would highly recommend a visit to him for anyone who wants to receive a professional clean and polish. Whilst, I can be considered a nervous patient, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted that I was treated with such kindness and understanding. Furthermore he did a wonderful clean and polish on my teeth and it has certainly made me smile. I will not hesitate to come back as a regular patient. Thank you for an excellent service . Janet Harrison.
Negative experience: Used to be a nice dentist. There are now no actual dentists here, you have to fill a form to say your OK to be seen by a therapist. Avoid here now, never see a regular face and the way they have left my daughters mouth is pretty worrying. Shame as this used to be a nice dentist.
Negative experience: Don't under any circumstances ever ever go to this so called dentists. They book you in as NHS and then charge you private prices. They expect you to pay for your treatment upfront. There is currently no dentist available as they have all left and they cannot get any to work for them. The entire place is absolutely disgusting dirt dust and cobwebs all over the place there is not even any way to dry your hands after visiting the toilet and yes the same toilet as the staff use. The only good polite people in the place are the receptionists. I have Pictures of the state of the place. That I will be forwarding the the relevant people.
Negative experience: Major tooth ache, asked for emergency appointment for extraction, waited two weeks to pay 25 quid to be told yes your right it needs to be removed, was then booked another appointment at another surgery for a weeks time. Why pay for something I already know, as a private patient why can't I pay for extraction immediately
Fantastic experience: Great professional experience for my family and I today. The receptionist is lovely too, calm, collected and very helpful, she is a wonderful credit to this dental surgery.
Positive experience: Only 4 stars as unfortunately only one receptionist working today so a long queue and a wait to book in and pay. Otherwise all was great, seen promptly, dentist put me at ease for check up and hygiene work.
Fantastic experience: I had a check up and a dental hygienist appointment. Both were lovely and professional and I have nothing but good words
Negative experience: I arrived on time for my appointment but was asked to wait a few minutes which became more than 30 minutes. A new hygienist called me in. He spent over 10 minutes getting ready while I was waiting on the chair looking at him trying to make sense! Once he started cleaning my teeth the sucking machine wasn’t working. He left and asked for help. Someone came and after 5 minutes they fixed that. Then the water run out. Another person came to fix that. The hygienist spent about 5 minutes trying to clean my teeth and that cost me £70. Awful. I will never go back again.
Fantastic experience: Ist visit as a new customer, waited for a very long time to get in after registering. Very efficient, dentist very thorough, had Xrays and a full check up have made an appointment with the hygienist for a clean up. Would definitely recommend.
Negative experience: Arrived for a check up to be informed they do not have any NHS Dentist, and their only private dentist on site is leaving at the end of July. Very poor service provided.
Fantastic experience: The dental hygienists and assistants were professional and attentive, taking the time to explain each step of the process. The dentist was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, addressing all my concerns with patience and care. I particularly appreciated their emphasis on preventive care and the detailed advice they provided on maintaining good oral health.
Negative experience: I wish there was stars for just the 2 lovely receptionists. I'd put 5 stars for them. I've asked a few people if they have had to pay for the full dentist treatment before it starts. Only 1 said yes, but they were with the same surgery as us! Neil was told that his denture would be finally ready today. So he said he would pay the rest the bill today. It's not like buying something finding out there's something wrong with it, and getting a refund!!! Went in, the lovely male receptionist said to him, the dentist has said he needs to pay £587 before he could see the dentist !!! As it was for a full set of dentures. That's after what he paid out eveytime he went. Since May!! Well he never asked for a full set of dentures, as he has a top plate already. He did question this when the dentist took the impressions for both top and bottom! It's just to make sure I get the bite right, was the reply. Thankfully it was on his records he only wanted a the bottom plate done. I've never seen Neil so angry in the face. I went outside, as I was going to say something, and that's not fair on the receptionists. Neil got called in. Came out, no teeth!!. If it wasn't for the fact that he would of had to start all over again, and he'd paid quite a lot off the bill already, he was going to leave and go to another dentist. I would of agreed with him. I even said to him let's just pay for both. He said, no, out of principal! Totally got him in there under false pretenses. Telling him he would be able to get his denture, today pay the rest of the bill, on you go! No all the dentist wanted was the full payment as he is leaving today. We were told 8 days prior. His not leaving until the end of the month!!! His plate wasn't ready and we weren't told it would be!! Thankfully the female receptionist who was there at the time, stood up for Neil agreed that was said. I feel sorry for the lovely 2 receptionists. Absolutely disgusted!!!
Negative experience: Friendly staff, but the practice is so tired - yet it's only two years old! The radiator is on the floor in the Toilets, there are holes in the walls, a funny smell and cobwebs all over the waiting room. If I can find another practice locally, I will be moving.
Fantastic experience: Had my first filling today with the team. Opted for the white filling despite the extra cost, so glad I did, like having a completely new tooth. Staff very friendly and informative. The lad on reception is very kind and supportive while being very professional and delivering a fantastic service.
Fantastic experience: A most pleasurable experience. By far my best dental appointment. The hygienist and his lady assistant were outstanding and the reception staff were pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic. Its a while since I needed a filling and I was nervous as it was a large break in a back tooth. The dentist and nurse were exceptional. They reassured me and kept my mouth free from water. No pain at all. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Appointment on time, or slightly early. Efficient, friendly pleasant staff from reception, to nurse and dentist. Welcome advice about next steps.
Negative experience: Awful service. I paid £70 for half hour hygienist and it's like I've never been. Teeth look no different at all and they totally missed or skipped half of my teeth. Cant get through on the phone. #1 in queue and no sign of anyone answering after waiting 20 mins. Appalling
Negative experience: Cancelled appointments, then offered an appointment with a “dental technician” who, when I asked what they did, apparently they can tell you what you need done, but can’t do it. I knew what needed to be done so I wasn’t going to an unnecessary appointment that someone else could have! Very unprofessional in my opinion and also very disorganised. Never once got to see a dentist as they all left so can’t comment on that side of it.
Negative experience: Awful. Was taken on as NHS patient. Asked for a appointment for sore wisdom tooth waited a week for appointment to be seen and told it's a abscess but he's not qualified to prescribe anything. So I asked to see dentist not dentist practitioner as need antibiotics and they have no dentists. So the whole thing was pointless to be told something I already know but then not be able to get a prescription for it because he wasn't qualified. No one told me this when I booked the appointment. Hole appointment was useless
Fantastic experience: Friendly, helpful staff, from the lovely gentleman on reception to the dental staff. Helpful reminders sent via SMS re upcoming appointments. Treatment plan explained fully. Efficient, friendly service. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: South Cliff Dental Care provided an excellent experience. Highly recommended. Ideal location. Evan O’Shea is friendly, courteous, informative and professional: he made me feel welcome and comfortable. Dr. Nikolas Sigeris is phenomenal! The doctor is gentle, attentive and highly skilled. I can’t express how thankful I am to Dr.Singeris - he provided me with the best dental experience I have ever had. I would give 10 Stars if I could! Dr.Nikolas Sigeris is a sculptor, who loves his work. The clinic is fortunate to have such a doctor. I would also like to thank the nurses who are professional, caring and hardworking too.
Negative experience: I had two appointments with the hygienist scheduled. One was cancelled by them at short notice and the other on the morning I turned up. They don't answer the phone and you cannot leave a message. I also understand that the dentist is not fully qualified. I know people are desperate for an NHS dentist, but this is one to avoid.
Negative experience: I've been at their practice for 7mths and in that time there has been no dentist at all. When you ask for a hygiene appointment all they do is scale, they don't polish or do a proper clean! Had to pay £25 upfront just to go on their books under NHS Do the NHS know that they are just getting patients in with no dentist.
Positive experience: I went in this morning to see if I could move a treatment forward and was pleasantly surprised when the dentist asked me to pop thru and he'd have a quick look. Having taken a look and an xray he then offered to do the extraction there and then! Both the dentist and dental nurse put me at my ease, talked me thru the procedure as it happened and explained the 'do,s and don'ts' to me afterwards. A really positive experience thankyou. Martin Morgan
Fantastic experience: Went to see the hygienist today. A lovely young lady called Ebere, who was very helpful and thorough. She explained everything with good suggestions for sensitive teeth. Definitely recommend highly
Positive experience: Receptionists lovely and helpful , as for the dentist I felt like it was very quick and now even tho I am on NHS and on benefits, I am having to pay them £70 for a deep clean which is due to medication like said I felt like it was quick count and out
Negative experience: This practice has seriously gone downhill since it opened. There is currently only 1 dentist and he is private, charges NHS price for check up but any other charges are private prices. He is also leaving on 1/8/2024. Previously I saw a dental 'therapist' who struggled to get amalgam to stick. She then decided without consulting me to use a white filling and expected me to pay £120. This filling was to replace one that only lasted a few weeks. The charge was waived good job too her filling has disappeared too as was just confirmed by the dentist I saw today. My husband has had the same experience, but he actually paid £120 and it lasted only a few weeks. He has an appointment tomorrow 5/6/24, but has received a text to say it is cancelled. Already paid for this too! He has currently been on the phone for 38 minutes and has moved from 5 in the queue to 3. Not happy. The staff who were there when they opened, lovely happy ladies no longer seem to be there. Husband is still on hold
Positive experience: New patient to this practice. I only went because they were taking on patients and I had a problem with my back tooth. I thought I may get appt that day as I had a face like I had been 10 rounds with Mike tyson. I filled out the form and was told they would be in touch!!! I explained about my tooth and she said make me priority. By the time got appt it had gone down and even then they cancelled my appt the NIGHT before. I was told that I would be seen by dental therapist and could only do certain things ???. I was hoping for some antibiotics may be as I thought I may have an infection. The phone rang and over heard a conversation she was having with a lady on the phone about prescribing of the antibiotics and it turns out they can't do that either. I sat there and was wondering if I had wasted my time. I went in and explained about my tooth, had the check up and referred to the hospital for xrays of my mouth?? Which I thought was done there and then. The best bit of the visit was the reception staff. Knowledge and helpful.
Negative experience: My last appointment for myself and ny children was cancelled but they didn't let me know, until we actually got there.was not happy as we came from a different area. Today they had it rearranged and the boy at the desk is condescending and quite rude, a half hour appt for myself and 2 children took less than 10min, the lady merely even looked at anyone teeth before sending us off. The reception boy was even taken back that we was out already ..he then started they have no dentists at the moment. It's notreally acceptable.
Negative experience: This is a joke of a dentistry practice. I just tried to book an appointment as my tooth broke and the filling they fitted fell out. Firstly, they tried to charge me upfront which is actually something dentists are not allowed to do (check NHS website). Then I was told they do not actually have a dentist working at the practice! Instead, they have people who can do fillings and check ups but are not actual dentists! I am going to go private somewhere else. I only gave one star to write this, but that is generous!
Fantastic experience: The dentist was very polite. The procedure went very well. I had 2 teeth removed a filling clean the pain was very well Controlled with the painkillers
Negative experience: Honestly do not know what us going on with this place? My partner and I booked a check up and hygienist a month ago. When my partner turned up, she was told that there were no dentists available and she would need to re-book. I turned up today at 8.30am to find the place not open yet. There were four of us, and all of us had 8.30 appointments? There only appeared to be one dentist working and she managed to do four check ups in 20 mins, which makes you question the quality of the check-up. She seemed surprised that I also had a hygienist appointment, but apparently the machinery was broken and I am now waiting for that to be fixed. No one seems to know when that will be. I have paid in advance but no one can tell me if or when they will provide the service? Whilst here, I heard one member of staff refusing to provide training because "I'm not qualified, and I won't get paid". This practice seems to be a complete shambles.
Negative experience: UPDATE 8TH MAY: STILL IGNORING EMAIL COMPLAINT MADE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! This was closest dentists to Ashford taking on Adult NHS quickly and now we know why! My partner has had really bad toothache so he finally decided to brave going to the dentist after a bad experience when he was younger. They were rushing when he got there as it was nearly closing time the appointment they booked him in for they sat him down for 2 mins said his teeth were fine and to just floss and see you again in 6 months. Took his money and got him out the door so they could go home. He now booked a private dentist as he knew somwthing wasn't right which has cost a pretty penny but his got a huge infection in his gum, needs an extraction/root canal/implant and the private dentist was so shocked at how bad the tooth is and the nerves on that side of his face are badly damaged due to it being left and said this should have been picked up instantly by this dentists. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!
Negative experience: I called the practice requesting for an emergency appointment. Explained what the situation was ,saying that I didn't need any dental work, just one tooth glue (fixed)back in to my temporary denture (I am doing implants)and the gentleman that answered the phone didn't offer any help at all. All he kept saying was that they weren't taking new patients. Didn't care. Extremely bad practice Only gave one star because there isn't a zero option .
Negative experience: This is the third time trying to get my teeth fixed, the first time I traveled all the way from Manchester to make the appointment just to receive a text to say it was cancelled the morning before the appointment. To try and phone in is an absolute nightmare, you are lucky to get an answer within an hour. I tried to get an earlier appointment today as I have pain and the gentleman at reception told me I can come in early as they have an opening. When I arrived there was a dental therapist to see me. Yet again wasted money to travel just to be told I can see a dentist in a month and 10 days give or take. What a bloody waste of time! What an absolute disgrace!
Negative experience: I attended this morning to have some fillings, they were done very badly, the main filling was only half done. The main thing is that I was not told that the man who did the fillings!!! Was only a technician NOT a dentist. I paid good money for this treatment and it isn't going to last. I think that I should be given a free treatment when you get a REAL dentist. I am extremely unhappy. Mrs Rosemary Devine.
Negative experience: I made an appointment to get my broken tooth repaired and have a check up. I had my check up but was told that I needed another appointment to fix my tooth. This was what I booked the appointment for in the first place and waited weeks! I was very grateful to a young man who had come in to cancel an appointment for the next day and kindly suggested that I have it. If this hadn't happened, I could have been waiting more weeks. What a waste of time!
Negative experience: Dont try phoning this dentist unless you have about an hour to wait to get answered and iim not the only one that has this problem. The dentist was rough. Had no sympathy. Was too quick to try and book me in for multiple extractions. Gave me a private percription despite being an NHS patient that doesn't pay for perscriptions. Didn't explain there was various foods you shouldn't eat with this antibiotic such as banana or chocolate and as there was no paper in the box I was unaware until I googled it. DONT USE THIS DENTIST. RUDE AND UNHELPFUL
Negative experience: Been on hold now for 2 and half hours baring in mind I started off at 6 in the que I can't see possibly what people are on the phone for, for that long it's just too book an appointment I joined up over 6 weeks ago was told I would get a phonecall when I was all joined up this is what this call is for and then to hopefully get my daughter in for her 1st cheak up. So yeah still currently on hold and been no1 in the the que for now 50 minutes
Negative experience: Worst dentist I have ever been with. You can never get a appointment spent an hour and fourth minutes on hold trying to get through and book a appointment for my daughter only for them to hang up. When I've got through in the past cannot get a appointment for weeks or months for my children but if a rang up for myself I could get one within the week they are only interested in paying customers
Negative experience: Would not recommend this Dentist to anyone! Finally got my fillings corrected since February and now they’ve done the wrong two teeth…..unbelievable!!!! They never answer the phones or emails! There’s never a manager there to answer your queries or complaints? Dreadful place!
Negative experience: Worst dentist practice I have been to. Went back in February for a check up and needed further treatment. Which was rebooked for mid March, I felt pretty ill the day before my appointment, so tried calling to reschedule it. Tried for ages and wasn’t getting anywhere in the queue, the number was only going down when people was giving up, I emailed in advance and again called in the morning when they was open. Spent over 2 hours on the phone to cancel, whilst trying to work which was next to impossible. Finally cancelled and refused to call to rearrange another appointment, asked if they could call me/email me - took weeks to sort something. I don’t understand why they are struggling so much to answer the phone, surely just higher someone else to help support the reception team, although when I’ve been there’s been 2 people each time. Finally went today for my filling, the dentist came out and mumbled my name so had to check, followed her into the room and she pushed the door close after she walked in. Thought that was rude. Then needed some X-rays as apparently couldn’t have them due to it being broken last time, at no point was this mentioned to me. Had the X-rays which was put in my mouth awkwardly digging in and painful. At this point I felt a bit uncomfortable, not sure if the dentist has done the job for long. As today’s dentist was the same as last time due to him leaving in between my last visit. Then had my filling put in and she asked how it is. I said it feels raised, she tried to sort it. Asked 3 times in the end if it felt ok, which now it was getting awkward as I’ve never had this with a filling before, it still feels uncomfortable. I also mentioned about having sore bits on my gums and wanted to discussion that but we didn’t in the end.
Negative experience: Would give it a zero if I could, rung up at 8.30 am Friday morning was number one in the que but was on hold for over an hour and a half, had to go to the clinic in the end to get an emergency appointment, got one for Saturday as I was in a lot of pain from a filling that had fallen out put in by the same dentist, I see the dentist Saturday done an xray then was told what needed doing was beyond the dentist capabilities to which I asked why I was sent to see you if you cannot do any thing was not told what was wrong, so had to make another appointment which I went to on Monday, had yet another xray which I had to pay for even though I had one two days previous, then was told what was needed and that I also have an infection, I asked to get done what was needed to be told they couldn’t do it and that I’d have to book yet another appointment! Wasn’t offered any antibiotics or advice for the infection will never use this dentist again.
Negative experience: This place goes from bad to extremely bad, let's start with front of house lad on reception trying his best but he has no support told me he is too busy to even be able to answer a phone call, this company have a policy of taking people's money before there appointment they actually have no right to do this but fail to inform the patients, DO NOT PAY!! until day of your treatment, they are sitting on your hard earned money and making on the interest paid. Also although they have NHS patients, if you have an exemption for the NHS Dental work such as fillings, extractions, root canal, You are not going to get it done at Southcliff unless you pay, All in all a total disgrace, you have been warned.
Negative experience: Receptionist didn't no what was going on with anything and my treatment was shocking they stick 2 temporary filling in and said I can book another check up in 6 months.. I said but I need loads of work done on my teeth she reply u have to book private for that..... so if ur nhs don't expect any work done its absolutely shocking
Negative experience: Went in to ask if they were accepting new private patients. Whilst standing in the queue it was chaos. People shouting and swearing at the receptionists because dentists hadn’t turned up or had left the practice. After eventually getting to the front of the queue was told to fill a form out and haven’t heard a thing since. Everyone was filling out universal credit forms and it appears that the dentists aren’t being correctly paid so are leaving. It’s your worst nightmare. Left there and went straight round the corner to Bupa who were friendly professional and had three appointments next day. Avoid this place like the plague!!!!
Negative experience: Started as a new patient in December.almost impossible to get through on the phone but did get a check up done quickly. Made an appointment for a few months later for a clean and as with all treatments there I had to pay up front. My appointment was scheduled for tomorrow but I received a message over the weekend cancelling it and telling me to reschedule. Phoned a couple of times but found myself in a queue each time so last time decided to hold as I was number five. I was on hold for nearly two hours before finally getting answered, I advised the person that answered that I didn’t need another appointment as the treatment was planned to be before my holiday so requested a refund. I was told that they could not do that, I would need to come in and fill in a form and see the manager, who apparently is only there tomorrow. I asked why they couldn’t do this over the phone as I do not live in Dover but was told that was the process- I need to see the manager and fill in a form and then it has to be approved by head office. What a very dated system and a shocking way to treat people. If I could find a dentist locally I wouldn’t use them again but unfortunately I can’t.
Fantastic experience: It feels more organised than it did on my last visit, the guy on reception was polite and helpful, and the hygienist was great! She made me feel at ease and was easy to talk to, however, she’s another one who is not staying because she’s not getting paid on time, which is madness as she’s a great advert with her beautiful white smile, I also overheard the NHS dentist walked out for the same reason which means they can’t undertake intrusive operations! Hopefully they address these issues and it will be a great place
Negative experience: Don’t come here, so many better dentists in Dover (every single one). This practice is ann absolutely filthy, unorganised mess. Needs shutting down. Been in multiple times and it just keeps getting dirtier. I told the receptionist that they need a cleaner as it’s disgusting in here. His reply - “I know”. Avoid like the plague.
Fantastic experience: Reception are busy but always welcome and get to you asap. Brilliant with my LG who's 5. And very helpful with myself and sort problems giving info and help.
Negative experience: Worst experience trying to call them. Was waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes to know abkut my child's appointment. Finally no one picked up the call and i got frustrated and disconnected the call. This is very bad and made so stressed.
Fantastic experience: I had my 1st appointment today with my wife who was having her 2nd appointment, She went 1st and I watched, exceptional service and then my turn, and the Dentist was excellent, whether she had picked up on my nerves I'm not so sure but she was extremely thorough, and after the initial exam took 3 Xrays, then set me on track for the forthcoming treatment that lays ahead as its been sometime since I've seen a Dentist in Dover. Exceptional service thank you all. Today I had my follow-up appointment and again I got 5 star service, I had an extraction of a root, as well as a couple of fillings, from the friendly receceptionists to the dentist and nurse, I would highly recommend them all. It's that time of year so 25/08/2023 Today we saw a Dental Technician and he was very thorough and professional, my wife needs her filling renewed next week, 5 star service from the NHS again Today 27/2/24 I had a check up and booked in for some fillings. Again a 5 star review
Negative experience: Had appointment booked as I was in agony, got down to the office and they said there was no NHS dentist anymore. They promptly tried to charge me £250.00. I walked away still in pain
Fantastic experience: Was a good time to visit as it was quite went straight in had an X-ray and chat with the dental technician , now waiting for slot for an extraction hopefully soon . Cant fault them really as they have a lot pressure especially when there’s only one receptionist .today there was two so it was relatively straight forward and they were helpful too
Fantastic experience: Great very friendly and dr Ajith nair was amazing had some work done to be corrected and he manage to get it spot on im so pleased with my new smile ! Also the receptionist was so lovely and helpful to get me book in straight thanks so much ! Very happy all in all 5 stars from me
Negative experience: Service was poor, told the dentist I had lost a filling since last visit and had a problem with another tooth. Ignored that ,said you are fine see you in 6 months. That is rubbish treatment, you seem to be just paying lip service to your NHS commitments.
Fantastic experience: Delighted to be seen very quickly for a broken tooth - this practice has a can do if it possibly can attitude. All of the team I have come into contact with have been excellent.
Fantastic experience: My wife and I had only been able to see a dentist once in 4 years, due to the pandemic and also because our last dentist stopped offering NHS treatment. South Cliff took us onto their NHS list without question, although it took a couple of months to get registered. I've already had my first check-up, and some minor treatment, which went well with no discomfort. The staff are very caring, and clearly explain what they're doing. They're always busy but stay patient and understanding. If you're a paying patient, they take payment in advance, to encourage people to turn up to appointments. All in all, a very good dental surgery.
Fantastic experience: After having such a bad experience with a dentist on the same street, where I got refused and shouted at by the receptionist for asking to get a appointment as I had a cavity in my front tooth which was a shame as I had been a existing patient of theirs for around 8 years. Walking into this place was amazing the staff at reception was so friendly and welcoming and was concerned as I stated I had a cavity and they got me booked in for a check up within 2 days. off the back of that visit I had fillings and a scale and polish all within a week and a half of my first visit. The dentist I saw was second to none, by far the best experience I have ever had at a dentist. Not sure how, but the filling I had was done so well I can’t even see it and it’s on my front teeth. He then got me in for a scale and polish and it feels so good, I’m so happy with how my teeth look 10/10 service. What people need to realise they are busy and they may not be able to answer you call immediately as if you have ever been in there they do not stop working but will do their best to help as much as they can. So glad I found a dentist that actually cares. Give these lot a pay rise .
Fantastic experience: Finally got a dentist and was they worth the wait? ABSOLUTELY, very friendly at the desk, and the dentist is top notch couldn’t ask for more. Very happy
Fantastic experience: My husband and I were unable to see our own dentist since before lockdown and hadn't had even a check up since then. We called in on the off-chance to see if we could register with South Cliff and was able to book a check up and consequently had fillings within 2 weeks. The dentist was amazing it was pain free! We won't have any concerns when we go back to see him.
Fantastic experience: Lovely my children haven't been to a dentist in a very long time. They was so lovely to my children. My 8 year old was very scared once on the chair she was laughing away happy. Thank you
Positive experience: NHS. You have to pay just under £26 when you book a dental therapist. Card payments only Waiting room is very small but clean. Both receptionists overworked trying to deal with customers at the desk and on the phone. Dentists chair was broken so you had to jump up to get on it. Overall the staff are friendly and helpful. Quick to get an appointment and treatment. Just the reception staff need more of a helping hand
Fantastic experience: I have recently registered with this practice, I can only comment on the service that I have recieved, the staff and dentists are professional and courteous, they keep you informed re your appointments and explain everything to you. I recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely top rate service! I needed to see a dentist urgently on a Saturday and my own dentist was closed but South Cliff came to my rescue! The receptionist was so helpful and friendly and the dentist I saw was great and fixed my tooth perfectly! To be seen on the same day by a dentist that is not your own is amazing! Thank you South Cliff! I would totally recommend this practice!
