Fantastic experience: I went today to Damira dental surgery, the beautiful Sameena Khan is my dentist I can't thank her enough not just for her professionalism and the way she works but for her extreme kindness as well. Sameena does make her patient feels soooo comfortable from the time she comes downstairs to let you in the room until the finish. Sameena makes you feel like you are the only patient she works with. Sameena does really care about her patients, give them a sincere advice about their teeth this makes me ,personally, feel like she cares about our teeths just like if they were hers ... Negative experience: Partner and I have been registered for a number of years. Booked an appointment for my wife as she is currently pregnant and should get free dental care. She turned up and got refused, apparently no NHS dental appointments available even though this was specifically mentioned when booked. They said we can pay for it and see them now but decided I'd rather pay someone else. They also mentioned they called to let us know they can't see us. Yes they did. Exactly five minutes before the appointment. Thought they were completely rude and unprofessional and if I'm paying anyway, I'd rather go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I am a relatively new patient at Damira and I have found the practice very well organised and responsive to patient. For a few weeks I have been receiving treatment from Hamza Adeel who is the best dental surgeon I have ever had. He is precise, patient and dedicated in finding solutions. I am usually very nervous but found prolonged drilling easy to stand (I can even relax!) Hamza is also clear and thoughtful in explaining what he does, which is in itself reassuring. He has saved one of my teeth which had been deemed doomed by another practitioner. I cannot commend him enough.

Negative experience: Dental checkup and hygienist appointments were fine. I had paid for the latter one online already, when I had booked in Jan 25. When I wanted to pay my dental checkup I was charged an extra £5 for the hygienist without any explanation, as the prices apparently went up on 01 Jan 25. However, when I had paid in 3rd wk. Jan 25, the prices online were still the old ones, from 2024? 3 weeks later? I only found out when asking for more detail on my overall invoice. For some reason I left it there, but shouldn’t have, as I shouldn’t have to pay this, when the practice makes a mistake and doesn’t update their online payment accordingly. Both ladies at reception were not willing to accept the practise’s mistake though… I’m still quite crossed.

Fantastic experience: Sam is a phenomenal Dentist. She recognises patients that suffer from anxiety, takes notes and is very warm, fantastic at what she does and very patient, explaining the procedure as she carries out the work. I must say I was very satisfied with the care provided, it was the first time my son had a filling just with an injection. The dentist Dr. Berrada and the assistant Arviola were very reassuring and friendly to my son. I really appreciated the understanding and attention towards my son, he felt at ease and comfortable. Fantastic experience: Can't fault this dental practice, been with them for many years. The reception staff are always friendly and efficient, as for my dentist "Sam" she is also friendly and very professional, only does what needs to be done, makes you aware of what you're doing right and what you're not doing so well with regard to your oral hygiene and doesn't try to force you down the route of additional work but makes you aware of what is available should you want to go that route. We are NHS but don't feel we are being treated any differently to a private patient.

Negative experience: A dentures made for me was wrong, since I went to collected this was no fit well. I was no able to use due a pain, I was not able to talk, to eat, and I told the doctor that it is wrong, and the dentures caused me a mouth ulcers. I have informed to the doctor but I have advised from him to try it. After unsuccessful 3 following visits, they want to me pay despite I am no able to use it, and they suggested to make a claim to the NHS.

Fantastic experience: I have been very impressed with the service from Damira since registering with them about 3 or 4 years ago. In that time I have been treated by 2 female dentists, both of whom have been extremely professional and caring. The second and current dentist pulled the stops out when I was found to have a cyst in my jaw (which thankfully proved to be benign and subsequently cleared up on its own), and arranged a fast hospital appointment for me. Damira's other staff are also very helpful and professional.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased to find an NHS dentist within an hour from me! On my first visit to Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue, I was seen by dentist Vinusha (29 Nov 2024) which is paid for under the NHS contract as I receive pension credit. Yesterday (16 Dec 2024) I was seen by Damira's hygienist, Swaathy which is private as NHS does not pay for this. Both did a splendid job, they were professional (& helpful) in their dealing with me. They were both polite & guided me in telling me what to do & what not to do when it came to cleaning teeth, and looking after gums etc. There was no rushing about, and no panicking as I have experienced over the decades I was with other (mostly all private) dental practices. I found the reception at Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue helpful & professional in all aspects of their work. They are there to make appointments, deal with incoming & outgoing patients, to take payment / refunds & are generally very helpful, especially helping parents with babies and toddlers. When you make an appointment, come earlier, not 'on time'. It sounds pedantic but It only takes one or two people to arrive late to disrupt timings for those waiting. I personally had to wait over a hour longer than my appointment time due to some folk 'flying in' looking harassed. This was (obviously) a problem with traffic & school pick-up time & a couple of patients coming in and going out several times which the receptionists were trying to deal with while also dealing with other work they are interrupted and looking after a baby while mum was getting her teeth attended to. Not anyone's fault for the situation but it was all managed professionally by the two young ladies. For those who complain = Organise your appointment as though you were visiting your doctor, you cannot be late for that either, so try harder! I was an hour early for my first appointment as I had to find The Avenue after a (short) bus ride but a very long walk, early just in case I had to fill in some forms too, so total time spent was two & half hours when the appointment was just a 'simple' (first) check-up. I did not mind as I have been retired for over a decade, have no children to collect from school or be in when they got home or return to work! But I did have wait over 40 mins for a bus which was annoying as i was getting dark & the bus was nearly full. I hope to be a patient at Damira Dental Practice @ The Avenue for the foreeable future. Fantastic experience: Before I start I would like to point out that I am petrified of the dentist; this was explained to the receptionist and I was very apprehensive and nervous before my appointment. I was booked in after my check up for a filling and a clean. Sam was so lovely, very accommodating, understanding and supportive. I was reassured throughout and that was probably the first thorough clean I have ever had. Great aftercare and general advice for looking after teeth and gums, and answered any questions I had, didn’t feel rushed at all. Honestly can’t thank you enough. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, our country is currently facing a recruitment crisis for NHS dentists. Despite our best efforts, due to the nationwide shortage of dentists we are struggling to provide routine care appointments under the NHS to most of our patients. This therefore means we are currently not in the position to register new patients under the NHS.
Damira Dental Studios have always serviced both private patients and NHS patients. All dentists are self-employed and split their time between NHS and private care. As there is less demand for private services, we can offer this alternative for new patients wishing to register at the practice for routine care. Damira payment plan is always offered as an option because it is the most affordable and efficient approach to becoming a private patient at the practice.

Negative experience: I initially had an appointment at 10:30am on 8th August 2024. I was sent a text to say this was cancelled, with no reason as to why. I was told that I had to contact Damira to reschedule my cancelled appointment. I tried to do this the same day but couldn't get through to anyone. I managed to finally get through to someone on 7th August 2024, who rebooked my appointment for 4:40pm on the 8th August 2024. It usually takes me around 40-50 mins to get to Damira from where I live. I usually leave much earlier than this anyway, to get there ahead of time, in case of any issues. On this occasion there was a huge amount of traffic and my journey took around 1 hour and 45 mins. Unfortunately, as a result I got to Damira around 11-12 mins late. I ran in and met the receptionist, and told her my appointment was 4:40pm and she said "As you're soooo late, we've cancelled your appointment". I apologised for my lateness and explained that I'd been held up in severe traffic and how it had taken so much longer to get there. She was unsympathetic and curtly stated that I'd been removed from the system as I was over 10 mins late. I explained I was only there for a check up, so it would only take a few mins as I was there now. She then tried to explain to me that, apparently within the 1-2 mins I was over the 10 mins late period that they accommodate, they had completely closed every single surgery room and everything had been fully cleaned and removed. So there was no way they were going to set everything back up. I was not informed of this 10 minute late period and even so, most businesses offer 15 mins as a courtesy. She basically just wanted to go home and couldn't care less about me or my appointment. She essentially just gave me the 'computer says no' argument and refused to help me, other than offering to book me in for another appointment the following week. I am usually very empathetic and understanding of these conditions and if I was over 20-30 mins late, then I wouldnt complain. As it would be justified. But in this situation I had almost a 3 hour round trip with nothing to show for it. The lack of assistance and empathy from the receptionist was shocking. Her only goal was to get rid of me as quick as possible so she could go home. I am very disappointed in this outcome and how Damira conducts business in this manner.

Positive experience: Very glad to have been accepted as an NHS patient. This is a very lovely surgery, friendly and efficient. I saw a locum for a check up, who in her own words was "robotic", when I asked to be told what she was going to do before she did it. She was grateful for the feedback. A little more gentle approach when handling and opening the mouth/lips, would have been welcome and is encouraged. Hence the 4*. I will return. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I visited my dentist Damira at highams park. My dentist Deepti put me at ease as soon as I walked through the door. She explained what would be happening before my treatment started. She was very attentive making sure throughout the proceedure I was OK. After the treatment she advised me what may happen later that day and the necessary steps to make my mouth comfortable and to heal well.
