My new dentist (George) was reassuringly gentle and explained everything with just the right level of detail (including diagrams). Fantastic experience: Second Visit July 2025 - Since Google won’t let me post a new review, I’m updating this one. On my second visit, once again, everything was smooth and seamless, from the reception team to Dr. Olusola Ojo and the assistant in the room. Dr. Olusola is extremely friendly, polite, and easy to talk to. He always welcomes you with a warm smile and a positive attitude. Even though it was a dental appointment, we still managed to chat about things like holidays abroad and a few other topics, which made the visit feel much more relaxed and personal. Even as I was leaving, all the receptionists warmly said goodbye and “see you soon,” which was a lovely touch and genuinely encourages me to keep coming back. I truly enjoy visiting William Place Dentist because everyone there is incredibly friendly and welcoming. It really makes all the difference. Keep up the great work guys! First Visit December 2024 - My journey from start to finish was great, the receptionist team was very attentive and super friendly and answered few questions that I wasn’t to sure about. The first interaction was seamless and made me feel great. Dr Saffa Dean - showed tremendous service, who is very solution focused and took time to get to know her patient. Usually I am quite hesitant going to the dentist but after this visit/ experience I am sure I’ll return and see Dr Safa again when it comes to my next checkup after 6 months time. The colleague with Dr Safa (didn’t catch her name) was also great, who answered few of my questions which I wasn’t sure about, please congratulate her as well. Usually people are very quick to give negative feedback and reluctant on giving great/good feedback. I thought I’ll take this opportunity and highlight how great your staff members were as they are true ambassadors of your dental practice.
Hakim — you’ve done it again! Thank you so much for coming back and for taking the time to update your review. We’re thrilled to hear your second visit was just as seamless and positive, and that Dr Olusola and the whole team made you feel so welcome.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely hate visiting the dentist, it’s my worst nightmare, today I had a hygienist appointment and I was absolutely petrified the night before because I just don’t like it and it’s just so uncomfortable for me. Anyway today I saw a lovely dental hygienist her name was Anna Kelb, she was absolutely fantastic, I told her I have dental anxiety and she assured me that I will be fine. She was amazing! She made sure I was ok every time a sensitive area hit and every step of the cleaning and she also lowered the level of the machine she used for the teeth cleaning, I thought that was lovely and very thoughtful! I don’t feel scared about visiting the dentist hygienist again knowing she’s there! She’s very good!!! Cannot fault her ar her! :)

Negative experience: Edited again now: 08/07/24 Whether it be 6 years ago or 10 years ago the fact remains the same.. you guys conned me.. in fact by reading a lot of your reviews I'm not surprised at all because what happened to me happened to a hell lot more people at your dentist.. your excuse isn't good enough.. if what you say is how things happen at your dentist than you or your staff should have mentioned it to me before starting the procedure which of course I paid for I wouldn't have gone through with at all. You guys know how to con people because after taking the payment from me I was told I have to pay for the second visit also.. very cunning. 8th July 24 Was told by the dentist to make an appointment with the hygienist to have my teeth cleaned and stains removed. I was told I had to pay £52 for the hygienist appointment which I did even though I’m registered disabled and qualify for free NHS treatments. The appointment was today 12/10/2018 Friday. During the cleaning, the hygienist said he’d be unable to complete the cleaning today and that he’d need to see me again to finish the job and told me to book another appointment at the reception. When I asked the receptionist to book another appointment I was told that I’d have to pay another £52. I asked why I had to pay again when the hygienist himself told me he was unable to finish today and to come back again... I was told because it’s another session... I declined to pay again and demanded that they either give me another appointment without further payment or a refund at which they refused refund and refused further appointment to finish the unfinished treatment. As I can see from other similar reviews this type of acquiring money by deception is a regular occurrence at this practice I’d suggest people stay away from this practice and if others were scammed like I have then make a complaint to the NHS Dental Helpline and ask for a refund. I have already sent a complaint letter via email and am waiting reply further to this I’m seeking legal advice for medical gross misconduct by way of acquiring payment by deception. Furthermore.. the receptionist was very rude and at one point was shouted at and asked to leave the premises just because I was asking to speak to someone in charge. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. PLENTY OF OTHER GOOD DENTISTS OUT THERE.

For instance, shorter hygienist appointments (20-30 minutes) currently costing £71, are designed for patients with excellent home care routines who require minimal support. Conversely, patients with gum disease may require longer and/or multiple appointments to effectively manage their condition, followed by regular maintenance visits.
Our commitment is to provide high-quality care while treating all patients with respect and dignity. We also expect our staff to be treated with the same respect. We reserve the right to bar patients from our practice if they exhibit unacceptable behavior, such as shouting at our staff. When trust has broken down, it is often in the best interest of both the patient and the practice for the patient to seek care elsewhere.

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed of the manner how the receptionist speak. Very rude and you feel worthless. I think the reception staff need further training of how to speak to the general public. There's no excuse of speaking to people in a rude manner. Although your details were once on our system, you never actually attended an appointment with us. Your record had been archived due to inactivity, and when you got back in touch, we provided the same options we offer to all potential patients. Unfortunately, once it became clear that we were unable to offer NHS care — something we communicated transparently — your tone towards our reception team became increasingly unpleasant. We are a primarily private clinic that also provides some NHS treatment. At present, we are unfortunately unable to offer any additional NHS appointments.
Our limited NHS provision is currently reserved for:
– Existing patients already undergoing treatment
– Those with pre-scheduled NHS appointments
Our NHS waiting list is also closed.
This is due to strict limitations on our NHS contract, including:
– Only 3 of our 9 surgeries are NHS-funded
– We are projected to exceed our annual NHS allocation
These restrictions are entirely outside of our control.
We’ve raised our concerns with NHS England and have actively engaged with our local MP, Uma Kumaran, about the need for more NHS dental funding — but sadly, this has not resulted in any change.

Understanding NHS Dental Care
It’s a common misconception that patients can be “registered” on the NHS in the same way as with a GP. This is not how NHS dentistry works.
Under the current NHS dental contract, care is provided on a treatment-by-treatment basis — depending on both local availability and government funding. This means there is actually no such thing as an "NHS patient" or “registered on the NHS” in the context of the current NHS dental contract.
Due to underfunding, NHS dental care currently covers only about 40–50% of the population in England. Many practices, must prioritise children when allocating limited NHS appointments — making it especially difficult for adults to access care.

A Word on Mental Health and Respect
We absolutely sympathise with anyone experiencing mental health struggles, and our team is trained to approach every interaction with kindness and professionalism.
But it’s also our duty to protect the wellbeing of our staff — especially our reception team, who are on the front lines of an increasingly strained healthcare system. Sadly, verbal abuse (whether in person or over the phone) is becoming all too common when NHS frustrations boil over.

Positive experience: Off-Peak services are very much appreciated as it is the only way I can afford dental care. The staff at reception is very friendly and I always get answers super fast to any questions or requests I have. The practice is clean, and everyone is very profesional. I had recently a descale for an ok price and also a check up with an amazing dentist. No complains with the staff. My problem is the pricing. I had a crown re-cemented at a wooping £83. With NHS pricing this service at £16.64 ,I feel like it is an exaggerated price... I bumped into a neighbour later and they asked who is my dentist and the reply I got to my answer is 'oooh I know them, very pricey!' That is the 3 star reasoning. The difference between NHS pricing and private is huge. I did try to get in as an NHS patient but I never got a place...

We’d like to clarify some aspects of your review regarding NHS pricing. NHS dental charges in England haven’t been as low as £16.64 for nearly 20 years. The most up-to-date fees are available here: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/dentists/how-much-will-i-pay-for-nhs-dental-treatment/. As of April 2024, the lowest NHS fee (Band 1) is £26.80, with a 2.3% increase due in April 2025. The figure you mentioned may refer to NHS Scotland, which operates under a different system.
NHS fees are government-subsidised, meaning patients pay only part of the actual cost. Private dentistry, however, is fully patient-funded. Our private fees are carefully structured, and in fact, lower than many private practices in our area. To make care more accessible, we offer off-peak pricing for check-ups and hygiene appointments, some of the most competitive rates in London. We also provide flexible finance options to help spread the cost.
Understanding Private Fees
We appreciate that dental fees can seem high, but to put it in perspective, a women’s haircut can range from £50–£100. A dental appointment involves highly trained professionals (dentist, nurse, and support staff), specialist equipment (X-rays, sterilisation units), and operational costs (insurance, IT systems, rent, compliance, high-quality materials). The cost of delivering dental care has risen significantly, but we work hard to keep our prices competitive while maintaining the highest standards of care and safety.
NHS Dental Services
We do offer some NHS treatments, but unfortunately, we are unable to offer additional NHS appointments at this time. Our NHS waiting list is closed, and we can only see existing patients already booked into our diary. This is due to strict limitations on our NHS contract, including:
• NHS funding covering only 3 of our 9 surgeries, restricting availability.
• A fixed NHS capacity, which we are projected to exceed.
We have actively lobbied for increased NHS funding with NHS England and our local MP, Uma Kumaran, but without success so far.

Fantastic experience: My dentist Yasmin was awesome, really good at walking me through all my options. Talked me through the costings whilst acknowledging the larger costs that might be involved in the future. I did not feel I was been upsold a whole load of unnecessary procedures when cheaper options are available. The sole reason why I did not trust my last dentist and asked to be moved. I am glad I did instead of finding a new practise. I may have to update after I have the actual procedures in March.

Negative experience: I cannot express the pain I have just gone through due to a bad quality procedure done at this clinic. I had to have a filling replaced as it had started leaking. I had the filling done, and immediately I started experiencing issues. Food kept getting stuck because of the form of the new filling (it had a ledge) and I was experiencing excruciating pain. After 10 days of consistent pain, I got a follow up appointment to have the filling examined and check if it had gotten infected. The dentist (I don't want to mention her name because I don't want to make this look like an attack) told me everything was fine and the pain was normal. The filling was not infected, we just had to keep an eye out in case we needed to do root canal treatment, as when she carried out the filling, the gap was deeper than expected. Another 10 days pass and I have a spike of pain. I am crying uncontrollably, it is torture. I call 111 and they give me an emergency appointment at another clinic in East London. When the emergency dentist sees the filling, she said it was the poorest quality filling she'd ever seen in her career. The ledge was prominent and accumulating plaque regardless of my extensive efforts to floss consistently. I had the filling and my nerve removed. I am due to have root canal treatment done later this week, which I wish had been recommended to me as the first course of action to avoid the immeasurable pain I have just been put through. The fact I went back with issues after the original treatment and I was told everything was ok, makes things even worse. Do NOT use this clinic.
