Genix Healthcare Dental Clinic (Whitley Bay)

Negative experience: Turned up early for my 2.10 appointment to reattach an old crown ( jJuly 1st) only to be told it had been cancelled ,no reason given, hung about for 15mins then left. I am a 72yr old disabled man and it takes quite an effort to attend appointments ,this is now the second time this has happened to me at this practice. No contact or communication ,reasons or apologies' since, and as I am a private patient I will take my business elsewhere Note Contact me?, now August 19th, not a word

Fantastic experience: Fantastic dental clinic. My dentist mustafa is amazing. Dentist can be a very anxious experience but I trust him completely. Recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and it was removed completely pain free with no complications. Out in one piece and this thing was huge with a curved root. No complications afterwards. Fab aftercare advice. Really lovely clinic and team from reception to dentists .

I was very grateful as I am normally very nervous about going to the dentist due to childhood memories however, this dentist makes me feel relaxed and he is very professional. I would definitely recommend this dentist and I will be making my next appointment soon.

Fantastic experience: I have been with the practice for a couple of years. My dentist is Dr BEATA BINIEK. What a wonderful, professional and highly skilled dentist she is. I have really bad teeth from when I was born through grinding them really badly. Had many different treatments over the years, so my teeth are really fragile. She is always taking great care of my mouth, and being very gentle but solid with it. Thank you Dr Beata! I cant comment on receptionists, as I am always patiently waiting for my appointments. Without prompting the staff to book me in sooner. I had one emergency booking, as I was in pain. Got the appointment next day, though. So that was fine with me.

Negative experience: Private paying, not NHS. Seen by Emma, nice person, easy to deal with. Had two teeth needing work. 1. Upper left molar... Previous filling done by another dentist at a an unrelated practice, had hot/cold sensitivity, and pressure pain when eating months after it. Emma redid this filling, no more hot sensitivity, but cold sensitivity remains, slight pressure pain from time to time, but not enough for me to want to risk getting it worked on again. 2. Molar directly behind it, it had been worked on by 2 different dentists one retired, it had cold drink sensititivy (sharp), Emma put something on the side of it at the sensitive part, this greatly reduced the sensititivty, still there, but I can live with it, it's mild. 3. Bottom right molar, zero pain or sensititivty from me, or any other symptoms of any kind I had noticed, I had no idea anything was wrong with it. No cavity visible to the naked eye, nor using a camera I got from amazon. Emma said there was decay visible on the xray, she pointed to a darker bit, what she said made sense so I agreed to have it filled. It now has sensitivity to hot food... scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being highest for pain... it's a 3 - 4, with sensitivity lingering anything from a couple of minutes to an hour before going away. 4. Upper right mollar, same again... zero pain or sensititivty from me, or any other symptoms, I had no idea anything was wrong with it. No cavity visible to the naked eye, nor using a camera I got from amazon. Emma said there was decay visible on the xray, she pointed to a darker bit, what she said made sense so I agreed to have it filled, same as molar 3. It now has both sensitivity to hot food/drink and pressure pain when eating, or when I press against it with my finger. Pain scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being highest... Hot food/hot drink pain = it fluctuates from a 3 to a 6, and is lingering longer as time goes by. I ate 30 minutes ago, it's settled down to a 3 after being a 6, it'll probably go away after an hour in total, until I eat or drink something hot again. Sometimes it lasts 10 minutes, sometimes it lasts an hour, perhaps depending on the temperature of the food or coffee. Pressure pain... varies... a 5 to a 7 if I catch it the wrong way or push on it with my finger at a specific area... briefly, sharp pain, then stops leaving sensititivty (hot food/drink) I asked for tooth 4 to be redone, when it was less of a problem (it's worse now).. with amalgam since it's a deep filling, Emma said can't be done, too close to blood vessels and nerve after another xray, and that she normally only does composite (white filling). She offered to redo part of it with composite, with a try and see if it works approach, not inspiring me with confidence, she said if the amalgam goes wrong it could be root canal hence can't do amalgam. As a lay person, I went from having zero noticeable symptoms of any kind in tooth 3 and 4 to pain in both, and talking about potential root canal in tooth 4 and this being on two teeth with zero symptoms felt or seen by me. Instinct said get another opinion... but getting an appointment privately with dentists with good reviews... 6+ weeks or more waiting times. I'm in the middle of a house move so I'm stuck between a rock and hard place. I'm not going back to a dentist who causes new pain I didn't have before, many weeks after fillings that I didn't know I needed, that doesn't settle down after weeks. ChatGPT says lingering sensitivity to hot food or drink, is a red flag for irreversible pulpitis with root canal or extraction highly likely. Needless to say, I wish I had never gone to Genix Whitley Bay.

Negative experience: Was told needed a longer appointment and a deep clean as bleeding gums. Was in the chair 6 minutes and that was it Teath no different just bleeding as very rough and very rushed

Negative experience: Constantly having the phone put down and have been removed because I missed 1 appointment with the new dentist that tool over been here for years all my children are their disgusting behaviour from the practice

Negative experience: Incredibly rude guy handling the front desk and calls. Was going to pay almost £2k for braces and was asked to come in for 5/10 minutes just to take measurements. I rang early and asked to move as it as I had to pick up my son who had been sent home sick. I was happy to move it to later in the day or another day seeing as I was told originally it wasn't a proper appointment and the guy on the phone got aggressive and told me I'd be charged and even blacklisted if I cancelled?! Is that how you treat people about to drop that amount of money on treatment? Suffice to say I never bothered calling back to re-arrange and am happy to pay that money to another dentist.

Fantastic experience: My name is Leah and I am 50 year old v v nervous patient. I cannot recommend my dentist and my dental nurse enough. Patient, kind, thoughtful, considerate, professional. They take their time with me even though they are so busy, they explain everything to me. My poor nurse has no hands left after today as she held my hand through 2 extractions. She is superb as is the dentist .

Negative experience: I feel let down and neglected by genix I had been with the practice for a few years and never had any issues, I had dentures a palet and unfortunately they were destroyed by a dog, when I called to make an appointment I was told I was no longer an NHS patient and would have to go private as I hadn't seen the dentist for 2 years apparently this was or is a new rule from new management, I certainly had not and have never received any correspondence from genix in the whole Time I've been with them. I do not understand how anyone is able to abide by rules that they are not aware of, I tried to explain on a number of occasions that I hadn't been to the dentist as my teeth are false so therefore I don not suffer from any dental pain and to make things worse this was during covid. I was advised by a member of staff to write an email which I did and it did not even get opened or acknowledged so I spoke to the nice lad again and he told me the manager was at her desk at that precise time in front of her computer and to send the email again so I did and still no reply they said they could only help me if I went private paid £60 for a consultation and then it would cost around £800 for my top set that they already have the mould for since have really suffered with my mental health my confidence and physical health I can't chew my food so I have been choking I've had the paramedics out a couple of times and have lost drastic weight my doctor has even written me a referral letter and I am still being ignored and disregarded. The professional conduct, care and general care and compassion does not exist.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with the dentist. I didn’t feel any pain when he refilled my cavity and cleaned my teeth. He explained every step thoroughly and always made sure I was comfortable. Highly recommend him!

Stephanie is so lovely to deal with as I was super nervous to go to a dentist as I had not been in a long time. Stephanie explained everything clearly on what I need done. I returned to get a couple of main bits done by Stephanie and she was very welcoming and so friendly and reassuring throughout the whole process

Negative experience: Rude staff. Had a letter in post nearly 12 months since my last appointment telling me I have an outstanding payment of £65.20 without saying what for and that if I don’t pay it in 7 days they will send it to the debt collection agency. I have paid it straight away but They have now already recorded it on their system as bad debt and this means I am unable to receive certain appointments and treatments. My wife & I will 100% be finding a new dentist. Not sure why they didn’t just phone and ask politely?

Negative experience: Absolutely shambolic, 2 out of 2 times they have somehow messed up my scheduled appointments and had to ‘accommodate’ me. Also after shoe horning me and my mother in for our appointment (making us pay an extra which we still yet to be re in burst for) the lady who gave us our clean and polish is clearly in equipped/unqualified to do so. Leaving both me and my mothers teeth in pain and a state after a very rushed and extremely uncomfortable experience getting us in and out as quickly as possible. Truthfully I would never ever recommend anyone to use this place.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care from the staff at Genix. This is my second visit and Mustafa is so friendly and puts you at your ease. He has done an excellent job in particular on capping my deep root filling. Would recommend Genix to anyone.

Positive experience: Fantastic dentist and great treatments, spoiled by incredibly annoying multiple appointment reminders and asking if i’m still attending my appointment. And then asking for personal forms (already done at point of registration) to be completed every time we have an appointment. Sort your systems out Genix!

Negative experience: The staff is really nice and caring, but unfortunately can't say the same about the dental treatment I signed for a 12 month payment plan for two implants that were put in February and One came out within two weeks:( another one is healed but the tissue around the implant on one side is tender I feel it like a nerve. Ive been told its my body's reaction and it should be fine. Because thousands are paid and doctor said we have to stick to a plan for two implants, on 12 July I've been booked to Genix in Alnwick for a scan to see what is happening inside and to make a plan for further treatment. Genix in Whitley Bay where I received a treatment doesn't have a special scan machine, so I was told if I want to do it for free I should go to Alnwick this is an hour drive for me:( basically I will spend my day off travelling with the cost of fuel on top otherwise this kind of scan is £200 each, so unfortunately not much positive I can say about the experience so far and after this scan there will be another attempt to do second implant again, so don't know at all when I gonna get it sorted

Fantastic experience: Dentist Anil was really calming and I had my treatment feeling relaxed and less nervous than usual . I have a dentist anxiety from when I was younger. Bit disappointed I had ti pay again as I had only been in March and tooth broke following week so had appointment in April but it was cancelled to May therefore made the treatment fall out of the payment band and had to pay again EDIT The practice made contact and I was given a refund of the band difference . Thank you

Fantastic experience: I’m absolutely terrified on the dentist and have been looking for somewhere that has good reviews and I can honestly say this practice is amazing. The dentist as well as the reception staff were so lovely and understanding of my fears, they took extra time to go through things slowly with me so I wouldn’t get too anxious and I can’t recommend them enough. If all dentists were as caring and understanding as Genix there would be a lot less people scared to go.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, this wasn't a good experience. Although, everyone is lovely and kind. I felt scammed and it really was just about making me spend money instead of looking after my teeth/health. It's a very commercial dentist practice and I felt uncomfortable. I don't recommend and will not go back.
