Blackbrook Dental - Taunton Dentist

Negative experience: Rude receptionists who act as though they’re doing patients a favour simply by speaking to them. I had issues with this dentist surgery last year and, unfortunately, nothing has improved — something I have also heard echoed by other patients. To make matters worse, they claimed I had missed appointments that I never actually booked, which is both frustrating and unfair. I do not recommend this practice to anyone unless you want to be treated and spoken to as though you are a burden rather than a patient deserving care and respect. The reception team is the first point of contact and sets the tone for the entire experience — sadly, their unprofessional attitude completely undermines the surgery.

Positive experience: Appointment cancelled then rearranged I received text with new date but not on their records. New Appt given for next day. That was fine.

Negative experience: Receptionists were brilliant, so friendly and reassuring over the phone and then on the day of my emergency appointment. Sadly, the dentist I saw was not so good - was running late (it happens, not a problem in itself) so my consultation and then treatment was very rushed, I didn’t feel the treatment was explained fully beforehand or during the appointment. I’ve just been to another dentist who has made good their work.

Fantastic experience: Went to have advice on a sharp edge tooth. Old filling had come away. The dentist cleaned old filling out suggested a type of filling and why. Explained whole process. Absolutely first class service and most wonderful dentist and assistant.

Negative experience: Been at this dentist for a good number of years with NHS now first appointment private apparently I need all this work to my teeth teeth out that for years they said was fine just seeing like making lots of cash is top of the lust not happy. I don't have the funds to get treatment feel very let down ever though I keep up seeing the dentist.

Negative experience: Disappointed there's no longer an NHS dentist for children at Blackbrook It’s incredibly disappointing to learn that Blackbrook is no longer offering NHS places for children. Families in this community deserve access to basic dental care — especially when it comes to children, who are entitled to free NHS treatment. Surely there is enough profit generated from the private side of the practice — which costs an arm and a leg — to subsidise the NHS rates for local children. Not every family can afford private check-ups and treatment, and it's upsetting to think that kids may go without simply because of profit margins. Dental care shouldn't be a luxury. Our children deserve better. If all GPs decided to go private because it was more profitable, there would rightly be public outrage and government intervention. Something needs to be done urgently.

Negative experience: I called to say Im ill as Ive contracted the Flu, they said their policy is 24 hours notice (I tried to call yesterday but it was a bank holiday) and they will charge me. So I said "ok I will come in" their responce was "good they dont care if im ill as they wear masks". Not very thoughtful for their other customers and actually quite rude from the receptionist. Ive also requested invoices which never got sent. Over all the dentists seem good but the admin staff arent.

Fantastic experience: A broken tooth, nothing to be cheery about! But visiting Fernando at the Blackbrook Dental Practice is always a pleasant experience. Lovely Alison and Chenise greet you with a smile. Always efficient and friendly. Fernando is so gentle, I didn't even need anaesthetic. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment and was seen by Yana as my usual dentist was unavailable. She was brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly at all stages. She was so thorough unhurried, and even consulted a colleague to double check we had covered all bases before letting me leave. Going to the dentist is rarely something one totally enjoys but she made today's visit a total pleasure.

Fantastic experience: Was able to see my dentist Fernando Fiorini quickly after telephoning my problem receptionist was great listened to my problem and then book me in. Fernando is the Best dentist I’ve had in my 62 years and I have seen a few dentist in my life. Fernando comes out top he spends time listening to your problems then tells you how he will proceed and then does a first class job. I have no problem giving 5 stars to top dentist Fernando.

Fantastic experience: After a bad experience with another dentist at the same practice in the past, my fear of going to see a dentist got worse and i absolutely dreaded the thought of having to go. However I switched a few years ago now, to Rana and its the best thing i did. From the start she put me at ease and in the time ive been seeing her, she has totally changed how I feel about going. She's very knowledgeable and honest and doesn't push for you to have work done that's not essential. Wish all dentists were like her.

Positive experience: Had issues when they changed to private with adults being knocked of register. Daughter was on still, and was receiving NHS. Some years ago they started a plan which was sold as complementary to NHS, basically 5.00 per month to stay on books and get quicker appointments. This has risen to 10.99 pm. However it's moved around a lot and now does not include any NHS treatment so everything is chargeable for kids. The 2 appointments are free and basically your paying for everything else with the rodderick group. I wonder when the dentist industry will go thru miss selling process. Adults private or no treatment , Kids pay monthly fees and for treatment. Why uis National insurance being deducted at source ? Why are we as a nation exposing kids to possibility of unaffordable treatments. As to this particular surgery It will survive as the catchment is semi affluent. Receptionist talk as thou I'm silly for not understanding this has occurred, yet when challenged they become very officious.

The reception staff were very friendly. The dental surgeon, Christine, and her nurse were amazing. Very friendly, and explained things to me. I'll definitely be going back next year. Fantastic experience: Had an emergency appointment today with Martin , sadly this ended in two extractions, but had to be done. He explained my options clearly and painlessly took out the dead teeth. The worst part is the cost of replacements and the GURT great gap I’ve got for 6 weeks. Martin and his lovely assistant are very good tho and were sympathetic to my pain.

Fantastic experience: Perfect place to feel relaxed not like lakeside which felt too aseptic clinic with no open mind from the reception. Here in Blackbrook Dental we could speak about our case and the nice receptionist tried to find a solution to our problem. It was dealt the next day. Not as lakeside which would have been a month later even though we were clients. Martin is a excellent dentist which put you at ease and did a very professional job. Many thanks. Don and Carine

Negative experience: The dentist invited me to join a monthly payment plan as they were no longer seeing NHS patients, I joined one of the 3/4 monthly plan options. After three months you can book your first appointments which is what I did. Waited for the dentist, 15 minutes past my appointment time the receptionists explained to me that the dentist is refusing to see me as 'he doesn't get paid for another 9 months' as I'm so new into the plan and so essentially 'he is working working for free' if he fulfilled my appointment today. They asked if I wanted to pay upfront for the check up and the hygienist appointment that I was booked in for. A very frustrating experience, what is the point in offering the plan if you can't use it for 12 months and want you to pay upfront until you've paid 12 months on the plan.

The upshot of it was She did an incredible job and far outweighed my expectations! She and her assistant were reassuring, professional and supportive. Positive experience: No probs with the dentist himself always very professional, but do wonder why my niece, the patient, who also has learning difficulties, is being told she has to pay a £30 deposit to actually book an appointment for 6 months time!!!! Has always paid when she has to see the dentist. The practice must be making loads in interest from everyone who makes an appointment. Just not right!!!!! No NHS now private but still making extra money by taking deposits. Hope your are very proud if yourselves.

Fantastic experience: I could not have asked for a more professional and considerate care that was shown to me due to a broken tooth and infection. My fault due to not looking after my dental health. I didn’t feel judge and even though the extraction wasn’t possible I felt considered and supported throughout. The reception ladies were amazing too. Thank you. See you all again when the antibiotics have done their job.

Booking was simple and the surgery was able to see me next day. I saw Rumandeep who was from and informative. Great service from start to finish!
