Fantastic experience: I had stayed with my previous dentist for over 40 years, travelling right across London as I considered him a particularly good practitioner. When he retired last year I worried about finding a worthy replacement. I need not have worried. More by chance – it is the closest practice for me here in Greenwich – I came across Merivale and Kulvinder Sokhal. Kulvinder has shown me what it means to be a truly exceptional dentist. Over the past four months I have had a crown replaced, a tooth extracted and an implant fitted. As my teeth have unusually long roots it seemed initially a rather daunting prospect. Kulvinder is a very engaging person who communicates every step of the procedure in the clearest terms. He tells you what is necessary and feasible and never tries to push avoidably expensive solutions. But most of all, he exudes supreme competence during the whole process. As a matter of fact, in my long life - 71 years - I have rarely come across anyone in any profession who was as dedicated, interested and skilled in his work. This applies equally to his assistant Lesley and the team at the front desk. All in all a great experience and 12 points out of 10. Three years have passed since I wrote the lines above. I have been back at Merivale many times and my positive view of the practice has only been confirmed. But I can now add a further comment: During the past two years my teeth have been cleaned by Shiva Sigdel, the best dental hygienist I have yet come across. Shiva is thorough, but gentle, informative, but not overbearing. As a matter of fact - and I know this may sound strange to people for whom any dental intervention is stressful - I find Shiva's approach positively relaxing. My teeth were neglected in the first part of my life and present a challenge to any dentist. But I am convinced that with the superb care provided by Kulvinder and Shiva I might be able to die with them.

Fantastic experience: Zain extracted a molar (rear, lower, right hand side) on 29th May & I thought a posting three weeks after the extraction might be of more value than a day or two afterwards. Zain is a consummate professional. He explained in detail what would happen during the extraction process and gently talked me through the process as it happened. Zain explained how the healing process would work & I was given a handout with details of how I could the maximise the healing process. He also explained that eventually I not be aware that I’d ever had a tooth there. It’s just over three & a half weeks since the extraction & I’ve almost forgotten it! I could not recommend Zain highly enough

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient at Merivale for several years now, and I can honestly say that this practice has completely changed how I feel about dental care. Having suffered from severe anxiety due to negative experiences with previous dentists, I came here feeling hopeless and nervous. From the very beginning, the entire team made me feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. My dental health has transformed under their care and the biggest breakthrough for me was finally getting a retainer that not only straightened my teeth but also improved my bite significantly. I had a twisted canine and crowding, and for over 20 years, every orthodontist I saw told me it was either impossible to fix or recommended extractions - something I wasn’t comfortable with. But from the first consultation Prof. Ama Johal immediately knew what needed to be done. With calm confidence and clear expertise, he reassured me that it was entirely possible to correct everything without removing any teeth and with a minimally invasive solution and all that’s needed is a bit of patience. And he was absolutely right. Today, I smile with confidence - a thought I had given up on years ago. I can’t thank Prof. Johal and the team at Merivale enough. Their kindness, skill, and dedication are nothing short of exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone and especially to those who have felt let down or dismissed in the past or are simply looking for the best dental care available.

Fantastic experience: Honestly one of the best dental experiences I’ve had. I’m always nervous when i go to the dentist but i was immediately put at ease with Dr Zain Rivzi. He was very very kind and made sure i was really comfortable with everything the whole time. I wasn’t there for anything major but he made sure to do all the necessary checks and talked me through it all in depth. He also made sure of any questions i may have big or small which was really nice.

Fantastic experience: I came to the practice for help to fix a gap left by a retained baby tooth. It had been bridged horribly in the past and I’d had 4 different dental consults offering 4 conflicting opinions on treatments - all very invasive / non-conservative options. Ama was the first professional I met who really listened to my concerns. He came up with a careful plan to gently close the space and help me maintain a natural smile and healthy bite. I was always treated with respect, courtesy and kindness and kept well informed of next steps to manage my expectations throughout my treatment. The orthodontics themselves were painless and unobtrusive, so much so that my adult daughter also chose Ama to address her orthodontic concerns. I now have a very natural smile (no bridge!) and am so delighted with the result. Everyone says my teeth look great! I can’t thank you enough Ama! Thanks too to all the team at Merivale. Fantastic experience: I went to see Zain due to a ‘hole’ in my gum, which I aligned with a check up. He clearly communicated what had been going on with my gum (the severing of a thin layer over my wisdom tooth, maybe from stress or sleep deprivation of new parenthood). He reassured me it was not a problem and how I could best care for it. He gave recommendations about eg what toothpastes to choose, and gave options about paying for some preventative procedures on my teeth. Overall he was very professional and supportive. I will be going back next year for a checkup, and trust he will keep me updated on important developments and how to address them.

I recently had a routine dental visit with Sally. She is very friendly and approachable dentist. Her examinations are very thorough and not just with your teeth and gums but also she checks your neck and tongue. My appointment did not feel rushed and you have time to share your concerns. They even had enough time to take an unplanned x-ray and then discuss the results with me. Her care along with Florentina the excellent Dental hygienist have helped me with their gentle encouragement to improve my teeth cleaning regime at home. I want to stress that this crown/tooth had been fitted before I had the good fortune to discover Merivale Dental Practice. I have never had any issues following any dental work done at Merivale Dental Practice. Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Dr Zain Rizvi for my recent cosmetic dentistry treatment. With my daughter’s wedding approaching, l was becoming increasingly self conscious of old chips and discolouration on my front teeth. Following a consultation with Zain, l decided to have composite bonding applied. I was very fortunate in that Zain was able to proceed with the bonding a couple of days before the wedding; juggling appointments to ensure this happened. Throughout my treatment, Zain explained what he was doing and he was very gentle and reassuring throughout, as was Tam his dental assistant. Thank you Zain for improving my smile.

Fantastic experience: Always find the staff at reception very friendly and helpful. And also the treatment I receive from the professionals is always very good. I particularly like the approach of the hygienist Florentina who seems to have done a great job at getting my gum disease under control.

Negative experience: Extremely expensive. They do not care about you. They will care about money and charge only. Go if you arw millioner. But expecr to oay at least 400 500 £ for only viewing

Fantastic experience: I underwent teeth alignment at Merivale with Dr Ama Johal. I would highly recommend Merivale practice and Dr Ama for the general quality, patience in working through, expertise and very welcoming friendly demeanour. Would absolutely recommend.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed! I called the practice to book a dentist appointment for my boyfriend and I was asked to pay £60 to secure the consultation which I did over the phone. We went on the day of the appointment and when we finished the consultation, I was asked to pay an additional £60 for the same appointment I had already paid for. I did ask an explanation to the receptionist informing that I wasn’t made aware of this £60 extra to pay we I called, and the only thing she kept saying was “this is the price for the consultation”! On top of this, during the visit the doctor (really professional I must say) informed my partner he needed to do an X-ray and than he could provide a name of another practice providing the cheapest X-Ray in london with £57 however when the practice contacted me and I asked for the price it was £60! Be careful about clarity and reliability with these people!

Fantastic experience: Been a patient here for over 30 years... Matthew keeps such a great eye on the whole family's teeth that we have barely ever needed more than his comprehensive check ups and clean (childhood accidents aside). We have moved out of the area, but still travel back here. My daughter had braces with Ama and her experience was so good that I have now also had them. He takes great care to talk you through the process and made it comfortable and pain-free. We both love our straight teeth.

Fantastic experience: Dr Kulvir answered all my questions regarding pain I experienced with a previous root canal and figuring out what could be the cause. He recommended a 3D x ray which found the cause of the problem that previous dentists weren't able to figure out. I appreciated the help.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Prof Ama Johal for consultation as my front teeth were moving and at age 49, I was keen to address the issue before it got any worse. Ama devised a clear treatment plan for fixed braces on upper and lower teeth and talked me through the entire process. Knowing that I would be 50 and wearing a brace, any fears I may have had, were soon gone by his lovely kind and gentle manner and lighthearted humour. A year down the line I am still in treatment, but the braces are off and the results are absolutely incredible. Dr. Kulvinder Sokhal conducted a thorough examination, explaining everything in clear and simple language. Dr. Sokhal and his dental nurse Lesley were extremely professional, and at the same time, very helpful and friendly. Fantastic experience: Our first time visiting Merivale Dental practice yesterday and it was brilliant. Thank you to Dr Zain for making my mum feel so comfortable during her appointment. She's usually quite nervous going to the dentist and Dr Zains kind and patient manner helped keep her relax. Also many thanks to the wonderful receptionist team who were so helpful when I needed somewhere to change and feed my baby. We have found our new dental practice now :)

Fantastic experience: Our whole family has been been treated at this dental practice for the last 30+ years. The care given to both us and our children has always been excellent. I have had fillings, an extraction, crowns and a dental implant all trouble free and to a high standard. I have recently been treated by the hygienist and got helpful advice and was very pleased with the result. The practice regularly invests in the latest training and technology. Advice on treatment is clear and practical. You do not feel pushed to engage in treatments, the pros and cons are properly explained and space given for decision making. Great care is taken to ensure that during treatment the patient feels in control, is calm and comfortable and understands what is going on. All practice members that I have met have been helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend this practice (and have often done so ) to anyone in need of treatment or advice.

Fantastic experience: A session with the Hygienist followed by a dental check up. I currently have a back problem & in both cases cushions were promptly provided to support lower back & neck & particular care exercised in lowering the dental chair to ensure a comfortable position for me albeit somewhat higher than normal for the staff. Scale & polish completed without even tickling the gums. At the check-up l discussed a particular dental concern l had against a background of other medical vulnerabilities & treatments which were carefully noted. This was investigated very professionally including X-rays (& very patiently even though it extended the duration of my booked session) and a course of further investigation & action was identified & clearly explained, including a proposed referral to a dental hospital. By the time l got home nearby, the referral was confirmed. Calm effective & efficient service with a smile. Greatly appreciated.

Fantastic experience: I've been to Merivale quite a lot over the last year and a half. Everything from hygienist to dentures to implants and it's been a great experience. From the reception and booking staff who are always really helpful to Shiva, my hygienist, who has always done a fantastic job, been really friendly and given good advice. And also Kulvinder whose expertise helped me so much through a lot of dental work and made me feel much better during the procedures. He gave me great advice and really made me more comfortable with all the work I needed to get done. I'd highly recommend Merivale. The best place by far that I've been to.

A recent wisdom tooth extraction was a typical example of the level of care offered by all the staff at the practice. My dentist, Kulvinder, gave me plenty of time and information to reach a decision and made the procedure as painless and positive as possible - his obvious knowledge and expertise is very reassuring and the follow-up call from the reception staff was very much appreciated. Fantastic experience: The Merivale Dentist visit 3rd July 2023 to recement a crown provide to be reassuring and the recementing of the crown was successful. Thanks to Kulvinder and the team the whole process went smoothly. Communication was excellent. Fantastic experience: Really good hygiene measures in place; I felt completely safe and looked after. I has a phobia of going to the dentist for years but have stuck with Merivale even though I've moved a little further away because they really go the extra mile to make sure patients are safe and comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I attended Merivale Dental clinic to have orthodontic braces fitted. I was under the care of Prof Ama Johal and was very happy with the treatment received. Prof Johal is extremely knowledgable on latest research and very experienced. He always explains everything he is doing and the rationale for it. He is very kind, patient and warm, which helps put one at ease. The staff at the clinic are all very professional and efficient and I would have no hesitation in recommending it

Fantastic experience: I had a clear brace fitted top and bottom for a period of 18 months,under the care of Prof Ama Johal. He truly is excellent in his profession ,friendly and very gentle during adjustments of the brace. I would highly recommend him to friends and family. The whole team at Merivale are very professional and always check in to remind you of your appointments via email or telephone. I'm delighted with the results of my treatment.

Fantastic experience: I always feel welcomed at this practice, the receptionists are friendly and helpful. My dentist Haj always asks after my older kids, so, as I have written before, there is a sense that you are known as a person as well as a client in the chair. I feel in safe hands!

The reception staff always offer great service (most times I've been able to get emergency appointments within a day, if not same day) and the dental staff are all very friendly too. Located conveniently close to Greenwich Station. Would highly recommend.
