Fantastic experience: I broke my tooth and the sharp edges were rubbing on my tongue. I was worried that I would not be able to get an appointment at short notice but was able to book for the next day. The dentist was able to sort out a new filling and file the rough edges so I no longer have any discomfort and will be able to enjoy Christmas. I am very grateful for such good service especially as my friends tell me they don’t get this level of care as private patients with their dentist One of my fillings came out and the dentist was able to replace it 3 days later. I was very pleased as I didn’t have to wait long

Negative experience: Very, very poor, felt like I was just an annoyance or animal, snapped my tooth and had issues with extraction (which is fair) but left with root still in, excruciating pain and no info, explanation or what happens next, no customer service, was just told that’s it and I could go, wish I’d just kept the tooth ache, rather than this.

Fantastic experience: I arrived 5minutes early no one else in the waiting room went straight in, had my check up all good, dentist & her assistant both lovely, reception staff also lovely. I do agree there is a need to have more dentists, also a shame not being able to book your next 6 months check up. I think it's a shame having a lovely building with all the facilities, not being used to it's full potential.

Negative experience: Reception staff were friendly and professional. Found the treatment very painful. I had to ask them to stop . I was once again reminded that I would greatly benefit from a visit to the Dorchester dental clinic concerning my gum disease. And once again stated I couldn’t afford the exorbitant fees . The alternative is tooth loss . So I came away feeling miserable and anxious.

Fantastic experience: I like many are terrified of the dentist due to trauma in my childhood with butcher dentists. Today I had an emergency appointment as tooth very painful. My dentist worked through her lunch break as it took over an hour for treatment due to me being scared and in a lot of pain. Herself and the nurse were extremely patient with me throughout and couldn’t thank them enough.

Negative experience: Appointment for a check up at 1030. Not seen until 1110. No one updated us as to why there was a delay. Check up was less than 2 minutes, very perfunctory.

Positive experience: It's brilliant to have an NHS dentist. On the day speed seemed to be the essence. The check lasted a few minutes only. No work is necessary so I paid and left. Not much else to say.

Positive experience: I’ve always found the reception here very cordial, helpful and friendly. The Dentists are very professional and not averse to a bit of friendly and funny banter. My treatments are handled pretty much free from pain and anxiety. My only comment would be to get the consulting rooms better sound deadened as I have hearing/tinnitus issues that don’t cope well with echoey rooms! On my last visit, I was questioned about what meds I am on. Considering I had completed all the required forms prior to my appointment which covers things like current meds, it shouldn’t be necessary for the Dentist to ask these questions again.

Negative experience: I paid almost £30 for an emergency appointment, they did close to no work on me aside from refer me. I had an emergency appointment a few years ago and they did loads of work, so I don't understand why I couldn't be treated this time. I still cannot eat properly and left the appointment in tears. I am being treated as if it is my fault that there is no NHS dentists taking on new patients.

Fantastic experience: Whilst not my favourite past-time, my 45 minute appointment this week was efficiently and painlessly handled by the dentist and the dental nurse in attendance really did everything possible to explain procedures and make encouraging comments about the remaining time!

Positive experience: I had to reschedule my August 24 appointment and the first available one was February 25. This was then cancelled by the surgery and rescheduled to April. Had to wait 28 minutes past the appointment time, which is difficult when you need to get back to work. Very disappointing that we are now unable to book the next appointment for 6 months time for adults, apparently due to a back log. Perhaps if we had a full-time dentist rather than a part time one (who also seems to be on holiday for 3 weeks at a time), or one that can only work 20 hours a week, then perhaps there would not be an issue. Think the NHS need to be addressing this, rather than forcing people to have to pay privately when a lot cannot manage this.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding Dental Care and Heartfelt Gratitude I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the dental clinic in Sherborne and to the wonderful dentist who provided me with urgent and compassionate care during a very difficult time. A few days ago, while eating fish, one of my teeth broke in half and a small bone got stuck inside. The pain was excruciating — my gums were bleeding, I couldn’t bite on the left side at all, and even touching the tooth with my tongue caused severe discomfort. As I am originally from Ukraine and currently living in the UK, I called NHS 111 for help. It was a Sunday, and dental care in the UK, especially on weekends, is very difficult to access. However, the staff gave me detailed advice on how to manage the pain at home until I could see a dentist — including taking painkillers, rinsing with salt water, and using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Two days later, I was given an emergency appointment in Sherborne. I told them I didn’t need an NHS-provided interpreter because I could bring a friend to help me with translation — I just wanted to get help as soon as possible. My friend drove me there and assisted me. I also wrote down everything in English ahead of time so the dentist could understand my situation clearly. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist was incredibly kind and efficient. She processed my paperwork quickly and showed understanding of my urgent situation. Shortly after, I was seen by a young female dentist — truly a professional with golden hands. She immediately identified the problem, carefully drilled the tooth, removed the foreign object causing the intense pain, and filled it. She also ensured I was properly numbed so I wouldn’t feel the procedure, which was a huge relief given the level of pain I had endured for two days. For me, this wasn’t just a broken tooth — I had recently had surgery on the right side of my mouth and couldn’t chew there either. So when the left side broke, I was completely unable to eat, and even my friend noticed I had lost weight from not eating. I was in extreme discomfort and stress. But thanks to this dentist’s fast, skilled, and empathetic approach, I finally found relief. Unfortunately, I was told that the clinic was full and unable to register new patients, but I truly wish I could become a permanent patient of this incredible dentist. Her professionalism, kindness, and speed turned a horrible situation into something bearable. I am sincerely thankful to her, to the Sherborne clinic staff, and to the NHS for arranging this appointment. If I ever return to Sherborne, I would love to visit and bring a small gift as a token of my appreciation. Fantastic experience: Went into the dentist this afternoon as an urgent appointment through 111 The dentist was lovely & managed to pull out three broken off & very painful teeth out for me which was painless & she done it very quickly! Only had to wait 15-20 minutes to be seen.

Fantastic experience: Been to this dentist a few times for emergency appointments, and the staff have been very helpful and willing to provide a service in such sort time. The staff are attentive to needs and help and support with any dental issues. The dentist himself from my most recent visit was brilliant, explaining all that was happening what to suggest to further help my situation and ensured that health checks were made prior to prescribing medications and explaining what each does and the side effects. The receptionist staff are so helpful in arranging appointments as best as they can to fit me in, and are so understanding and kind when arriving to clinic. The nursing staff are very reassuring especially when i struggle sometimes in the dentist. Would definitely recommend this as a dentist to attend and very happy with the care that they provide. Negative experience: Whilst I have no issues with the treatment itself and the dentist is lovely, I have struggled with the unreliability of this practice for the last year or two. During two of our most recent appointments (one for me, one for the children), we have been left waiting for approximately half an hour and this was not due to other appointments running over as we had the first slots of the day/afternoon. I have also had several appointments rescheduled, yes I too have had to reschedule some but never on the morning of, with such little notice. I appreciate that things can happen beyond our control but lately, it seems like a common occurrence.

Fantastic experience: Quick checkup - very easy - thank you. Only thing I don't like is the slope down from the carpark - could do with a handrail for the old, unsteady and lame - please refer this to safely people!

Fantastic experience: Greeted by reception staff in a friendly and efficient manner. I had already completed the usual forms online which were emailed a week or so before, so there was no documentation to complete on the day. The dentist and the dental assistant were pleasant for both the check up and hygiene appointment. I feel that the work done was to a decent standard. The charges were the standard NHS charges so not too expensive for these appointments. Overall a good quality service from a great dental practice.

Positive experience: Had an emergency appointment via 111, had to wait in waiting area for 40 minutes (couldn't moan as it was a last minute booking) the dentist called me through, looked at my teeth for about 30 seconds, took an xray and prescribed me with antibiotics. Recommended a private dentist if I want my teeth fixed, which is laughable as there seems to be a shortage on dentist these days, but overall experience was lovely and now I have to wait 2 weeks for dorchester to phone me back to have bottom tooth removed.

Negative experience: I was extremely disappointed by the attitude of one receptionist I spoke with over the phone recently. I felt belittled and dismissed, as if I were worthless. I will never contact this dentist again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Note to the person I spoke with: Please work on your communication skills and show some respect to people!

Fantastic experience: I have been with Sherborne Dental Centre for many years now, and have always found the staff helpful and efficient. Even now when NHS dentists are in short supply, we have an excellent dentist and a great team. So in Sherborne we are very lucky.

Positive experience: Mark the hygienist is excellent. I had a mouth problem causing me a lot of pain. The pain seemed to relate to the gums rather than the teeth. I visited the dentist who poked and prodded all the teeth and checked the bite and checked for pain with a cold material. None of the teeth caused pain, it was general pain which I believed related to gums. As I was in constant pain which was keeping me awake the dentist prescribed anti biotic. The mouth improved some but was still uncomfortable. One week later I visited Mark. Within seconds he identified the problem. There was an area of gum which had trapped food. He cleaned out the debris and it immediately felt more comfortable and has remained so. He showed me how to clean that area which was not helped by normal brushing. Thank you Mark I will miss you.

Positive experience: Although the dentist was nice and the injection meant I didn't feel pain from drilling. It did hurt a lot my lips were dry and stuck to my teeth. It stung my mouth/lips when she tried to get to the back of my mouth. Also I felt I needed to swallow and could feel I needed to cough. I seem to be left with a sore throat! I must say the dental nurse was extremely kind and kept reassuring me!

Positive experience: Pleasant enough front of house staff but a dentist who was obviously struggling to keep up with the appointments made on her behalf. Over 50 minutes late going in and no attempt to update me on progress until I presented myself at reception.

Negative experience: Very heavy handed when using the drill. Came out with a headache and feeling sick.Does not consider the fact that hard and prolonged drilling is vibrating in your head. Seems polite but very rough. Never had this before with any dentist in the past.
