Negative experience: Hello, I came this morning for my daughter’s appointment. While scheduling a second appointment for her treatment, I was confronted with completely unacceptable behavior from your receptionist. My daughter was translating into French what the receptionist was saying. And what does she do? She tells my daughter: “Don’t get involved”, “It’s none of your business.” Unbelievable. My daughter was directly concerned. The appointment is for her. Even if it weren’t, she has every right to speak and help her mother. Period. I find this behavior rude, intolerant, and shocking. Anyone working with the public should know how to respect differences and listen to children. Clearly, that is not the case here. Telling a child to be quiet while she is helping her mother is utterly disrespectful. I request that you urgently remind your staff of the basics of respect, politeness, and inclusion. Such behavior is unworthy of a practice serving the public. Sincerely.

Fantastic experience: A great experience with all the staff at a great surgery. Easy to deal with and very prompt and professional. Fantastic experience: I phoned up this as my dentures had snapped in a fall all other dentists are either not taking patients or refusing when I phoned I explained my situation to sindy and she got me in the same morning I cannot thank them enough the receptionist were kind and polite and very understanding unlike most places they are having my dentures repaired and will be having moulds done for a new set they have put a smile on my face I wouldn't recommend anywhere else other than the maypole dental surgery it was also clean and you can tell they take pride in what they do Following on from this review I have been welcomed everytime I have come here from start of my treatment to the end to get my new dentures the receptionists are all lovely especially Cindy who has greeted me with a smile everytime I have gone in and always asks how I am she has been brilliant with me from the very first phone call the dentist has been amazing aswell I cannot thank them enough

Fantastic experience: I live in wales, l needed a bad tooth out, urgent, and false tooth put on my plate, as l come from birmingham, l phoned maypole Denist got a quick appointment, great service, lovely staff l thank them all, l then went straight to the dental laboratory got a new tooth, all in a couple of hours , fantastic all round service.

Negative experience: Dreadful awful customer service. Shout about your private business on the front desk. The one lady is so so rude and how any of them got employed in a receptionist roll is beyond me. Definitely going to be looking at moving practices soon as this one is terrible and the way they treat their "valued patients" is just awful.

Negative experience: I cannot fault the dentist themselves but they need to look at their receptionist and the way they treat and speak to the patients. The receptionist Cindy really needs to be spoke to about the way she treats and speak to patients I am not the only Person who has been in the situation where she discusses your business in front of other people and speaks with such an attitude to patients telling them to go away even though 101 have said to seek medical help.

Negative experience: If you enjoy being shamed, berated and judged by a Karen (Cindy the receptionist) then sign yourself up. I was pre warned by 3 other patients to be aware of her and my goodness did she live up to the horrible expectation. Just no need, we are all people trying our best. She needs to learn some empathy and social skills. Just a bitter, mean person w an axe to grind. I hope she gets the help she needs in order to treat patients with respect.

Fantastic experience: I had a terrible fall in the garden and crashed down onto a terracotta pot knocking out 3 teeth and bending a crown into my bottom lip, Tuesday morning Cindy took charge of everything, she was extremely caring,l saw a dentist straight away,Wednesday morning Mr Dillon took charge, he also called me back Wednesday afternoon, by Friday l had a temporary bridge, amazing care and wonderful treatment.

Fantastic experience: Sorry not sure if I spelling her name correctly but Cindy was absolutely amazing. I rang for an appointment for my little girl who has been in so much pain with her tooth, she is 6 and Cindy got me in the next day. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Negative experience: I was looking for a nearby dental surgery, and i found Maypole Dental Surgery. I sometimes i like to read reviews to have an idea. when I read reviews on Maypole dental, the majority reviews were about receptionist Cindy being rude and unprofessional, but I said to myself, what is this receptionist doing to people that they give such reviews! Then I went to register, which was OK, and i was offered an appointment in the same week to see the dentist, which was great. My first appointment I was seen by a lovely lady dentist who checked my teeth and gave advice and because of my condition and the medication am on, the dentist made an individualised care plan for my oral hygiene which we both agreed on. When I finished with the dentist then I went back to the receptionist as instructed by the dentist to book my first hygienist appointment. In reception, there were 2 ladies, one of them being Cindy, the receptionist, I told Cindy what the dentist had told me but kept saying the dentist hadn't said anything to her. She was literally shouting in my face, and if you have ever been to this dental practice, you will know that there's no privacy in the reception waiting area. So Cindy keept talking and asking questions but the other lady sitting next to her kept asking Cindy "have you checked your screen, there's a message the dentist sent you about this patient care plan" then Cindy looked and she shouted "no this is not fair, She can't do this! Meaning the dentist. She shouted again, " This is not fair." Then she was asking me to pay a fee that was not agreed with the dentist at all. Cindy overruled the dentist care plan and refused to book me an appointment. I felt very disappointed and embarrassed especially being shouted at in reception with other patients who were waiting to be seen but I was also very confused of the decision that Cindy made to overrule the dentist individualised care plan with no explanation. I didn't even understand what she meant by unfairness, and I left feeling absolutely disturbed and confused. I will never go back to Maypole Dental surgery, and I certainly won't recommend it to anyone. I chose to ignore the reviews and just go, but hell, I wish I never did. Shame because the dentist was brilliant and professional. Cindy, from a receptionist to another receptionist, you are very unprofessional, and the voice tone you used in my situation was very disturbing. I hope you read these reviews and reflect on each and every review about yourself

Negative experience: I had a deeply disappointing experience at Maypole Dental Surgery, primarily due to the conduct of the receptionist. She was unprofessional and rude. I was pressured to make an advance payment for a future treatment—something I had never been asked to do before. When I questioned this and refused to pay, she made it clear that I might not be able to get future appointments. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially in a healthcare setting where patients should feel respected and cared for. I’ve since noticed several other reviews that echo my experience , particularly regarding the receptionist’s attitude and conduct. It’s concerning that these issues seem to be recurring and yet remain unaddressed. A dental practice is only as good as the people who represent it at the front desk, and unfortunately, this has seriously damaged my trust in the clinic. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works toward creating a more respectful and professional environment for all patients.

Negative experience: As a past dental nurse, this dentist is appalling. Disgusting customer service and not to mention she one overed my tooth for 2 MINUTES AND LET ME GOunder a month ago and didnt even see the HAIRLINE CRACK IN MY TOOTH that i saw from using dental tools at home after five minutes. Lazy and atrocious behaviour from someone who should have plenty of experience. Oh and also tell your receptionist to drop the filthy attitude because its not a warm and welcoming environment and makes all customers uneasy. You cant fix teeth and you cant even spot a crack in my tooth after years of experience. Get back into dental school NOW. I am really honestly disappointed.

Negative experience: We initially visited this dental practice because my partner had a serious dental issue. At his first appointment, instead of providing a proper assessment or exploring options, they immediately dismissed it as too expensive to treat in the UK and advised us to go abroad. No real discussion, no referral—just an easy way for them to wash their hands of responsibility. Trusting their advice, we spent a considerable amount of money on flights, accommodation, and transport to a dental clinic in Albania. Once there, we paid £160 for a 3D X-ray, only to be told the procedure was too complex and required a different specialist. We tried to sort it out while we were there, but the second dentist informed us my partner actually needed hospital treatment. Frustrated and out of pocket, we returned to this practice, expecting them to finally take responsibility and provide a proper referral. Instead, they refused, insisted on doing their own low-quality X-ray (which we would have to pay extra for), and continued giving us the runaround. If they had just done their job properly from the start, we wouldn’t have wasted all that time and money. To make matters even worse, they later claimed to have referred my partner to a hospital. That was four months ago, and we’ve received nothing—no appointment, no updates, absolutely nothing. When we asked for a referral number or even just the name of the hospital, they refused, saying they “couldn’t give us that information.” Meanwhile, I’ve had my own hospital referrals for far less urgent issues, and they’ve come through much faster. It’s clear they either never referred him or simply don’t care.

Fantastic experience: After a weekend of pain with a newborn. I booked a private appointment as there were not many surgeries taking nhs I called maypole dental surgery and sindy was the reassurance I needed she advised me to come to the surgery straight away and offered me a same day appointment at 11.30 acknowledging that I had a new born baby and was in pain. When there I was seen to straight away and booked in for a molar removal. Sindy also signed new baby up so that we were registered and assured that my baby would have a dentist appointment at earliest time required.

Positive experience: I had been with my previous dentist for around 20 years when were great. However I had a bad accident and caused quite bad damage to my teeth a few years ago. When I went to my dentist at that time I found they had sold out to new owners and that they were only interested in cosmetics and how much money they could extract from me rather than providing dental treatment. I had lost all confidence in them and didn't go back expecting to hobble a long until I found a decent dentist. Then one of my teeth broke further and was causing me pain so I had to seek treatment. My friend recommended maypole dentist as they were a patient.i rang the dentist and explained my situation. The receptionist was really helpful and kind. They couldn't get me in that day but took my details as they do get cancellations. Half an hour later they rang me back and booked me in for a cancellation the next day. I was seen x-rayed and my treatment clearly explained to me. I was booked in for extraction and fillings promptly and returned again to have my treatment clearly explained to me and every step of the process. I am so glad I was recommended to this practice. I found them courteous, professional, considerate,and am glad that I have found people I can trust. Obviously it's early days for me having a first treatment hence the 4 stars. If I continue to receive the same treatment then they will absolutely be 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Dentist!!! I recently had trauma to my teeth and my previous dentist had lapsed my registration for non attendance. I spoke to Cindy on reception and she was so helpful. She asked me a few questions about my previous dentist and got me registered and booked in for that same week. The following week I had my first composite filling ( I had lost big chunks of my 3 front teeth) . I was meant to have the rest done a week later. However they called me and asked me if I wanted to go back the same day as they had a cancellation and the dentist could tell I was eager to fix my teeth. I now have a normal set of teeth again!! The dentist that did the work on my teeth was so reassuring and talented, and Cindy and the girls at reception are so helpful. A good NHS dentist is hard to find and this one is brilliant and gave me my confidence back!!

Positive experience: Dental staff are excellent, the lady on the front desk however seems to think she can talk to people like they are below her, she was slightly rude to me, but for the 15 minutes I was sat out front I heard and seen her speak to several people As if they were being wiped off of her shoes, over the phone and to their faces, extremely rude and unprofessional, especially as she's one of the first people you see when you arrive at the practice.. not a good look

The receptionist asked me to take her to the surgery straight away, I did and the dentist treated her immediately. Great NHS service and staff. Would highly recommend and will be moving there myself in January.

Positive experience: I'm not a fan of going to the dentist, but the dental staff are amazing. They understand my phobia and comfort and guide me as soon as I sit in the chair. Always asking if I'm okay if I need a break. They're amazing with my boys too. However the receptionists I believe needs to have some training in customer service. All customers old, young, middle-age need to be treated the same spoken to the same and given the same welcome when they come to the desk, and shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. 3 times I had to tell the receptionist I'm not here to argue so please don't speak to me in this manor. I've now added your text number to my phone so I do get the texts and they don't go to spam.

Negative experience: I joined this dentist asking for their help but from the get go you could tell that they have no consideration or care for patients, to them you are just a number and ££ signs! I noticed they treat people on dss very differently to paying customers! I called up to rearrange my appointment as I was in hospital with abdominal pains and because I could not attend they refused to let me continue at the practice even tho I had a very good reason for not being there! also called in advance to reschedule but to them it was not good enough! I would ask everyone to not support a business that does not support the local community and treats people like they are robots with no feelings! it’s very sad that customer care is a thing of the past! Oh and the receptionist Cindy seems to get off on people’s misery and has 0 sympathy and is also very rude to talk to

Negative experience: Avoid this place if you can. The receptionist, Sindy, displays very unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. She was extremely rude, shouting, and accusing me of lying. Negative experience: I am utterly appalled by the disgraceful and unprofessional telephone manner of the receptionist, Sindy, this morning when I simply asked whether new patients were being accepted. Rather than offering a straightforward and courteous response, she chose to interrogate me about why I was seeking to register with a new dental surgery. I explained that my son has medical needs, is under the care of a hospital dentist, and has not been given an appointment by his current community practice despite receiving a letter from the hospital. Rather than showing any understanding, she arrogantly argued that I should be speaking with my current practice and went on to inform me, without any basis, that Maypole Dentist does not accept patients with "issues." This was completely inappropriate and discriminatory. As a parent of a child with medical needs, I have never encountered such a callous, dismissive attitude. The lack of empathy displayed by Sindy is nothing short of shocking. This experience has left me deeply upset and disgusted. I promptly contacted a neighbouring dental practice, where I was met with kindness and professionalism, and I will be registering my son there instead. Additionally, many others have left reviews expressing similar frustrations and complaints about Sindy’s rude and dismissive attitude. There have also been multiple allegations from others claiming that her behaviour has been racially charged, with some accusing her of being openly racist. It is clear that this is not an isolated incident, and the lack of professionalism and respect at this practice needs to be addressed immediately.

Fantastic experience: Have been coming to this surgery for over 20 years. I recently had to have root canal treatment on a back molar. Extremely impressed with the care and attention given by Mr Matthew Vazhappilly. The root canal treatment was completed in one appointment lasting 90 minutes. I returned last week to have a crown fitted and am extremely happy with the result. Thank you Matthew!

Negative experience: Today I had appointment with Mathew but receptionist changed it without any notice . She lied to me and was very rude. She kept on making excuses . Instead of apology she was rude. I confirmed twice a day ago for appointment with Mathew but she called me to surgery and send me to other room. This betrayed attitude of herself was also noted by herself. She said THIS IS A POINT.. she lied to patient after giving appointment, this is not correct.

Fantastic experience: As a very nervous new patient, I was impressed by how welcoming and friendly the receptionists were immediately putting me at ease. The entire staff was attentive, and the dentist was incredibly understanding, taking the time to explain everything clearly and making sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. Negative experience: Rang up to ask if they accept new patients. Straightaway the lady on the phone said "we do have to ask a few questions". The first question was "as an adult, why do you not have a dentist?" This question was not a good one to start with and it sounded critical. In fact, I was looking for a new dental surgery for my children who had difficulty booking appointments with current dentist. Even as if it was an adult trying to look for a dentist, it doesn't necessarily mean the adult doesn't have a dentist. As a receptionist, phone calls should be received with a more friendly manner.

Fantastic experience: *HIGHLY RECOMMEND* New patient here. Just been for a consultation after years of not going to a dentist due to extreme phobias. The staff were so understanding and helpful, not condescending or judging. They laid out what treatment I needed and gave me options where possible. They even helped me look after my 3 month old baby who had to come with me. Feeling much more relaxed and ready to start treatment. Thanks again

Negative experience: They charge me check up fee and all they say is that they donot do any dental treatment in the practice because there no proper dental dector in the practice but they can book you dector from out side for 1 teeth canel treatment from £700 to £900 what a scum people west of time and money I adive to avoid this not proper practice.

Negative experience: Please avoid this place as much as you can, receptionist Sindy extremely inhuman, she shouts and scream. Keep saying I was lying. Extremely rude behaviour she should not be dealing with customers. If you want to degrade yourself then join the surgery.

Fantastic experience: New patient. Phoned on Mon 21 May after phoning 3 others, and got an appointment the next day. The dentist assessed me, refitted a crown that had dropped out,and my treatment starts on Friday. Excellent service from reception to dentist.

Fantastic experience: I had a bad tooth and the previous private’s dentist asked me for an insane amount of money… I went here and Sindy Kindly offered me a free treatment. Fantastic experience: I was with another dentist which was charging me £70 to re-register with them as a new private patient. I phoned Maypole Dentist if they were accepting NHS patients and they asked me if i have any problems with my teeth which I did. They booked me in straightaway. The receptionist is very straightforward as its a very busy practice, however she explained everything clearly. Gurpeet has been an amazing dentist and explained all the procedures with me and she was honest with the possible outcomes. So far, my experience has been good and i got seen immediately.

Negative experience: Tried to make an emergency appointment for my son who is on the spectrum. so it takes a lot to get him there in the first place. i explained this to receptionist who was rude from start to end from putting the phone down to making me keep calling back to be told no he can't be seen absolutely disgusted

Negative experience: Sadly Cindy with an S was very rude to me. insisting I was lying. Despite me assuring her I had in fact cancelled my last appointment. Proceeded to tell me the computer records it !! And could not be wrong. By virtue of needing an emergency appointment would indicate some level of politeness if compassion just not in your repertoire. Disappointing response from a healthcare provider.

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment - I explained my situation to the receptionist who was very understanding and compassionate and managed to get me an appointment very quickly. On arrival the receptionists were lovely, friendly and professional. The dentist and the dental nurse were professional very thorough and explained my treatment plan in detail to me. All costs were detailed. I felt relaxed and calm, I’m normally quite anxious at the dentist but not on this occasion

Fantastic experience: Was in need of a dentist managed to get an appointment quickly, very clean tidy practice with welcoming staff (Sindy & Zainub) who go up and beyond to make sure everything is fine. Especially my dentist Gurpreet and her assistant Preethi who made my appointment totally stress free.
