Negative experience: Dentist didn't refer me to a hospital after the first appointment even though he said he would and at the second appointment didn't refer me to another private practice even though he said he would. Reception also said that they weren't able to include the dentist's name on the invoice.

Negative experience: Disappointing. Hygienist was 20mins late for my appointment, tried to up-sell a service as soon as I sat down, then did a 13 minute, light clean. £80, for 13 minutes, providing a substandard clean. A joke, honestly; they should be ashamed, especially in this delivery for private patients. Now, instead of having an appointment again in six months, I'll need one in three. There's no way I'll go back to this clinic.

Negative experience: Same as their other clinic same road : I’m Reporting to NHS. I live within 5 mins of this clinic. have been trying to register since before I got pregnant 14 months ago. I ask every few months and they have NEVER taken NHS patients so this is a LIE at this point. I have now passed the point of being able to use maternity exemption. Don’t register as NHS if you stopped taking any nhs patients for over 2 years. Receptionist confirmed over phone they haven’t registered new nhs patient in years.

Negative experience: I’ve been registered with this clinic for over 5 years and treatment has been hit or miss at best. Appointments are rushed and lack attention. I have not felt like the dentists listen to my concerns or properly advise me on treatments, I’ve left feeling as though the treatment I received was bordering on negligent. I do not trust the dentists here with my care.

Negative experience: Been a nhs patient here for over 15 years - always very happy with them until now. Called to make an appointment, for a check up and told I’ve been taken off the nhs list, I’d been seen in the last 3 years but not the last 2 - without letting me know they’ve taken me off the list, but will see my as a private patient, cost of check up and clean £180 ! Receptionsist just kept telling me ‘it’s nhs policy to remove patients who haven’t been seen within 2 years’ - when I asked why didn’t they send a reminder text like they used to I was told there were too many patients? But that never used to stop them sending reminder texts that a check up was due ?? just another example of stokey’s over gentrification - they clearly only want patients who can pay private costs…

Fantastic experience: Pain free after visiting this Dentist I was in agony over the weekend left a message on their answer phone I wasn't sure anyone will get back the Manager called me Monday morning offering me an appointment the very same day. The dentist explained why I am in pain, took X-rays and included me in making the decision over which treatment is being carried out. I can definitely recommend them very efficient.

Negative experience: NHS Constitution for England 1. The NHS provides a comprehensive service, available to all It is available to all irrespective of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity or marital or civil partnership status. The service is designed to improve, prevent, diagnose and treat both physical and mental health problems with equal regard. It has a duty to each and every individual that it serves and must respect their human rights. At the same time, it has a wider social duty to promote equality through the services it provides and to pay particular attention to groups or sections of society where improvements in health and life expectancy are not keeping pace with the rest of the population. The dentists are fine but don't expect any compassion from the Practice Manager and her enablers if you do fall into any of the above categories. Don't bother arguing just go to a better Practice.
Dear David,
As with all UK NHS dental services, there are attendance policies in place. If you miss your dental appointments or if you do not book an NHS dental appointment at your dentist for over two years, you may be de-registered from their NHS patient list. This means you will be required to re-register at the practice, and may in turn face waiting periods for NHS appointments - and this is the case at all NHS dental practices across England.
We are sorry to hear that you feel you have had a negative experience, however we unfortunately cannot hold patients on our NHS patient list if they fail to attend appointments without reasonable notice, or fail to book appointments within the last two years.

Negative experience: This clinic is discriminatory in its treatment of NHS patients vs private ones. It tricked me into paying private fees (despite me being very clear I only wanted treatment on the NHS) and now refuses to give me an appointment even though I'm registered. Avoid.

Negative experience: This is the worst dental practice I have ever attended. I visited this practice several times before ultimately leaving. On both occasions I went to the dentist, he was rough while examining my teeth, using a sharp pointed instrument to deliberately stab my gums, making me feel as though I was being assaulted. During my last visit, the dentist insisted that I needed fillings in one of my molar teeth, which he had mentioned during my previous visit, but it didn't seem like a significant issue as I wasn't experiencing any pain. However, this time he claimed that two teeth needed fillings, one on each side of my mouth. I became suspicious because I had no issues with the tooth on the other side of my mouth. The dentist then offered to do both fillings for a discounted price of £150, claiming it was a special offer as it would usually cost more. I declined the offer and decided to seek care elsewhere, visiting another dental practice on Stoke Newington High Road. I informed the dentist there about my experience at stoke Newington Dental Clinic . After examining my teeth, he reassured me that they were all fine except for a small crack in one tooth that had been causing slight discomfort. He assured me that there was definitely no need for fillings in any of my teeth. He applied a gel-type substance over the cracked tooth, and since then, I have experienced no pain. I have lost trust in this dental practice, and I am aware another who had or worse, experiences than me.MY ADVICE IS IF YOUR TOLD YOU NEED A FILLING OR TEETH REMOVED GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER DENTAL CLINIC.
Negative experience: I went in for a check up assuming I was registered as a NHS patient and got a filling. At no point during or before the procedures when I was advised to get a filling was cost mentioned or did anyone confirm I was an NHS patient. When I was slapped with a £455 bill at the end I said I was an NHS patient and that wasn't right. I was then told that if I had booked over the phone they would have confirmed whether I was private or not but since I booked over email this was not done. There is no way I should have been able to receive fillings without anyone checking my status when a practice offers both private and nhs services. I didn't want the police called on me for not paying so I paid but I feel that other people should be warned to double check! Even the NHS website says that practices are supposed to check before carrying out the treatment plan. Please be warned.

Negative experience: Very disappointing service and very undermining to patients. If you cannot Afford private high fee service, you are rendered worthless. Sadly this is becoming an issue across all clinics. I was a regular patient and I learnt that I have been taken off the records and I can only return if I pay high registration fees on top of the service. If I cannot pay private fees , I cannot join.

Negative experience: I registered at this practice as an NHS patient about 15 years ago or thereabouts if memory serves me right. About 7 years ago, the dentist stopped doing a scale and polish during the annual or biannual check up and asked me to book with the private hygienist instead, even though Band 1 of NHS treatment includes a scale and polish. Tired of arguing, as I know this is now common practice everywhere, I complied, and because they had a couple of incredibly good hygienists (who are no longer there) I continued using the practice even when I moved away. Now I have a minor dental worry and I wanted to book a check up with the dentist, only to be told that I have been deregistered as an NHS patient because I have not had a check up with the dentist since 2016. But I have been attending the practice and spending my money there twice a year! Why didn't someone warn me that I could lose my NHS patient status? There were plenty of opportunities. I, and my partner, will not be visiting this surgery anymore. PS The receptionists have always been lovely and professional.
Negative experience: There was no effort made to verify my payment or exemption status and instead of receiving an invoice for a £25 check up i received a £100 penalty fine for non payment from the NHS . The office where totally non plussed and frankly could'nt have cared less .This is the second fine i received from using this practice , the first time was partly my ignorance of my exemption status and the reception once again not clarifiyng or outlining what exemption was . Fobbed off with " it's the patients responsibility " .Terms and conditions should be made as clear and direct, as their self promotion and dental cosmetic services are . After using this practice for over 15 years i think it's time for a change .

Negative experience: We are registered patients with this dentist for years I have tried to book my kids recently for check up and I was told to call in few months because they have no availability for nhs patients only for private they could book us straight away. Very bad experience. 0 STARS for discriminating nhs patients

Negative experience: I have given this practise so many chances, assuming that them running as late as they do is just a one off. It isn't. I see the dentist for my first appt on time. The hygienist I had to wait 20 minutes to see while she chatted away about holidays to her last patient AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED. OK, irritating but not a dealbreaker for me. The next appt I have, they call me and ask if I would come in earlier as the dentist needs to leave early now. I agree and leave work early to help out. I waited 90 minutes to be seen. When I asked reception why I received a call asking me to come early they blamed it on the dentist. When I saw the dentist I told her what had happened and she blamed the receptionist. I got a vm later that day apologising. My next appt I am sitting there and my dentist turns up 5 minutes after the appt time and hurriedly gets ready. So 10 to 15 minutes late or so. Again, I kind of take it as it comes. The next time I go there I ask if she's running late, I'm told yes, when I asked for a ball park time she refuses to go in and ask. I need a new crown. They quoted me 950. Being fed up with their disrespect for their patients time, I contact another dentist office and the crown is quoted as 100 quid cheaper. Honestly, this practise is overpriced, staffed by fed up looking receptionists who openly show their irritation when you ask basic questions, and can't seem to run even slightly on time. I will never go back here.

Negative experience: My confidence took a hit when my two front teeth had chipped and, having waited an eon for my appointment, I was relieved to finally sit in the chair knowing I would be able to smile freely again.. However, after the treatment, something felt odd: I wasn't handed a mirror to check the dentist's handy work. When I asked for a mirror, their reaction made me feel like I'd made an unusual request. The dentist's assistant proceeded to rummage through the cabinets looking for a mirror - as if it was something they never use. When I finally looked in the mirror, I understood their reluctance: I was horrified to see my two front teeth had been 'fixed' in a zig-zag fashion. You know what the dentist's reply was, when I said they were wonky and asked if they could be straightened? "Not on the NHS" Basically, I could have them straight if I paid privately but, on the NHS, they have to be crooked! If this is the level of decency, we're screwed.

Fantastic experience: Was a bit nervous coming here for the first time as reviews weren't all great but I've been so impressed with them. I'm very nervous of the dentist but Dr. Freya was really lovely, reassuring and understanding. The receptionists are lovely too! The private treatments are expensive but I was really pleased to get registered as an NHS patient (I thought that was near impossible these days!).

Fantastic experience: I’ve been visiting for approx 13 years now. Never had any issues. Initial dentist I had for years wasn’t the friendliest but always thorough and professional. New dentist this week was super friendly and helpful. Great with kids too. Receptionists professional and helpful. No complaints here!

Positive experience: Have recently seen Anke (Dentist) & Malina (Hygenist) (apologies if I have misspelled names ). Having previously had a couple of bad experiences with dentists over the years, I am extremely happy seeing both Anke and Malina. Anke has helped me with a few teeth (some historical problems) and just revived treatment and advice in an extremely professional way that not only made me feel less anxious about the experience and future work but at ease during the procedures also. Extremely informative and patient with me. Malina I saw for hygiene work and again, very friendly and welcoming, extremely good advice for future dental health and hygiene and just made the experience extremely easy and left feeling I had been treated by two individuals who wanted the best for my health. Thanks again and thankful to have found this practice.

Positive experience: Freya ( dentist) is an Earth Angel. My son is always very nervous going to the dentist, but when he sees Freya, he is always at ease. She has a very calm temperament and works extremely well with children. Thanks for all you do Freya!

Fantastic experience: AllI wanted was a check up. I was taken into the dentist room in time. I was treated as an understanding adult and everything was explained to me. Because things had been as they are for years and don’t trouble me, I was told I could leave them be. So other than a check up and X-rays, I had a rough patch on a back tooth smoothed so it no longer bothers me. I was very happy that my teeth were well attended to.

Negative experience: Not for a nervous patient. All the staff need a personality transplant. The dentist had a one monotone voice the nurse made no effort to smile or the receptionist. I left without treatment because they did not put me at ease at all A miserable bunch.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for about 12 years. Nothing much needed during that time until recently when my wisdom teeth needed removing. I couldn’t have been in safer hands. Extractions were quick and as smooth as could be. Dentist Chris, you’re the best! All of the hygienists I’ve seen have been awesome too

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with the dentist FREYA, who put me at ease and gave me a filling as the current one had come out. I have been to the hygenist MALEEHA a few times. Maleeha does a really good and I would recommend highly, in fact the reception staff are very helpful.
