Fantastic experience: I took my 10 year old son to see a dentist called Nowais. Dentist visits are personally never fun. But the staff were all so friendly and happy that from the onset it was very pleasant. Oscar was made to feel at ease. The dentist himself was so nice and made the experience for my son one that would not cause any distress. He identified the problem almost instantly. I went in having not been to the hygienist in 6 years (I know, shame) with inflamed gums, bad teeth cleaning habits and bleeding when I brushed. Ronece did a fantastic extraction, talked me through everything, gave me tips, and fundamentally taught me how to clean my teeth. I was offered a hygiene appointment within the day which I was free for. Sezen was amazing and very informative with what she was doing and pointed out the conditions of my teeth, she made me feel at ease. There was a nice touch that you could watch TV on the ceiling whilst in the dentist chair, however most of the time there is a light shining on your face for the dentist/hygienist to work with so i didn't watch much of it, I paid more attention to Sezen to be honest. Dawid on reception was equally amazing and courteous, made me feel welcome and taken care of. There were no hidden agendas or costs (costs of their services are also outlined on their website). The practice itself is modern and very clean which is reassuring. I look forward to my next visit and know I am in safe hands.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent hygiene experience at Directdental Clinic with hygienist Ronece yesterday. I arrived a few minutes before the appointed time and received a warm greeting from the team, especially Muna, at reception. The clinic was bright and comfortable, making it easy to settle in and prepare for the treatment. It was my first hygiene appointment in the UK, and it far exceeded my expectations. Ronece and her assistant/trainee were very patient in explaining how they would examine and treat me beforehand. After the treatment, Ronece went through every detail of my teeth condition in different parts of my mouth and suggested several ways to improve the situation. Fantastic experience: Update February 2025: another excellent experience with direct dental - such a comprehensive clean and Ronece was so kind, professsional and patient. My teeth are no so clean and she gave me outstanding advice about how to clear teeth and using the correct interdental brushes - can’t wait for my next appointment in three months time! August 2024: Excellent appointment with Dr Furat. I was a bit nervous as it had been over a year since I had last been but he was so kind , gentle and professional. Huda the dental assistant also did an exactly job, seamlessly having all the equipment to hand. I was very impressed that even though I booked a clean it included a check of my teeth and extra x-rays too. Love also a TV on the ceiling for distraction. Very thorough job and my teeth feeling very clean now. Thank you, I shall be back!

Fantastic experience: I could not recommend this dentist enough. From the minute you walk through the door, everyone is there to support you with anything you need. I was lucky enough to have Muna & Camelia at reception who were very knowledgeable about the procedures and pricing plans. They also made me feel very welcome in between treatments and made me feel respected as a person, instead of ‘just another patient’. I started with a check up by Nowais who is clearly very passionate about his specialty area in dentistry. He is excellent and was educating me on what to look out for on the dental scans and walked me through the recommended work for healthy gums & teeth. This was followed up with a visit to the hygienist, Sezen. She was so thorough with the clean and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I left with teeth fit for a princess without being bleached. The nurses (Saba & Mariam) were also very approachable and friendly though out my time there.

Negative experience: The practice is new, spacious and fitted out with lovely white furniture, giving an air of light & spaciousness. It is meticulously clean, & the receptionist is always very friendly and welcoming. The dentists are nice but they must learn to understand what the patient is telling them, rather than leading the consultation to suit their own needs and agenda. If a patient is telling a dentist that she / he is nervous or afraid, it is totally unacceptable for a dentist to dismissively respond with, ‘Don’t worry I’ll give you extra anaesthetic’ and then continue a rushed consultation in a direction dictated by the dentist’s, rather than the patient’s needs. I hope that the senior partner at ‘Direct Dental, Wandsworth’, Dr George Cheetham, will address these patient concerns with your dentists. Surely your dentists should understand that a visit to the dentist is anxiety provoking for the majority of the population. It only takes one insensitive & dismissive response from a dentist - especially in response to a patient’s expression of anxiety or fear - to subsequently make that patient phobic of visiting a dentist ever again, in their entire lifetime…with ensuing catastrophic harm to their dental health. Dr Cheetham, please explain to your dentists that if a patient clearly expresses anxiety or fear during a consultation, the General Dental Council [GDC] would expect nothing less than for your dentists to take the time & effort to discuss the patient’s anxiety… in a kind, caring, sympathetic, empathetic and reassuring manner. The GDC would expect a qualified dentist to go on and sensitively explore the underlying reasons for a patient’s anxiety, the severity of that anxiety…and to display a compassionate, caring and empathic bedside manner in order to help allay that patient’s anxiety…as long as it may take, so that the anxious / fearful patient does not become phobic of ever visiting a patient again…to the catastrophic detriment to their oral health. When undertaking invasive procedures with anxious patients, I would like to see your dentists talking to the patient throughout the procedure, stopping at regular intervals to check in on the patient’s anxiety levels and wellbeing, & giving the patient plenty of support, encouragement and reassurance... throughout that procedure. Even if that means the procedure will take much longer than expected. The General Dental Council [GDC] would expect no less. And Patients have a right to expect this as a minimum. That is why we pay exorbitant amounts of money when visiting your practice. Dismissively telling an anxious patient, ‘Don’t worry…I’ll give you more anaesthetic’ and then hurrying along with your own agenda during the consultation is unethical, unacceptable and something that the General Dental Council [GDC] would have major concerns about. Dr Cheetham - as the senior partner in the practice - please discuss with your dentists, this important issue of always focusing the consultation on the patient and their needs…especially with nervous, anxious and phobic patients…and not dismissively hi-jacking the consultation according to the dentist’s own agenda. I hope to see a major improvement in your dentists’ bedside manner and interpersonal skills, especially in the basic skills of managing, talking to and counselling an anxious / phobic patient with due respect, attention, time, care, empathy and responsibility.

Fantastic experience: I went for a teeth cleaning today with Dr Ameen and his assistant Huda. I hadn’t been in many years due to phobia but I’m glad I did go. They were very comforting and Dr Ameen talked me through the process first putting me at ease. I’m very glad with the outcome and how my teeth look now and will happily return in 3 months for another clean. Thank you
