Mark Tangri Dental Excellence

Negative experience: Paid £150 upfront for an initial consultation/assessment for an implant with Mark Tangri. On the day he wasn't available and was told an "associate" would conduct the appointment. Having driven 50 miles to see Mark I was extremely disappointed and put somewhat on the spot. Why was I not informed that Mark would not be able to see me? The first thing the associate did was to ask what he could "do for me today"? What did he mean by this? I had to explain why I wanted a dental implant!! Next thing...I was told I would have to have a £90 hygienist session before any further progress could be made. Amazingly, this could be attended to straight away! There was no consultation about anything relating to the proposed implant procedure. Finally, another patient (who had also travelled a similar distance) was also expecting to see Mark regarding a damaged dental implant. She was also unaware that Mark was unavailable. On the whole this was a bad experience and I feel somewhat cheated by the practice. Note: as I did not see the dentist that I'd paid to see (Mark) this review is not intended to imply a negative against him.

Negative experience: My gums are in a lot of pain after a routine cleaning today. A dentist (who I will not name) raced through my cleaning and I have really sensitive and receding gums. I'm surprised they're not bleeding. I will not be returning again.

Fantastic experience: Despite moving 60 miles away, 6 years later am still coming back to this dentist. Have sadly had to have quite a bit of work done, but with sedation, I turn up, have a chat with Mark, go to sleep, wake up remembering nothing and no pain or discomfort... Not bad when this is everything from extractions to implants! Don't get me wrong, I'm still terrified of dentists.. just not Mark, I trust him fully and he's never let me down. I can't recommend him or his team enough.

Fantastic experience: As someone who hates to even walk through the door of a dentist, this visit has been the best I have ever experienced. From beginning to end I was treated with care & respect especially due to my anxiety. I had conscious sedation and the most pain free experience ever.

Negative experience: I joined in 2023 as I had gum disease. I had an initial consultation with Mark, which was excellent. I joined denplan and started having deep cleans with the hygienist, which helped improve my gum disease. I asked for a smile makeover consultation and had this with a female dentist, the appointment wasn't very detailed and after having other consultations elsewhere, I realised it was just a conversation. I was only given prices for veneers despite specifically asking for invisalign prices too. After the conversation, I asked the dental nurse more questions about veneers and she told me they don't need any maintenance and last last forever as she has them. This is not true and she shouldn't be giving patients false information. I wasn't satisfied with my consultation because I had so many unanswered questions. I called reception a few weeks later to inform them of this and I was told I'd have to pay for a consultation. It was only then that I realised what I had was not a consultation. I refused as I'd had two free and detailed consultations with other dentists, but wanted to stick with my current dentist as I felt it would be easier. The receptionist offered me a free discussion with the same dental nurse , who she assured me could answer my questions. Again it was not a proper consultation but I thought id give it a go. Mark popped in during the discussion and I felt more reassured. I decided to apply for finance for invisalign. During the application process, the dental nurse asked if I had dependents, I said no. She said that was good and laughed. This was very insensitive and unprofessional. The dental nurse advised that I call her as soon as I got a response from the finance company. I called the same day to let her know the finance wasn't approved, and discuss other options if possible. She wasnt available and I was told she would call back, she never did. Im assuming she realised I was turned down so couldn't be bothered to call me back. I didn't get the chance to discuss other options so I decided not to pursue any further treatment here. Overall I found Mark to be good. The other dentist did not provide the information I requested and seemed to heavily push veneers without explaining all the cons. Hygienist did an ok job, but didn't have the best bedside manor. Ive overheard gossiping from reception/ nurse staff , which is unprofessional. There seems to be a lack of communication about the consultations/ prices for smile makeover. If there is a charge for a consultation (which is what I asked for) that should be made clear from the outset. It's only after having free and detailed consultations elsewhere I realised I had no such thing at this practice. The nurse I dealt with was unprofessional and should not be providing incorrect information or sharing her views on whether people have children or not. During my last visit I stood at reception for 10 minutes trying to book another scale and polish, while the same dental nurse was free to attend to me, but choose to ignore me. I started to feel a bad vibe from said dental nurse and overall unhappy about previous experiences at this practice. I won't spend my time and money where the service is poor.

Fantastic experience: I had a nasty fall at the weekend which snapped off about a third of a 23 year-old implant. Doctor Uzair Janjua treated my problem brilliantly- speed, efficiency and compassion personified. The receptionist and dental nurse were polite and pleasant, all combining to make the experience a far cry from my expectation of trauma!! Thank you all very much. Maggie Patel

Fantastic experience: Very grateful to this company. My smile was hideous, my front teeth especially were bent all my life. And my teeth just generally stuck out. The staff were SO friendly and kind, I can’t fault any of them. Super professional and caring. I was offered Invisalign, the people doing my scans were considerate, and the dentist was very caring and professional. Govinder was very professional he designed my teeth really well and I’ve worn the trays for about 8 months with regular visits for monitoring and WOW the difference it has made - my teeth are much straighter AND they don’t stick out anymore. I am waiting on my retainers now. I can’t thank them enough for making me love my smile for the first time in my life. I wish I had done this earlier. I would definately recommend them, it’s worth the money and the wait, I can now smile with confidence I don’t have to hide my teeth anymore.

Fantastic experience: Just want to say that you are all amazing !!! I was in a lot of pain with broken teeth and these lovely people got me a same day appointment. Uzar was amazing kind gentle and very understanding. He removed my 3 teeth totally painlessly. All the nursing staff and receptionist Martine were so considerate. Fantastic experience: Can't recommend this dental practice highly enough. From the welcoming, helpful reception staff through to the responsiveness and accessibility of dentists and hygienist. It almost feels like a pleasure visiting!!. I would like to give a particular shout out to Kinga, she has supported me over recent times and her advice and guidance coupled with her kindness and thoughtfulness has made a significant difference to my dental health. Fantastic experience: Mark Tangri dental practice was recommending to myself by my sister who had no personal experience with them, only on the back of the reviews she had seen. Allow me now to be amongst those who have had that personal experience. From Rebecca my initial consultant to Steph my dental nurse, my actual dentist Uzair & not forgetting Mark himself who was asked by Rebecca to come & say hello to me due to how nervous & uncertain I was. I can vouch for being provided the best service, sympathetic, honest & professional. Credit to all the other nurses who work there who I have not mentioned too. The practice itself is an hour + journey away from my home, it is very much worth the time & money. If you are still looking for the right practice to help you with your dental requirements, please give Mark Tangri a chance . Hopefully your experience will be as pleasant as mine

Fantastic experience: Firstly, I would like to apologise to Govinder Suthi for the delay in posting this review. I am a new patient to this practice and had only seen Gov once for my initial consultation. He was friendly and professional and put me, a ridiculously nervous patient, immediately at ease. However, it was when when I arrived for a second urgent appointment that I realised what an amazing team this practice has and how much they care about their patients. With just 11 days to go before we were due to fly out to America for our son's wedding, I found myself in urgent need of a replacement denture! Gov and his team were absolutely wonderful and pulled out all the stops to get me a new denture made and fitted the day before we left! Gov came in on a Saturday morning for me. I can't thank him enough. I'm afraid I don't know the name of the dental nurse who assisted Gov, but I would like to thank her too. She was lovely and really understood how anxious I felt. I was able to smile with confidence at my son's wedding thanks to these wonderful people!

I was then recommended by my cousin to see Dr Uzair and Uzair was brilliant he gave me a thorough consultation about the condition of my teeth and what state their in & answered any queries that I had. Fantastic experience: Receptionist was very welcoming, Mark was fantastic like most people my daughter and myself are not comfortable at the dentist but Mark helped by talking to us step by step what he was doing and looking for. Explained the next steps clearly to make sure we were happy and understood.

Negative experience: I chose this place because of the reviews, but it's been awful. I went in to check a tooth that was sensitive, they gave me a filling that was done really badly, it hadn't been smoothed and I couldn't close my mouth. After a week I needed to return because it was causing me great pain. It's now been three weeks later. I'm still in pain, my teeth still don't close like before and I cannot close or chew on that side without pain. I need to get it fixed properly but am terrified to go back there as I don't trust the dentist to do a good job. They gave me two different dentists, both very young and obviously very inexperienced. I paid a fortune for them to cause me way more pain than I originally had. Please think careful before coming here

Positive experience: Dentist, hygienist and attending nurse were friendly, informative, very skilled and professional. I really appreciated everything being explained clearly to me, and being told what was happening before it happened. My only complaint would be that I was left waiting at the reception desk a rather long time. When a receptionist started dealing with my query, she broke off to answer the phone and I was left waiting again while she organised an appointment with the patient on the phone.

Negative experience: In summary underwhelmed. Chose this practice based on the Google reviews. Good points - Phoned and appointment booked with hygienist within 24 hours. Reception service great. Not so good points - both the hygienist and her assistant had a personality transplant. Devoid of any beside manner. Hard sell from the beginning to the end, of different treatments and options. No explanations of why and pros and cons. To be honest it was also difficult to understand them as there English accent was not great. Just felt that overall experience was a bit cold and I was treated as a customer from whom they tried to extract as much money as possible rather than as a patient.

Fantastic experience: I was suffering with severe nerve pain in my tooth. Mark Tangri have been so helpful and were able to offer me an emergency appointment on the same day. Maral undertook a thorough examination of all teeth and took X-rays and reassured me it was not an infection but a dying nerve in the tooth. Her advice was very reassuring and helpful of how to manage the pain whilst deciding on the course of treatment. I was seen again 3 weeks later for a root canal, as the pain had not subsided. The root canal was completed in 1 hour long appointment. The entire treatment was carried out with diligence, care and very gently. Before the anaesthetic Maral even applied numbing cream to ease the pain of the injection. Maral is a natural at putting the patient at ease whilst carrying out her expert dentistry procedures in a gentle manner. I barely felt any pain or discomfort from the root canal treatment. I have had root canals at previous dental practices which left me in a lot of pain. I would highly recommend Maral for her skilled, kind and gentle dentistry treatment.

Fantastic experience: I have just left from Mark Tangri Dental Clinic and was blown away by the service I received, so thought it was only right to leave a review. From the moment I sat in that chair and spoke to Mark I knew I was in safe hands. Mark reassured me about everything and explained thoroughly the procedure. He genuinely made me feel so comfortable; I have never experienced that before with any dentist. I was also introduced to Maral who specialises in root canals (which is the procedure I went for) and she was amazing, so caring, understanding and very patient with me. The dental nurses were all welcoming and sympathetic too as I was very anxious. A big thank you to you all for making me feel welcome and at ease. I feel comfortable returning back for my procedure and will definitely be recommending you to family and friends, infact I have already started doing that. ;-) Follow up... After leaving my first review a few weeks ago, I wanted to follow up briefly with another review regarding my treatment. Sedation is the BEST thing ever! It helped me so much during my root canal procedure, I can't recommend it enough. For all those of you who have a fear of pain or suffer with anxiety, I seriously advise you get sedated because it made the world of difference for me. It was absolutely worth the additional cost. Also a big thank you to Dr. Maral and the lovely ladies who assisted during my treatment. You are super stars! Maral thank you for the torough work and saving my tooth, really appreciate it.

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Mark now for 10 years because he is the most patient and understanding dentist I have ever found. I have a crippling phobia of needles and it has stopped me getting the treatment I needed. He has never refused to treat me or made me feel bad about my phobia. He has found a system that works for me, it doesn't take away the fear but rather minimises so that I can get the treatment I need. Simply put I don't know what I'd do without him. Customer for life. Fantastic experience: Being someone who is absolutely petrified of going to the dentists has resulted me in having gum decease. I came across Mark Tangri on social media and straight away he caught my attention as he hit home with all the things I wanted to hear giving me comfort and confidence. I then booked a consultation and from the time I walked in to the time i left I have never felt so comfortable and supported from a dentist. I have since had treatment and have never looked back. I have struggled with going to the dentist for a while and decided after a bad experience I would move to mark tangri dental excellence. I was made to feel extremely welcome and at ease almost immediately as I entered! the staff are incredibly caring and kind and there was a fantastic vibe in the practice. Any nervs I still had about seeing mark himself were completely taken away within the first 5 minutes of talking to him. Mark is an incredible guy, and makes you feel completely at ease, not only that but he explains everything you need to know thoroughly and makes sure all questions you may have are answered. After reading reviews of the many dentists in the area, I picked Mark Tangri, as it seemed to be well regarded by previous patients. I made the right choice! The staff are welcoming, and really put me at ease - the waiting time for appointments is minimal. Treatment options were fully discussed and explained, and the treatment itself was undertaken with the care and professionalism that I hoped for. If it wasn't for my phobia, I'd even say I'm' looking forward' to going back..!

Negative experience: Mark Tangri himself is amazing!! Unfortunately he is let down by some of his receptionist staff who can come across as rude and unhelpful. You seek dental advice and request to speak to a dentist and the receptionist becomes a qualified dentist all of a sudden. Typical dentists in the sense they are more concerned about your money than your dental health. Sorry Mark, nothing personal, just had to be honest.

Negative experience: I have never put a bad review but this is necessary. Four weeks ago I had a wisdom tooth removed. The following days the pain was impossible to bear so I called this practice again to be able to speak with Dr Thanos or Isis Motaban, and to have them explain to me a bit about the reason for this pain or to see me again. They both told me this, that I should call them again in case I had any questions or queries. A woman at the reception (I know she knows who she is) told me that I probably had a dry socket (as far as I am concerned, she is not dentist to give me any kind of advice) and that if I went to the practice I had to pay £60 (since it was an emergency). I called back the following days to see if I could finally speak to some of the professionals. In the end, I had to reserve for today 08-08-2023 paying £60 (which I did not understand why, since this was a consequence of the extraction). When I came today to the practice and explained what happened both Dr Thanos and Isis, they agreed with me and told me that the pain was unbearable because I had a dry socket as well as an infection. I have explained to him all the times that I called this practice, explaining what was happening, and they told me that it was unfair treatment and that I could have gone to the practice to receive something to ease the pain. Afterward, Isis has asked for my refund of £60 and has apologized to me. I am very happy with the service of the professionals behind the reception, but I am disgusted with the treatment by this person at the reception. No apology was given by this member of staff, even though she knew that she could have helped me. I spent £240 for this tooth extraction so I expected a high level of care and this was not provided due to this receptionist blocking communication with Dr Thanos and Isis Motaban.

Initially, I was nervous with my diagnosis ( gum disease), but the outstanding dental service and advice from Mark Tangri with regards to my treatment gave me confidence that I am in good hands. I am optimistic for a good outcome following further visits. I even decided on my first visit to pay monthly for a cost-effective Denplan payment plan to enjoy a happy and healthy smile!

Fantastic experience: I visited Mark Tangri Dental Excellence to get a third opinion and felt quite nervous before the appointment because of what the other practices had diagnosed. The receptionist Martinne and the nurse were very pleasant and welcoming. Dr Uzair was very friendly, professional and explained what he had planned for the appointment. I first had a general routine X-ray to see the overall general health of my teeth. Then a specific X-ray for the affected tooth. He then did a general check of the gums and teeth and then focussed his attention to the tooth I had previous pain in. He did some cold tests and then asked about the history of my teeth. I’d highly recommend Dr Uzair, because he was the only dentist to figure out I had braces before and that my bite and stress might be the reason for what’s causing the pain on my molar tooth rather than the need for a root canal and crown (which is very expensive). Most experiences so far have been very quick, rushed and they straight away diagnose that a root canal is required without actually checking the history and possible causes of pain. Most people are just after money, however Uzair came across as genuinely caring. Thank you to Dr Uzair and the Mark Tangri team.

Fantastic experience: I have just been to the practice to have my composite bonding treatment. Since I first stepped into the practice I have been welcomed by the friendly staff at the reception, Martinne and Bianca. Doctor Thanos and the nurse Adela did an amazing job and explained everything to me, being patient enough to answer all my questions. I am very pleased with the results and the service. I definitely recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Today I have had composite bonding on my upper front 4 teeth.I can honestly say it's the best decision I have ever made. The difference between my before and after photo is astonishing. The procedure was completely painless, my dentist Maral is brilliant. She explained what was going to happen, she is an expert at what she does, and a complete perfectionist. I am over the moon with my result, I cannot recommend this dentist enough.

From start to finish, Dr. Tangri and his staff were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Fantastic experience: I met Mark for an implant which had fallen out. He fitted it on there and then and gave me some advice about maintaining it and booked me in with the hygienist and didn't charge me anything for this appointment. Meanwhile the place which had fitted the implant in the first place had wanted to charge £150 just to see me. So glad I found this surgery and will be using them going forwards.

Negative experience: I went here several years ago to have some cavities filled. One of my teeth remained painful for weeks afterwards, and when I returned there was a “mysterious” crack in that tooth; I needed a very expensive root canal to fix it. No discounts were offered on this emergency root canal, despite it obviously being a result of the shoddy work on my previous visit. I regret trusting Dr Tangri with my dental health, and I resent the hundreds of pounds I had to pay them to fix their own dodgy work.

Positive experience: I visited Mark Tangerie"s dental practice for the first time in Febuary 2023 after having a terrible experience at my previous dental practice where I had implants. Mark took images and then explained in detail what was wrong and what ideally needed to happen to put my problems right. He was pleasant and Informative and put me at ease. I returned a week later and had some work done. I was sedated which was fine, (I was initially worried about this) and I am really pleased with the results so far. I found Mark to be very knowledgeable and professional, he also has a good sense of humour which helps nervous patients, but most importantly he takes the time to explain everything step by step and will answer all questions put to him. I highly recommend Mark Tangerie's dental practice, especially for problems with implants or if you are thinking of having implants, this is the practice you need. Sheila Moore
