City Dental - Leeds Dental Clinic

Negative experience: I have loved my visits to City Dental for over 20 years, which all my family and friends can attest to as find it strange I look forward to going for my cleans and check ups, but sadly the practise is not what it once was when Sunny owned it and regretfully, I will be leaving. The price hike for Denplan is an insult and not even priced competitively amongst other private dentists for the same service, the service I received today was more NHS vibes than private, which I pay for and my gums/teeth have been incredibly sensitive all day which I have never experienced before in my 40+ hygienist apts before. It felt rushed and very aggressive. The hygienist even managed to insult me about the discolouration of a tooth she clearly hadn’t checked my notes as would have seen from a childhood accident 30+ years ago. Or was this just going to be a sales pitch? Such a shame to see such a great practice decline so quickly. Even all existing staff have also left following Sunnys departure. They didn’t want to stay either. I will be leaving the practise and join another private dentist.

Negative experience: It’s really gone downhill since Sonny left. I was told I had an outstanding payment for a missed appointment I had no recollection of, I believe this was before the new company took over and they tried it on, I had to pay or I could not have my check up. No one seems to know what’s going on. I was told I could have an implant on my dencare plan, and I only had to pay the lab costs, and then was made to feel like an idiot for asking again the other dentist, who said it would cost 3.5k, she didn’t seem to believe me that the previous dentist said this. The hygienist appintoment with the dentist was very poor. Feels more like a cosmetic dentistry nowadays who are eager to take your money and provide substandard care.

Fantastic experience: Had a hygienist appointment recently with Perveen and Adrienne at City Dental. They checked in with me regularly to make sure I was comfortable or if I needed a break. Perveen had previously recommended adding on airflow treatment to help lift stains and it was fantastic! They were as gentle as possible throughout the process and made me feel very much at ease.

Negative experience: Beware. This company will try and scam you. They contacted my wife 3 years ago saying she had an outstanding payment of £55.00 owing. My wife queried this via email as she always paid in full on each visit. No reply. Months later they again asked for payment, again she queried it, again no reply. So she went into the practice and spoke to them in person. They could find no proof or record of the owed payment. Said they would look into it but never got back to her. Months later we received another email, again asking for payment with no information regarding what or when the treatment was. So we queried at. Surprise surprise, no reply. So again she visited in person and again they could not provide any information or details regarding the debt. Two more emails have been sent, twice more we've received no reply. This morning we have received an email from a debt collection agency so it looks like we're going to court. Do not use this company. They are either scammers or incompetent. If they can't keep and provide records they definitely aren't qualified to care for your teeth.

Fantastic experience: Love the hygienist Parveen she was really good and friendly. She always checked if i was okay which made me feel comfortable

Fantastic experience: Needed an urgent appointment for a broken tooth and got in same day. All the staff are really friendly and professional.

Negative experience: I had treatment here with Sunny who was the previous owner and I was so happy with the service I received. I would have given this place a 5 star! Then, the practice was sold and taken over by new owners and management. Since then I have had nothing but disappointment after disappointment. There been so many issues, failures and mistakes that I don’t even know where to start describing the experience I have had since the new owners/management took over. I feel exhausted by my experience and am incredibly frustrated with the lack of/poor communication from the staff but in particular, Alexandra, the practice manager. Alexandra’s customer service is pretty poor; she fail's to respond to emails, avoids finding a resolution to issues and takes no accountability for her errors. The customer service is the worse I’ve experienced. I am currently waiting for a response from an email I sent 3 weeks ago and have chased multiple times. This is regarding a mistake that was made nearly 6 weeks ago that incurred me excess costs and is the second time I’ve incurred excess costs at this practice with this new team. Do not be fooled by the 4.8 star reviews!! Most of these will be from when Sunny owned the practice. The service and experience is definitely not the same. In fact…. The complete opposite!

Negative experience: I required an emergency dental appointment over bank holiday weekend. Practice was closed which is fair enough. I called 111 and was offered an emergency appointment on tuesday after BH, by which time my dentist, city dental were open. I called first thing to be told that no dentists were available for another 6 days. I pay dental insurance and through it have a contract with the dentist practice to provide dental care, including emergency cover.what is point of that if they can't / won't provide it when needed and I have to place additional burden on the NHS. This used to be a great dentist when suni and his team owned it, now owned by a bigger company Rodericks, they seem to care more about "smile" treatments I will be looking for another dentist - I wanted to add another review but Google only lets me edit original, which is a shame , because this dentist used to be awesome.

Fantastic experience: Dr Mahmood was very friendly and informative and made an anxious experience for me much less anxious as I have sensitive teeth so im very grateful for that. The staff were also really nice too.

Fantastic experience: Had my second visit with Dr Nasar today, and I am very happy, he is a great dentist and always feel comfortable

Positive experience: Going the process of having various fillings ( which bupa never told me I needed) city dental let's me do the fillings at my own pace as I have to budget. However my recent appointment has been cancelled & no one has contacted me to rearrange. Only 3 more fillings to go. I would not recommend bupa dental.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. I have had a range of work carried out here and without exception all of the staff have been really professional, helpful, approachable and supportive. At each point the options that have been open to me have been discussed in detailed so that I have felt involved in the decisions around treatment. I'm probably not alone in being concerned about dental work, but (and this has included root canal work with multiple visits to complete treatment) I have been put at ease and all of the work has been carried out with the minimum if discomfort with reassurance from all the staff concerned. After a recent visit, as sometimes happens, I was prompted to leave a review. Quite a few staffing changeovers but I still stand by all my comments above and the most excellent service and support continues - highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Just had my fixed braces removed yesterday. I am over the moon with the outcome. Sunny is a top man and his friendly, genuine service is second to none. Highly recommend City Dental for teeth straightening.

Negative experience: Please avoid at all costs. I got dental bonding here in 2021, and it’s just been bodge job after bodge job. The dentist finally fixed the issue in 2022, and to be fair - I was very happy with this… until it broke just a year later. I then had to pay a new dentist - due to them being sold to Rodericks - to fix the break, this wasn’t done properly and left a joining line that has stained the teeth inside the bonding. Meaning it can now not be remediated by polishing. I have now been told I have to pay £500 to have this re done - even though the tooth bonding is little under 3 years old. The receptionist said to me “well dental bonding does only last between 5 - 7 years”. Fully aware of this, when I advised it was three years old, I was told that if I eat lots of food like curries (?) then it won’t last as long. Right… I hand on heart wish I had never ever gone here for the work doing in the first place. Now I’m left £600 down, with an awful job on my teeth. Please do yourself a favour and avoid.

Fantastic experience: Booking process was easy and all done online, place was easy to find and dentist was very nice and reassuring

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous customer service and practitioner ,my original dentist has left unbeknown to me ,I wasn't told even when arriving. I was told two different prices for a second implant denture and told I had to pay for tightening up my implants. Unbelievable

Fantastic experience: I’m a very scared patient but the wonderful, friendly staff have been so good with me and I don’t feel as scared. I have had another appointment today and am feeling much happier about going. Mr Mahmoud and the whole team are awesome. I highly recommend this dental practice. 10/10. Thank you.

Positive experience: My previous dentist has apparently left the practice but this was not explained to me... the only clue was an email confirming my next appointment with a name of dentist and hygienist I did not recognise which led me to check the website. Appointment with dentist was very brief, barely no conversation before treatment. Priority appeared to be selling cosmetic treatment. Hygienist appointment was OK but face and neck got quite wet which never experienced before! I have booked my next routine appointments as have been with this practice for approx 6 years so ideally do not wish to change practice!

Fantastic experience: What a great dentist ! Very impressed! Gave me confidence in my ability to look after my own teeth and know I’m doing great at home.

Negative experience: I was -very disappointed that my dental check up was cancelled at very short notice Px for the 3rd time. It’s sad to see how a practice that I’ve been using for years has deteriorated since the change in ownership. I was able however to see the hygenist who was as good as ever

Fantastic experience: Hilary, my wife, having her bottom set of teeth done, from extracting the remaining teeth to having a new denture made and fitted. We’re now at the fitting stage, and it’s all gone well. Hopefully getting the final fitting in ten days time. Dr Mahmood has been great, as was the lady at the lab, who was helpful and lovely (can’t remember her name, but she’s Polish!). All in all a great experience. Will add a review and photos when finished!

Negative experience: 1st time with new dentist Very polite and friendly Inspection was ok no work needed so hard to judge ! Dental hygiene normally takes 20 to 30 minutes with Nicola who was always very gentle and thorough and took pride in her work . I feel the experience today was inferior, Both inspection and hygiene done in 15 minutes . Rodericks are cutting corners and it feels like I am no longer getting a premium service ! Gone from gold to brass . Will be looking else where

Negative experience: Had treatment to straighten my teeth, which was complete end of 2023, all went well and I'm happy with the results. However I have just been contacted for an outstanding payment, even though the full amount was payed for at the start of the procedure using a loan through secure trust. City dental how can you say I owe you money 8 months after my treatment finished and when I've already payed. Also the receptionist was unprofessional as she hung up the phone whilst I was explaining the situation.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly and great service - I highly reccomend! I came in for braces in May 2021 and just got my retainer today and I'm very happy with the results.

Positive experience: First time ever that my dentist has cancelled. But this is the first time with my new dentist who has replaced Sunny. See how it goes for my future appointments with him I have made sure that I see Nicola my hygienist first then Nasar. So if he doesn’t turn up again, it is not a wasted trip for me. Please turn up Nasar. It will be nice to meet you.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic service! Got me an appointment within 2 days and at the time they couldn’t see me for the full check and clean, however on the day the dentist was so friendly and offered to do the clean for me as well so I didn’t have to go back. I also had my composite bonding done with them 10 years ago and they still look like new! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting cosmetic treatment!

Fantastic experience: Mr Ihab Ibrahaim is a cheerful, pleasant and very skilled dentist who always puts his patients first and at ease, reassuring them explaining any treatment clearly. He has a smooth gentle and seemless approach to his work so much so that I didn't realise he had completed my filling! I had a good experience at this practice and will continue to go there.

Fantastic experience: City Dental has made my new journey in straighter and healthier teeth an absolute lovely experience. I have been seeing Sunny, for almost two years now, he is a very easy going, friendly, trustable and dependable dentist and I felt at ease with him from the get go. And now finally last few tweaks in appearance of shape of a few teeth with minimal composite bonding, which I will have done in few weeks time. Negative experience: GO AWAY whoever is reading! It was the WORST of the WORST dental service in my ENTIRE life. I had a composite bonding job with dr.Ihab. The composite bonding material broke less than a month. The service during get the job done was even worse. The dentist DID NOT USE plastic film to separate the teeths during the jobs; smoothing, cutting the surface. After its done, I asked that did he cut or did anything to my tooth (the one next to the composite bonding) because it looks weird to me. The gap between teeths was wider. He told me that he did not do anything. Then he did something and I was told that he just polished the tooth. BUT now I know he was CONCEALING his CARELESS job! I just found out because whatever material that he used to coat the gap just BROKE!!!! I swear that I never ever done anything on this tooth. This is totally a nightmare. Less than 6 months, now I have one broken composite bonding tooth and broken tooth that I never have before. And have to redo composite bonding for both teeth!!

Fantastic experience: The practice has been brilliant for me, and in particular Shaf who has been kind, patient and diligent in leading my treatment plan. When I first walked into the practice my teeth were all over the place and it really affected my confidence. After Invisalign treatment, I finished with a session in which my retainer was fitted and a small amount of bonding done and it’s totally transformed my smile. Shaf and Meena were excellent in that final appointment and I’ve felt supported and consulted throughout. I’ll definitely keep coming back to the practice for check ups and visits to the hygienist now and am delighted with the service I’ve received.

Fantastic experience: It has been a couple of weeks since I finished my treatment and from the start, the dentist and the staff have always attended to any concerns that I had or questions about the different adjustments during my treatment. Also, they are very understanding regarding changing the date of an appointment which I found very kind of them. The process of getting my braces done was supposed to be different but over time with the changes that occurred the dentist provided me with all the information that I needed to make sure that I was fully aware of the situation and that a change of course could have been done. I would recommend people to go here for any dental treatments as the dentist and the rest of the staff are lovely people, always there to attend and any enquiries that a person might need.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend City Dental enough! Not only are all the staff professional but they are so friendly and polite. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Dr Gakhal and his team. I have just finished my Invisalign journey (of 3 years) and I couldn’t be more happy with the end result. Dr Gakhal is very knowledgable and professional - I feel like I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my teeth now. He made the finishing touches to my teeth this week with composite bonding and they look great. A massive thank you City Dental.

Fantastic experience: I'm so delighted with the results of my treatment. I never smiled in photos and felt self conscious about the positioning of my teeth. I had invisilign followed by a fixed brace due to a stubborn tooth. We removed the braces this week and my teeth look fantastic! I've just picked up my overnight retainers and whitening treatment and can't wait to see how that turns out. Sunni, Abi and the amazing team of nurses and welcome staff have been fantastic from the beginning, through lockdown and at every appointment since. I cannot recommend City Dental enough. Fantastic experience: The veneer on one of my front teeth fell off about this time last year, and I was really self conscious. After numerous vists to my nhs dentist who refused to do the treatment i wanted him to, I decided to look further afield. I looked at all the reviews at various dentists and came across this one because the reviews were really good. I first saw Sunny who was very nice , then I saw Ihab the rest of the time. He is a really nice and good dentist who did exactly what I wanted, he was very thorough and my teeth now look lovely. The receptionist are really nice and pleasant too. I recommend this dentist to anyone. Some of the NHS dentists should take notice of this and be a bit more accommodating.

Fantastic experience: I recently finished my treatment at City Dental, having had fixed braces for 17 months followed by teeth whitening. I received great care and I’m incredibly happy with the results. I saw both Shaf and Sunny for my treatment, both of whom were very friendly and professional. The team were also very accommodating with my appointments, as I moved to Scotland part way through my treatment, always making sure I could have appointments when needed and been very flexible and helpful. Fantastic experience: Brillant and experienced specialists who have been able to straighten my teeth and fix my underbite using braces. I have visited numerous other dental practices who have told me that my particular set of teeth is difficult to straighten and fix. Sunny has done the impossible and managed to not only fix my bite but also made me fully confident in showing my smile without any fear about how my teeth looks. Everyone in City Dental is nice and is always willing to answer any questions you may have. 100% would recommend to anyone looking for top quality treatment.

Fantastic experience: I found City Dental wanting to first sort out the health of my teeth and than take care of the cosmetic side. I had few fillings done then during pandemic got an infection from root canal done somewhere else years ago. I couldn’t get help from NHS so I contacted Them and they couldn’t be more helpful. Dr. Shaf advised I would normally have to be referred to specialist but because during pandemic the waiting times are so long it could get worse so I decided to take my tooth out there. He was very honest and told me if I tried to save the tooth I would pay around £1000 but with the small chance of actually being able to save it I could probably take it out and then spend the money on getting an implant without The chance of wasting my money. I was so stressed the assistant even held my hand throughout the procedure !Dr. Shaf managed to take the infection out and checked the area with a scan few times during following appointments to make sure it’s completely out and healing. I have finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Shaf now and I couldn’t recommend the clinic more. I straightened my teeth previously in one of the clinics in York and after not wearing my retainer my teeth went back to their natural position.I struggled to find a place in Leeds. To be honest I never got past speaking with reception until I contacted City Dental. Everyone is so lovely, professional and respectful. I noticed a massive difference between my previous treatment and this one. Previously I only had my gaps closed, this time Dr. Shaf made sure to move my teeth enough so that I don’t keep grinding my front teeth and as he said “ they last me longer”, my jaw doesn’t hurt anymore as I can’t grind my teeth at night. They don’t just care about the cosmetics but the overall health of your teeth which is very reassuring. You can trust them 100%❤️Thank you ! Joanna:)

Fantastic experience: I've just finished my invisalign journey with Sunny and the team and I couldn't be happier. Right from the start the whole team filled me with confidence, with a professional yet warm approach and they have all been amazing throughout, going above and beyond with staff even staying late on a Friday to make sure I got my retainers on time! Sunny was open about what he felt we could achieve and was realistic from the start about what may or may not be possible. I had seen a few dentists before Sunny and all told me my open bite could only be treated with surgery so I wasn't expecting too much from the treament other than a straighter smile. I have been blown away by what Sunny and the team have achieved. My bite is hugely improved and so much better than what both Sunny and myself thought was possible. This was all due to Sunny's knowledge, expertise and patience. I never once felt I was being rushed through treatment. Treatment time doubled from what we first expected, from 1 yr to 2 yrs total but this is testament to Sunny's desire to ensure I was satisfied and to get the best results possible. I'm so grateful to all of the team, particularly Sunny and cannot recommend them highly enough.

I’d been self-conscious about my crowded and crooked teeth for many years, but even so I was nervous about getting orthodontic treatment. However, the team at City Dental were informative and understanding from my initial consultation onwards. The best option for me was fixed braces and extractions to make space for my teeth to align. Dr Sunny has a lovely, calm demeanour and did an amazing job throughout (especially considering the additional challenges of dealing with a full-blown pandemic!), and I always felt like I was in safe hands. I’m absolutely thrilled with the end result and would highly recommend City Dental to anyone considering braces. Being able to smile with confidence really feels fantastic!

Fantastic experience: After years of hiding my smile, for my 30th birthday I decided to take the plunge and so something about it, after alot of research I chose City dental. The initial consultation was so informative Dr sunny is so friendly and really puts you at ease, he explained to me the best way to go was fixed braces and that's exactly what I did ! My treatment was over 14 months, say them every 4 weeks, always on time never had me waiting around or anything so professional and the girls yhay work there are all smily happy and friendly too. I once had to take my newborn son with me and one too the ladies in reception actually took care of him while I was in a appointment which I think is going above and beyond. Fantastic experience: After years of wearing fake clip in veneers I finally decided to sort my smile out once and for all! Over the course of a year I’ve had whitening, hygiene appointments, a failed root canal fixed, an implant fitted and composite bonding done and throughout it all I cannot fault this practice. From the dental nurses, to the receptionists they are so welcoming and professional. As someone who dreaded the dentist previously, this has completely changed now. I decided to drive 2 hours there and 2 hours back each appointment as I heard these were the guys to go to, and it was worth all the driving. Fantastic experience: What can I say and where do I start? Sunny and the fabulous team at City Dental have not just changed my smile, but also changed my outlook on life. I started my teeth straightening journey back in June 2019, and just over two and a half years later I'm done. We got through Covid, we got through three teeth extractions, we got through me doubting it'll ever change, but Sunny kept me going throughout. The front of house team have always been a delight. Linda helped me so much in the early days, always ringing after my appointment to make sure I was okay. Recently, Abi and the team have been a delight, always so welcoming. I met many of the dental nurses, and would like to say thanks to Jane and everybody else who helped along the way. A big thumbs up to the hygienist Nicola as well! Even during Covid - a weird time for all - Sunny and the team kept going when they could, even if that meant ringing me or emailing to keep in touch in any way we could. It was a sad day on my last appointment, as I'd been seeing the City Dental Team for over two years, normally once a month, but it was nice to leave with a nice, big new smile on my face (hiding under the mask of course due to Covid!). Fantastic experience: I've been wanting to have braces for a while now and after alot of research, several telephone and face to face consultations, I decided on City Dental. I must say from all of my consultations, I was most at ease and positive about Sunny's treatment plan: at this point in it was just an overview as they needed to do X rays to further see my teeth in detail. I then went in for face to face appointment. Met some of their lovely, friendly, professional and kind staff. I discussed all my concerns, from over crowded narrow palate, midline shift, TMJ issues..etc and after a full investigation and discussion I am now super excited to see my treatment start next week. Sunny has been so kind and patient through all my appointments and number of questions so far and has shown genuine concern to fully address my issues. I usually do not write reviews unless I have genuinely high praises to sing, but on this occasion I honestly cannot recommend City Dental enough! ☺️

Fantastic experience: Having not visited the dentist/hygienist for over 10 years following years of trauma as a young teen with several braces I finally built up the courage to go and see Nicola for a hygiene appointment. Oh WOW! I genuinely had no reason to worry from the first contact with Abi the treatment co-ordinator over the phone, to stepping inside City Dental and then leaving I was made to feel welcome by all members of staff. I would highly recommend going to see Nicola who was so gentle and friendly. Ill be sure to visit again and I promise it wont be another 10 years :)

Fantastic experience: I’ve just finished my treatment which I am absolutely over the moon with, I went for my original consultation at the end of last year a very nervous patient, one who hadn’t been to the dentist for a number of years due to bad experiences. I was made to feel comfortable straight away and didn’t feel amy pain with any of the treatments as Ihab promised. I’ve gone from been very embarrassed to smile to having a great smile that family and friends have complimented me on. I would highly recommend especially if you’re a nervous person.

Negative experience: Really disappointed with the service and quality i had cracked my tooth and went in for an emergency appointment 2 months ago and my temp filling fell out. It usually last up to 3 months When i called to get it filled for more permanent I was told they can't help me due to not taking on new customers:( Now I just have a hole in my teeth and no where to go after paying for my initial assessment i now have to start over again and do it at another practice

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank the City Dental team enough for the comprehensive treatment I have received. After an initial consultation, Dr. Gakhal recommended Invisalign to correct my crossbite and the general crowding of both maxillary and mandibular teeth. The course of treatment took just over 12 months and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not only do my teeth look less crowded, but my bite is much improved from what it once was. A complementary course of home tooth whitening was included, which again has improved the appearance of my teeth since one of my central incisors was discoloured from a past accident. At each and every appointment, Dr. Gahkal and his team have provided friendly and jovial service, providing thorough explanations of how to achieve optimal results with the alignment trays. I can now smile with confidence!

Fantastic experience: I went for a consultation a few years back when I lived in Leeds but for one reason or another I put off having braces so when I finally got round to having them I was living in york but the customer service and friendliness always stuck in my mind from city dental so every month I would do the long drive over from york to Leeds. From the receptionists to the orthodontist, they’re all so lovely. I’ve just had my 6 month smile braces off and couldn’t be happier. Just a few more weeks of whitening and then I’m back for composite bonding
