That said, in recent years it has increasingly felt like much more of a business & during a recent visit staff only advised me on products they were selling, as opposed to other options on the market, which felt a bit off. Positive experience: Took my elderly friend a dental check up. The Dentist was kind and considerate and talked my friend through the treatment she was proposing. The only down side of this practice is trying to get through on the phone, often unable to take the call. I have left a message and hopefully they will ring me back ..

Fantastic experience: Another very pleasant, calm and engaging dentist. She takes the time to discuss any issues, no rushing out the door. A big thumbs up from me.

Negative experience: Waited two months for referral, which had been bounced by the hospital. For unknown reason no follow up with surgery. When I contacted them to deal, left with half a tooth in my gum, which requires not only another referral to get out, but it’s been left in such a condition that the next person trying to get it will need to cut my gums to pieces. Left in agony, nerve exposed and probed to infection, and still waiting for referral! Being told to ring 111 for emergency was not appreciated, however may be my only recourse now.
Fantastic experience: I went to see Prakriti Shrestha at Ardent Sidcup Dental Clinic. She is one of the Hygienists at the Clinic. Praktiti was polite, pleasant and did a great job. I also saw my Dentist Michael Murugiah who gave me good advice with regard to my dental health currently and the treatment that I will need in the future.

Positive experience: Went for a check up was hardly in the chair for 5 minutes and that was the check up!

It is common for a dental exam to take only five minutes or so, particularly with our patients who attend regularly and do not require any treatment or x-rays.
We allocate a set amount of time for our examination appointments, and in this time, the dentist also needs to write up their appointment notes and prepare for the next patient, while the nurse is busy decontaminating the surgery and then setting up for the next patient.
We hope this has made you feel reassured that whilst your appointment was 5 minutes long, we covered all areas required for a full examination.

Fantastic experience: I had a six month check up carried out by Ajay Singh Phull. I told him that I had a problem with a back tooth he took a X-ray that confirmed that the tooth had to come out I come back the following day and had the tooth removed. He was extremely thorough and very professional I cannot recommend him enough Michael Revell

Fantastic experience: Honestly one of the best dentists i have come across. I only joined last week. I have seen more than one dentist. All the staff are excellent and they explain everything in so much detail if you are unsure about anything. I feel totally more relaxed and came out feeling positive after i had a scare with a wisdom tooth! They definitely make you feel comfortable. I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Negative experience: When I called to make an appointment, I explained that I had two specific concerns. I was booked in with the expectation that at least one (loose implant) would be sorted. I was told that I would have to tell them the make of the implant so that they could find the right screwdriver out of the many that they had and that it would cost £150 to fix. I won’t be going back

We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed by your experience with us. When we book a new patient in for an examination, it is to check their teeth and gum health and to advise if there is anything that might need treatment, to prevent anything progressing and getting worse. It is also an opportunity for the patient to discuss any concerns they have with the dentist, and these can then be looked at and hopefully rectified with a suitable treatment plan and future appointments.
With regard to implants, there are a vast array of implants available on the global market, and without the knowledge of which one a patient has, we are unable to proceed with treatment, as we would not wish to damage an implant in any way. We of course appreciate this has caused you frustration, but this is beyond our control.

Fantastic experience: Had an unfortunate situation with one of my tooth and needed somewhere local and urgent inspection. Saw the online reviews which sees pretty good so thought I'll go with it since I haven't really been to the dentist for regularly checkups since 18 (everything is pricey nowadays) got lucky with a reasonably low maintenance teeth (touchwood) anyways easy booking online and friendly receptionist, you get the email/text reminders for the appointment. The dentist with Dr. Ashee Rajabali was very good at her role, explained the process, and diagnosed the problem/solutions easily. Made easy work of the filling and provided general hygiene maintenance advice for me. Parking is very limited unless you have disabled parking badge, but there are a few rounds around the corner where you can park and walk 3 to 5 mins. Standard prices according to my friends and own research for dental treatment... I still don't get why i have to pay the extra NHS charge bands should be covered by all the income tax I'm being robbed every month!

Negative experience: I was disappointed with mine and my family’s last visit to the dentist I’d called ahead to explain that my son is diagnosed non verbal ASD and would not understand would need more time etc the dentist asked me while my son was in the chair “what type of Autism he had” I was quite shocked by this question, as well as this myself and my children seem to spent literally minutes in the chair, children no problem so I was told but myself I was worried about a crown that had broken i was told “I’ll cover it” no more time looking at other teeth, no clean just that I could see someone else who could give me options and then I paid £75 and felt totally ripped off and upset about the comment about my son.

Negative experience: Will never use this dental surgery again. I originally went for a tooth extraction. The problems started from there. The dentist didn’t take the whole tooth out and damaged my tooth behind. I had to go back twice as I kept on getting an infection and was charged for the medication twice. The dentist then filled the cracked tooth behind without an explanation only for me to realise later when I got home. At a later date went to another dentist for the cracked tooth that got infected and he could not believe what he saw and the root that was left in my mouth. After talking to the dental manager who was completely in denial I strongly recommend not using this surgery. Unprofessional job and really disappointed with the level of service that I received.

It is unfortunate that sometimes, patients cancel their treatment appointments or indeed repeatedly miss their treatment appointments and never return to complete their treatment. This leaves existing problems vulnerable to further deterioration. In this situation, should a patient not return for years, it really is beyond our control if a patient experiences further deterioration with their dentition.
With respect to a root being left in the gum, it is relatively common that a tooth can break upon extraction, leaving a root behind. This is included in our extraction consent form as a possible risk. This is then assessed and can sometimes be left in the gum or it can be advised that this needs to be removed, sometimes by a specialist. Where we advise a patient this needs to be attended to for fear of repeated infection, again it really is beyond our control if a patient does not seek treatment.

Quality service for both check up and hygiene appointments with good relevant advice. Negative experience: I telephone the surgery at 10.18am on Friday 8th September. I spoke to a male receptionist (Sam?) and explained that I had broken a large tooth that morning, and asked for an appointment. He offered me 4.10pm that same day, which I gladly accepted. He asked if I wanted an email reminder, but I said not necessary. I had trouble finding somewhere to park, but arrived on time only to be told my name was not on the screen and therefore I didn't have an appointment. Michael did come downstairs and had a quick look, but that was all. I said I wasn't happy. I had wasted an hour of my day.

It made me unsure whether I had completed the forms as repeatedly sent, I had sent them already! But overall a good service

Fantastic experience: Called up on a Saturday morning to see if there was any way they could reattach my fixed retainer that day. Received a call back 30 mins later to be told that they could see me, despite being fully booked. Negative experience: I want to give a really honest review. The reception staff are excellent and really polite. The dentist lady I found to be a bit funny. I explained my underlying causes of tooth issues due to pregnancy and PCOS and thyroid problems . She told me abruptly that PCOS and Thyroid issues dont cause tooth problems. She clearly lacks medical knowledge which I would expect the dentist to know in all their years of medical studies. They do cause tooth problems a simple google search would have given her this education. I am also aware of this because I under the endocrinologist. It left a bad impression on me. She also told me lemon water is bad for your teeth but a slice in a jug of 3L i doubt will erode my teeth more than sweets. The orthodontics association stated the following We recommend: Mix the lemon juice in 250ml of warm water in order to help to lessen the acidity. You can further reduce risk by drinking lemon water through a straw. My first impression was disappointing her attitude and ignorance. Thats why I am giving 2 stars.

We are sorry to hear that the dentist provided advice to you that you feel was incorrect. As a profession, we take a holistic approach when it comes to assessing a patient and their overall oral health, to ensure that all factors are considered when providing advice on how to manage a patient’s oral health and prevent problems.
We look at the medical history, oral health care at home, lifestyle habits and of course diet. There are some medical conditions that can increase the process of gum disease and tooth decay, but this is often a more minor factor, with other causes such as diet and lifestyle habits being the main culprits. We advise patients on what is potentially the causes and how to prevent tooth decay.
Whilst lemon and water is very good for your overall health, it can be acidic and cause enamel demineralisation. I can see that you have read an article online and taken a quote from it. The full article does explain in detail that drinking water with lemon in it can cause tooth erosion, so whilst it does have benefits to your health, there is a risk to your dental health. The article is very informative about ways to help prevent lemon water damaging your teeth. In addition, the article also states:
- After drinking the acidic lemon water, rinse your mouth with water straight away. This removes any acid that may remain on the tooth surface and reduces the acidity of the oral saliva.
- Chew sugar-free gum after drinking the lemon water. This helps you produce more saliva, which helps neutralise the acidity in your mouth.
- Do not brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes after drinking the lemon water.
- Use a soft toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste (fluoride toughens your enamel) and do not brush aggressively. Acid softens the enamel and makes it more prone to erosion during brushing

Although a small amount of lemon in water will greatly reduce the effects of the lemon, if you are drinking this all day long, it will increase the acid erosion of your teeth and will cause them to be more sensitive and look more yellow, as the dentine underneath can start to show through, which is more yellow in colour. It will also cause your mouth overall to be more acidic and will in turn feed the bacteria that live in your mouth that cause tooth decay.

My routine checkup was carried out by Tapan, and I must say this was the best dentist experience I've had to date. Fantastic experience: I found this dental surgery via a Google search for my mum who was not registered with a dentist but in terrible pain with an abscess - the reception staff were fabulous and managed to fit her in within an hour even though she was not an existing patient! Mum is really nervous of the dentist, so hadn’t been for years - she felt totally at ease here and once her initial infection was sorted, the dentist (Ashee) worked up a plan for work needed to take place over a few months. Mum said during the treatment she felt totally reassured and looked after, experienced no pain and was the best experience she’d had at a dentist by far - her treatment finished and her new bridge is fantastic - such a good job you cannot even tell which teeth have been replaced! Would highly recommend, especially for those who are nervous of the dentist. Costs for treatment were also very competitive.

Positive experience: Having a disabled wife she requires her teeth cleaned on every check up which is no problem. But now we are required to book with the Hygienist, this now requires two journeys, extra time waiting outside in the cold etc. This is not an improvement it’s a step backwards. Apart from this they are efficient and very kind would recommend.

Hygiene appointments can be booked on the same day as your wife’s check-up, so please speak to reception and they can coordinate those to be at the same time. Please note that because the diary gets very busy, it is difficult to coordinate appointments at short notice, so if you book in advance, there should be no difficulty in accommodating this for you.
We note your comments about waiting outside. We have been conscious that our patients would want to know and understand how and why we are operating, and as such we have written to patients several times since COVID started to keep you informed.
We wrote again towards the end of last year to advise that we now have limited seating in the reception area and waiting room and we regularly pop outside to invite patients to come inside and wait, where space allows. We kindly ask patients to arrive just before their allotted appointment time, so they are not waiting long. We endeavour to keep patients waiting no more than a few minutes for their appointments, but of course with it being a health care service, we do sometimes run later than anticipated, which is unavoidable. We also advise patients to wear warm clothing and bring an umbrella in case there is not enough room inside the practice to wait safely. Some patients still opt to wait outside.
We still need to keep everyone safe. Dentistry is very high risk for COVID transmission. With these procedures in place, we are ensuring the safety of everyone, including those at increased risk from the virus who may not be able to have the vaccines for health reasons or who have had the vaccines but could still be very poorly if they were to contract the virus. Many patients are still worried about attending, and we are able to reassure them that we are doing everything we can to ensure their safety. We receive a lot of feedback from patients thanking us for our protocols because they felt very safe when they attended. As you will see when you go out, some people still choose to wear a face covering.
We are very sorry if you were kept waiting outside. You are welcome to park your car on the drive at your wife’s next appointments as we have always reserved a space for disabled patients, and you can wait in your car if we are very busy and these procedures are still in place. We hope to be able to relax these procedures as soon as possible, however guidance for us and how we work remains the same, despite widespread relaxation of COVID rules.
We are aware that whilst infections from Covid are less debilitating than before due to the vaccines, if a staff member does contract the virus, they could still be very unwell with it. If they happen to have mild symptoms, they would still need to isolate at home. If we have low staff numbers due to this, we would need to start cancelling appointments, so it’s essential that we keep the staff healthy too, to ensure we can continue to care for our patients.
We hope this helps to put your mind at rest on the points raised and feel assured that we continue to do all we can to keep you and the team safe. We will write to you again as and when our operations change.

Positive experience: Used by my husband and myself . My husband is in a wheelchair and they see him is a room where he can access but the area is tight (side passage, often a car parks near the side exit) plus although he can get intot he room, he rarely can have treatmet as he cannot transfer to the dentist chair. Very few dentists have ability for this anyway but it wiuld be nice to see the dentists place have a small refurbishment for disablility patients . The dentist is kind and friendly though and checks our teeth well.

We do indeed have disabled access but we are limited to the constraints of the building, which makes moving patients of limited physical ability very difficult in the limited space that we have. We can refer your husband to a dental facility where he can be treated in his own wheelchair using a wheel tipper. On occasion we do indeed reach a point where it is no longer safe for patients to be seen at the practice. If you would like further details please speak to reception.
We also note your comment that cars on the drive park close to the side entrance. We will advise the team to ensure that if they park on the drive that they leave ample room for manoeuvre.
