Negative experience: Unfortunately this dentist does not have transparent or fair charges. I attended last minute and was told the consultation would cost £70. The total then came to over £100. When I questioned this I was told ‘because the dentist cleaned your teeth.’ The dentist cleaned one tooth which took two minutes maximum. To be charged an additional £30 for this is absurd and not fair. I’ve been to many dentists where there are additional charges for fair items such as x-rays, but to charge for a two minute clean of one tooth was not good service.
Dear Sophie, We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service and charges. Firstly, we managed to see you as an emergency within 30mins of you calling the practice despite you are not a patient of the clinic and you were flying on a holiday the following day. Your own dentist at another practice could not see you as an emergency. The consultation charge is £70 and the £30 included issue of prescription and debridement of the wisdom tooth area. The costs are actually a lot cheaper than most private dentists who see non registered patient on an emergency basis. You should have asked your own practice as to why they could not have seen you as an emergency when you are a patient of theirs.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Shah is an outstanding dentist, and I’ve been a patient for many years, always receiving exceptional care. I recently saw hygienist Martyna Wronski for the first time, and she was extremely thorough, taking the time to explain everything clearly. The receptionists are also lovely and welcoming. Highly recommend this clinic.

Negative experience: Second bad experience at this clinic. First appointment I was given a much lower quote than what I actually ended up paying. Dentist did not inform me of the extra costs before preceding. Today I was not let in as I was 7 minutes late. I had called ahead and informed them of my delay. When I arrived I was informed I was not allowed to see the dentist as I was late. Dont bother with this clinic and unwelcoming staff.
Not sure as to why the review is re-written but you have not attended the clinic for over a year
Having looked at your records, Dr Anand quoted you hygiene fees which you agreed and had your teeth cleaned. You also have your own dentist in your country and we were still happy to see you under the NHS. What we expect is patients attending their appointments on time. Unfortunately, you were late which meant wasting Dr Anands clinical time and she was not able to see you.
Fantastic experience: I have been a patient since I was a child and now my daughter attends with me. The staff are all amazing, caring, attentive and responsive. A special mention to Dr Cowdy who has been particularly amazing with getting my daughter familiar with the dentist since she was a baby and looking after her growing smile! Thank you for everything!

Negative experience: I had an absolutely horrible experience With this dentist clinic after being with them for so long. I had a new dentist and her attitude wasn’t the best to begin with and the next appointment she booked me for, she wrote the wrong date on the appointment card so therefore I didn’t attend my appointment because she didn’t write the correct date on the appointment card so then I got a call saying I’m no longer abled to make appointments with that clinic even tho I explained myself about the dates being written wrong and they still said it’s my fault and I never got a refund back for missing the appointment which neared to £100. No call back or anything, honestly save yourself the trouble and don’t bother with this clinic.

Negative experience: Terrible surgery, terribly rude staff especially the receptionist and pressuring dentists that just want your money. I visited this clinic based on the reviews, however when I got there for a treatment I was pressured by the dentist to go for a private treatment, which I did not want to commit to immediately, until I had some thought. The dentist continued to pressure me saying it was an critical I get it done right away. I had to compromise and said I would book an appointment now, but should I change my mind I would cancel with advance notice. After some research I decided it was best to cancel, and the receptionist berated me for 'wasting people's time' and spoke to me in a disgusting manner, even though they had told me it would be okay to cancel with advance notice, which I did. Do not go here.

Negative experience: Dentists are very rude which is why I stopped going there years ago and now also my family will stop going. The practice manager doesnt bother to acknowledge your complaint and own up or apologise for their mistakes
Dear Ms Kalam, I am very sorry to hear that you have put such a negative review. Truth is that you have not been a patient at the clinic for over 8 years. With regards to mistakes and not going into details, falsely signing NHS exemptions and then claiming that the dentist has made a mistake is not truthful. NHS do carry out checks and penalise patients when they have falsely signed wrong declarations. We wish your family best of luck with your new dentist.

Negative experience: I walked away two weeks ago so happy that I had returned to Mary Louise. She made me feel comfortable, happy and I finally had a plan in place for my dental work. We booked a hygiene clean for today, however I woke up with a severe sore throat, and upon testing, Covid. I called teeth and smiles at 9.30am to say I really couldn’t attend a hygiene as my head is hurting whilst sitting up, and it would be physically impossible to have my mouth open for too long, due to the severity of my throat. He told me “no” that’s it… about rescheduling and I said that I would try and make it. The time came for me to leave for the appointment and my whole body was hurting, I knew I couldn’t physically make it an hours journey to Teeth and Smiles. I called again, and the person on the desk was extremely rude and said there is nothing they can do and they wouldn’t let me reschedule without charging me for the second time. I asked if they would have preferred me to come in and give them Covid, and her answer was basically saying that I should have. I’m so upset because I was so happy that I had finally found a dentist that I trust again in Mary Lou, but I can no longer come to this dentist again - because of the unkindness I experienced on the desk. For me being ill, I have now lost a dentist and £75 in a day, that I won’t be getting back. Really awful service that would rather me come and make them all ill.
We are really sorry to hear that at this time the Clinic failed your expectations and our customer service was below our standards. I shall ensure the reception staff get a refresher course on Customer Service.
However, having looked at your dental record history, it shows up that you have missed previous dental appointments totalling 60mins, not including the time from todays appoimtment.
Unfortunately, this wasted clinical time could be offered to patients who are in pain.
Please email the Principal dentist on [email protected] and we can offer you another appointment at a reduced cost.
