Negative experience: I went here today to see the hygienist, paid £80 plus an additional £25 for upgraded stain removal treatment, before leaving I booked and paid for a follow up. I have arrived at work a little while ago and looked in the mirror and pretty horrified that my teeth look exactly the same after paying £105. I called and said I want a refund for the appointment in 6 months, that I’m not happy to attend for follow up after the treatment today, they said they are not authorised to issue a refund and I have to wait for a callback to see if the manager will authorise it?! They can take my money but not give it back? Awful service.

Then the dentist fixed an unsightly blemish on my bonded tooth in the same appointment - no waiting to return! Efficient, timely and friendly. I recommend this dental practice.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient for years, now my little girl and I go together. They are very polite, and understanding, they call, text and email every 6month to remind you about your check up. My dentist is very nice and it’s so clean and modern in there.

Throughout, the communication about cost, the process, and timeline, was clear. More importantly, my expectations with the outcome were met and I couldn’t be happier with results. The receptionists were friendly and accommodating with appointments which contributed to making it a really positive experience. I would recommend this practice and in particular want to thank Richard for his attention to detail, gentle and approachable manner!

Fantastic experience: I am always very nervous about going to a hygienist but Stephanie and Sabina were brilliant at explaining the need to remove my extreme amount of tartar which was starting to cause periodontitis and lead ultimately to higher dental bills with the dentist. As soon as they knew I was fearful they were able to keep me calm and do a pain-free job with the use of local anaesthetic. I can honestly say that Stephanie did a great job on my teeth but also was so patient and understanding with scaredy-cat me. I realise now how needed the hygiene work had been, and actually I really don't mind going again now. Huge thanks!

Negative experience: I recently visited Acton Vale Dental Centre for a routine teeth cleaning by Stephanie Belfour, and unfortunately, the experience not what I expected from a professional. I share my experience in the hopes that improvements will be made in how patients are treated and to make other patients aware of the situation. During my appointment, the hygienist named Stephanie Balfour performed the cleaning. From the beginning, her attitude was noticeably rude and dismissive. She made a comment at the end of the treatment along the lines of “that was a lot of work, you will need to come again in 3 months for another treatment” in a tone that felt unprofessional and almost accusatory. Her bedside manner was severely lacking — there was no attempt to make me feel respected as a patient. Whilst she carried out the cleaning, she pulled at my lips in a rough, almost aggressive manner throughout the procedure. It didn’t seem like a necessary part of the treatment, it felt excessive and as if she was intentionally being rough. Throughout the cleaning, her demeanor remained brusque and cold. There was no basic courtesy or any explanation of what she was doing, no effort to check on my comfort, and her attitude gave the impression that I was a burden rather than a patient seeking care. This kind of interaction is not only unprofessional but also unacceptable in a healthcare setting where patients should feel safe and cared for. To make matters worse, after the cleaning was finished, I was left with debris on my face — water and splatter from the procedure. I was told to rinse. Another nurse in the room told me I can have a wipe to clean my face, but Stephanie ignored the comment although the wipes were beside her, she did not offer me anything to clean myself up. The nurse walked over to her side of the desk and passed me the wipe. This lack of basic hygiene consideration and courtesy was honestly shocking. Although I was happy with the result of the clean, I left the clinic feeling completely dissatisfied with the experience. A dental visit, especially something as routine as a cleaning, should not feel hostile or degrading. I believe every patient deserves to be treated with respect, care, and dignity — and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I am unsure what prejudice Stephanie had against me, however it was a treatment I had paid for so I should not have been treated as a burden. I hope Acton Vale Dental Centre takes this feedback seriously and provides Stephanie Belfour training on proper patient communication and professional conduct. Patients should not have to endure rude behavior or poor hygiene practices during their visit.

Fantastic experience: After the Covid lockdown periond and general lack of not going to the dentist my teeth and gum health had really detoriated. I have to say both my dentist Dr Sharm & hygenist Patricija have done an amazing job getting my teeth back on track, highly recommended.

Negative experience: I developed a gum infection due to your hygienist’s cleaning just one day before my holiday, which was then ruined by constant pain. When I returned, I booked an appointment and was still charged £60, despite the issue being caused by the initial treatment. I was prescribed antibiotics, which finally resolved the problem.

Negative experience: I had appointment with hygienist. It was 30 min appointment, he called me called me in 5min late snd finished 5min early .its mean he done 20min cleaning job . Not happy at all .surely that was my last visit and will never visit again

Fantastic experience: I’ve always been a bit afraid of going to the dentist and with age it’s gotten worse, until I found my dentist and hygienist at the surgery. Now I don’t feel scared or embarrassed. I book my appointments when I get my reminder. The kind, competent and compassionate approach have broken the pattern of many years of not going regularly. They have saved my teeth and taken away my anxiety.

Negative experience: Had an appointment for my son at 0845. Wasn’t happy at all with how quick the interaction was with my child’s dentist. He was sitted at the dental chair for only 5minutes, put some fluoride in his teeth and done without instructions on what to do about the flouride thing. Dentists at Acton Vale are not as caring really. They try to be as quick doing bare minimum. That one time when I was the patient, I had to come back because my composite filling wasn’t done well as the color didn’t match my teeth. And in that case when I came back few days later, the dentist was more careful in what he was doing. (Comparing experience from dentists in our home country who does the job well, builds rapport and trust with the patient.) This is a general observation of how the dentists are in this clinic. Receptionists are ok. Smiles a little.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of AVD for 7 years now and have been under the care of Omar and Steph for all that time. Omar’s settling and caring manor has made what could have been a very difficult journey a much easier one to navigate, and with the added expertise and encouragement from Steph who has cleaned and gleamed my teeth back to a healthy bright smile I couldn’t be happier! Together they have taught me, without judgement, a full and healthy process to looking after my teeth and gums, and we’ve had some laughs along the way. Negative experience: Second time hygienist visit, my first visit was great but the second time with a different hygienist not so. She was friendly and I was comfortable, but the whole session only took 15 minutes, I'd paid extra for the air flow polishing and when I questioned why it was all so quick I was told that my paying for that had made her job easier so no need to do more. It didn't feel like getting the best, whitest results was at all the priority. The rest of the session was spent with her trying to sell me cosmetic injectables, and it felt like that was more the focus and priority. Response to the below: that was exactly my point, over half the session was spent trying to sell me injections. Yes, I may have ticked that I was interested in hearing what else the surgery offered, that doesn't mean I was wanting to pay for the privilege of being part of your market research and being told what injections I should have. I came to have my teeth cleaned and whitened, in this I feel very failed.

Fantastic experience: Acton Vale Dentist is a great clinic. I’ve been a customer of their services for about 5 years. I had my regular hygiene sessions with Steph who taught me good habits of looking after my teeth As I regularly drink tea and coffee, my teeth get stained so I come every few months for an airflow treatment. I also come for a regular check in with Omar, did my Invisalign course under his supervision, and I am very pleased with the result. Overall, I highly recommend Acton Vale Dentist, you’d be looked after very well

Fantastic experience: Very high quality dental center. Have good system of appointments that allow you to give a deposit and then save appointment time. Very hygienic.

Negative experience: Had a hygienist appointment but only remembered at the time as I was ill with Sinusitis so completely forgot about it. I called and asked to rearrange for another day or even come later that day but said I will lose my deposit even though I am a regular client and had a genuine reason.

Fantastic experience: Had appointment with dental hygienist. Her warm and friendly approach helped keep me at ease while doing a very thorough job. I have a particular aversion to having my teeth descaled due to very sensitive gums (related to ASD). However they paced procedure well to minimise discomfort. As an additional tip for anyone with similar issues, using clove oil/eugenol dabbed over gumline prior with cotton buds helps reduce discomfort alot
