Negative experience: Asked to book a nhs check up which i was told to call up monday as theyre going to be closed on sunday. I hung up and then instantly get a call back asking for my details then told that I would be seen the Sunday. I hesitated and said im free for an appointment anytime before 12 as I work in the afternoon on sundays. Then book me in for 12:30. I couldn't understand the lady on the the phone as I struggle with very broken accents. She sounded short and snappy when I tried to clarify what was being said, After reading the reviews I dont feel like this is a place suitable for a mentally ill and vulnerable person as theres seems to be alot of pushy behaviour from just that first phone call alone. Sorry but honestly it didn't feel legit or safe for me in my opinion

Negative experience: Never had this at my old dentist but they will only do black for nhs filling Being in an obvious spot I had to spend £375 instead of the £70 so it would be white The whole place didn’t feel very welcoming either

Negative experience: Terrible! I went for a check up and within 2 mins I was told I need to fill a cavity that’s under my filling. I was then told the price, I went down to reception and I was told I need to book and pay there and then for the treatment. I felt it wasn’t hygienic there and I couldn’t understand anyone so I went elsewhere to seek another opinion. I was told at my new surgery that I do not need another filling, it’s normal to see a bit of shadowing on the x-ray. So they are total con artists only out for money.
Fantastic experience: This is a NHS and Private dentist. With NHS having so few slots. You have to go every 6 months to remain on the books, this is standard across the board. I have been 4 times and every time there has been no issues. I'm just grateful this place opens on a Sunday.
Negative experience: Have not been to a dentist for 10 years, my teeth have only caused me pain a couple of times throughout those years and just by pain I mean bearable and nothing major. I go here and I’m charged nearly £300 for a filling for two teeth and have to pay for another xray which I refused to do it with them. I only went a couple of days ago and I am in extreme pain on the whole left side of my mouth, I have ulcers all over my mouth also. Not only wasted a lot of money here already, I’ll have to go to another dentists (by the way there was no dentists when I went, the receptionist said only ‘therapists are working today’. When my dad overheard a conversation when I was getting my teeth looked at. Do not recommend. The extreme pain I’m in. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have it.

Negative experience: I’ve just been in to see a dentist and she told me she’s going on holiday in 2 weeks so could I book an appointment with the hygienist and she would do it. Also she wanted to do 2 fillings today. Tried charging me nearly £300. I only went in for a check up. Also she smelt like onion I will not be returning
Negative experience: The dentist I saw today was absolutely amazing but I was given a hygienist appointment without actually being told until after the treatment so I went for a checkup and then without being told that this was additional money I was given a hygienist appointment and then expected at the end to pay for it, even though I was never told this was an additional charge Also they do not offer white fillings on the NHS banding so today I have paid £180for one white filling which I feel is very, very extreme at the end of my appointment I was told to pay £180 plus £75 for the hygienist appointment. I had to kick a bit of a fuss and I did refuse to pay the £75 for the hygienist appointment as I was never told of the charge never made aware of it until the very end of the appointment when trying to leave please be aware of this With the filling my teeth look absolutely amazing but I do feel like £180 is very expensive for one filling. I thought it would be on the NHS banding but it’s not even though Overall the dentist I saw was very good and has done a very good job with my teeth. Just wasnt made aware of extra charges intill the very end… They try and spring upon you as I am only very young myself. I was a bit annoyed with this to be told that they expected £255 of me when I originally booked in for an NHS checkup appointment as I recently moved area The filling I have is not even at the back of my mouth either so I totally feel like the white filling should’ve been on the NHS band in charge and not privately charged as for £180 for one filling I would not be returning in case I need another filling I cannot afford this … overall I would say the dentist I saw was very good knew exactly what they were doing but did try and creep a lot of charges on me and the price for the filling even though it is clearly near the front of my mouth and very visible I thought if they were at the front, they were on the NHS clearly not. I am very upset with this as £180 to a young person is quite a lot of money and to also try and be charged for a hygienist appointment when I was never told what was going on how much it would cost I generally just thought they were doing a check up as it’s the first time I’ve been to the dentist

Negative experience: Awful dentist,does not even deserve one star.Ripping NHS off,they will be more than happy to take you on and you will be seen quickly and rebooked right away for six month check up,extra money for them,what they don't tell you is the people who see you are not fully qualified dentists.so should you need any treatment you have to wait for their very part time dentist who only comes one afternoon a weekend!I had my appointment cancelled and rearranged four times.Thankfully now i found a fantastic dentist in albion street,they have multiple dentists,fulltime,are fully qualified and within afew short weeks and multiple visits they sorted my teeth out.I know NHS dentists are limited,hence why southcliff get away with such a poor service,see reviews,but if you can find somewhere else to go please do and avoid this shambles like the plague.Add on,now it seems their even giving themselves positive fake reviews to up their score,see recent block of feedback,not atall suspicious!

Negative experience: This practice is an absolute shambles. I booked an appointment for the hygienist but soon realised I couldn’t make the appointment so asked for a refund as I wasn’t sure when I could reschedule. I was told by the receptionist that I will be emailed in regards to the refund. Two days later no email has been received so I called and asked what was going on. The same receptionist then told me I had to email them and they will get back to me. Fast forward nearly two weeks with 4 emails being sent not one response. I called up again to ask what was going on. I was then told that they have a new manager and they don’t know what the process is for a refund and they didn’t know when I would get refunded or even contacted about it! After being told that I contacted NHS England and was advised to raise a complaint with the Local ICB. I thought I’d give them one more chance to get it sorted before doing so. So I called back and explained that I would be raising a complaint if I am not given some helpful information today. I was told that the manger would call be back…. No manager ever called me. Complaint raised. This practice is an absolute shambles and wouldn’t trust them to run a bath let alone look after my teeth!

Negative experience: Avoid this dentist honestly awful, I had a deep clean and it was so painful she was very rough, I also told her I've been having pain with a tooth that has a filling and ignored me, then the next day my partner had an extraction by a male dentist that turned up with half is shirt open, put half the numbing injection in her mouth cos he missed and didn't even check to see if it was numb before he pulled the tooth, this was a month or 2 ago and the swelling inside has only just come down
Negative experience: Finally lost patience with this place. After an initial appointment in November 2024, I have had a series of appointments cancelled & rebooked to see a dentist, 6 months I’ve been waiting & still yet to be seen. Every time you call expect to be on hold for at least 30 minutes, or cut off entirely. The worst service I have ever encountered. Don’t waste your time or money here

Negative experience: When an initial patient with this dentist, they were great but it very quickly went downhill today being the final straw. After ignoring me for a year and being told conflicting information, they finally call to tell me I have a check up, when I had been told last year that I had been removed from their books due to 2 absences, with no previous conversation, warning or mention. I have proof that I had informed them of my absences (first due to covid, second due to house flooding) and had requested rescheduling, to which I had been ignored. I had no idea that they had even recorded them as 'failure to attend', I'm to be reprimanded for having covid and for my house flooding, two things that are out of my control? I had also been sold a teeth cleaning service which cost me £70 (I am on disability and UC so that is a large amount of money) and although I understand I could have said no, the nurse was insistent and I was under the impression that it was in good faith. I never received that service and when I requested a refund I was told no for no reason, then told I wasn't allowed to the practice again, was given an email address to take it up with higher ups, I was ignored, even though I sent photo's, screenshots and alike to show that I wasn't lying. It has now been a year. They now call me up out of the blue and when I ask about my refund I am told 'you can't get one cos the transaction has gone through'.... I was never told that it was a non-refundable service. I now have a new dentist and they have had to redo my teeth due to a poor job done at South Cliff Dental. I understand that the new manager has been brought on and that this isn't their fault, and that the nurses and dentists I did see way back when were genuinely lovely, but it is a shame to see this place turn out how it has and I am very frustrated and disappointed. The higher ups need to seriously rethink and do better, as their staff are left with the brunt and they don't deserve it.
Negative experience: Very little information given on procedure done by the dentist. Filling was not done properly. Was not told how long to wait to drink/eat after procedure.

My nerves were immediately but at rest by a welcoming and friendly reception team who helped me with registration and an appointment. I came in to book an appointment to have it redone however the dentist kindly did it for me there and then. Phone lines are hard to get through that is the only downside.

Fantastic experience: Not only does this dentist practise take NHS patients, but I am so impressed with the treatment I have had here. I am treated with respect, and time is taken to explain things to me. I have been offered treatment on NHS that has really helped my sensitive teeth, which for some reason, I wasn't offered with my previous dentist. My sons are autistic and the dentist is happy to take the time to explain procedures to them and to rebook the treatment for a later date, which has made the difference between him allowing the treatment or not. I don't find I need to explain the basics of their needs to the dentist, he seems to already understand. We also manage to book appointments in quickly without having to wait months for availability. The building itself is small and can feel a little cramped, but the treatment we have received more than makes up for this.

I'll be honest, it can be hard to get through on the phone sometimes, but at the actual appointments I've always had good service. Hygienist has been a great help with advice on at home care, and both dentists I've seen always very friendly. Never had any issues with the work either. I've had fillings and extractions over the years

Drisya, in particular provided me with an excellent filling for a feactured tooth and then made some time available the to do also give me minor fillings for some small gaps on some of my front teeth. Positive experience: Was slightly put off by bad reviews, but I had a great experience with South Cliff. I struggled to contact them by phone, so I went in-person to arrange an appointment and managed to get one for the next day. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and gave me a range of time options. I showed up early for my appointment as there was some paperwork to do and we started right on time. The dentist was gentle yet professional, she didn’t try to sell me any products or services and gave me an honest opinion on my teeth. I returned two days later for a hygienist appointment, also very easy to book, with the same dentist. She was very thorough, walking me through the process and letting me take breaks from discomfort. I only docked one star as part way through, the dentist’s assistant left and was replaced by the receptionist’s assistant, which I found really odd as she needed instruction from the dentist and didn’t really know what she was doing. Overall, I had a very good experience with this practice and thank them for their efficiency and professionalism. If you can make the journey to book an appointment in-person, it is worth it as the phone hardly ever connects.
