Fantastic experience: I was recently dreading my visit back here, not because of my dentist she's amazing and consistent but my previous dental hygienist visits had been a little insensitive and very roughly handled - the approach for a nervous client was missed. I came back today and Madhu was exceptional, patient, to the point and listened through my concerns. If management are reading this I already had positive experiences with the dentist, but I would appreciate the positive feedback being noted to for Madhu as her professionalism was exceptional and has changed my mind about never seeing a dental hygienist again to actively respecting the need to return for my next appointment!

Fantastic experience: In my long life I have experienced many different dentists with different approaches. This surgery is absolutely remarkable in excellence. Every attempt is made to keep the existing teeth with state of the art equipment and advanced highly trained professional expertise. I’ve experienced an extensive variety of treatment; my teeth are definitely challenging but every time has been painless and produced excellent results. I have even had my teeth straightened (at an advanced age so not easy) and had implants and I am delighted with what he has achieved. I am a patient of Dr. Dhami whose skill and patience and commitment is remarkable. This surgery is honestly the Best.

My fear of undergoing the treatment I needed had made me very nervous, but how faultlessly professional, efficient and successful the treatment I received from Dr Dhami, put me entirely at ease from the very first appointment, as did how friendly the receptions I got from the team there. Fantastic experience: I went in yesterday to sign up for the practice as I’ve recently moved to Oxford. My Labrador destroyed my denture and I was very conscious of the way I looked as I am a front line end of life carer. I was initially told I’d have to wait for eight weeks to be seen which distressed me. I was then seen by one of the staff called Princess who was absolutely incredible. After explaining my circumstances she arranged an appointment for the following day. I attended my appointment today and after being advised it could take a month for my denture to be made, they have explained that it could arrive by Tuesday next week or Friday at the latest. It is my grandsons first birthday on Saturday and I can now hopefully smile with my new denture. Thank you Princess you are an absolute star and thank you to my dentist Ivelena and her assistant. You are all amazing and thank you for making my day. More importantly thank you for allowing me to look forward to my grandsons first birthday party. Xxx

Fantastic experience: I needed a crown fitting, which took two appointments. Vinay Raniga and nurse Courtney were excellent throughout: professional, efficient, and friendly. They (almost) managed to make visiting the dentist enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I went to Sonia last week for my 6 monthly checkup and I can’t praise her highly enough. I have been a patient at 2 different practices during the last 12 years and I can honestly say it is the first time I feel I have been to a dentist (since my dentist 12 years ago) who cares about me and my teeth. Sonia did a thorough examination, recommended further treatments, spend time carefully explaining the reasons for the treatments as well as gave me options on ways to carry them out without making me feel under any pressure to have it done. Positive experience: I recently had a number of veneers done by Jay, and I can't thank him enough for all the care he took and for the final result. He discussed every part of the process and took great pains to match the colour and shape to achieve a set of natural looking teeth. I finally have a smile of which I can be proud. Thank you Jay!

Fantastic experience: I went to Vinay Raniga for three replacement fillings - this took two visits, one 45 minutes and the other shorter. I hope he won't take offence if i say that this was not something I was looking forward to - although i was happy that it needed to be done. But i need not have worried - he was really helpful, kind, cheerful etc as well as skilled. I was very grateful for his craft and care - as well as the way his assistant (and I did not catch her name) helped. I came away very happy with the outcome and experiencing far less discomfort or side effects than I had feared. Skill, care, and professionalism - exactly as needed!

Fantastic experience: I came to Vinay with a major set of issues which had given me great concerns. Vinay did an absolutely superb job in sorting out all my issues. He showed immense care and professionalism I could not have asked for more.

Negative experience: I came for a checkup, somehow out of the blue the focus of the appointment was about getting an impression done for a random free mouth guard on the NHS. I felt that the checkup was not thoroughly done, the focal point of the “checkup” was getting this mouth guard which I never asked for but I felt pressured to accept it on the spot. Overall I am disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Recently had a bridge fitted with Dr Dhami. Both him & his nurse worked very efficiently to ensure my appointment went smoothly. Over all very pleased with the outcome of my treatment. I couldn’t fault it! EXCELLENT practice.

Negative experience: Went to get a splint inserted on my tooth that was loose and shaking. Was charged £75 plus £25 for the emergency appointment only for the splint to come off within the 24hrs of being inserted ‍♂️ Avoid dental practice at all cost! Not happy with my experience.

Negative experience: Really gone down hill. Been with the practice for 15 years but in last couple of years i have experienced inconsistent and poor dental treatment. I found additional costs added to my nhs treatment which I had not agreed to, no nhs treatment plan given, practice manager did not reply to calls or emails, the same thing happened again. I would stay clear of this practice.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Summertown Dental over the past 10 years - and found it to be a very well run practice, which provides an excellent dental service - they are extremely skilled at what they do and also carry out their work in a friendly and caring manner. All of my family now attend the practice, as they are in my view the best in the area.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had an accident and chipped her two front teeth which was very distressing. I would just like to say how amazing Dr Vinay Raniga and Elio were with my daughter.They worked through their lunch break to help sort my daughter’s teeth out. She gets very anxious in general with injections etc and was very upset, which was quite stressful. Dr Raniga was absolutely fantastic with her, very kind and patient, they did a fantastic job on her teeth and I can’t thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: I have never been disappointed with my hygienist, Sylvia. She always takes the time to explain how to improve my dental care and gum health. She is delicate and very professional—one of the best I've ever had!

Negative experience: This business is a joke. They took almost £200 off me for a scan and said the dentist would examine and come back to me. 3 months later I’ve heard nothing and despite leaving messages have never been contacted back. I want to demand my money back but as they never even answer the phone I can’t do that. Don’t go here

Negative experience: Shocking, avoid! This practice has serious issues. I attended today for nerve pain and a filling has fallen out but was told that I had to come back (ok, that’s fine) but the next appointment for this is in two and a half months!! I specifically asked if this was right, as I am in pain and was told yes. My husband has recently left this dentist after being similarly poorly cared for. Looks like I’ll be going too! Absolutely appalling standards of care.

Fantastic experience: My wife visited Sylvia the Hygienist today; the treatment provided was exceptional. Sylvia did a hand clean and was very thorough. She gave lots of advice and tips on general care that can be done at home. My wife has now decided to visit every 3 months!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at this practice all my life (I am 60). Always had great NHS service. Recently I have had extensive private treatment from James. After many hours in his surgery, I now have a new smile with no metal crowns. I am proud to smile more

Fantastic experience: The treatment i have received recently from my hygienist Sylwia has been exceptional. She is always friendly, smiling and encouraging. She is extremely knowledgeable about all areas of dental and oral hygiene and makes new suggestions every time about things I can do at home. .

Negative experience: Everytime I ring they never awnser. On hold cuts out after 6 mins so have to start over although never makes a difference as they never awnser. Left voicemails but they never get back to me. Because of this I missed my appointment, they then blocked me and got asked to email over to speak to the admin. Just been ignored. So just a bad place. Rude dentist and small room with no parking. Wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience: Awful service. Waited 40 minutes for my appointment only for the dentist (Dr Shalini) to tell me that she does not know why I have tooth sensitivity. Did not explain possible causes or management clearly and was not thorough in her examination. I was left very confused after the check-up. Waited another 20 minutes after this appointment for scale and polish only to be told that they had actually not booked me in. The only doctor worth seeing is Dr Dhami at this practice.

Negative experience: I have just been told to leave the practice after more than 20.years there with no notice or pre warning. I have a real fear of dentists which occasionally comes to me not making the appointment, I suffer lots of anxiety and angst about it which is known to them. Recently I arrived for an appointment, I live 2 buses away, and was told my appt was cancelled due to sickness. I did not complain about that. I feel warning should have been given, particularly as they know my fears. Now need an extraction and have no dentist. I feel this is unfair and at least notice should have been given. Very poor customer service . Very upset and disappointed to be treated like this. An answer to your reply! Can't seem to answer back??? You have other 1 star reviews you have not replied to? Wondering why just me? Anyway it's actually 30 years I've been with you so that makes it 1 hour per decade I've missed!! Just thought with my anxieties it would have been the decent thing to do to try to help me with this. It seems emailing doesn't change anything , from other reviews here, so I will say Goodbye, it seems you only want good reviews, either that or I've touched a nerve!

Negative experience: I used to be a very happy patient here for years. Recently, since my dentist left, I have experienced a few difficulties. Saw two dentists since January and had extensive communication with the practice manager. Problems experienced: rushed checkup and unprofessional service during the checkup and filling (e.g., tasking me to hold the water pipe in my mouth while my tooth was being drilled, putting on me very dirty goggles, etc), two dentists not agreeing which tooth required filling, extremely money-orientated approach (one of the dentists told me I would need to pay £500 for a private filling of one tooth since it covered two areas), the extensive communication with the practice manager which ended up being time-consuming and ineffective. The practice manager did not even apologise for all the time I wasted and the poor service received.

Negative experience: Tried to charge a NHS patient the private treatment price. Offered toilet tissue to stop bleeding whilst waiting to see the dentist. The practice manager never returns calls. A dishonest way of dealing with patients.

Fantastic experience: I had two implants with Dr Dhami. At first, I was worried about how the process would be. He explained all the procedures and sent me more details by email. During the procedure, he noticed I was a bit anxious, and he took his time to explain everything he was doing. That was very reassuring. I am so pleased, and I can now smile big again! Fantastic experience: James (my dentist) and Sylvia (my hygenist) have given me the best dental care I've ever recieved - up and down the country. Unbeknownst to me, I had developed a case of periodontal disease. My gums bled quite badly when flossing and my mouth was quite sensitive, generally. James picked this up and Sylvia cleaned my teeth like no other hygenist had. Yes, it hurt, but it was necessary. The health of my teeth and gums are the best they've been in over a decade. I'm extremely grateful for their work and will continue to recommend people to Summertown Dental.

Fantastic experience: Chuffed to bits. needing a bit of work done on my teeth. Dr vinay raniga & azada were specaticular. Having previously had two front fillings which when previously done was left tidy but obvious they have redone these and look good as new. I wasn't expecting the transformation. Fantastic experience: Summertown Dental has a welcoming environment, and it’s a fantastic practice. From receptionists to dentists, you receive first-class service. The entire team is super friendly and outstanding professionals. Dr Dhami is an excellent, friendly, patient, understanding and professional dentist who is always guided by his experience and inner knowledge. He pushes for the best results for me, even if this means more work for him - never compromises on a quick-fix solution and always makes one feel welcome. He did a fantastic job with my dental implants! I’m also thrilled with the results of all my treatments and feel confident every time I visit the practice. Negative experience: Started the Invisalign process with Dr Dhami at the start of this year. He was informed I will be moving and he insured my I can continue my treatment online. However the practice has not only caused me distress but scammed my through and throughout. The practice has left me without my aligners for nearly two months. The communication has been atrocious considering how much I am paying. I practically had to beg them to send me my retainers and over 6 weeks later I still don’t have them. My teeth have now started to move which is just leading to more problems. When asked the practice to transfer my case onto another dentist they refusing to do that too and not addressing my requests. Absolutely would not recommend, the communication was non existent from Anna and it’s been a scam. Would give zero stars if google let me.

Positive experience: Had a good experience getting my Invisalign here! I am very happy with the outcome. Practice staff are warm and welcome, it makes a big difference to have consistency of care!

Negative experience: In terms of getting an appointment (if you can actually get the reception team to answer the phone). The actual dentist team are good. I was able to get an appointment as an emergency within a week. You will always be at least 30 minutes late into your appointment. However, the reception staff are unbelievably rude. I have no doubt they are busy, but my goodness the way they treat and speak to patients is disgraceful. It was really, really sad to see on my last visit a woman bringing her very frail, elderly mother in a wheelchair. The practice is an old house, but with support from staff there is disabled access. Unfortunately the poor lady was left waiting at reception for their help for ages whole there were three members of staff stood talking (chit chat, not work related as I could hear everything) ignoring her. In the end another patient and I stood up to help the lady get her poor mother in. It was absolutely disgraceful. The staff were incredibly rude and made the lady to feel like a massive nuisance. I reassured her when she sat down not to take it personally, as they were like that with most patients. It so happened that they were having a particularly difficult time personally, no doubt made worse by the disgusting treatment of the staff member and her audible sigh at her confirming her arrival. In fact, they were so engrossed in conversation they hadn't even noticed that she was bringing her mother in. Numerous times I have called, they answer and put the phone down. It can take an extremely long time for the phone to be answered. Sadly this place has gone down hill massively over the last 5 years. They are unhelpful, impatient and incredibly rude. This is as an NHS patient. I imagine this is not the treatment you get as a private patient. If there weren't such a massive shortage of NHS dentists we would move in a heartbeat. I would never normally write such a negative review, but I was so shocked by the behaviour of the reception staff towards patients, particularly such a vulnerable one, that I don't know what else to do. Attempting to contact the practice is virtually impossible.

Fantastic experience: My appointments have been with Dr Vinay Raniga and Niki and I've had a crown put in place and two fillings. I've had a wonderful experience and both have been supper supportive. I tend to be quite nervous and I appreciate all the help they've provided. Their services are great and I would highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: I had a very quick appointment time after chipping my front tooth at the weekend. I got in and Dr Raniea was just fantastic. My phobia of the dentist which I’ve had for years and years were gone in an instant. He was patient, kind, reassuring and carried out the work to suck a hight standard, so much so you can’t even tell the difference from filling to actual tooth and being my front one this was so important to me! So thank you Dr Raniea!

Negative experience: Been going to this dentist for a few years and it’s probably one of the worst I’ve been too (and I’ve gone to dentists on a student campus) my appointments get regularly cancelled with 25 hours notice and my appointments are always late. What a waste of time and money.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful. If I could give zero stars I would. On 6 occasions I had appointments cancelled on the day of the appointment. I have emailed the surgery and never had replies I had attended this dental surgery to have to have a new set of dentures made on the NHS. Impressions were taken and eventually came back (I can't blame the surgery for the delays caused by Newbury Dental Labs). I finally went back to have the top dentures adjusted prior to the final set being made. As I was leaving the surgery I was asked for a payment of some £700.00. I explained that this was wrong as it was an NHS appointment. At that point I discovered that the dentist had put them through a private. I duly went back to have new impressions made. Eventually I went back and saw the same dentist who told me that he'd only made a bottom set and not a top set. I spoke to the practice manager who assured me that she would investigate what had happened, three weeks later and because I had heard nothing I called the surgery to request a copy of the complaints procedure (which ALL surgery who offer NHS services are required to have). Suprise suprise, I was told by the reception that they didn't know where this was. I am sure if you are a private patient you'll be treated well and get the service you'd expect, but as an NHS patient I would recommend that you avoid at all costs I will be following this up, following the correct procedure laid down by NHS England. As a side note, I really am scared of dentists and explained this when I registered, they assured me that I would be ok, this whole experience has really set me back ☹️

Fantastic experience: I can completely recommend Dr Dhami and his skills in dental implant surgery. I have had two dental implants placed by by Dr Dhami over the last five years. The treatment has been impressive and faultless. Friendly, efficient and very thorough care - Thankyou!!

Negative experience: Extremely bad experience at this clinic. I've had my tooth messed up (which I had to get extracted privately as the damange was irreversible), charged way too much by the hygenist who spend 90% of the time talking. And then I was booked for an appointment (for which I had to wait more than 2 months for) only to be told that they had booked me in for a completely different time that I wasnt available at.

Negative experience: Really very very poor, was good but so many different dentist’s now because all leaving. nobody knows what’s going on. I have never known a dentist like this place. Find another is my advice.

Fantastic experience: We have been going here for years but our youngest son was terrified of the dentist and on his first few trips he wouldn’t even open his mouth. Dr Vinay however was extremely kind and put both children at ease immediately so we had no more problems. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: My dentist made assumptions about my teeth without doing a full investigation. He was patronising and offensive. I complained to the practice and my complaint was ignored. I deregistered myself. I should have done so years ago.

Fantastic experience: I'm sorry I didn't review earlier - (I couldn't work out how to do it on google.) I recently had an implant with Doctor Dhami that was quite complicated and needed a lot of visits and he was fantastic. I would highly recommend him. This is a much better implant than an earlier one I had with a more expensive dentist. I felt that much more care taken. I'm so glad I changed dentists a few years ago.

Fantastic experience: I'm really pleased with the replacement filling that Dr Laura De Souza gave me, finding and removing the decay that a previous dentist had missed which resulted in their filling failing twice. Friendly and obviously highly knowledgeable, she operated expertly and carefully, explaining the procedure beforehand and as she went along. I highly recommend her.

Negative experience: Abysmal admin. Never call you back if you leave messages. Have to literally pitch up in person to get a response to your query. Even then, communication within their team is so bad that despite promises you will receive a call, you are still not contacted. Dentist made a specialist referral last October. Referral declined but as the patient I was not notified and had to chase this myself, else, I can reasonably presume, I would still be no wiser several months on….No follow up or plan offered in the face of a referral being declined. Avoid this practice at all costs. Worst patient care I’ve ever encountered.

Negative experience: Very dangerous "accessibility ramp" and they were extremely rude. They ignored me while other patients had to help me get outside in my wheelchair. I could have been badly injured if not for these kind strangers, how dare they advertise specifically as wheelchair friendly? Also obviously trying to get as much money as possible. Did the bare minimum and tried to get me to come back for more.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Dr Dhami for his patience during my ongoing treatment from Invisalign to teeth whitening and now waiting on four veneers. I am very pleased with all the treatment so far and cannot believe I didn’t have the work done earlier as it’s such an improvement. What a great team of staff always very welcoming and friendly especially Anna, the Manager, who provides a first class service and has been on my journey with me every step of the way. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first time to be treated by hygienist Syliva - the best experience I’ve had -probably ever. I find her tender, calm, firm, knowledgeable, and highly professional. Much impressed.

Fantastic experience: I've been using SummerTown Dental for over 15 years now and I really rate them as excellent. My dentist always takes the time needed to properly look after my teeth. The hygienist also always does a thorough job. I've recently had a free Invisalign consultation - it was great to see what could be done. I will definitely be continuing my treatments here.

Negative experience: Waited 2 months for a treatment after initial check up. It got postponed once. Arrived on rescheduled time making adjustments at work, to find out that a dentist is running longer than an hour late. Left. Will never come back.

Fantastic experience: I've been to the Summertown dental practice for over 30 years and have always found them to be very professional, whether it be arranging an appointment, check-up, teeth cleaning or treatment. I recently had a painful tooth and they were able to arrange an appointment within 2 days.

Fantastic experience: Had a checkup and filling here with Dr Raniga and he was really excellent. I’m quite anxious about the dentist but he handled it amazingly and made the experience easy. The filling looks great :)

Negative experience: Probably the worst dental practice I came across. Everything started with hygienist, who was a heavy smoker(?!) (imagine the smell at close proximity!), and only managed to remove around 40% of the plaque. I was still charged £86. I was then offered a free visit with other hygienist after making a complaint. Dental check up appointment was late by one hour on the same day. I then was offered a treatment appointment nearly two months after. 10 days prior I received a call saying that my appointment is now postponed by 1 month because the dentist “does not work Thursdays anymore”(?!). I then asked if I could reschedule it earlier with any other dentist in the practice, to which the answer was no - you will have to pay another check up charge and probably wait another 2-3 months. I then showed up on time for my treatment app after waiting longer than two months for it to find out that the dentist is running late “possibly longer than one hour” (?!). After making arrangements at work and allocating a time slot for dental appointment, I obviously couldn’t wait for unlimited time. Therefore, I asked for a check up refund intending to never set my foot in this practice again. The receptionist refused to issue a refund as it is “NHS charge”, although that 5min check up will be no use at all, as I will have to go through this again (and pay check up fee) somewhere else. Avoid at all costs!

Fantastic experience: I had my routine check up appointment booked in. 2 days before my appointment my filling had come out, causing extreme sensitive feeling and uncomfortable 2 days. I was met by friendly receptionist who then took me to meet Dr Vinay Raniga who also was very friendly. I have to say I was feeling very anxious about my appointment, however Vinay was excellent! I did not feel any pain at all! when he said all finished, I was left in amazement that I felt no pain whatsoever. Thank you once again Vinay for making my experience trouble-free.

Fantastic experience: Vinay and Nicky extracted a wisdom tooth that had a painful abscess. They were solicitous and efficient throughout, providing the highest service. I was impressed to get an emergency appointment the day after calling in to have my tooth examined.

Negative experience: Rubbish Dental Practice - Expect you to wait 70 days for a Check-up ! NO POINT for registering with them as new NHS patient because you will never get seen and they don’t care ! !!! Waited 30 days for 1st appointment and then cancelled without telling you. Then the next appointment will be after 40 days ( God knows it may get cancelled again. ) ! Basically they Cancelled my two children’s appointments without contacting us , no emails or phone calls or letters at all ( And Yes, they managed to Cancel both appointments for my two children ) . We waited a month for the 1st appointments and showed up on time like a Fool !!! Specifically took half day off from School to come for the appointments and now school listed them as unauthorised leave ! The receptionists don’t care and not helpful at all . Their attitude = just want you to be gone and leave the door asap ! Rescheduled the appointments for another 45 days ! How Ridiculous is that ! Told me Lies that they would give me a call back and I am Still waiting for the “ Practice Manager” ‘s response to my emails , he/she probably gone missing as there is no replies from them at all . This dental practice is such a waste of time and don’t bother to use them at all .

Negative experience: This practice is let down by the poor administration. I have had several appointments cancelled, and not informed of the cancellation after having taken a day off work and traveled a long way for the appointment. On another occasion, the clerical staff also erroneously booked half of the appropriate appointment time. Each time, the staff exhibited little empathy at the inconvenience resultant from their error, and made very little effort to make it right.

Fantastic experience: Sylvia the Dental hygienist is amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Also gives you all the details on how to brush your teeth properly. Highly recommend the whole surgery and her in particular.

Fantastic experience: Dr Layla (Hygienist) is absolutely lovely and she took the time to make sure that I understood how to look after my teeth. The results themselves are fantastic and I'm very happy. I highly recommend Layla! :) I think the practice needs to invest more on the equipment (dentist spit sink). Don’t like to gargle on a cone!

Fantastic experience: I have been at this practice for 5 years now. All the staff are friendly and provide a high standard of service. I am currently going through a dental implant and Satinder has been brilliant. A+

Fantastic experience: This is a great dentist - they are busy, but you can normally be seen fairly quickly. Everyone is really nice and explains things and they also still take NHS patients, the only one in Oxford who do, which I really appreciate. You can park your bike right outside, or there is free car parking on the surrounding streets but do check the signs and one-ways etc

Fantastic experience: I have just finished my invisalign treatment with Summertown Dental and I am very happy with the results. I am also in the middle of the whitening treatment which I can't believe I never did before! It's so good! Thank you to all the staff who made my appointments as easy as possible.
