Fantastic experience: Philip Hannon is probably the best NHS Dentist I've had. The setting is within Atkinson Dental practice which is a friendly and welcoming environment. Mr Hannon is highly professional and gives clear and concise dialogue on dental health and procedures. I have recommended him to a number of people and all my family are patients.

Negative experience: No regard at all for NHS patients. My son had a lovely dentist and was treated well during his childhood years but not they are not interested. Private or nothing.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this practice for over thirty years. Over that time, I've had a few issues but was always able to amicably resolve them. But I now have a lovely young dentist called Adam and he's brilliant! My son now goes to Adam too and finds him as approachable, professional and friendly as I do. The ladies on reception always give me a warm welcome, so I'm very happy to recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Having had some bad experiences as a young child at the dentist's (including gas-induced anesthetic) , I have, for most of my life, felt very nervous about visits there. No longer!... In recent years I have been seeing Dr. Hannon at the Atkinson clinic in Jesmond. He has a wonderfully calming and reassuring manner, and always informs you of each stage of the (practically painless) process. I wouldn't say I "love" going to the dentist's, but now I always come out feeding happy and reassured in the knowledge that my teeth are in the best shape possible. Oh, and the service is quick and efficient: the staff always try to accommodate you in the best way possible, to suit your situation.

Fantastic experience: Been a patient at this dentist for many years and have always had the best service. These past couple of months I've had a few dental issues ranging from a fixed retainer breaking to pericoronitis. Both times I've been given same day emergency appointments and both Phillip and Karla are fantastic. They listen to you and your concerns and give you the best treatment advice. I see Phillip for my check ups and he also made me more comfortable when my retainer broke. I seen karla this week for a very painful bout of pericoronitis and both her and the dental nurse were attentive and i was in and out in 15 with a course of antibiotics. They are all also amazing when you take your children ans take the time to talk to them.

Fantastic experience: I've used Atkinson dental practise for many years, looked after by Michael Atkinson, who recently and deservedly, retired. A somewhat worrying change for a long-term client. I need not have worried since Karla took over the reins. She and the whole team (and it is a true team effort) provide a truly exceptional and highly professional service, always with a smile and cheery attitude. An unreserved 5 star recommendation.

The staff are so warm and welcoming making me feel at ease, always a smile on their faces. My last appointment with dentist Lauren and her dental nurse Abbie went very well, they took their time to explain my treatment and other potential options and it really felt like they listened to me and my worries. Now I feel less anxious coming because I know they take good care of me upon entering and leaving the practice. I’ve highly recommended to friends and family :)

Fantastic experience: As usual this was another successful visit. We luckily got a parking permit and a space straight away, the team were very friendly, and the newly refurbished waiting area is nice and bright. Philip is great and always makes you feel at ease during your check up.

Negative experience: A disgrace of a practice where the reception staff treat you as though you are worthless and speak to you with disregard … I was told to email to lodge a complaint . The practice manager is a Karen like figure who didn’t like to hear some home truths about the practice going downhill and being a corporate money making machine .. instead of a simple appointment I am being asked to attend a treatment plan ? Money … then an appointment . When I said I could have written a bad review the equally toxic practice manager said ‘why don’t you go to another dentist ‘. A disgraceful practice that I will happily to take to ombudsman’s service .. avoid avoid avoid … they may write some cover story but I have witnesses and her on record saying go somewhere else . When I mentioned diversity .. she laughed … tells you everything..soon as Mr Atkinson sold his soul to Portman it’s been downhill ever since … don’t entertain them .. they don’t care about anything but money !!!

Positive experience: Simon and the reception staff have always made me feel like an individual who know and care about me and my teeth.- well, they see me often enough. I feel welcomed at the practice My only gripe is having to pay for the PPE. I pay denplan monthly and continued to do so during lockdown; as GP, I could have provided PPE including level 3 so I do not agree with the fee - but I understand this has come from a higher management level decision.

Negative experience: I attend there to have a simple filling. Dentist proposed to fill another teeth first, after series of x-ray I end up with around £400 for a teeth that I had no problem with but now, I can not eat with it and I can not floss. Do not recommend the center. I choose this practice just based on the review but it wasn't a good experience for me at all.
