Negative experience: Reception/admin staff always friendly and calls answered promptly. Tatiana is one of the most kindest and knowledgeable hygienist I have ever met but not enough to retain me as as a patient. My issue is with the hygiene. Dental associate was clad in diamond rings that where not removed prior to my examination. Strong enough to tear a glove and strong enough to lacerate my skin. Much is known on bacteria in stones. The dental nurses I have seen during my visits are never bare below the belows nor hair tied back. All are upmost basics of infection prevention and control. Such measure may not apply to dental practices, but this does not instill much confidence into the health and wellbeing of patients. Lastly, I appreciate the need for flexible working to retain staff but to leave whole days completely unrostered without hygienist cover as a private practice does not provide resilience for retention of customers. I have now changed to another practice who have, to date, much more stringent IPC measures, better opening hours, better rota resiliance and much better prices.

Fantastic experience: Excellent and highly skilled dentist (i see Dr Opperman, my wife sees Dr Thinus Oelofse) My family and i have been receiving dental care from Hockerill Dental for several years. Both the skill and the care delivered are exceptional. As I'm over 65 I've now had fillings, crowns, and dental implants and not only do they all "work" flawlessly, but, whilst not a controlled experiment, my experience appears to have been much less painful and less fraught than my friends having similar work done.

Fantastic experience: Earlier this week, I needed an emergency appointment and they managed to see me straightaway. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly reception staff. I was really nervous about this appointment but the dentist Dr Shiv really helped to calm my nerves by taking the time to explain to me what the problem was and how it would be resolved. He was patient throughout the procedure and constantly checking that I was feeling ok. All the dental work I had done was to a high standard with no pain at all. Dr Shiv is a credit to the practice and I cannot thank him enough. I highly recommend this dental practice to everybody!

Fantastic experience: Best dental clinic!! And I absolutely hate to go to do my teeth, I have anxiety just to think I have to go. But teeth are a key ingredient of the whole body. My dentist H J Opperman, explains everything he is going to do, he makes me feel like in his hand nothing bad is going to happen and he is really going to take care of me so I don’t suffer. Every time I have something done I think is going to hurt like hell, during and after, nothing, no pain. They are just amazing all of them, secretaries try their best to help you with anything you need, appointments, medication, questions; hygienist also are great. Thank you so much for helping me pass my absolutely fear of dentist, I don’t know what I would do with out you.

Negative experience: Completely destroyed my self-esteem. I asked for teeth whitening. Came away from the in-person consultation an absolute wreck. Was told I had chipped teeth (domestic violence) and that I had horrible teeth because of I grind them (he said I ruined my own teeth by trying to give myself good ‘face muscles’) To be clear I have super straight teeth (it’s often commented on) and I have some staining as a result of black coffee and red wine. Left in tears.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend this dentist enough. I called them three days before Christmas in absolute agony with a fractured tooth and even though I was not a patient they saw me the same day and sorted me out. The receptionists were super helpful and kind and the dentist who did my extraction was amazing, didn’t feel the numbing injection and the tooth was out quickly and efficiently. I have since been back and have a treatment plan. Such kind dentists, nothing was too much trouble.

Fantastic experience: I'm a massive dental phobe. Well, I should really say, I was a massive dental phobe. Hockerill dentists are absolutely incredible. Mr. Opperman and his lovely nurses have taken time to release the fear I've had all my life. He is gentle, informative, patient, has great skill and I've just got back from having a replacement filling. It was easy. I used to get anxious as soon as I made an appointment! For this appointment I was only anxious 12 hours before. My next appointment will have no anxiety added to it & I'll jump in the chair!!! Thank you to the whole team at Hockerill dentists. I'm proud of you and myself. If you have a dental phonia don't hesitate to book an appointment here. You'll be glad you did.

She discovered and explained problems with my teeth and gums which my previous dentist hadn't. Negative experience: Bad experience(s) at this surgery, I've now left to another surgery and the difference is outstanding. I had two fillings here that caused me more pain for 3 months after than I had before having the fillings done. I had to go back 5 separate times to be told "it was deeper than initially realised". I've now had to pay for another check up elsewhere so have wasted so much time on money and didn't even get the problem fixed. I also found the hygienist here rushed, I timed my appointment and it was well under what I paid for. I'd avoid here at all costs, there are much better/efficient surgeries nearby.

Fantastic experience: OUTSTANDING!!!!!! I can't find words to thank this clinic enough for what they've done for us! We looked for help for 2 days trying to arrange something for my mum. We booked in to Hockerill and it quickly appeared that it wasn't gonna be a quick visit but a time consuming procedure. They made every effort and made all the arrangements to be able to book my mum in first thing in the morning - and they didn't have to do this at all! They been extremely extremely helpful and we really felt it was genuine! My mum was treated with such a care and professionalism I can't praise them enough!! Everyone was so lovely, so helpful, so carrying they literally saved the day and brought the smile back on my mums face:) Wouldn't go anywhere else! Highly recommend! Also it wasn't overly priced and for what they done and for how they treated us I would happily pay double that price! Thank you so much to Mr Oelofse for absolutely outstanding job, Agnes for making arrangements and all ladies at the desk who were absolutely lovely!!!!!!!

The front of house team were always so friendly and accommodating. The whole practice offers a high quality of care, and managed to make my experience very enjoyable. Fantastic experience: I was recommended to goto Hockerill Dental surgery from a family member. So I booked a implant consultation and was made to feel welcome and relaxed as soon as I walked in the door. Diane was so lovely, professional and funny from the start to the completion of the whole process. Manie was my implant surgeon and I have to say I’m was absolutely amazed at his skills, fastidious approach and execution with every procedure and took time to make sure I understand every part of the implant on every visit. I still don’t e know how o didn’t feel the injections and 2 teeth were out in a heart beat and didn’t feel a thing I am so so happy with the results I can’t stop smiling :) I had a crown at the front and a cracked tooth to the side. I’ve not smiled properly for years because of the aged crown and it’s visible colour difference and a gum line gap that had become visible as time has gone by. Now I have gained instant confidence and can smile again at will and not be concious. Somehow they have achieved the natural 2 tonal effect to match exactly my existing teeth and the texture and sheen is also bang on. They are also absolutely solid as a rock as they make sure the titanium implant has enough time for the bone to grow around. I truly cannot imagine how anyone could get this any better as they are faultless. So… a BIg thank you to all the staff at Hockerill surgery and I would recommend to everyone to go see them. You won’t regret it!!

Negative experience: Although the dentists are great the front desk was very unwelcoming and unhelpful. Unfortunately I was not aware that this dentist had moved to a private dentist and wanted to understand what that meant in terms of pricing as a previous NHS patient. The response was rude and dismissive which was very disappointing.

Negative experience: I have been a customer with this dental practice for over 20years. We had Dr opperman for years and joined as a family, he was excellent. So one day we were told Dr opperman wasn't doing NHS patient's anymore only private (obviously money) but we could stay as NHS with another dentist. Over the years have had numerous dentists at this practice as they keep changing on the NHS. So we now have been told they longer do NHS patient's so either join a dental plan Which works out quite expensive over the course of a year, or leave and find another dentist. I had an appointment with the NHS locum and it was the worst experience at the dentist I've ever had. He was awful no explanation at all whilst doing my broken tooth, just constantly saying"look up" "close" "open" it was very painful and still in pain 7 hours later. Won't be recommending and will be looking for another dentist.

Fantastic experience: So impressed with my experience here. I was in pain all weekend with an infected wisdom tooth, rang Hockerill Dental Practice on Monday morning and even though I wasn’t a patient of theirs they saw me first thing in the morning. I was worried about the pain a couple of days later and they saw me again to check the tooth and didn’t charge me. I will be joining this practice permanently. I am so impressed with the service, and how understanding they have been. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient here for around 20 years and Dr Opperman is an outstanding dentist. He has carried out crowns, root canal and veneers for me and he is so professional and experienced, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. He always takes the time to really consider what the best option is, and talks it through with you in an easy to understand way, which builds trust. I recently had a mix up with an appointment and the Practise Manager contacted me promptly to resolve the issue and went above and beyond to put it right, she was amazing and I’m so grateful. I highly recommend this practise.

I have been lectured and talked down to in the past but I found Hockerill Dental patient, understanding, kind and compassionate. I liked the clear, informed and detailed approach to my options and was not pressured in anyway to make a decision. If anything, I was encouraged to take my time and not decide in haste. Thankyou.
