Fantastic experience: I didn’t realise that in my 60+ years that dental hygienist was very important, until I joined the Castle Dental Care practice. I had a shock when I found out I had gum disease even with my daily routine of dental flossing and brushing my teeth twice a day with a basic toothbrush. Changing my habits was difficult, but with the advice from the hygienists, I bought an electric toothbrush and was further educated on the use of interdental brushes. With much perseverance and patience from the hygienists. I am now on the right track to healthy gums. Many thanks to the hygienists for their hard work, much appreciated.

Reception team are lovely and the advice and care I get from Dave and Caroline and all of the other brilliant clinicians is excellent. Both dentist and hygienist see me together so we can have a chat about my dental care holistically. It makes so much sense. My partner, in-laws and parents all go and have the same excellent experience .

Fantastic experience: Both my wife and I required dental surgery by Mr Duncan Thomas. Throughout the process Duncan took great care and explained fully the procedure. This was carried out thoroughly and painlessly and Duncan has now 2 very satisfied customers. If Duncan has been unavailable we have also been seen by his colleagues, Dave and Pan, who have given the same caring professional service. Now in our sixth year with this practice.

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment to have a tooth removed. I rang the practice first thing and was given a lunchtime slot. Duncan was brilliant! He explained the process, then took an x-ray prior to starting the procedure. Afterwards, he gave me a list of what to do and what not to do to ensure a good recovery. I am a patient with this practice, and have been forever! I liked the old premises, but their new ones are absolutely fantastic, as are the staff. If you're looking to register with a dentist, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Thanks again Duncan!

Fantastic experience: Restored my faith in dentists after a lifelong fear. You feel like you matter. The staff talk to you and give you options. New building is the icing on the cake.

Negative experience: On Monday, 9th December 2024 I had an appointment for a dental check-up and hygienist visit with yourselves at 11am. I have never missed an appointment at short notice (to my knowledge) up to that date and have been with you for many, many years. Unfortunately, at 10.30 on the date in question, I found that my car had a flat battery and, living in Rothbury, I was physically unable to make my appointment. I then had to wait for the AA to repair my car and have no alternative transport. I immediately phoned your surgery, apologised to the receptionist, explained why I was not able to attend to make the appointment and rebooked for a January date. Today, I have opened a posted letter from a receptionist (un-named), informing me of your short notice policy, requiring 24 hours’ notice for a cancellation and could I bear this in mind going forwards. Do I need to explain the ridiculousness of this letter? The waste of everyone’s time and postage costs? Also, insultingly, the underlying suggestion that I must have been lying (as how else would the letters request be relevant on this occasion?). I took all of the above action as soon as I could but still someone felt it necessary to send me a’ telling off’ note and request the impossible in the circumstances I was presented with and had taken the time to explain with an apology. If I had known 24 hours before that I would have a flat battery, it would have been resolved on the day and I would have been there for my appointment. Unfortunately, I am not psychic and nor am I in the habit of just not bothering with a commitment on the day and lying about it. If your immediate (and the standard but idiotic ) response to this is ‘well this is the company policy,’ I would suggest someone actually thinks first: is this circumstance actually relevant to our policy? Before wasting everyone’s time and frankly indirectly accusing someone of possibly lying. Either your policy is not fit for purpose or there is a significant disconnect between someone’s brain and a typing finger. Your letter asks me to bear in mind your policy going forward, perhaps your new Company or staff need to bear in mind that not all unforeseen circumstances give us that luxury of 24 hours notice and also that such a follow up letter suggests that you felt that the person involved just couldn’t be bothered and lied on the day. Fantastic experience: I called Market street dentist on Thursday 5th September after many failed attempts in other practices for an emergency extraction appointment. The women on the phone was lovely and very polite and booked me in for 11:20am the following day. I was extremely anxious for getting my tooth out but my dentist was very friendly and gentle, he explained everything he was doing and at the time and reassured me everything was fine. My tooth was removed and he told me after care advice. I would highly recommend this practice as not only are they welcoming but they’re understanding of people like me who are anxious of dentist. Fantastic experience: It is a private practice run very well but it is starting to become a process rather than people focused service. Notably appointment's are now at their convenience rather than the patient. You get a notification a fortnight before your due which is no use if you work away or have school age children’s. At this point your appointment slips until you can make it. Great for them not so much for the customers. But that’s the owners not the staff, the staff are amazing.
