City Smile

Negative experience: I am writing to make a formal complaint about the treatment and service I received city smile dental practice e84rp, which left me feeling dismissed, confused, and extremely anxious. In october , I contacted your practice because I was in severe pain from a tooth. The appointment I was given was quite far away, so I called NHS 111 and was referred to an emergency dentist. The emergency dentist was very honest and kind; they took an X-ray and explained that the tooth could be saved with a root canal. They advised that, because I am still young, it would be better to save the tooth rather than extract it. However, they also said that only my regular dentist could make the referral. I called City Smile again to explain what had happened and asked for an earlier appointment. I was given one, which I appreciated. However, when I attended, the dentist repeated the same X-ray the emergency dentist had already taken. I mentioned that the emergency dentist had advised a root canal, but the dentist responded in a frustrated tone, asking, “Who told you that?” She then advised that the tooth was difficult to treat because it was at the back and that it would be best to remove it. The appointment felt rushed, and I did not feel like my options were properly explained or considered. At previous check-ups with your practice, the dentist has always checked all of my teeth as part of a full-mouth examination. However, on this occasion , only one tooth was looked at — the same one already examined at the emergency appointment — even though I was charged the same fee as a full check-up a few days prior. After the appointment, I was told by reception that the extraction could be arranged for £75, but when I said I wanted some time to think about it, they said that was fine and that I had up to a month to decide. i left the practice they did not ask me about another payment. A few days later 31/10/2025, while I was at work, I received a phone call from a receptionist asking for payment. I explained that I would pay but wanted to understand what I was being charged for, as the appointment seemed identical to the emergency dentist’s. The receptionist became very difficult, speaking to me in a dismissive and condescending way, as if trying to assert authority rather than help. When I asked for her name so I could include it in this complaint, she refused to say it clearly before hanging up. She also told me that if I didn’t pay, I would be “blocked from all practices,” which I found intimidating and unnecessary she also stated that she will before hanging up. I have since paid, but I am still left feeling distressed and confused. The experience has affected my sleep and made me anxious about seeking further treatment. I also feel that my concerns were not treated seriously or with empathy. I would like to formally request: 1. A written explanation of exactly what I was charged for. 2. Confirmation that the behaviour of the receptionist will be investigated, including why she refused to identify herself properly. 3. A review of why I was only given a single-tooth check-up rather than the full examination I would normally receive for the same fee. 4. A copy of my treatment records and X-rays from that appointment. 5. A formal apology for the distress and lack of care I experienced. Negative experience: Very mixed experiences here. Some dentists are great but the one I had said my teeth were fine for 5 years even though I was complaining about pain. Then one month after an appointment a tooth started to crumble so I changed dentists who found out that previous fillings had been expanding and fracturing the teeth around them. In the last 2 months I've been back 5 times to fix work that their colleague have overlooked and I still need to go back another 2 times, costing me over £600 to fix 3 fillings.

Fantastic experience: Great dental clinic! Super easy, efficient and stress-free experience. I even got my first appointment the next day! The team at reception is very helpful and friendly, and Dr. Rom was excellent with the check-up and treatment. The clinic is spotless with modern equipment, and they even speak other languages (like Russian), which makes the whole service even more convenient.

Negative experience: Awful. Terrible dentist (did two fillings and both need replacing). Rude and incompetent administration. EDIT This is regards to back then - I did raise concerns and you messed me around. The teeth in question were ruined - one of the fillings was entirely unecessary as the pain I described was coming from where I explained but was gaslit into believing it was the tooth next to it. The unecessary filling was done so badly I have had to have two procedures elsewhere and it still isn't rectified and has caused a greater problem. The tooth with the origional pain needs a root canal as the filling (which has been replaced) is only patching the problem, but I have been unable to find another NHS dentist to fix it and I cannot afford to pay for this to be corrected privately. You took my money for this. And never have I experienced such rude and unskilled administration to boot. Lucky for you your staff are so crap I gave up on even trying to complain.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent clinic. I've been using it for nearly 15 years, started when it was in a different location. My permanent doctor is Lior Burg and during these years he has done many successful and very good treatments to my teeth including fillings, crowns, one bridge and 4 implants, and also Botox injections to treat my night teeth grinding. I need to say that doctor Burg is very professional and accurate, does the best work and uses innovative methods, like scanning teeth and then 3D printing crowns which is much more advanced than usual moulding. Also Dr Burg is a very nice person. I also do teeth hygiene here which is very good. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been using CITYSMILE for some years after changing my dentist after I wasn’t happy I’ve been so extremely happy with the service is extremely good and very professional. I have recommended this company to other people and they have also came to this company and had work done and they are very happy even though I’ve moved house I continue to use this Dentist as they are very good.

Fantastic experience: I moved 100miles away from London over three years ago and I continue coming to see Oksana at CitySmile for my hygiene sessions. Even when I as living in London I was choosing to cross the city west to east for thirty minutes of her teeth-magic. The best hygienist ever. Also, they are always on time with the appointments, sending you reminders, and I never had to wait for longer than five minutes, if even those. Which means I can really trust and plan my time accordingly, a very important aspect to me. Couldn’t recommend them more.

Positive experience: Love this clinic BUT recently it's nearly impossible to get in touch with them because their phone waiting time cuts off after 4 min 39 seconds and when you call back you are at the end of the queue. Please sort out this flawed system. Much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: City Smile’s hygienists and dental care are top notch! I’ve been with them for years, and now that I live outside of Hackney it’s still worth my trip in for a regular cleaning just to do it at City Smile. They’ve helped me conquer my gum health issues and have caught multiple small cavities in time for light ceramic fillings before greater care was needed. I cannot recommend them more.

Negative experience: I’m not usually someone who writes reviews, but I wanted to share my experience as I was made to feel uncomfortable by the front desk admin staff. The Two woman was talking about me in their language and was looking at me. Absolute disgrace not nice at all

Negative experience: They are just really not very friendly and if you are at all uncomfortable by the dentist I would not go here. I went for two appointments. The first one was fine but they were 30 minutes late and not very apologetic about it and just generally quite rude. I went to the hygienist the next week and I was 10 minutes late because I got caught up in a work thing, I thought it would be okay because it's not like they were prompt last time but I got like totally reprimanded when I turned up and fyi the waiting room was completely empty and it was a friday evening so not like it was that busy. Like I turned up and the hygienist first thing she said was "you are late" like no hello or whatever. Which considering last time they were 30 minutes late maybe they could be a bit less rude. I sincerely doubt this woman is always on time for every appointment either. She then proceeded to take her anger are my tardiness out on my teeth. I have quite sensitive teeth and hadn't been to the dentist in a while because of money but like yeah they are still sore a week later. Which has never happened before at the hygienist I was in quite a lot of pain and genuinely i do not believe she would have stopped if I asked. I just remember thinking like you just have to put up with this. And in hindsight she was really nasty and just like dismissive of any discomfort I felt. At one point she told me I was going to "break her finger" if I did not open up - which sort of gives the indication that I was in quite a lot of pain and she could maybe just chill out. It's almost like she was saying it's my fault i am uncomfortable. Like I know my teeth aren't in great condition but i don't think that's a reason to treat someone badly. Genuinely some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I think there are a lot of people with fears and discomfort around the dentist so I really don't recommend this dentist.

Fantastic experience: I have just had a course of treatment to whiten my teeth and build up my front tooth that had been ground down. I am so happy with the outcome and overall management and advice that I have had from Dr Vana. We have gone through the different options, discussed the pros and cons of each and came to a joint decision regarding my treatment. I have my smile back. . A big shout out to the Victorias working on reception for keeping me organised with my appointments.

Negative experience: This dentist are not transparent with their skill sets. I made an appointment requesting a root canal. Just before the consultation, the dental practitioner explained to me that they don’t do root canals, so I refused the consultation and explained that they have wasted my time, but still they demanded payment of £45. What kind of scam is this..? They are money grabbing dental practice, that doesn’t provide the service I requested, because they to don’t have that skill set, but still offer you consultation. What an insult to all hard working people. I am considering about complaining for the unjust consultation charge If anyone has any advice how to get a refund, please post. Thanks No Stars. Because the distain they have for customers who challenge the unacceptable charges and not being able to provide that service.

Negative experience: Really poor service, Receptionists are rude and dentist is money grabbing. I am so distressed I can't even be bothered to go into detail about my experience here, but I will NOT be returning. Totally insensitive and rude set of people.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to City Smile for several years (for check-ups, hygienist appointments and occasionally when needed, fillings)…. Dr Rom is a knowledgable, professional, thorough, helpful and lovely dentist and I highly recommend City Smile.

Fantastic experience: No-one looks forward to the dentist, especially after a 5 year interval, a broken tooth & a new cavity, but the dentist (Dr Rom?)& assistant here did everything to make the visit go smoothly & I left with 2 teeth repaired, without the need for an injection & without breaking the bank either. Such an efficient team! I could not belileve how quickly it was all done and now my problem teeth are repaired and I can eat & smile with confidence. Thank you City Smile :) Ps Have now visited hygenist at same practice, & it's still definitely 5*! My teeth feel amazing and look pretty good too. I'm actually looking forward to my next visit which will be in a fe months instead of years. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: Repeatedly rude reception staff, long wait times and no care for the patient only money. I had partial cap fitted which unexpectedly came out and was left with pain for weeks as I had to wait for my appointment only to be told I need my tooth removed (unable to clean due to pain which I expressed when making my appointment) abs wasn’t even given a temp cap whilst i waited for my tooth removal. I wouldn’t recommend this dentist to anyone

Negative experience: From the top floor of a double decker, I could see a member of staff vaping at her desk. Why would I trust these people with my teeth?

Fantastic experience: Recently had hygienist appointment at City Smile with Oksana and cannot recommend enough her professionalism and high quality treatment that I have received. Thank you , will definitely recommend to everyone
