Great Shelford Dental Surgery

Fantastic experience: I met Sophia for the first time yesterday. She cleaned the tough stains and scale build-ups around my gumline. I was very impressed with her thoroughness and amazing technical skills. The whole process felt like a magic touch as the brilliant outcome was achieved totally stress-free without any discomfort. Unbelievable! She is the hygienist I will go to for many years to come!

Fantastic experience: About a year ago I first had an appointment with Sophia, my teeth and gums were in a real bad shape. Partly due to a fear of going to the dentist and partly as I thought I was so far gone there would be no help. She advised I was on the edge of serious gum disease and was in for a very unpleasant journey if I didn't make some changes. She was so careful with me I experienced no pain at all and she explained exactly what I needed to do to turn my dental hygiene around. Turns out of spent the past 35 years not knowing how to brush my teeth properly. Well a year on and all signs of gum disease have gone. I followed exactly what she said. No more pain, no more bleeding gums. I've just left the dental office and what Sophia has managed to do isn't just about fixing my teeth and gums but she has removed the anxiety and fear I had about the dentist. I can't wait to go back! If you're unsure I can't recommend a visit to Sophia enough she is a life saver. 10/10

Fantastic experience: I travel over 30 minutes just to see my hygienist Sophia and I wouldn't go anywhere else. As someone who’s always been nervous about the dentist, finding someone who genuinely puts me at ease has been life changing. She is incredibly gentle, reassuring, and takes the time to explain everything in a calm, caring manner. I never feel rushed or uncomfortable, just completely looked after. My teeth are always sparkling clean afterwards, and I leave feeling refreshed and confident every time. Her professionalism and kindness are second to none, and I’m so grateful to have found someone I trust completely with my dental care.

Negative experience: After waiting five weeks for a hygienist appointment, the only slot available was inconveniently in the middle of my workday. I had to organise leaving work during a meeting to ensure I arrived on time for my 3:30 PM appointment, and I arrived at the reception desk at exactly 3:30 PM. After a short two-minute wait in a queue to check in, I was handed a medical history form to complete. Despite being a patient for over ten years, I was required to fill out basic information like whether I smoked etc. At no point was I informed that completing this administrative task would be deducted from my pre-paid appointment time. When I was finally called in, the hygienist treated me as if I were late and informed me that I would now only receive a 15-minute session or a refund, like this was some sort of favour. I had already paid £84 for the full appointment. I refused the shortened appointment and requested a full refund. What was most upsetting was the complete lack of empathy from the hygienist. There was no apology or understanding for the negative customer experience or the disruption to my day. I don't get upset easily and usually leave positive reviews but the entire experience felt deeply unjust. After more than ten years of loyalty, I was left feeling completely unvalued and disrespected, as well as frustrated at not receiving the very standard teeth cleaning service because of an admin task they had randomly decided to impose on this appointment. The lack of basic communication and customer care was shocking.

Fantastic experience: Historically, I have been absolutely terrified of the hygienist and had many bad experiences, but Sophia is brilliant. Her warm, friendly approach paired with being gentle and checking in to see how you were doing regularly during your appointment makes all the difference. Could not recommend her enough. I’ve gone from dreading my hygienist appointments to somewhat looking forward to my next one! If you get the chance, please pay her a visit!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic dental surgery, feel privileged to have an NHS dentist at all, but Dr S Shah has always been very diligent, kind and pragmatic (I am a bit of an awkward patient due to allergies). Also been pleased with private treatments such as tooth whitening, and appointments with Sophia the hygienist (who is fab). The premises are modern and always clean, just wish parking was a bit easier in peak times.

They have been particularly helpful to me this week when I had a problem with a tooth and saw me quickly for a consultation and then fitted me in for the work to be done a few days later. The reception staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, as is my dentist. I feel in very good hands there.

Fantastic experience: I’m really pleased with the results of the dental work Ive had at GSDS. It’s not my regular dentist but having the work done privately ensured high quality care. The dentist was very experienced and confident and gave good advice and updates through the procedure. I have to say also that the dental nurse was very good too. Having got a wife and daughter that were dental nurses, I know how much a dentist values a good nurse who is on the ball. This young lady was a credit towards my treatment.

Fantastic experience: I have had extensive dental treatment throughout this year which has been carried out by Dr Sahil Shah. At each appointment Dr Shah has explained what he is going to do and what would be the cost, showing me all relevant photographs x-rays etc explaining these in detail. The dental work has been carried as one would expect from a professional and I am pleased with the results. The most recent appointment was for extraction of a wisdom tooth, I was extremely nervous and Dr Shah showed great empathy, he put at ease. He administered the anaesthetic with great care. I would thoroughly recommend this dental practice.

Fantastic experience: Short wait in a comfortable waiting room. Sahil has been managing my treatment for several years and is a friendly and highly skilled dentist, including some previous deep and complex (and painless!) fillings to molars. My annual check up included X-rays that were quick to obtain and view on-screen in the surgery within minutes, and showed the complex fillings were intact with no regression or voids. Highly recommend this surgery.

Positive experience: My visit today for my 6mth check up with Dr Monika was quick but efficient and with a caring ,helpful manner. The reception team are helpful on the phone & on the practice desk. My only quibble today would be a half hour wait!. I have been an NHS patient @ Gt Shelford Dental for over 20yrs back with Dr Coetzee and still drive over 120miles ( 2.5hrs each way) for my Dentistry . Whilst the practice has changed completely in recent years , in my experience, the overall standard of treatment we and appointment availability remains consistently good. J.M.Gleave

Fantastic experience: I cannot stress enough how fantastic Dr Goh was. My 13 yo daughter suffers from severe anxiety and needed a filling. Dr Goh and her colleague were incredible and could not do anymore to make her feel at ease and feel better. The Dentists can be an extremely difficult anyway so when mixed with anxiety I didn’t think we would be able to get the procedure done. But they were able to perform the procedure and it was done with care, care , speed and procession and I can not rate Dr Goh and here colleague enough. Thank you
