Negative experience: I had a quote from Kushal Gadhia for £2,200 for work he said I needed. I obtained three second opinions from private dentists. All said the work was unnecessary. Recently I had a new mouth guard made by my new private dentist. It was less than half the price of Royston Dental Care. I was told by a former member of staff at Royston Dental Care that there is a high turnover of staff due to unhappiness and concern about unnecessary work. Follow up: My point is that I was vigorously encouraged to have work that was entirely unnecessary, so the cost of lab made backings is not relevant. This is not good patient care! Disgraceful.

Therefore this response is to clarify a few points for the public interest.
You were treated by Dr. Gadhia in July 2021 for tooth wear caused by bruxism (your teeth grinding habit). At your 2024 review, some restorations had chipped due to ongoing biting forces.
The quotation given to you was for 3 lab-made backings, which naturally involve higher costs. As always, a full treatment plan and cost breakdown were provided for your review.
We respect your decision to seek care elsewhere, though we stand by our clinical recommendations, which are always made in the patient’s best interests.
Regarding staff turnover, while some team members have moved on for personal or professional reasons, many remain in contact or continue working within our wider team. We feel this doesn't reflect any widespread dissatisfaction and your comments are baseless, to say the least.

Fantastic experience: Great service and perfect teeth for all 3 of my children . Really helpful staff and couldn’t recommend more.
Negative experience: Considering the cost of refurbishment recently the whole look is let down by the tatty paintwork to the side of the building, which is falling off! It would cost a fraction of the cost and time to put this right. No idea what the dental care is like. Sorry to offend you re your rather rude and personal reply BELOW the letter that I have suggested that you SHOULD have written to me. I have amended my rating just as you have taken out some of the crass comments from your original reply. It didn't look very good on you did it? I must add that " angry, callous and reckless " seem like an over reaction to describe such a mild observation above. There again looking at some of your replies to complaints you are obviously very sensitive. I got off quite lightly. Obviously your skills lie in dentistry not in public relations. PERHA PS YOU SHOULD HAVE REPLIED THUS Dear Mr Cole Regarding your comments about our flaking wall paint. The building is listed and so any repairs must be authorised by the relevant authority. I can confirm that repair work to the wall will be arranged as soon as we have obtained permission from that authority. I assure you that we are just as keen to get the necessary work repairs completed. Thank you for your interest. A. Dentist. Much better, I think you will agree! Sorry I will have to knock off a star. Your outside decoration is still tatty. Also it doesn't take all this time to get permission if even needed from the authorities to get this work done. Sorry, still tatty. Latest and final review 4th October 2024. I had to lop off another star. Regretfully your outside wall still looks very tatty. Perhaps there should be a copy of your planning application on public display but perhaps not if you feel that the wall is not strong enough to support it. Not a great situation. Finally, I would add that if you check all my other reviews properly you will see that the majority of them are positive. This must be country's longest planning application! Permission for the extra runway at Heathrow would be quicker! An extra star for finally getting the outside rendering repaired. No more stars though because of their condescending letter to me (as above).

Our building is grade 2 listed so we cannot just have anything fixed straightaway without approval from the council. We are a practice who respects and follows laws and regulations and in as much as we wanted the "tatty paintwork" to be sorted asap, we are waiting and hopeful for an approval first.
May we request next time to research first before callously commenting on things you do not know of. We do not want you to sound angry with the world and recklessly putting down anything you can think of, we noticed that you have been actively doing this all over Royston.
We are the best Dental Practice in the area and can assure you patient care is of utmost priority here. Our hundreds of patient testimonials can attest to this.
Since we are a very busy practice this will be the last time we notice such comment.

Fantastic experience: Just finished a year long Invisalign treatment with Dr Nick Weir and team. We’ve fixed lots of crowding and misshapen teeth, and at the age of 43 I finally have a smile to be proud of. The whole practice team has been warm and friendly throughout. Fantastic experience: Very professional and friendly practice.. Dr Gadhia was very kind and helped me relax. He prepared and fitted an implant and crown. Fantastic experience: I have just completed my Invisalign treatment with Dr Neil and I could not be happier with the smooth journey I’ve had. Dr Neil and his team have been exceptional and have been ensuring that I understood the process at all times . I started seeing results after 3 weeks of wearing the Invisalign and mine was a complex case that has been turned down by other clinic or offered other options that I was not happy with. Before starting the Invisalign treatment I had a great experience with a wisdom tooth removal, Dr Sharma is an extremely warm person , she made me feel very relaxed and took the time to explain everything clearly to me and made the procedure pain free . I also had fillings treatment with Dr Nik Weir who was extremely patient and reassuring and made the procedure quick and painless. Also a big thank you to my hygienists Prianka and Aleksandra that have always made the visit extremely comfortable for me and to all reception staff and practice manager that make the visits feel extremely welcoming from the moment you step into the clinic.

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom tooth extracted at Royston Dental Care by Dr Saumya Sharma, and the experience was faultless. Dr Sharma was warm, welcoming, and clearly very skilled - her confidence and professionalism immediately put me at ease. Negative experience: Was told by the dentist at Royston Dental Care that I need to get 4 fillings urgently which would cost a total of £1.1K along with this I was made to feel very self conscious about my slightly receding gums and how I would need surgery to pull them down. Having gone to a different practice now and got a second opinion I’ve been told I only need 1 filling (and the other 3 would have been totally unnecessary) and that my gums are no where near needing surgery level. This practice is clearly just out to make money and in the process made me feel very insecure about my teeth.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 service would highly recommend Neil and his team. I came to Neil after having a very bad experience with another dentist practise. I was very sceptical in trusting a new dentist. Neil has been fantastic throughout the whole process keeping me in the loop and making sure I understood exactly what was going on at all times. Positive experience: I have always found Royston Dental Care staff to be professional and caring in my treatment. I am always made to feel at ease and everything is explained to me. I have mobility issues and arrangements are always made for me to be treated downstairs. There is also a disabled wc which is always very clean. In fact, we have now moved from Royston to Norfolk and choose to return to Royston to visit a dentist we fully trust.

Fantastic experience: I attended Royston dental care as I was in pain from my wisdom tooth and was advised it needed to be taken out. As I have Pierre robin syndrome my mouth mobility isn’t great I was apprehensive on how successful they would be, I was booked in with Saumya who immediately put me at ease on the procedure and checked/confirmed before starting any treatment that she could take it out. Would recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: This dental practice is the best practice I’ve ever been to. I got sent here many months ago due to needing specialised support for my teeth. Over the months I have seen many different people from the team. They are all so professional, kind, supportive, and have made my fear of dentists almost disappear again. From the ladies on reception, to the Drs/dental assistants - everyone is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Nothing is too much for any of them. Fantastic experience: I’ve had to have quite a lot done to my teeth but Dr Shah has made some quite unpleasant procedures very comfortable and pain free. I have just finished treatment and a crown and I am very happy with the results. The team and dental nurses are also extremely kind and helpful and made me feel at ease.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Royston practice for nearly 2years now, after my last dentist messed up!! These guys , here are brilliant , before they start, everything is explained to you, also they show you everything what’s happening in your mouth. I cannot praise them enough, sorting my teeth out was a mayor job , and they did it. Nothing is to much trouble for them, they are so considerate , polite ,kind and really really, nice. Alicksandra the hygienist is particularly good, she is the best hygienist I’ve ever been to, and so thorough and lovely. I love my teeth now , they have done a fantastic job , I highly recommend them. Even the receptionists are kind , helpful and lovely.

Positive experience: Excellent! I was seen for about a year and a half for orthodontic work and the results are perfect, just what was planned out. Neil has a great rapport with his clients and him and his team go above and beyond with the whole of your dental experience. I had recently had children and with a pram not ideal for the location they were more than happy to watch over them during my visits. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: When I embarked on my ‘adult braces’ journey, I felt immediately put at ease as the team prepared me with all details of the treatment plans available to me. The Covid restrictions hadn’t quite lifted at that time, and so my initial consultation was via a zoom call with specialist Neil. I needed 4 extractions before I could be fitted for braces - throughout my 25 month program I received exceptional care from Neil and his team, and noticed improvements taking effect very early on in the process. During my treatment plan he prioritised my comfort and ensured I knew how to care for my braces, and how to obtain the best results through diet and extra hygiene methods. Neil’s professionalism and genuine compassion made this journey a happy and memorable one - I looked forward to every appointment. Correcting my smile has been the best thing I could’ve done for myself, I can’t stop smiling and I am ecstatic with the results!

Fantastic experience: As it was the first time getting a tooth removed, I was a little apprehensive but the pain was too great. After calling and being welcomed by Abbey who made me feel very relaxed, she also kept in touch informing me of an earlier date. Saumya Sharma explained with great detail on the procedure and answered any questions I had, while Amy continued to reassure me everything would be fine. Negative experience: I have been treated at this practice for 35 years. Early 2020 - the new team wanted to replace unspecified teeth for £15k - 20k. The total charge for this pointless consult was £385. Feb 2022 - hygenist appt (inc. TWO assistants!!) charge was £250. A canine tooth was loose for 2 months after this. A crown had fallen off again. Dentist insisted on replacing it plus the rearmost one - £2200. June 2023 - the new crown fell off due to bad glue. It was glued back (reluctantly) FOC. They tried to charge £250. It lasted 6 weeks, then fell off again, followed the next day by the rearmost one. The charges are excessive and the service quality is dire. I'm disgusted. I have found a proper dentist. --- Followup: Yes, I have been Dr Shah & Dr Patel's patient, please stop suggesting otherwise. The charges I have stated are CORRECT.

Edit addition: We have reviewed your records and although we can’t discuss your particular case in public, we can reply in general as this may help other patients understand why our practice is different and genuinely special. It will also put your feedback in context.
You were quoted the fees for management of your moderately worn teeth - We see and treat many such cases. Some patients may choose not to treat their wear which is completely understandable, but will return a few years later when the teeth have significantly deteriorated and management is more expensive and more challenging.
We are a general and specialist dental service; our clinicians are highly trained and experienced in managing complex cases and several nearby dentists refer complex cases to us where they are not able to manage them in their practice. An analogy is where a GP refers patients to cardiologists.
To say our charges are excessive and service is dire is a cheap comment and at worst libellous.
We are a successful and busy 6 surgery practice, with a large team of 30+ people working to provide the very best care to our patients. We do therefore see patients that value us as well as their own health, and who appreciate the care we provide.
We of course will be happy to see you in the future if you need our services, but otherwise wish you all the best in seeking dental care elsewhere.

Negative experience: For years this was the best but has been bought out by show ponies, all flash and no personal care. Poor quality assessments and tragic dental work. Rude if you ask questions. Go here if you want to be a conveyor belt patient and pay ££££ for the privilege. My family will be moving elsewhere. Edit: Love that you finally replied years later. Of course I’m not a patient now - as you were so terrible! Avoid!
