Smilepod - Canada Place - Invisalign, Emergency, Dental Implants & General Dentistry

Negative experience: Came here for a check up with wisdom tooth pain. I asked for an appointment and asked if they had any same day, they charged me for an emergency appointment without clarifying this. Dentist spoke to the nurse very unkindly which was very off putting and then told me I needed a double extraction and a £700 mouthguard! I left with a quote for over £2000. I feel these guys just want to make as much money off you as possible. Went to another dentist and they were far kinder and charged me just £300 for the necessary extraction, they didn’t even charge me for the consultation!

Fantastic experience: This place is great. My husband and I have been coming here for years for our routine hygiene appointments and everyone is always friendly and great at their job. Furthermore I went in yesterday to take an impression of my teeth for new trays as I thought I had lost the old ones. I found them this morning and called Smilepod to let them know since the new trays haven't yet been made, with little expectation for a refund. I got a call back within minutes confirming the cancellation of the new trays and a refund. Exceptional service. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Dentist fitted a 700 pound hard splint for me, ostensibly to prevent further wear and tear on my teeth. The splint was very uncomfortable and I had to go back several times for adjustments before I could wear it at all. Finally, I forced myself to wear it for a week, upon the dentist's recommendations, but the splint was still uneven at that point and irreparably damaged the tooth where it was exerting the most pressure. I wore the splint for 1 week but that back tooth has been in pain whenever touched for 8 months since. My new dentist can't find what is wrong on x-ray, but says it could be ligament damage and hard splints need expert fitting. I don't know if the dentist here is an expert for hard splints or not, but I would be cautious doing anything complex with them. Throughout this whole process, the dentist was adjusting the hard splint free of charge, but acting impatient and dismissive of my concerns. I would much rather they charged more and fixed the issue, than possibly permanently damaging my tooth. Overall, a very bad experience and would not recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this dentist for couple of years now. I always get my treatment from kat. The lovely kat always making me feel comfortable and one of the kindest people I have met. She’s aware that I have low tolerance when it comes to pain but she’s always making sure that I’m comfortable and making as painless as possible.

Positive experience: Went for help here about 5 years ago as I had a wisdom tooth that was completely split into pieces. I requested extraction but despite my best attempts I could not convinced the male dentist (Italian or Egyptian maybe?) to refer me for extraction, instead he strongly recommended it be rebuilt by one of the most expensive dental surgeons in the city. It was rebuilt at much expense, but against my own advice. My main concern was having a hygienic mouth-with no odours or chance to infect other teeth. But instead I paid thousands and thousands for the reconstructed wisdom tooth which slowly cracked and crumbled over the years causing non stop odour and pain. Which I couldn't then afford to get fixed. All in all I can say the advice was completely opposite to what was in my best interest, so I can only assume the surgery gets referral commission and will always try to upsell, whether it is in your interest or not. 5 years of misery and feeling self conscious about this rotting dead tooth. Tomorrow I'm going to get it removed, like it should have been first time around.

Fantastic experience: I've been a patient of Smilepod Canary Wharf for eight years now (and seeing Angi for the last four years), and always receive an excellent clean and polish! I don't work in Canary Wharf any more but still make the trip over to see Angi - she is just the best: professional, patient and gentle, always giving very practical advice on how to take care of one's oral hygiene. Angi is also the perfect person to see if you are a nervous patient - she is reassuring and very, very kind!

Negative experience: I've been to the Canary Wharf, Canada Place branch several times for my 6monthly teeth hygiene. Most of the hygienists are professional, apart from Angie Toth who I was unfortunate to see today - I suffered from her aggressive technique with sore abrased gums after her ruthless technique. She also spoke to me in a sing-song condescending tone during the appointment, which did not appreciate. Won't be booking an appt with her again!

Negative experience: Unacceptable service. Booked a regular hygiene treatment. They did not send me a confirmation for the booking. On the day of the booking I stopped by reception to confirm all was in order with my booking- I was told it was all booked and was asked to verify my number, which I did, to receive a confirmation. We verbally confirmed the hour. I never received a text/email with the booking. Then I get a call from reception saying I am late for my appointment (although no confirmation of the booking was sent). I did my best to reorganise my schedule and get to the clinic within 5 mins of the call- only to be told we can do half the treatment because they are fully booked. Wasn’t really given an explanation what is “half the treatment”- this is open to interpretation (maybe just one side of the teeth). Upon asking to cancel all of this I was virtually blamed by the Reception staff for not receiving a written booking confirmation because I had opted out in the past to receive their spam emails/texts (which are incredibly intrusive). Needless to say the Receptionist was rude and did not want to hear my feedback. I ultimately got a refund, but it’s safe to say they have lost a client and a potential referral for their services.

Fantastic experience: I was super nervous to visit the dentist. I’ve had really bad experience with my past dentist places and have been very anxious ever since. However, Dr Nikki Rostami was amazing and worked her magic! She made me feel very calm and relaxed, I just cannot fault anything. She kept making sure I was relaxed and reassured me I was doing well :) I had 3 sessions with her and I plan to go back in 5 months for other treatments, with Dr Rostami (I hope). Can I also add, the assistants with Dr Rostami were lovely especially the assistant at the last session, holding my hand and telling me I’m doing well, also checking in and making sure no water spillage was around my face :) Excellent service and excellent treatment!

Fantastic experience: A very very happy costumer for over 9 years. Dr. Karen always always very professional , kind , sweet person. She will make your time at the chair easy, relaxing to the point you can fall asleep ( YES I ALWAYS DO) . Everyone at the clinic is super friendly , helpful and extremely professional. Fantastic experience: My last appt was in March. Roshni did a great job in March. She was amazing. I am due for a cleaning this month. I dont see Roshni against any slots. Slightly worried about trying another Hygienist.

Negative experience: I didn’t like my treatments in Smilipod or their dentists all that much. Last time I was there with a mild pain in my tooth. It wasn’t a cavity as this particular tooth had a 4-months old feeling (done in SmilePod). I was told I should most probably do a root canal treatment and then a crown, which would cost me well over 2000£ I made an appointment at a different clinic. Their dentist said, that my running nose is probably causing this pain and it should be away in a week or two. Which was the truth. NOT ONLY THIS ! My new dentist made it clear I don’t have to get any new fillings right now (based on X-rays) SmilePod insisted I had to get 3 new fillings immediately. Maybe it’s just different treatment methods, but I won’t be going there ever again

Fantastic experience: Dr Gino Castro in the Canary Wharf practice did a superb work using composite filling to repair and lengthen some of my front teeth. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience at Smilepod Canada Place, getting a check-up and classic cleaning done. Dr Adelina Haas and Prabina (Dental Nurse) put me at ease, and I felt quite relaxed during the appointment which is a feeling that most people would not associate with dental appointments. They were very nice, asking me lots of questions, and explained what they were going to do. I am due back for a filling in a few weeks time. I hope it goes as well

Positive experience: I had my teeth cleaning and diamond polish done by Dentist Roshni Goel. She is really sweet and gentle throughout the procedure. I barely had any discomfort while getting the cleaning done. She takes you through the whole process in detail and is very sweet to answer all your queries with patience. The only con is that the prices at Smilepod are quite high but I do recommend Hygienist Roshni Goel. Overall a great job done!

Fantastic experience: I am not fan of having hygiene appointments as my teeth are rather sensitive. Roshni Goel, the hygienist at Canada Place, took care of me beautifully by accommodating manual and mechanical clean interchangeably to minimize my distress. And this was highly important given my pregnancy. Going to send my husband to her!

Fantastic experience: Came to smilepod after being concerned about bleeding gums. I saw the hygienist Steph for a classic. Since then my gums have stopped bleeding and I now have a good daily routine.

Negative experience: After much thought I have decided an honest review is required for anyone thinking of going to smile pod. Firstly, not all reviews here are genuine (I am referring to the 5 star ones). I can confirm this if needs be. The service use to be good in 2012 when I first visited, but has gone down the drain since then. The current hygienists can be heavy handed and are not professional enough in my opinion. I used Dr Minei. She was an excellent dentist, but will only work on you if it’s not a clean. In other words, more expensive treatments (more profit). I was quoted approximately £15000 for a tooth to be replaced! This was a more complicated procedure, but certainly not that complicated to justify £15000. This was also after I was charged about £120 and then another £250 was attempted by their third party recommendation. So I was already out of pocket before they gave me that quote. I believe in transparency and honesty. I do not feel smile pod are true to this. I also encountered a very bad experience with agnieszka (a manager). After a detailed complaint, the outcome was an apology from another member of staff and that’s where it all ended. Since then I have not visited smile pod and have stopped recommending them. I will be sure to provide an update once Smilepod reply. It’s more about money for them than service. I have also looked at the most recent reviews on google and it’s obvious that smile pod do not have a good reputation anymore. Such a shame to ruin a relationship with a long term loyal customer.

Negative experience: received incomplete treatment despite paying extra for an emergency apmt. dr. gave symptomatic relief & rushed me out without bothering to explain the root cause.

Negative experience: Really expensive, cheaper options out there. Staff wasn't friendly at all. The treatment was really painful - wouldn't recommend going there.

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr Ilze for many years. Had a lot of restorative work done by her (pain free!) in the past. She is always very attentive to my concerns, knowledgeable, gentle and has an amazing eye for aesthetics. Can't recommend her enough!

Negative experience: For customers willing to visit the practise soon please be informed that there is additional non reimbursable £10 charge added on each of your visits for 'safety costs'. From my understanding dental surgeries should be cleaned and disinfected as always. Shouldn't the sanitation standards always be as high as possible? I am getting confused who was paying for the disinfection and PPE of the dental surgeries earlier? I do not think it is the responsibility of the customers to maintain the sanitary conditions of Smilepod pracises.

Fantastic experience: Smilepod Canada Place is in a very convenient easy to reach location. The team is very friendly and the treatment was very gentle. I have sensitive teeth and am not a fan of seeing a dentist at all, but it was completely fine. I went in for a teeth clean and am very happy with the procedure I had and with the results. Booking online is also easy and convenient. Will definitely come back.

Vera da Silva who went out of her way to make sure I understood my situation and the recommended treatment. I must say that this place (I guess it's the same for the other locations of the franchise but I'm not sure) was very honest and transparent about treatments and prices. I find that a lot of dentist practices recommend unnecessary treatments to patients in attempt to get the customer to spend more money but the doctors at Smilepod are actually very professional and honest about what's necessary or not. Dr Da Silva is also very caring and goes to great lengths to make sure the patient is relaxed and at ease while receiving treatment. Will definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Gino was thorough and went through everything he would be doing, made me feel at ease. He also wen through reasons for additional treatment, showed me the x rays, cost etc and never felt pressured. Everyone is friendly at the surgery and welcoming.

Negative experience: I had an apppointment at this clinic 10 days ago and I have to say im pretty disappointed at the service I received. I could have gone to NHS clinic but decided to go private as I expected it would be better option as I havent visited dentist in 3 years. I had the classic combination with Dr. Vera Da Silva. First of all, my appointment was for 2.30pm, I arrived 2.15pm. I was let inside around 2.45pm. The doctor examined me and took couple of X Ray and told me I need an extraction along with a costly implant. When I asked more details all she said was there is infection going on where I had root canal years ago. I got a bit concerned and tried to ask her more questions but all she said was " a specialist will call you in next couple of days to arrange a price plan for you". Then she proceeded to clean my teeth. When I exited the room the time on the clock was 3.20pm. The classic combination treatment is advertised for 60 min at 129£. The whole treatment has been about 40 min barely. I feel completely ripped off my hard earned money. There are so many better private dentists in this area that I will choose next time. This is a total scam. The doctor who was supposed to give me a call to discuss treatment plans has not contacted me at all.

Fantastic experience: I booked to have impressions for a new set of Invisalign Vivera retainers. I arrived on time and was in the chair straight away. The dentist was really nice, very experienced and attentive. The nurse quick and worked seamlessly with the dentist. Everything took 20 mins and I was out and back at work ! Impressive Today only 10 days later I’ve picked up the perfectly fitting Invisalign refiners. They fit perfectly. 5* for sure with a wonderful friendly professional staff.

Negative experience: I feel that I paid a premium price to be insulted rather than receiving a treatment in my last visit. I’ve used smilepod for more than 5 years and was always satisfied with their service until recently. It seems that there is a high turnover of the front desk people and unfortunately, some of the new hirers have very bad attitude. I was late for my appointment and I knew I wouldn’t been seen if I was late over 10 mins but I was just around the corner, so I said I would be there in 10 mins, but the staff said over the phone they might not be able to see me because I would be 20 mins late. I have no idea where this 20 mins come from. When I arrived it’s 8 mins past but they were dealing with 2 other customers ahead of me. I politely said sorry to interrupt but I just wanted to say I made it, but I was told to wait in a very bad manner. I thought I was in a NHS dental clinic at the moment. Would rather pay less to see NHS if that’s the service I’ll receive. Also, both the skills and the manner of the hygienist in my last visit are disappointing. She asked when my last hygiene treatment was. I answered it’s been a long time and when I was about to tell when it was, she asked me very impatiently, ‘was it 5 or 10 years ago?’ I don’t think she was trying to help me but saying ‘I can’t bear your bad memory and slow respond.’ Well, that may be true but I can pay less in somewhere else if I don’t bother customer service at all. Again, you are paying the money to receive a NHS service, or you probably get better service at the NHS.

Fantastic experience: We took our boy there and could not be happier! Dr Vera Da Silva was incredibly professional and caring, made our boy feel very comfortable throughout the whole treatment. We are extremely pleased with the result and we would definitely go there again.

Negative experience: Very poor service from receptionists and even management. Extremely rude on the phone and show disinterest in doing business. I asked for a change of doctor after reading reviews online. In the end my request got rejected and they even asked if I would like to cancel the appointment with a “take it or leave it!” attitude. Don’t think the dental service can be any better if the experience was already so unpleasant in the beginning.

Negative experience: I didn’t notice a single bit of difference after an airflow treatment to remove stains by Vera. The staff were very nice though and I am going back for veneers. Let’s hope it works this time around.
