Fantastic experience: I’m 17 and I’ve always been a bit nervous about going to the dentist, but Dr. Imran Arbee at Tooting Bec Dental Practice completely changed that for me. I needed a few fillings done and was really anxious beforehand, but he was so kind, patient, and gentle throughout the whole process. He explained everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time. The staff at the practice were also super friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I left feeling calm and confident instead of scared! I definitely recommend Dr. Arbee and the team to anyone who’s nervous about seeing a dentist.

Fantastic experience: My experience receiving treatment here was a night and day difference to past experiences at other dental practices. I came to see Dr Imran after struggling with severe pain not long after a recent deep filling at a different practice. After investigating he concluded that I would require a root canal. He put in a lot of effort to carefully explain everything from start to finish about the treatment process and broke down estimated costs. He even went through explaining the x-ray images and asking if I had any questions throughout the process. It was the first time I’ve had dental work done completely pain free, the anaesthetic he administered seemed to really do the job well. I felt a lot more calm and relaxed than I would normally expect to, at one point I thought that I might even nod off! Whenever I next need any dental work I will definitely be coming to see him again.

Negative experience: I visited this practice in person to arrange an appointment but was told I had to go online to book, even though I was already there. After booking online, I attended my appointment, and while I was briefly using my phone, Dr. Imran spoke to me very rudely and said he wouldn't treat me if I didn't put it away. I found his attitude extremely unprofessional and dismissive. It felt as though he was more concerned about payment than providing proper patient care. Overall, I left feeling disrespected and disappointed with the service.

We wish to thank the writer for taking the time for sharing this review, which allows us to make a response, and which also allows other businesses or dental practices to be informed about the feedback on this public forum.
Our responses are generally quite apologetic when we detect that we didn't get things right. However, on this occasion, we can confirm that the information shared seems incorrect or is purely as was perceived by the writer regarding the event, whilst not giving readers all the information. We have experienced many issues which ranged from us allowing a late cancellation allowance (without charge), to the use of a mobile phone (where the writer of the review answered a call for 2-5 mins in between a session with our dentist) as it was stated by the writer "I have to take this" and additonally as below.
When the writer attended recently, we politely asked him to turn his mobile phone off before entering the treatment room, based on the previous visit. The writer then stated "My mobile phone stays on all the time." At this remark our dentist informed the writer of the review that he will end the session if he repeats what was done previously. We regard this as disruptive and disrespectful to us as a practice. The writer of the review laughed/smiled at this remark, and our dentist stated he was not joking. Both sessions were otherwise uneventful and beyond this, there were no issues or change in atmosphere at all in our opinion. Our dentist and the writer held respectful conversations to discuss patient care (clinical notes shared as always by email), so we are sorry if the writer took offence to being asked to turn his mobile phone off or if he felt disrespected in any way, but we simply cannot proceed with patients who are not adhering to practice policies or a mutual level of respect being established. At the end of the session, the writer of the review confirmed his satisfaction when he looked in the mirror regarding the visit, and enquired about booking the next appointment. We suggest that the writer of this review kindly take all information above into consideration, as well before any review process.
Regarding online bookings, our records show a clear record of communication with different reception members, that were offered including the option to book online or in person (on several occasions) but it was stated by the writer that he was quite "busy at work", has a special preference to book for a specific time of the day, and it was asked if he could book online. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding on this, but as advertised on our website, any patient can book online or in person or on the phone. We are unsure what is meant by "more concerned about payment", as all our fees are paid in advance at the time of booking and as is stated on our website. It is also our duty of care to discuss fees during our consultation to ensure there are no surprise charges to patients.
Once again, we thank the writer for the review, and kindly ask all patients to consider practice policies before attending any establishment, as a mutual level of respect is part of a successful patient - dentist relationship to allow for the continuance of patient care. This includes turning off your mobile phone even without being asked. In general, we also advise all patients to attend ONE dental practice of their choice, to allow this relationship to be built upon, and to ensure patient satisfaction to avoid a recurrence of similar issues mentioned above. We would like to wish the writer the very best for his care at any future practice attended. We are aware that we cannot meet every patient's expectations all the time. Fortunately, we maintain a high patient satisfaction rating.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been with this dentist for coming up to a year now and I can’t recommend them enough! Imran has always been super thorough when discussing procedures or any underlying issues I’ve had with my teeth! I recently finished my Invisalign treatment with them and I’m super pleased with the results! The staff are super friendly and kind - I never used to enjoy going to the dentist, but now I actually look forward to it! If you’re looking for a new dentist, I would recommend this practice in a heartbeat!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had two appointments with Dr Imran Arbee and he’s been brilliant - explains everything succinctly but clearly, very friendly and professional, and did an amazing job cleaning my teeth. He also laid out various options for further treatments but I didn’t feel pushed into anything at all. The nurse and receptionist, Sofia, is also very lovely and I’ve felt very welcome each time I’ve arrived for my appointment. I’m very glad I found this dentist since moving to Tooting, and have recommended them to my fiancé.

Fantastic experience: I'm updating my review based on another year of excellent service from Dr Arbee and his team at Tooting Bec Dental. I have problematic teeth and Dr Arbee has helped me with everything from fillings to a wisdom tooth extraction. Most recently I have also completed very successful straightening and whitening treatments (Invisalign and Zoom). Dr Arbee always shares detailed information from his assessments which has helped me through each decision process, and he pays a lot of attention to aesthetics. Overall I've had a very professional and reassuring service for over 2 years now. Last visit 23/10/2025

Fantastic experience: Have been to this dentist as part of an ongoing transformation of my teeth. Started with cleaning, then whitening and now composite bonding. The team here are friendly and approachable, treatments are efficient and effective, with appointments at genuinely convenient times, and the prices are always laid out before you make any decisions. I would say this is a specialist dentist for those wanting to take their oral health more seriously and improve the appearance of their teeth. You are getting a top end dentist who goes the extra mile, so expect to have those recommendations made and the costs to be reflective of the quality. Before I moved to Tooting, I’d visited other dentists but have never had such a good experience - usually they are uninterested and running late. But this surgery is always on time and the interactions are actually enjoyable and a positive experience every time. It’s actually one of the only places that I’ve experienced the dentist making live detailed notes and making recommendations in real time. By the end of the first appointment I had a plan for my treatment moving forward that I was really happy with. I visited most recently on 9th October. - Tom Sweeney

Fantastic experience: Had a temporary crown fall off over bank holiday weekend and Tooting Bec Dental came to my rescue and saw me as an emergency as my own dentist wasn't open until Tuesday. Negative experience: The outward appearance of this dental practise appears to be great but then when you are met with the dental surgeon you realise its less about the patient and more about the money making tactics. On this occasion I think Dr Imran has delivered the appointment very regiment in an insensitive manner. Statistically most people are known to be anxious going to the Dentist but Dr Imran has intolerance to anxious patience and his solution is to sedate for a root canal procedure/or potentially extraction. Despite me telling him other dentist have done so without sedation but then it made sense that way he would pocket another £250. He clearly stated, 'I would stop the procedure if you cannot tolerate local anaesthetic as I cannot treat nervous patients'-well mate you're in the wrong profession! As I explained other Dentist have done so with local anaesthetic-how did they manage? Is it a competency issue here?. He also attempted a mouth x-ray and naturally it takes a moment or two to hold the item in place, before the x-ray was even carried out, he says 'I will try this now but if you can't tolerate it I will have to do another type of scan (cannot remember the name) which will cost £100'. Another good way to pocket in money. This consultation cost me £75.00 and when I have told family and friends they said you're actually good at Dentist and if he can't hack a calm person like you we stand no chance which I am glad as I have suggested people around me to avoid Dr Imran and his practise. The nursing duties are carried out by the Receptionist and each time I called, the same lady answers who also herself said she does nursing duties and was there on the day of my consultation. Another way of saving money. And while I understand trying to be cost effective is good, don't forget that you are in a patient serving role. Where are your values and compassion in treating patients when you're too busy trying to cut corners and make money?! Lastly when I said, I will take a second opinion from another Dentist before making a decision, Imran said, just make sure they are qualified as I have been in this service for 23 years. As though I was going to walk into a grocery store and ask a random to assess my teeth. I only had to leave my last surgery since I had not visited for quite some time and with surge of patients they have to take people off the list. He probably panicked someone else may pocket my £900 + worth of required treatment and he will miss the opportunity and that's exactly what happened. As a result of the insensitive care and rushing the appointment and not listening- you certainly lost a customer and I have suggested to colleagues, friends and family to avoid your practise! Had I not been to a QUALIFIED dentist before, I would have been convinced what this dentist is saying is the only way. Thanks to those Dentist I made a wise choice of not going back and been treated well elsewhere. Reading the comments below I am not alone in having this opinion- its nice to also see that some patients were treated well- I may have visited on the wrong day!

We would like to wish you the very best for your care at any other dental practice you may choose to attend. Having met you, consulted you and assessed your care, we maintain our clinical prescription, based on mutual discussions of your clinical history and the degree of difficulty of your care. Our dentists are not general dentists, but rather work in the Specialist or Dental with Special interest fields of Root canal treatment and IV Sedation. This is why many dentists in the area and across London refer their patients to us, when they fail to achieve treatment needs. Sensor sizes vary between dental practice, based on digital software. This is why some practices may have a challenge, whilst some don't. Our clinical prescriptions may not always be same as other dentists, and for this we are proud to be able to include patient comfort especially during lengthy procedures like Root Canal Treatments or to offer sedation to prevent injury during clinical procedures. Our patients have all information about prices and services online, and can book at free will. Our fees for treatment are always confirmed, as it is your right as a patient to know exactly what you are paying before any treatment commences, instead (as some patients have stated about other dentists) of them being handed a bill after care was completed. We are also proud to be able to offer Interest Free Credit, and like all Credit application transactions, the fee must be confirmed before any application is made.

Regarding care with another dentist, we cannot comment on whether that dentist is qualified to offer sedation or not, or the details of assessment, but it is of course your right/dentists right to choose if you wish to take that risk, but as clinicians we would not proceed with (or indeed stop the continuance of any care) if there is ANY risk of injury or discomfort to our patients at any level. Once again, best wishes your new dentist. We will not compromise on our deliverance of high quality care to our patients which is reflected in the majority of our reviews. Our regular attending patients have indeed recognised how our work ethos differs to other dental practices, which has contributed to our Award Winning status.

Fantastic experience: Having been a client of many dental practices across London, I can confidently say that this is the best of them all. Dr Imran Arbee shows the health of your teeth & gums on a large screen which allows you to see how well you're brushing and which areas need more attention. The x-ray technology he uses is more advanced than other practices which allows him to spot and correct small issues before they become major issues. Unlike most dentists, he has a consultative approach where he explains things clearly so you will understand how to improve your oral hygiene. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Was told they'd appreciate 5 stars rather that appreciate a review. The dentist seems to be all about the money with everything measured to the zenith, even the 'free' courtesy call he follow up with, which I though part of the £800 I paid him. Would be good to put patients first. EDIT: Sorry, I'm not able to reply to your post. I was most definitely one of your patients. That was my experience when visiting, I felt it was very money focused rather than patient focused. Take it as feedback, i would be more than happy if you proved me The service was for approx £800 rather than exactly £800 exactly.

Thank you for your one star review, but we are not sure that this review is for us, or perhaps meant for a similar named practice in "Tooting" and not "Tooting Bec." This has happened on a few occasions previously by patient error. If this is the case, kindly delete this review, as we don't seem to have any patient by this name on our system. As well, none of our procedures cost £800, so we are a little "thrown off" here.

If it is meant for us. we recommend that you contact the practice, as no staff member or dentist should state that we prefer a 5 star review over feedback from any patient, as we generally ask patients to to let us know if we have met their expectations, based on how Google rates us (i.e. Stars one for each level of service). In addition, when we send a google link to our patients, they automatically get an option (at free will) to write a review or not, or post only the stars equivalent.

Our fees are quoted for the services only. Our courtesy follow up call, is as stated "a courtesy." It is not essential, and it is not included in any fees paid or in the estimate of costs (sent by email to patients) for the any treatment costs. It is genuinely out of the dentists personal time, and nothing to do with the practice or the fees received from your treatment received. We would strongly recommend that our viewers use this as an example to consider of the validity of this review, as it is to complain about a Courtesy call and the charges, when there was none? We aim for patient satisfaction, so we ask patients to let us know how we did to meet their expectations. We are lost for words as how to respond to this review, to be honest. We are entitled to charge for our services, and ALL our patients pay in advance for their services to avoid any confusions regarding fees at any time, so they know exactly what our fees are to entitle them to proceed (or not to proceed) with our high quality care. Until we know the exact name of your attendance with us (if at all), with more details of your fees paid and treatment, this is all we can state. Once again, the majority of our reviews are positive. We recognise that we will get some people whom we cannot please.

Fantastic experience: I received dental treatment with Dr Imran after failing numerous times to get an appointment with my NHS dentist. He made me feel at ease and throughout my treatment period explained procedures very clearly including costs. I was amazed at the technology used which made it very easy for me to see and follow his detailed explanation of what was going on with my teeth as well as my gums. I am happy with the end result and believe it is money well spent. My overall experience has been a really positive one so a big thank you to Dr Imran and his wonderful staff.

Fantastic experience: I'm a very nervous patient that needed a cleaning due to enamel erosion. I have never felt so relaxed and put at ease during a procedure. Both the assistant and dentist were absolutely fantastic and very professional and thorough in every aspect. Amazing job! Thank you. Would highly recommend this clinic to friends and family, the receptionist was great too :)

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend signing up as a new patient at this practice. The dentist Imran Arbre doesn't have good people skills, he comes across as rude and very money-oriented. A family member and I both attended this practice on different occasions, hoping to find a new local dentist. Unfortunately, he didn't spend the full amount of time completing both of our hygines, he made rude person comments while his dental nurse laughed along. ( I assume she is a young family member). The practice doors are also always locked, which is very unusual and uninviting. My current NHS practice is much better in service and general communication. If you are looking for a friendly dentist that will make you feel comfortable, this is not the place for you. As I left, I was asked to leave a 5 star review on google, which is probably why there are so many below this one.

We wish to thank the reviewer for the feedback and giving us the opportunity to share the enquiry with other potential patients. We notice that we don't have a patient by this name, but thanks to google (retaining historical reviews elsewhere that the reviewer made), we have managed to make an association with another name used for the review and your patient booking with us. Our reception staff recollects the reviewers satisfaction when she left, and may have actually placed a 5 star review AFTER leaving the practice, as she was happy with our services. It seems there was a change of heart, when the reviewer deleted the 5 star review, which which we cannot comment on. We never ask our patients to leave a 5 star review. This is not within our control, as each patient uses their own device to place a review at their own free will after they leave the practice. Reception always ask our patients "How was your experience today?" as it helps us improve our services. We then ask patients if they could kindly leave a review on google as many patients find it useful. Money orientated: It is a requirement under all current guidance to ensure every patient is given a full cost of care and discuss this with patients. For Groupon patients, they make their purchase in advance and there is a limited entitlement within ONE session, but we always advise on costs and need of any further care. For all other patients, they are clearly informed of all costs in advance. Maybe the reviewer is used to her NHS dentist not doing this, as it is a banded charge of care under the NHS scale of fees. Regarding Groupon patients, we have stopped our Groupon vouchers, as we seem to be getting patients who want more than what the voucher clearly states. Rude: Apologies if the reviewer finds our dentists direct approach as rude. It is not our intention. It takes time to build any professional relationship. The reviewer seems to have made up her mind on our first meeting. Time spent on care: All our sessions are timed and included in clinical notes. We then always ensure that every patient receives their full entitled time. If any patient requires more surgery time, it is chargeable, like every other sector of care or business. Each patient also gets an email of all notes and times. Please view your email for confirmation. Nurse family member: Your review is that of assumption, as there is no truth in this. We do like to maintain a light-hearted atmosphere. Without recollection, apologies if the reviewer was not happy about anything said in light conversation. Doors are closed for patient and staff safety, as well as COVID guidance from any members of the public walking in and creating an unsafe environment. The practice and services are reserved for our patients only. We have had people walk in to use the toilet, some members of the public approach patients in the waiting room. We will not allow anyone in who is not a patient or has a booking or enquiry to book. There are so many 5 star reviews as many many patients prefer our practice to other practices. Fantastic experience: Reading a few reviews with mention of a groupon, I luckily arrived on time. I purchased a groupon for a scale and polish. Great results, was shown via the screen and had my own inspection in the mirror and I was happy. Tiny bit of of calculus left over not visible to the naked eye (I checked again in the bathroom) and a bit of yellowing not caught in the polish (back top teeth) but nobody's fault. I know I could have gone back but didn't feel the need as I will most probably come back even though it's not local. Seen on time, very thorough and professional, as it's time limited terms were spoken through quite quickly but was able to understand my treatment, needs and any follow up by my regular dentist. Air polishing not for the faint hearted but was pre warned what to experience, but great results and an amazing price. Very happy not to have been sold anything which makes me want to come back and look at their fees as they are private. Very high tech and clean. Thanks so much felt at ease and I hate the dentist usually .

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the service I experienced during my recent visit to tooting bec dental clinic. Despite paying in advance, I had a traumatic experience upon arrival. It took me two hours to reach there. Due to circumstances beyond my control, including bus delays, I arrived a few minutes late to my appointment. Despite explaining the situation to their receptionist, I was met with outright refusal to accommodate my request for rescheduling or refund. Additionally, the staff's attitude was unwelcoming and unprofessional throughout the encounter. Furthermore, I was shocked by the refusal to allow me to use the washroom (I was on my period), The lady at reception said “only the clients in our care can use our washroom.” I mean what?? I paid for your services both for clinic and Groupon in advance. This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this clinic to others.

We are equally disappointed by the experience which we have had here and your review, especially as we offered you a £20 discount, although your late arrival was nothing to do with our practice. Our Groupon Voucher is quite clear regarding LATE ARRIVING PATIENTS. We allow a full 25 mins grace period, if you note that your time of arrival was required 15mins before your appointment time. We are unable to accept the responsibility of your travel time or consider where you live, as this is a decision which is made solely by you at the time of your Groupon Voucher purchase. You arrived late by 38mins for a 30mins appointment, and despite being given the full terms and conditions of your appointment (At the time of voucher purchase, emails before appointment and again when you arrived), you refused to leave the reception or accept those terms and conditions. You stated you want to speak to the dentist/more senior management, despite our next two patients already having arrived and our reception team explaining that your late arrival does not allow you any further surgery time entitlement. Our dentist then spoke with you. You didn't state to our dentist that you wish to use the bathroom, but we do sincerely apologise if any staff member didn't allow you to use it, as other patients were there. As you are aware some COVID cases are still prevalent and we choose to currently still maintain social distance and measures between our patients. We will of course discuss this with our team and ascertain what occurred. Your purchase of a Groupon voucher DOES NOT entitle you any further appointment (other than the one you confirmed to attend, which you booked online to your convenience, but failed to attend on this occasion). Your repeated suggestion, of rescheduling a failed appointment, or waiting to be seen to your sole convenience whilst inconvenience to others (any of our other patients, staff or dentist) is NOT included in your voucher. This is something you were, and appears to be something you are still refusing to accept. We are sorry about this, but wish you the very best for your future dental care. We are glad that you made this review public, as it allows future businesses ( including Groupon vendors) to monitor any repeat reviews of similar experiences. We wish to suggest that you kindly read all Groupon vouchers terms and conditions before purchase. Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of having my appointment today. Starting from the beginning of the journey to the very end, it was great. I called the dental clinic before booking to which Sophia (sorry if I’ve spelt it wrong) helped me book the right booking online as I had a groupon voucher. From there, I had constant reminders about my appointment as well as a chance to reschedule 48 before if needed which I believe is ample time. Then I was seen by Dr Arbee who was very thorough with the pre consultation as well as the scale and polish procedure. I was given advice for further treatment however at no point did I feel pressured to take on further procedures. This was my first appointment at a dentist in 5+ years and I can say I feel much better about my smile. Oversell I’d highly recommend them as they deliver high standard service with modern technology and professionalism from both the front of house staff to the dentist. Thanks for taking care of me :)

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr Imran Arbee to anyone looking for a great dentist. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The dental hygienists and the dentist themselves were incredibly patient and took the time to explain each step of the examination and treatment. The dentist was also very knowledgeable and addressed all of my concerns and questions with care. The Airflow Stain Removal Treatment was amazing and my Teeth haven't felt and looked this clean in a while. In addition to their exceptional dental care, everyone was friendly and efficient. Negative experience: Like other reviewers here, I feel completely ripped off by this dentist. I was told I needed to have much more work than I did, and after agreeing to part of the work and paying £800 (should be £500 anywhere else) he quoted another £1500-2000 for all the other work I needed. We wish to thank the writer for his review. We do not have a patient by this exact name at our practice so we responded quite generally. The only patient with a similar name attended in 2022, and was happy with all our care that was carried out. If you are the same patient, please feel free to attend any dentist you wish to continue your care with, to meet your special preferences but please also compare all the information, not just the cost of care. As we have responded to some other reviews, we are NOT only a General dentist. We are a bespoke private dental practice who provide General and Specialist Care, which means our fees are reflective of the high clinical requirements and high technology services (which we provide to our patients) that may not be available in other practices. For example, we are able to offer IV Sedation, when most practices can't, as their clinicians do not have the skills or qualifications for this. Sometimes when patients gag with procedures, sedation is advised. This in turn increases costs of treatment. Sometimes we recommend crowns for fillings (which we carry out as interim measures and other dentists may be very happy to retain the tooth with just a filling we may have done) but we would advise to strengthen the tooth to prevent it from breaking down. We have an Itero scanner (3D imaging which not all practices have) and we don't use the out of date Alginate impressions taking technique for laboratory work. Our clientele are patients who anticipate a high level of skill and precision to our work. However, we would like to point out that although (and correctly stated in this review) the minority of our reviewers who are dissatisfied, are entitled there opinion, but the majority of our patients are willing to pay for the service as they expect nothing but the best of care from our practice, and they seem quite happy with our fees and services. We know we would get a few dissatisfied patients, but we would not at all be happy with decreasing our high level of care by cost-cutting techniques to please a few.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with my first experience of Tooting Bec Dental. I arranged an Scale & Air Polish appointment on the Friday and was seen to first thing on the Tuesday. Pricing was fair and commensurate with other dentists in the area. After arriving I was seen to without having to wait, and the procedure itself was very thorough (more than previous dentist) and I enjoyed the use of a live stream showing the dentists very of my mouth on the monitor in front of me. Happy to recommend and I will be returning.

Fantastic experience: Had a really bad toothache and needed a quick dentist appointment as I really cannot tolerate dental pain at all! Had a quick browse around my local area and was drawn to this particular dental practice due to it’s high rating and I was not disappointed. I was seen promptly and the dentist, Imran, managed to locate the problem after an examination and an X - Ray which were both done very quickly. He offered me a suitable treatment option and even offered to fix the problem on the very same day, which I am very grateful for. The procedure was painless and done very well indeed. The dentist even highlighted two other health issues not related to my teeth at all, which was very nice of him and was also advised me to see my GP, which I will be doing. Friendly staff too. Negative experience: Had a new patient exam for £75, a treatment was recommended to me costing over 1K. Everything that was told to me seemed to have terms and conditions added on to the end of it, which I've never had at a Dentist before. I struggled to trust their recommendation and thought their pricing was unreasonable. I managed to get an appointment at my old private dentist (4.9* 200+ google reviews), where a new patient exam is almost half the price. I asked for a check up to compare and they recommended I have no work done. Very glad to have trusted my gut and visit my old dentist which is 30+ mins further away.

Our prices are fixed and displayed on our website, and they are reflective of the area we are located in, based on our individual running costs as a business and a dental practice, without one taking more priority than the other. Attending our practice is an individual decision. When patients opt for a printout of the x-ray images, these can sometimes not be as clear as the 40" digital screen with the digital imaging enhancing software we use to discuss all the findings with patient, to enable us to reach our clinical diagnosis. If these were repeated by the new dentist, it would depend on the technique (digital or manual), quality and what field of the image was obtained. We respect all feedback, but we would recommend more honest information, especially when a patient massively inflates the treatment to be "over 1K", when it was not at all that. We are however glad that the patient has found a cheaper dentist to meet his expectations and budget. We are also aware that we would not meet every patient's expectations, but we certainly do try our best whilst still bearing in mind that each dentist (like many other professions) are entitled individual clinical opinions based on the clinical findings at hand at the time of consultation. Thankfully most of our patients are quite happy with our treatment, advice and prices as they recognise that we are not only a general dental practice, but also have specialist dentists who are able to reach diagnosis at early stages, when some other dentists refer to us when they fail to meet their patients' expectations. Negative experience: First time to see a hygienist and quite frankly I’d be content in allowing all my teeth to fall out if it meant never putting myself through that experience again. Went in for a scale and polish and within 3 mins given an avalanche of information and only a few minutes to digest it all and decide on a course of action. When I then decided what I wanted, the hygienist said there wasn’t enough time to do it and suggested I re-book on another day. What a waste of time. The person I saw was rude, insensitive and condescending. Perhaps it was because I was unwilling to commit to treatment costing thousands of pounds within 5 mins or perhaps it was because the appointment was late in the day and the person couldn’t be bothered. Terrible experience and will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Negative experience: I don’t like dishonest people, and this practise is fraudulent. It’s a shame the GDC is not as strict as the GMC. To cut a long story short, they will make out your teeth to be wayyyy worse than they actually are, in the hopes to get you to buy the most intensive treatments they sell. What another dentists will see as a simple fill, these merchants see as an opportunity to get a crown in your mouth, even in your healthy teeth. Fantastic experience: Kind, friendly and understanding if you have sensitive teeth! Biggest session we had was taking me through everything step by step for teeth extraction (4 wisdom teeth in one session) and they were wonderfully helpful and professional. 5/5

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL PRACTICE PLACE! A few months back I had very bad jaw/teeth pain on right side of my mouth. The dentist had told me confidently that my tooth had been rotten at the back of my mouth and it needed to be removed immediately for around £700. Which shocked me as I don’t even have a single filling or had any problems like that before. Luckily same day in the evening I got a NHS appointment and the NHS dentist had told me that I had been grinding my teeth hence why my teeth/jaw was hurting. I didn’t realise I was even doing this, maybe because of anxiety. I requested the NHS dentist to check if any of my tooth was rotting and she told me that all my teeth were fine. And I didn’t need any treatment. Few days later I stopped grinding my teeth and I was totally fine. Basically this dental practice are fraudulent and scammers. These people were meant to be family friends. Imagine they would’ve taken a totally fine tooth out and took £700 for it. So glad I didn’t fall for the scam. And you have to pay £150 to get seen urgently. What a joke place.

Please call the practice urgently. We assure you that we would gladly assist you, as we know that sometimes we all can make mistakes, as we have had quite a few incorrect reviews posted on our website from a similar named practice in "Tooting" whilst we are called "Tooting Bec Dental." Fortunately the respective patients realize their error and remove the incorrect reviews and some call us to apologize. In response to the review, we feel this may be the case as:
1. This review may/may not be for our practice. Once we know the name of the patient (As there is no patient Anam Javed on our records), we can confirm this.
2. We do not charge £700 per tooth for extraction. Our fees are much lesser than that (actually less than half that) and is mostly with our Oral Surgeon for wisdom teeth mainly.
3. We do not charge £150 for assessment. We charge £75 for non-wisdom teeth assessment.
4. With regards to your comment "These people were meant to be family friends," we do not know who you are let alone confirm that we are friends. If you were a Family friend, family friends would not post comments on websites but rather hold discussions in person. You may wish to rethink this comment.

In an event that WE are mistaken, and that your review is truly meant for us, we would glad post an apology on here for you. Having searched for any patient with the same name/surname on our system, we have located one other patient with a same surname, and similar clinical symptoms as mentioned by you. We cannot disclose this of course, but if this is you, we would gladly share the photograph of the rotten tooth with you, so that you can ask your NHS dentist to re-confirm the findings. We assure you, it may be an embarrassing moment for him/her having told you that there is no cavity in your mouth as our photograph is quite clear of what we saw despite it being difficult for our intraoral camera to reach so far back. We all make mistakes, but we have been finding recently that some patients' expectations and reviews are inappropriate in this trying times of the COVID pandemic. We ask all patients to please post responsibly and accurately to avoid anxious patients from becoming more anxious. They do not deserve this from subjective and inappropriate reviews.

Fantastic experience: I was exceptionally impressed with Tooting Bec Dental Practice when I took my son(12yrs) for his dental check-up, and he had a very pleasant experience. Extremely clean clinic and all the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. Dr Arbee was very through with his check up and made my son feel very comfortable. It was the first time my son did not complain and moan about his visit to the dentists. Dr Arbee also took his time to answer all my questions and I was not rushed after the check-up. I would highly recommend Tooting Bec Dental Practice.

Fantastic experience: I travelled from Birmingham to Tooting Bec Dentist following a recommendation from a friend. I needed a 2nd opinion before deciding whether to have further treatment for a painful baby tooth, loose filling which had been repaired 4 times and an impacted upper right tooth. The assessment by Dr Arbee was thorough and informative. He was able identify and diagnose potential future problems with my planned course of treatment in Birmingham which my own dentist had missed. Dr Arbee was professional and pragmatic. His fee was also very reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Taken my 13 year old son to Tooting Bec Dental for the first time. Extremely welcoming staff at the reception! Made my son feel comfortable especially when he was quite nervous. We were seen by Dr Imran Arbee, who was very professional and knew how to handle nervous children for sure. My son, for the first time, was not sick, that usually happens. A very comforting experience for us parents and seems like my son's fearfulness of dentists has certainly gone away, thanks to the lovely Staff and Dr Arbee. Reports were emailed immediately. We thank you for you wonderful experience and Tooting Bec Dental certainly will be our family dentist !

Negative experience: You have to pay in advance and you lose your money if you need to cancel or reschedule within 48 hours. My wife went into labour so I missed my appointment and lost my money. Found another practice in Balham that I'm glad I went to instead, so much better service and process, and they have compassion.

We are sad to see that the writer of the review decided to write this review instead of contacting the practice. Had he done the latter, he would have realised that (to date) we did NOT charge for any 'Failure to Arrive for the appointment. We are happy to share a statement summary with the writer of the review for reassurance to confirm that our software does not allow for the backdating of any transaction. We already recognised that the writer of the review had mentioned his personal position at the time of booking the appointment. What baffles us is why any patient would proceed to book any appointment when there is any level of uncertainty of attending the appointment. We ask patients to consider their own personal circumstances, as the practice is not in control of this, and any suggestion of the sort would be inappropriate. We always send a reminder to patients 72 hours before any appointment, then give them 48 hours to call or email us to cancel or rebook any appointment. Beyond that, it is for each patient to consider his or her own circumstance on how to proceed. What we cannot do, is absorb the costs and losses for patient convenience as we would cease to exist as a business. We are sad to see that an existing patient who attended previously, now posts a one star review on this occasion. We are glad that the writer has found a practice to meet his own personal preferences.

Negative experience: Booked a groupon for a dental scaling in 2018 and they ruined my teeth forever with an aggressive technique and approach that left my teeth marked and my gum to recede from the front lower teeth. I keep my dental health to a very good standard and I have always visited the dentist every 6 months back where I used to live (Italy). You can understand how surprised I was when the doctor here , after seeing the dental X-rays they took which were included in my groupon, depicted an horrific picture on the state of my teeth. She warned me I’d soon need further follow ups and treatments etc she was really trying to scare me, and sell me another visit to the clinic. I was obviously shocked but also really weary of what was going on as only 6 months before my doctor in Italy, who followed me for many years, reassured me that everything was really good. After seeing the horrific job they have done to my teeth only with a normal and routine scaling, I decided not to trust them in their scaremongering attempt, and I did not bail as they seemed a very seedy and unprofessional practice to me. So I did not panic, I didn’t follow up with them instead I kept my usual practice of seeing a dentist every 6-12 months. Well, I have seen many dentists after this experience with them in 2018, took dental X-rays as part of my annual dental check up again twice, all the dentists from different backgrounds and practice they have all agreed my teeth are really good and no further follow up were never needed. These people should not be trusted, they are seedy and are sellers rather than doctors, trying to keep you on the hook. Also, I have never ever thought it was possible to ruin teeth with a simple routine scaling otherwise I’d never have done it, the groupon discount is not worth the trouble! PS I saw another dentist soon after their appointment, to repair the aesthetic damage they created- I was quoted a 2k £ worth of damage! Not wanting to spend all the money for an aesthetic thing I’m gonna keep it as it is, but just for you to be aware: these people caused me a 2 THOUSAND pounds worth of damage..and they wanted to sell me other unnecessary treatment and follow ups making up stories and lying on the real condition of my teeth...that’s how good they are! I can’t understand all these good reviews UPDATE TO MANAGEMENT ANSWR: yours it is just a BS reply. If you are such a transparent and honest clinic, do you have pre-treatment and post- treatment pictures too? Of course you don't! That would be too dangerous as would expose you TRULY to your negligence. So stop throwing at me these lawyer-ish bunch of words and phrases that really make no sense, you repeat yourself and use a bunch of complicated words just to confuse people and intimidate even more us users and reviewers to deter us in not giving bad reviews, shame on you !

We wish to thank the writer of the review for the opportunity to respond to the comments on this Public online forum (which retains an accurate reflection of all comments posted onto Google for other businesses as well).

We find it remarkable that the writer of the review is able to recollect and confirm that the treatment (of a single event from 2 years ago) is the exact cause of all problems, when even dentists are unable to make this confirmation. The human body, teeth and gums undergo constant physiological changes and affects from daily activities. Our response is based on general information sharing, as we do not regard this as the appropriate path of discussions for patients clinical or other enquiries. We always ask patients to contact the practice directly if there are any enquiries.

1. We would strongly advise the writer of this review to have further discussions with his/her dentist before making a confirmed decision regarding his last visit, that ‘everything was really good.’ We retain accurate photographs to justify our clinical discussions, and perhaps the writers current dentist does not have all the information we have from the previous visit.
2. We use the Faculty Clinical Guidance in the UK as compared to Italy. We are unable to comment on what Guidance is used in Italy.
3. Our advice is based on the British Society of Periodontology, FacultyGuidance , BDA, NICE, DBOH guidance, IRMER and many other clinical guidance in place. Our clinicians make responsible recommendations based on these UK Guidance.
4. We cannot accept the responsibility for other dentists not advising on what we have seen at each patients visit, as each dentist would give advice based on the clinical findings at that visit and based on his/her own clinical experience. Perhaps what we saw, was not present in future visits?
5. It is not uncommon for Gum recession, post-operative changes or even sensitivity to occur after cleaning and polishing or the ‘Aggressive form of cleaning’ called Root Surface Debridement. The need for the latter or cosmetic treatment is dependent on clinical findings of future sessions and opinion of the dentist/s.
6. ‘…after seeing the dental X-rays they took...’ We ask the writer to kindly reconsider the accuracy of this comment.
7. “…they have all agreed my teeth are really good and no further follow up were never needed.” We use the NICE Guidance in the UK as is prescribed by Government Guidance, for recalls. We wonder if the writer’s (of the review) other dentists are following the same guidance. We are unable to comment unless all dentists have the same information at hand before making a clinical diagnosis and recommendation.

Overall, we cannot comment on what is best for the writer of the review or for any patient without carrying out a clinical consultation. Although everyone gets things wrong (at some level or the other), we are able to use our photographs of any visit to ensure that we can reflect on clinical findings from previous visits and correct comments wrongly posted on our reviews. We would like to wish the writer of the review the very best for his/her dental future, irrespective which dentist gives ‘good’ advice. We would strongly recommend that the writer of the review contact our practice for a copy of the Photographs (which we have for our patients) to allow him/her to be reminded of what was presented at the time of the consultation before misleading members of the public. We find it inappropriate to post incorrect reviews on our reviews page. The majority of our patients post a positive review of our practice, and we hope to reassure all potential and current patients of the high level of our services.
