Fantastic experience: As someone who is terrified of the dentist, these guys are fantastic at putting you at ease. Patricia is super at explaining the procedure and is very understanding, friendly and patient. I very much doubt I’ll get over the fear of the dentist but this practice has helped me loads. The dental nurses and reception staff are also lovely! Additional thank you to Gillian for my treatment today 4/12/25 - I cannot express how fantastic she was at making me feel comfortable. In these 3 years, she has extracted my last wisdom tooth, and had to rectify a broken molar, a procedure I have never had before. Both were painless. She is thorough and does a great job. I once had an awful dentist, so I know when I have found a great one!

Fantastic experience: Since I experienced a dreadful situation when I was 18yrs old at the dentist, I have struggled to cope when attending appointments. However news of a special occasion, last year, forced me into opening up conversation with my dentist, Patricia Carvalho at Loanhead Dental Practice. Immediately I felt I was listened to and understood, not only about the questions I had relating to my inquiries about cosmetic dentistry but a real appreciation of my worries just being at the dentist. Everything was explained to me in great detail as to the way forward. Alongside this the dental nurses and practice manager were extremely supportive, expressing warmth and kindness. My treatments were completed yesterday, Friday 21st February and I simply cannot believe the end result. I feel amazing and my teeth are nothing short of wonderful. I have never looked like this and the confidence I feel is incredible. I can’t stop looking in the mirror. I can’t thank Patricia enough for her care and understanding. Stuart did a first class job carried out with professionalism and good humour. Because of his extensive preparations the final result far exceeded my expectations. Great peace of mind to know nothing to worry about. X-rays taken to examine implants now 1 year on. All good performing well and good solid bone structure surrounding implants. Fantastic experience: I joined this practice about 18 months ago and haven't regretted it. Firstly, the hygenious gave me great advice on how to effectively floss and the reasons for not eating between meals. My dentist has also been great, in particular after my accident where my front teeth were damaged. I appreciated her empathy in what was a difficult time. Although local to me, I would recommend to those living further afield.

Fantastic experience: Can’t recommend Loanhead Dental Practice more highly. I spent a long time looking into who could help me replace veneers and help me transform my teeth and smile. Stuart Campbell is the best dentist in Edinburgh without a doubt. He is so calm and explains things so clearly every step of the way. Not only is he technically brilliant at what he does but really genuinely cares, listens, reassures and explains the process every step of the way.

Negative experience: I decided I did not want to pay £28 a month for private treatment and would rather go back to NHS treatment. I’ve been a patient there for over 10 years. A private patient for 6 months. I have been informed they are no longer taking on NHS patients and I am no longer able to be treated there ! I wasn’t informed of this when I took on the private dental plan. So I no longer have a dentist ! So beware if you decide you no longer want private treatment you will be discharged from their care. Seems slightly unethical to me. But to be honest I have had enough of this practice. Their answer to everything is … you need a white filling £££££££

Fantastic experience: Julie (hygienist) and Alison were fantastic. The air flow treatment worked amazingly to get rid of coffee stains etc and the advice on the ways to minimise plaque and to keep my gums healthy was invaluable. Also, I received a crown which was done by Jacqueline, it was a lot of work but I was made really comfortable and it has been a huge improvement for me. I cannot recommend highly enough Loanhead Dental Practice

Fantastic experience: I was introduced to Stuart by my regular dentist to consider whether I would get some implants. Over a number of visits over past 9 months, I now have two implants which are allowing me to eat at ease on both sides of my mouth. The experience from reception to surgeon and his assistants has been perfect from start to finish. From the outset, Stuart explained what he considered my best options were, and from there, each stage was carried out with attention to detail and minimum fuss. If I ever need a complex dental procedure into the future, I would have no hesitation in returning to Stuart.

He sets himself extremely high standards for dental practice. He demonstrates this as a professional dentist, but more than this, he makes you feel that you and your dentistry goals are achievable. His personal approach is totally focussed on you, he listens actively. He takes time to explain what he going to do and makes you feel totally at ease and I trust him to act in my best interests. Stuart is an exceptional example and ambassador for his profession. I have experienced dentistry in USA and Canada and Stuart is at the cutting edge of dentistry in UK.

Fantastic experience: So far so very good. I am being prepped for implants. The initial stage was to have two teeth extracted. The dentist, Gillian Ainsworth, is a professional tour de force, being confident, assured and excellent in her practice. I've been unfortunate enough in my life to suffer the trauma of extractions, but none were anything like as smooth, painless and refined as Gillian's intervention. Additionally, I have found everyone at this practice to be very kind. I reckon these practitioners are the 'A' team. Let's hope, over the next five/six moths of this onerous journey, I'm right. So far, after the fantastic treatments, the information given, the detailed report and step by step outline of the staged procedures and the professionalism and knowledge of the practitioners and dentists I have met, the implantologist being Dr. Stuart Campbell, I believe I will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I am thrilled with the treatment carried out by LDP. I was a very nervous patient but needn’t have worried. Implants were fitted by Stuart and dentures created by Gosia, clinical dental technician. I now have my smile back and can’t praise LDP enough. In particular Gosia who is simply amazing at restorative dentistry and to dental nurse Alison. Both of whom have shown incredible patience and skill during my course of treatment.

Negative experience: I was registered with Loanhead Dental Practice since moving in to the area as this was the closest practice to me. I note the near all 5-star reviews for this practice but in being honest with my experience, I feel completely let down by my particular dentist. I am an NHS patient and attended around 18-months ago due to a pain with one of my molars. After an x-ray I was informed I needed a deep filling and this was completed. I was also told I needed to book a dental hygienist appointment if I required a scale and polish (which was fair), however the price for this appointment was well over £100 and appeared to be double the price of other dental practices. Unfortunately, over the next 12 months the pain came and went and I was often getting the sensation of a smell coming from the area, the gum around the tooth was also sensitive and a small bump formed in the inside of my gum. This bump also came and went but the sensation remained. I returned to my dentist and clearly explained the above. I was given advice the amalgam filling was probably just a little lose and a white filling would provide a better fit. I was quoted £300 for this. Again, these prices appeared extortionate compared to other dental practices. No x-ray was taken to inspect the matter further and I was again advised to book a dental hygienist appointment (I was able to get a dental hygienist appointment elsewhere for £75) a couple months before this particular appointment. A couple months later, and whilst saving to pay the £300 for my white filling, I moved to a new practice and booked in for the same treatment for £150!! When I attended for my appointment, the dentist examined me and immediately stated I needed an x-ray. Within 10 minutes of being there I was diagnosed with a significant infection in the tooth with an abscess on the gum (this was the bump) and an infection in to the root resulting in damage to the tissue in the bone structures around the tooth. The abscess was drained and I was immediately given root canal treatment followed by a second root canal 10 days later. The pain and sensations have completely gone! I cannot help thinking that my dentist at least prioritised pushing private treatments ahead of properly diagnosing the issue months before it was easily identified at another practice. I would not recommend this practice sorry.

Technically, it was clear they know exactly what they’re doing but, as important, the process was fully explained throughout. I’m really pleased with the outcome. Other than annual checkups, I don’t think I’ll need their services but would use again if the need arose in future. Friendly staff, appointments on time.

A television on the wall of the waiting room showed the different procedures that the surgery does plus a running ticket tape of the latest news from around the world. Also there are photos of all the staff and what they do within the practice Without a doubt the professionalism of all the staff is excellent with good advice given. One member of staff even came in on her day off off to fit my partial denture

Fantastic experience: I am in the middle of a course of treatment involving a dental implant and had to have a temporary partial denture fitted during the process to replace the missing tooth. Malgorzata , the Clinical Dental Technician explained everything clearly and ensured the denture was comfortable and fitted perfectly. After a few weeks my gum changed and Malgorzata constructed a new denture that was perfect ensuring I was spared any embarrassment while waiting for my gum to be ready for the next stage in the process.She took great care throughout and I would highly recommend her.
