Fantastic experience: Karen examined my teeth thoroughly and recorded all the numbers, as well as cleaning and polishing them. She got at the bits I can't reach.

Negative experience: Today’s appointment was Firstly, a check up and then the hygienist, It’s a new hygienist and it was the first time I’ve had experience this Hygienist didn’t really found her very professional Slightly hesitant and kept saying sorry to me Also, I don’t think the water sucking machine was working so I’ve got covered with water. To improve, I think this hygienist needs to talk to the patient more and guide through the treatment and timings. Maybe better experience next time

Positive experience: Much as we'd love to have an NHS dentist, we don't - and therefore a private dentist is our only option (without reverting to string and doorknobs). Thankfully, the care we have received at Queen's Road has always been excellent and the staff are all very helpful, polite and friendly - it's just the private costs that hurt you, not the dental work.

Negative experience: NOV 2025 UPDATE: Part 2 was previously removed, now reinstated. See at end. No conclusions or opinions are given, just a statement of facts. I do not want any apologies. Relevant parties are free to challenge the facts individually. ---- I was here for over 30 years No repairs of any kind, no fillings, no toothaches, negligible sensitivity and never used any sensitivity products. On leaving my dentist Faheem Janjua's room after a checkup on 04/04/2024, he asked which hygienist I was seeing next. When I replied Saanya Idris, he twice stated, without giving reason, that I could have anyone I wanted. Idris said that scrapes were old fashioned, and performed water jet cleaning. Then she changed her mind and performed a rough scrape as well. She slipped causing pain which nearly made me jump off the chair. Finally she rinsed my mouth repeatedly telling me to swallow until I had drunk about half a litre. At home, I saw a puncture wound inside my cheek which had been bleeding. Over the next 36 hours various other pains escalated to an unbearable level. I telephoned QRDC reception to change the hygienist for September. I heard an exclamation of panic, and the receptionist provided new bookings for almost the same times as the originals. She did not ask for my reason but recorded the change as "personal circumstance". ---- Ten days later I returned to see the dentist Nuwanthi Nanson about the pain, which I briefly described as cold sensitivity and widespread fluctuating toothaches. She found several gum injuries, and suggested sensitive toothpaste. I had never used this so she instructed me. She proposed resin patches on my gums stating that they would fall off in two months, then changing this to five months. After agreeing, I asked directly whether they were permanent. She became angry and confirmed that they were. I changed my mind - this was a significant repair based on no knowledge of what actually happened: up to this point she had suppressed any conversation regarding the treatment given. A quiet period had arrived, so I stated again that I had no problems before the recent treatment. She replied that it was "just co-incidence". She asked how I brushed my teeth. I replied that I moved the Oral-B electric toothbrush in small circles while moving sideways. She stated that this was wrong and gave a lengthy tutorial: the brush should remain stationary on the tooth, letting the brush do the work, then lifting and moving to the next tooth. I remained silent throughout this. My long term brushing technique had never before caused any problem. Finally, she asked approximately three high level leading questions. I had given up and I was in pain and needed to leave, so I agreed to the built-in answers. ---- A week later, I was still in pain and now in distress. At this point there was no record at QRDC that I had been injured or was dissatisfied. I needed to have confidence that any dentist would be prepared to consider all the facts in order to determine what was wrong, so I wrote a letter to leave QRDC. This was my concluding statement: ".... I am writing to ensure that my complaint is properly recorded. I am not happy with the situation and am concerned about long term damage and pain. I am seeking help elsewhere and will no longer undergo any treatment by your practice, however kindly retain all previous records. I have cancelled the direct debit. I will not enter personally into any further discussion." ---- I received a letter from the hygienist Saanya Idris in which she stated she was not aware that I was experiencing any sensitivity and that if I told her then she would have changed her technique. There was no mention of her slipping causing wounds or of the bleeding. ---- As part of a full examination at a new dental practice, I was asked how I brushed my teeth. I replied exactly as I did at QRDC, and the dentist said that it was perfect. CONTINUED IN REVIEW BY "ALEX P"....

My dentist Jamillah make me feel relaxed and at ease. Her work is second to none. I met Karen my new hygienist for the first time all I can say is Wow! Negative experience: BY ALEX P ...FOLLOWS FROM A.O. : ...At a new dental practice, I was asked how I brushed my teeth. I replied exactly as I did at QRDC, and the dentist said that it was perfect. ---- I was subsequently referred to a dental surgeon who diagnosed nerve damage and recommended tricyclic medicine. Trauma was deferred on the basis that pain was widespread, not localised. No scan was taken. I have used Amytriptyline, Pregabalin, Paroxetine and currently (November 2025) Nortriptyline, which all have serious side effects. At one point I stopped medication briefly but the pain escalated. Overall the pains have been chronic headache, cold sensivity, toothache, and oddly also a feeling that teeth are loose and tender in the roots but only when closing my jaw. ---- Dental workers must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). The GDC's mission statement is to protect the public. I made a complaint to the GDC. They confirmed receipt of material including the independant surgeon's report. The case was closed with no action. Included in the reasoning: "sensitivity is a recognised symptom following scaling...it will normally subside after a few days". "the care supplied to you was below the expected level for some aspects of the care, but the standard of practice was not unsatisfactory" The hygienist Saanya Idris is still authorised to practice, GDC registration 312807, as can be found by searching the public register. She has a public linkedin profile (drsaanyaidris). The photo is many years out of date.

Fantastic experience: Had an appointment for a wisdom tooth removal, Jamilla (dentist) and Summer (nurse) were excellent, explained everything in detail. Positive experience: My last visits to the practice have been fine ,but I cannot say that about my previous visits about 6 months ago. I feel that some of the treatment I received was incompetent, and cost me the price of a replacement crown and bridge which I was assured was strong enough. My latest treatment is to sort out that now broken crown and bridge. My family have been using the practice since its very early days , but I'm afraid at the moment we are considering an alternative option.

Fantastic experience: What started off as registering with the Queen’s Road Dental Care due to an urgent dental issue, been with them for the last two years and haven’t looked back. Like a lot of people, I get scared of going to a dentist and before the Queen’s Road Dental Care (especially with my dentist Manju Skariah and her dental assistant Frankie, they put me at ease from the initial appointment. Both Manju and Frankie are so lovely and professional and Manju is exceptional at explaining what dental works are required, recommendation, going through options with me and just putting my mind at total ease. She was the first ever dentist to really listen to my concerns (I essentially get a bit scared of the anaesthetic needle in my gum as it’s so painful!) and put processes in place to minimise the pain. She always makes sure it’s fully numbed before start working on my teeth and gives me much needed breathers in between the work being carried out. When I first went to them, I needed a lot of fillings due to avoiding dentist for years, 2 years since my first visit, my last two check up were very quick and smooth and I can genuinely and honestly say Manju and Frankie worked their magic to make my teeth feel like I don’t have any filings! The price is steeper than NHS but in my opinion, has been worth every penny! Thank you so much! (And to the ladies in the reception, who are always so lovely each time I visit!)

However, the banding is a joke, putting me up 2 bands without consultation, receiving a letter in the post, and when I express that I'll leave then to be dropped down a band. You need to look after your long service customers and this isn't the way to do it.
