I joined the practice over 4 years ago and went through complex treatment plan which included root treatment, crown replacement and Invisalign treatment. It was a long process but so worth it. Richard and all the team were absolutely amazing throughout entire process and extremely professional, explaining exactly each step of the treatment. The results look completely natural—nothing fake or “turkey teeth” about it—just a healthy, confident smile I’m proud to show. The Invisalign process was smooth from start to finish, and I always felt well-cared-for throughout my visits. If you’re looking for a dentist who combines skill, attention to detail, and genuine care for their patients, this is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: I am a happy and contented client of York Place Dental and have been for many years. Everyone is greeted in a polite and respectful manner, plus, All staff members are courteous, friendly, even cheery which is most helpful if you're feeling anxious. Most of all, though, they are Professional and it shows; from the knowledge of their individual trades to the smartness and cleanliness of their uniforms, scrubs and business like attire in front of house. Overall, the cleanliness of the practise is outstanding: Main entrance, Waiting area, [with soft music] Surgeries, Offices and Toilet are Top class, 100% , I take my hat off to the Cleaning lady. I cannot find Anything that would cause me to be concerned about, in fact, I have witnessed other clients' facial expressions as they enter and leave..their expressions say it all..... it's not just me, it's All of us. Highly recommended.

Recently I have been looked after by Ryan who is absolutely brilliant. He is so friendly and attentive and really puts you at ease. He explains everything he is doing and why and I can honestly say he has made going almost a pleasure as I used to be very apprehensive, but I can honestly say he has made it seem so easy and virtually painless. Fantastic experience: Massive 'thank you' to my amazing dentist Richard Hellen and the team at York Place Dental in Carlisle. I have hated my front teeth for a long time - they were chipped, discoloured and had never been straight. l felt self conscious and hated having my photo taken. After discussions with Richard about options available to me l decided to have some veneers put onto some of my top teeth - what a transformation! My self esteem has improved greatly and now l feel so much happier and more confident. Moving to York Place Dental was one of the best decisions l have ever made. All the staff there are amazing, the minute you walk through the door you are made to feel at ease. I wouldn't go anywhere else now - l can't recommend them highly enough!!

Fantastic experience: I've been a patient at York Place Dental since 1994 under Richard as my dentist providing ongoing advice and treatment and have always found the whole team to be professional and always friendly from the moment I enter to the moment I leave. I've never had any problems when making appointments, and reception team are always friendly when I'm contacted and offered to bring appointments forward when they've had other cancellations at short notice. March 2022 Update: I also like the fact Richard has equipped surgery with new technology and can now provide 3D camera imaging that is kept on patient file for reference to show you any potential dental problems in the future if / when they arise so future treatment can be planned / foreseen. He clearly explained what the image showed etc., and having the 3D camera imaging will be part of regular checkups for patients. March 2024 Update: I've also now been treated by their newest dentist, Ryan, since February 2023, when I met him for the first time, (although he's been at YPD since 2021), and saw him again today. Ryan remembered me from a year ago. He is very friendly and welcoming as all the team are. Great sense of humour, always smiling and laughing, takes an interest in what his patient's have planned for the day to make conversation - either working and / or relaxing, and definitely a great addition to the team. Gold star for recruiting him Richard - keep hold of Ryan and don't let him leave YPD.

Fantastic experience: Before consulting with Richard at York Place, I’d initially spoken with my own dentist about braces. I was told that my case was complex and would require fixed brace orthodontics, and that they, an Invisalign only provider, wouldn't be able to help. I looked in to fixed brace providers, and came across York Place. Given my own dentists comments, I was very surprised when during my consultation Richard actually suggested Invisalign! Richard was incredibly confident Invisalign would work for me, and feeling reassured I decided to go down this route - and I’m so glad I did. I’m over the moon with my results. Richard really is an expert in this field - and a perfectionist! The practice is fantastic, all the team are very friendly and you’re made to feel so welcome and comfortable in every visit. If you’re thinking about getting some work done with YPD, please don’t hesitate! I only wish I’d done it sooner.

I rang around a few practices to enquire about possible treatment and from the moment I spoke to the lovely receptionist at YPD, I knew I had made the right choice! She reassured me from the start and dispelled any concerns I may have had. I met Ryan on my first appointment and he very quickly put me at ease explaining my treatment in great detail. Fantastic experience: In short this is a really good practice I write my review targeted at anyone who is considering leaving an NHS practice: I left an NHS practice as I could see the standard of care falling over the last few years and I wasn't happy with the treatment they were offering me. I also didn't like the lack of compassion that the NHS dentist showed towards me, Being told off for poor oral hygiene by a dentist is one thing but after being told off for moving after the dentist positioned the light that was when I decided it was time to move dentists! I looked for reviews online and found York Place very well reviewed. I was a little suspicious why they had so many reviews compared to other local practices but I've since found that they ask new patients (and probably all patients) to leave a review. I decided to wait a while so I could see what their treatment was like before leaving my review. From initial contact as a new patient through all the treatment I've had so far I am really happy. Its a private practice so you get all the advantages that you would expect over an NHS practice, in that everything from the comfort of the dental chairs, the waiting room through to the quality of the stereo they play music on is just a bit more premium, you can request what you would like to watch on the ceiling mounted TV ( Friends seems to be the default choice) or probably what music they have on. On their own you wouldn't care but together it all just adds up to a much more relaxing and premium experience. Its quite a small practice so you get a more friendly feel, I've never had a dentist shake my hand before which I thought was a nice touch. Since its quite small you always deal with the same people. For example when they ring me to discuss scheduling an appointment its always the same person I deal with (Jess). My dentist Ryan has been fantastic, he has altered his dental techniques to suit me which has made a dramatic improvement to my experience and the care that I am able to have. You can tell he is passionate about giving you the best care possible using the most advanced new techniques that are available. Getting a filling here is way more advanced than anything I've experienced before, the checkup/new patient exam more in depth than anything the NHS has ever provided. Downsides, Its probably about time they moved on from the check in and waiting outside thing which is a Covid protection. Its ok when its warm but at -5c I wasn't a massive fan of that! Compared to what I'm used to paying for NHS `Care` its a lot more expensive but its still good value. I'm happy to spend the money as you can see where the money is going. Dramatically improved care. Anyone thinking of leaving NHS dental care and joining this practice. Do It!
