Fantastic experience: Wow Admittedly this is my first time of experiencing a private dentist, but oh wow I'm excited to go back!!! I had moved to the area, but not had chance to register with a dentist when I broke one of my teeth, but they fit me in as an emergency within a couple of days! Just amazing! The dentist was so lovely, so polite, so relaxing and extremely informative. I've never been to see a dentist and been so overwhelmed at the whole experience. Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing dental practice. I saw Mike Wapplington for root canal treatment which I was anxious about as a nervous patient. But he immediately put me at ease when I first met him. His friendly and professional manner made me feel relaxed from the start and I could have fallen asleep during the treatment as I was so comfortable and it was pain free throughout! Negative experience: What the hell has happened to this practice?! I've been with this dentists for years but really don't understand how it's gone downhill so quickly. From the silly nonsense parking procedure they have in place now, the random text messages and the constant changing of appointments right down to the price increases that no one was informed of. Yesterday's experience with the practice manager and principal dentist was a real joke. Since I've been with this practice I have had a crack on one of my lower back teeth which over the years and by all of the dentists including the one i saw yesterday, I've been told that they won't fill it as doing so will weaken the tooth and eventually they would end up removing it if we went down that route. So no point in filling it and it causes me no discomfort. This has always been backed up by x-rays. Yesterday after being spoken to like I was a child in a primary school art class and not being able to get many words in, the dentist announces that she plans to fill the cracked tooth, no x-rays, no conversation about how that tooth feels at the moment, just a money driven decision obviously. The very same tooth she had told me in the past that they wouldn't disturb which was also confirmed by her colleagues! Not only that but she wants to fill another that i have no problem with and again not backed up by any x-rays, new or previous ones. So what has happened Albert Road? Are you now on a commission based salaries, because yesterday's experience sure wasn't about dental health! You can't charge premium prices without offering a premium service I'm afraid.

As the Practice Manager, I did not have the opportunity to meet you personally during your visit, but I would very much appreciate the chance to discuss your experience directly and address your concerns in more detail.
Please be assured that no treatment provided at our practice is commission-based. While monitoring is sometimes appropriate, our clinicians always aim to intervene before any condition worsens and becomes detrimental to your oral health — or more costly to you in the long term. Oral health can change over time, and circumstances may arise that require treatment which was not previously necessary. Radiographs are only taken when clinically justified and are not always required for diagnosis. All treatment recommendations are made solely on clinical grounds and in the best interests of each patient.
Regarding the parking system, changes were introduced to ensure spaces remain available for our patients. Patients are also welcome to opt out of appointment reminder messages should they prefer.

Negative experience: I have been a loyal customer for over 35 years and never encountered any issues—until now. Fast forward to 2025: new practice owners, new dentists, and unfortunately, no sense of familiarity. Throughout the years, I have taken great care of my dental health and have consistently been complimented by my previous dentists. As a result, I was typically only required to attend check-ups every 9 to 12 months. Recently, I was seen by Manisha. While she was friendly, something felt “off.” I found her to be pushy and overconfident. She informed me that I needed two fillings, despite the fact that just six months earlier my former dentist had assured me my teeth were fine and only suggested I return if any issues arose within the following year. I left that appointment feeling uneasy. Manisha pointed out some decay in one tooth and recommended a filling, which I booked. Since I had no pain, I questioned whether it was truly necessary. Unfortunately, I went ahead—and this is where I wish I could turn back time. The filling procedure was extremely traumatic. Despite the initial injection, I could still feel my tooth, so she administered two additional injections. Afterward, my face and scalp remained numb for three days. Concerned, I contacted an emergency dentist (at a cost of £95 for a five-minute phone call), who suggested that the needle may have hit a nerve. I also developed a large, painful hematoma on my jaw. I reported this to the practice and was promised a call back from Manisha that same evening, which never came. She eventually called several days later. By that time, I had endured days of numbness and tingling, which later spread down my arm and leg. My doctor suspected damage to my trigeminal nerve but reassured me it should improve with time. Nearly seven weeks later, the symptoms are only now beginning to ease. This experience caused me to have panic attacks, sleepless nights, and daily use of pain relief. To make matters worse, my tooth feels far worse since the filling. My new dentist took an X-ray, which clearly shows how close to the nerve the filling was placed. This has left me unable to chew on that side of my mouth. A root canal had even been suggested by Manisha at a cost of £750. If I were to have this procedure at my new dentist, the cost is £438 maximum. A difference of £312!(I'll save you the trouble of the calculation). This experience has left me deeply disappointed. The practice appears to prioritize profit over patient care. If you are going to charge premium prices, you must ensure your staff deliver premium-level treatment. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but. An awful experience all around—and one I will not repeat.
We are sorry to learn that your recent experience with our practice did not meet your expectations. This is certainly not the standard of care or service we strive to provide to any of our patients, whether new or long-standing. The practice changed ownership three years ago, and since that time, patient care and ongoing investment in the practice have remained our foremost priorities. While I’ve been unable to reach you directly, I would truly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you personally to better understand your concerns and see how we can make things right.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience this morning. Unfortunately I had to have a rear tooth removed, nevertheless the Dentist - Manisha and Dental Nurse - Trudi both enabled me to understand what was going to happen and what was happening during the procedure. Of course with such a procedure I felt apprehensive when I arrived, the Dentist was new to me too. However I needn’t have been apprehensive at all as both were very friendly, comfortably chatted with me and quickly put me at my ease. Having attended the Practice for many many years now, enjoyed having lovely dentists and experienced many changes over those years. I wouldn’t recommend having a tooth removed !!! But I would recommend this Dental Practice

Fantastic experience: Today, I received root canal treatment at this practice. Arriving with previous experience from elsewhere, I wasn’t looking forward to the process. However, I can honestly say that my nearly two hour experience in the care of Sandra and Mr Waplington was truly amazing. No pain, discomfort or concerns as my wellbeing during the complex procedure appeared to be their prime concern. At the time of writing this five hours later, I cannot believe that today I had root canal treatment, such was the skill of these professionals. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Despite the treatment I needed to have not being very pleasant, the dentist, Bindi (& her assistant) were gentle & respectful of me at all times. I felt as relaxed & reassured as I could possibly be & was kept informed of what was about to happen next throughout the appointment. The whole team at Albert Road, including the reception staff, are professional and friendly. The waiting area is clean, tidy & has a relaxed feel to it. There is usually plenty of free parking outside the dentist, available for 2 hours.
