Greenwich Dental Referral Practice

Fantastic experience: I recently finished my implant treatment at this clinic and wanted to recommend Dr Vam Nagala. Prior to being recommended Dr Vam by a family friend, I have undergone a few consultations but felt the most comfortable with Dr Vam and his treatment plan as well as I specifically wanted a Straumann implant after doing my research. The implant procedure is done in stages to allow enough downtime for the healing between surgeries, and took just under a year to complete from the initial consultation. My experience was virtually pain free, for the most part its uncomfortable. Dr Vam is very experienced and knowledgeable, and unlike at my other consultations I've never felt he rushed through the consultation, was always open to any questions (and I had many) and extremely patient with explaining each stage of the process. I'm really happy with the end result and with finding such a professional implantologist amongst so many in London.

Positive experience: Greenwich Referral Practice provided a friendly service. Booking with the hygienist does require a telephone call and pre-payment, which isn’t always the most convenient method, but it’s made clear in advance. The team offered clear advice on oral hygiene without feeling health shamed. The clean and polish itself was quick and gentle. It’s a straightforward process from arriving to leaving, with everything feeling organised and well-managed. Overall, a good experience and one I would use again.

Positive experience: Love my dentist at this practice, Dr Jagatiya, but sadly, like other reviewers on this page, have found the experience of dealing with Dr Mangat extremely unpleasant. I would not recommend that anyone sees the orthodontist at this practice.

Fantastic experience: I had a root canal filling today with Tala. I was very nervous like most people. I need not have worried Tala was absolutely amazing. She put me at ease and was very kind and reassuring. Very professional and talked me through what was happening. I had no pain during the procedure as I was asked several times if everything was OK and any more pain relief. I cannot recommend her enough. I am back again in couple of months to have my tooth fitted with a crown. I will be going to Tala again for this. Thank you again Tala and team

Negative experience: Chased them for 2 weeks. My dentist referred me about 4 times and every single time they couldn’t find my referral even when it was sent to all emails they provided themselves. Ended up going elsewhere.

During a visit, the mother of a young patient—had a serious health scare that required immediate emergency intervention. The dental team’s response was nothing short of heroic. They acted with incredible speed, skill, and composure, providing emergency care to stabilize the woman while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It was clear that they were highly trained for such situations, but what stood out most was their kindness and reassurance—not just to the woman but also to the understandably distressed child. As a bystander, I was deeply moved by how the team worked together seamlessly under pressure. Their professionalism and humanity turned a terrifying moment into one where everyone involved felt supported and cared for. The staff in this clinic are extraordinary people who genuinely care about their patients. I have so much respect and admiration for what they did that day—thank you for going above and beyond.

Fantastic experience: My wife attended the practice yesterday for root canal treatment. She is petrified of dentists and hospitals. Dr MacSweeney was not only able ease her anxiety but carried out the treatment using only local anesthetics. In short he was absolutely brilliant - thank you so much. The treatment was not cheap but well worth it. The agonising pain is subsiding and my wife is starting to get back to normal.

Negative experience: One of the worst dental experiences I've had. I needed a follow up root canal and so was referred to this practice by my dentist. Having had the same treatment only a few weeks prior, I thought I would know what to expect. Dr. Macsweeny was 20 minutes late seeing me for my 1 hour appointment. As a result, I could tell he was trying to rush through the treatment to finish within the hour. My pain tolerance is fairly high but the overly aggressive manner he used to carry out the treatment left me feeling quite violated. In addition to this, his tools were being haphazardly dropped on my chest when they weren't in use. The follow up from this appointment has been incredibly slow and I have had to chase up the summary letter twice- on which they've spelt my name incorrectly. Would strongly advise against using this dental practice.

Negative experience: Complete failed treatment. I endured 3 long wasted years of Invisalign treatment under Nik Mangat before he concluded that it was not going to straighten my teeth as he had promised and after all that time my teeth had hardly moved at all. At the start of the treatment he gave me a device to put on my teeth for 20 minutes a day, that he told me would speed up the movement required which I used, every single day for 3 years. Every Single Day None of it made any difference whatsoever. Mangat wasted my time for 3 years and he had to give me all my money back. How on earth he got his qualifications is anyone's guess. An absolute cowboy. My experience is that he is not fit to practice. I wish I hadn't gone anywhere near this awful practice.

Negative experience: Senior Orthodontist Dr Harneet Mangat is a rude, condescending, unprofessional bully. If you are stuck having to use this practise as an NHS patient, please do all you can to have him no where near your care. If you are paying for private treatment please look elsewhere. My teenage daughter has been under this practice for the last 18 months, and on EVERY visit my wife or I have taken her, he has always been heard either shouting down a patient, or member of his team in front of the patient they are seeing!! It is a hugely unhealthy and unprofessional environment, but he seems to have the approach that as NHS patients we should be grateful to be treated as 3rd class citizens. Quite why the staff accept being bullied in the workplace is beyond me, but noting that the main aggressor is also the chair of the General Dental Council's fitness to practise panel possibly speaks of futility to anyone that would dare complain. If you have children that need orthodontic care, please think very carefully before allowing this man into your children's lives, and certainly never let him talk to your child without you being present. This still wont stop him reducing your child and possibly you to tears. Over the last 18 months, I have no evidence to suggest that her should even be allowed to talk to children let alone treat them.

Negative experience: They just want your money - beware! I booked a consultation appointment for Monday 16th Oct - I had to pay £50 deposit, which was fine. My circumstance changed, I phoned in to cancel on 11th, asked for refund to go back to my credit card, they said they can only refund back to my bank (?),not the card (why?) within 2-3 weeks. At end of 3rd week, I emailed and asked about my refund (they quoted 2-3 weeks, which I said we are already at end of 3rd week). Nothing happened of course. Today is end of the 4th week (28 days later), still no refund. If they don't refund within 7 days, I will have to file complaint through relevant authorities including Dental Bodied and Trading Standards & make dispute with my Credit Card provider.

Fantastic experience: Greenwich Dental Referral is amazing! Dr Rory MacSweeny the Endodontist is amazing! He is very knowledgeable about what he does and is always learning! I am a nervous patient and in Dr Rory’s care that was vanished! He takes his time and also cares! I have been back to him twice now for a root canal and I would not go anywhere else. I felt very confident & relaxed with him carrying out the root canal. Dr Rory did my root canal in literally 25 minutes no joke! And I also take a while to numb and he was very patient and caring as I’ve had such bad experiences elsewhere. I felt no pain at all! He makes sure you don’t feel anything. Definitely recommend! Also the receptionist is very nice! Thank you so much for a good experience at the dentist!

Negative experience: The receptionist is very impatient. She can't even let me finish my talking just to hand up the phone. Really hard to be convinced that I would receive proper treatment at this clinic.

Fantastic experience: I was seen by Dr Rory McSweeney the Endodontist who was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable, professional, honest, kind and caring. He also has a fantastic sense of humour. I felt so at ease and confident with him carrying out the procedure & even got to listen to relaxing music. Dr Rory did my root canal in literally 20 minutes. It was pain-free and I nearly fell asleep as I was so relaxed. Dr Rory was brilliant and having over 20 years of expertise. He was able to do all the treatment in one appointment & it was money well worth spent. Also the Dental nurse was really lovely too as was Vel the receptionist who has always been so helpful, kind, caring and very professional at her job. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Doctor Rory MacSweeney who carried out an excellent Root Canal treatment for me, he is both highly experienced and thinking for the patient, someone I could fully trust. local anesthetic injection were done at a steady pace, I feel no pain at all during injection and during the procedure. Doctor Rory care to went extra miles to investigate and communicate the best treatment plan, this not only cured my dental pain in the short term but also saved me from lots of dental pain in the long term.

This is what all dentists should be like. Negative experience: I was referred here by the dentist a few doors down for cosmetic dentistry likely to cost "up to 10k". I thought it odd that I had to pay half the £100 consultation fee in advance to secure the appointment but went along with it because I imagine no-shows must cost them a lot. On arrival, the door was locked. I was met and allowed inside once they realised I had an appointment. I think they were on break. Receptionist: I need to take your deposit. Me: I paid that when I made the appointment. Receptionist: I meant take your payment. Me: Usually you pay for the service after it happens. Receptionist: I don't make the rules, darling. They quite literally do. Me: I'm not going to prepay everything. Receptionist: Then he won't see you. Me: You should have told me that when you booked the appointment on the phone. At this point, I'm irritated. Why can't I just pay when I'm done, like every other service in Greenwich? I'd just been told the dentist is running late with someone else's Invisalines. I ask for a refund, which they agree to. To give me a refund, I need a physical card. I don't have one but I'm petty so walk home, in the rain, to get it. All in all, a bad experience from start to finish, and I didn't even get to see a dentist. It's annoying but, if you're about to handover thousands, it's important that the relationship is right and we were obviously not well matched. Didn't like paying half the fee before getting there, but understood why. Didn't like feeling like an unwanted hawker at the front door. Didn't like paying the full fee on arrival, still no idea why that's a requirement. Really didn't like being called darling. Appreciated the willingness to give me a refund. But I took an hour out of work and have nothing to show for it. I just wanted to chat to a dentist and it shouldn't be this hard. Bad experience, wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience: I had braces applied at this his dentist years ago and following a few years treatment I finally had my braces removed in 2016. A few months later I had lost my upper retainer and had contacted the receptionist to get my get a replacement and was told that unfortunately the soonest appointment they could give me was in three months time ( they are supposed to book the appointment with urgency to drop teeth shifting !) needless to say by the time I was booked in for my retainer appointment my teeth had shifted and my gap had already returned. The dentist agreed that as the administrator had clearly made an error in not booking me in sooner they would cover the cost of trays to align my teeth , when I got to the last tray I called reception to let them know that the treatment had not worked and a gap still remained and they let me know they would speak to the dentist and get back to me . Months passed and this did not happen even after trying to follow up several times . At the time I was 19/20 dealing with health issues and buried in university work and didn’t really advocate for myself / know I was well within my rights to take some type of legal action/compensation and it is regrettable . Nevertheless I will have to look for dental treatment elsewhere soon but will not be returning to this dentist as I feel they operated in bad faith when it came to orthodontic aftercare .

He put my mind to ease after more than a month of consecutive dental issues with my previous dental practice and he finally gave me some answers on why the complications occurred. Fantastic experience: The staff are very helpful, polite and friendly. They take time to explain the treatment and give advice on what's needed. Appointment times are kept to and regular reminders are sent out. Pre treatment Forms are completed online before the appointment, so the practice can be covid safe. Came here because 2 previous dentist told me I needed a crown replacement but luckily the X-ray showed that the crown and the tooth underneath are fine. Fantastic experience: I had a root canal and it was a breeze. Not many people can say that! Excellent work. The dentist, Rory MacSweeney is a genius. The treatment was painless, quick and with very little adverse after effects. It was also cheaper than I expected as the revolutionary approach meant drilling through the existing crown, necessitating only a minor filling to conclude the treatment, rather than a new crown and, therefore, a much longer and more expensive outcome. Fantastic experience: I had suffered for 3 months with excruciating tooth, nerve and jaw pain. I required a root canal in my molar tooth which my regular dentist was unable to perform due to the complexities and issues I was experiencing with my trigeminal nerve. Rory MacSweeney is a dental ninja and performed the procedure confidently and professionally and although the procedure was uncomfortable (what root canal is comfortable?), I experienced no pain. I'm so grateful to have found Rory and now feel that normal life can resume once again.

Fantastic experience: Visited today for a consultation on doing a possible re-root canal treatment.Dr Rory carried out a through consultation with me, told me everything I needed to know and listened to my questions/concerns whilst being very sensitive to my serious anxieties about having any kind of dental treatment- never mind something this complex. Fantastic experience: This practice is by far the best that I’ve attended. I had a few urgent issues that needed fixing, ones created by other practices around the same area... Ana Luisa De Souza has been great, showing genuine care and will do anything to fit you in and relieve of any discomfort. I also needed a root canal. I had a consultation with Rory MacSweeney on the Friday and having listened to my discomfort, completely re-arranged his Saturday to ensure the full root canal was done, less than 24 hours after the consultation (and his last working day before the Christmas break). These guys really know what they are doing and I’m sure I will not be attending anywhere else from now on!

Treatment quality is excellent, and the whole team including dental nurses and reception staff were very professional and helpful throughout the process. I have a gag reflex issue and Dr Vam and team were very accommodating and handled it extremely well, including arranging a sedation specialist to come into the practice on two occasions. The implant fits perfectly and I am very happy with the result. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: Today I saw the hygienist at greenwich referral practice, she made me feel so welcome and spoke to me throughout my whole appointment, making me almost forget I am petrified of the dentist!! What an amazing woman, and an amazing job she had done, my teeth feel brand new!! I will definitely be recommending her to my friends and family .

Negative experience: My partner is trying to get a implant fitted at this dentists, after already spending over £800 in 'pre-treatment' ready for an implant, but now we are ready for the implant the appointments keep being suddenly cancelled even after we have taken time off work to attend. We have now given up trying to see this 'imaginary' implant specialist and have appointments lined up with a professional dentist. DO NOT visit this dentist as the service is shockingly bad and certainly NOT cheap, they do NOT want your custom! Thank you for the reply over 1 YEAR after my original post!? My partner has had the implant fitted at a different dentist and is really pleased with the result, so you lost £3,000 in my business by cancelling the appointment. I understand that sometimes appointments have to be rescheduled, but we were given 5 minutes notice of the cancellation and was told the appointment was cancelled as we arrived at the surgery! You really need to change your reception staff and run a more efficient service.

Fantastic experience: Lovely, well mannered and welcoming receptionist. Went to see the Hygienist, very thorough procedure and gave full oral hygine instructions on how to take care of my teeth. and came out with my teeth feeling so clean and fresh. Highly reccomend!
