Fantastic experience: I recently changed to this dentist and I have to say the treatment and support has been excellent. Special mention to Karen who puts up with my nonsense and Shirley, the friendly face in reception.

Fantastic experience: Have been a customer for several years here. The newer management have improved on what was already a very high standard of service. All staff are very personable and accommodating. Have had a fair amount of work on my teeth in the time I have been here - everything has been comfortable, and built to last. The only time an adjustment was needed after a filling, it was fixed more or less as soon as I mentioned it. The calm and gentle approach, which the staff have across the board, helps a lot.

Fantastic experience: As someone who was afraid of the dentist for a long time, i am so glad i happened to chose this practice. Jenny is very kind and makes sure you are informed with what’s going on, which makes the experience easier to go through. I no longer dread the dentist!

Fantastic experience: I can't rate this dental practice highly enough! I was travelling up to Edinburgh for a wedding and the crown on my front tooth fell off. Obviously this was a very stressful situation for me. When I phoned up for an emergency appointment Shirley the receptionist was so kind, soothing and reassuring. They fit me in on the same day and when I asked about the cost she was more than happy to speak to the dentist and reassure me. When I saw Ross the dentist, he was kind and friendly and very knowledgeable, putting me at ease throughout the treatment; he explained what he was doing throughout. Not only did he fit my crown back on, he also discussed the reason that it may have come off and options for the future even though he isn't my regular dentist. Everyone in the practice clearly care about their patients!

Fantastic experience: I had a temporary filling come loose and didn't have a dentist in Edinburgh having recently moved here. I feel very lucky to have found Polwarth dental clinic. Shirley was very kind and patient on the phone with me and managed to get me an emergency appointment the very next day. My dentist Jenny was excellent - very kind and obviously skillful. Fantastic experience: I cracked a tooth / filling a few nights ago. Although not in pain it felt terrible and I was really keen to get it repaired as soon as possible. Unfortunately my regular dentist couldn’t help for at least a week. I phoned Polwarth Dental Practice and the receptionist Shirley explained their emergency service and was able to give me an appointment within a couple of hours of my call. Jenny the Dentist was able to repair my broken tooth during the appointment. I can’t speak highly enough about the standard of service I received from all the team at Polwarth Dental Practice.

Fantastic experience: After years of putting off treatment whilst being under NHS, I have been coming to Polwarth Dental for 18 months now since I moved to Edinburgh and always receive excellent care. Particularly since Dr Ross took over. He is really patient with me and not at all patronising or judgemental (as I’ve experienced previously). He was very professional, as always, and ensured that I was comfortable throughout the entire appointment. What impressed me the most was how clearly he communicated with me, despite me knowing very little terminology in dentistry and English not being my first language. He was patient and ensured that I understood everything that was happening. Overall, I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a professional, caring and effective dentist. Fantastic experience: Great dentist with experience, reception staff and assistants are lovely and professional. All dental plan was explained to me clearly and estimate is given in advance each visit so I know what to expect. Practice itself looks great too, clean and cosy looking. It’s such a difference to my previous experience when I would feel rushed, job was done but very little explained. I appreciated guide on how to properly brush, I feel like since changing my method my gums improved and teeth are less sensitive.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend this dentist enough! After explaining that getting dental treatment makes me nervous due to a bad past experience, they did a fantastic job reassuring me and even played some ACDC for me after asking my favourite band. Fantastic experience: My family and I have been with this practice for years and have always received a very friendly, honest and highly professional service. Over the years I have personally required need of a bite guard, fillings, porcelain fillings, root canal and extraction of an impacted molar. This week I had a crown fitted. Willie has conducted every examination, investigation and proceedure to the highest standard, taking notes, pictures, x-rays and moulds where 'appropriate and necessary'. I see a recent 1 star 'rambling' review from a new client. I can only assume that this person has several years of dentistry training, experiance and appropriate qualifications? What else could explain such a contrasting view of this surgery's practices, or provide an informed context of what 'appropriate pre-treatment' actions were required for thier remedial dental needs? ...or maybe - like me - they should have looked after their teeth better! After all, that is the ultimate pre-treatment activity. ;) I personally rely on results, not misguided opinions. That is reflected in my review here.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and friendly staff

Negative experience: I chose this dental practice because of its high-rate reviews. but on second thought, I am a bit hesitant to continue my treatments in this clinic. I have been to dentist many times and usually during the first check up they did a full X-ray scan of my teeth to give an exact treatment plan. This was usually the maximum amount that you needed to pay according to the X-ray condition of teeth and they started with the one which needed the fastest treatment. They stated that this plan is valid for six month and after that another full checkup must be made. They usually suggested that a specific tooth might need a root canal but during the session they will decide the best treatment based on the condition but you know that your tooth might need a root canal. This was the routine in Iran, the Netherlands and my previous dentist in Edinburgh. I found it very weird that in this practice the dentist took photos of my teeth instead of X-ray scan (using a camera) and told me that the treatment plan may increase in the future depending on the X-ray of each tooth. He told me "I think I will start with No.4". Which is very unclear to me how he made this decision by looking at the photos. I believe a full X-ray could be a better indication of all teeth conditions and I can manage my time and money to start the ones which are the most important. If the X-ray is going to be done one by one in each session, I cannot plan my time and expenditure to get the most out of my treatment. I understand this might be the approach in this practice but unfortunately, in my opinion it will result in hidden costs and delay in treatment of the ones which are critical. I wish I had discussed this that day with the dentist because I don't know why I paid 60£ and left with a treatment plan based on visual observations and pure experience rather than an X-ray. This bill can double or triple later according to X-ray. I communicated this with the practice in an email and their answer is : "I am sorry that my examination modality was not to your liking. I wish you every success in finding a dental practice you feel more comfortable with. Yours sincerely, Dr William RJ MacEachen" I usually read reviews carefully so I am posting this here to help other people have a "realistic expectation" of their visit in this practice. I don't know if this is a normal procedure in dental practices but it was not in previous practice (unfortunately the dentist retired three years ago). I wish luck for everyone and take care of your teeth because it makes your smile even more beautiful. :x

Fantastic experience: My wife and I are big fans of Polwarth Dental Clinic. The reception team are really helpful, welcoming and informative. They have a great system working between reception and clinicians so your plan, costs and appointments are managed efficiently. Dr MacEachan is a great dentist. Thorough with imaging and planning prior to doing anything with your teeth and has a no nonsense approach. He will tell you funny stories or come out with some pretty hilarious comments which I can imagine is quite settling for nervous patients. It's great to see the team cracking jokes and keeping cheerful during what has been a pretty tricky year for everyone! I've previously suggested the clinic to others who have also had great experiences - so I am confident to keep recommending. Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: It was really easy to get an appointment on the same day even though I wasn't registered as a patient yet. The team is lovely and I will definitely come back when I need to see a dentist.

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment and after seeing the positive reviews, I decided to give this clinic a call. Thanks to the amazingly helpful receptionist Mairi, 20 minutes later (really!) I was sitting in Dr MacEachen's chair where he listened to my problem attentively and determined I need an extraction. In order to prevent any complications, he slotted me in at the end of the same day. The extraction was quick and painless and he even threw a scale and polish on top to reduce the risk of infection of the wound. All the while absolutely professional and reassuringly calm, confident and focused even though he was nearing the end of what was clearly a very busy day. The rest of the staff were also lovely and made it repeatedly clear to me that my wellbeing as a patient is important to them even after the treatment. I have not been to the dentist for 5 years before today, but I will be coming back to Polwarth Dental for a comprehensive examination and any subsequent treatment as soon as possible, so that in itself speaks a lot about my positive experience here. Definitely will be recommending this clinic to anyone I can.

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely, family practice. We called for an emergency appointment for our toddler after an incident with a seesaw left her front tooth wobbly. We got an appointment within the hour, even though none of us are registered there. The dentist and his daughter (the receptionist) were so gentle and reassuring. My daughter wasn't scared at all despite the PPE. We even got a Peppa Pig sticker! I've been avoiding going for a check up during Covid but everything felt clean and safe so I think I'll do that for myself now.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Polwarth Dental Clinic are an outstanding team of professionals. I avoided all dentists for many years, but have been cured of my fear of dentists in just a few weeks. The dental treatment is absolutely first rate, painless and delivered in a relaxing, friendly manner. Positive experience: I went to have a wisdom tooth extracted. I had seen that Willie was reputed well and the receptionist affirmed his credentials. Communication was very clear and I was advised how to prepare. The procedure itself was easier than I thought it would be. It was perfectly bearable. A worthy investment.

Negative experience: Very poor. When you call they tell you visit is cost 45F. I had problem with gums because what he told me i have gum decease. Obviously i know that when i come there. Usually this come when you have too much tartar. I was sure he going to remove it from my teeth. NO..... He start showing me his toothbrush and telling its best one and cost only 45 F .... at the end he told he going to clean my tooth but next week after when i told i going back to work he change his decision for Friday my visit was at Wednesday -.- . I was shock he not going to do it at the same day for 45F what they told me no...... just they told i have to have next visit. Cost another visit 55F. I was there and just feel im at SCAM place.... 45F visit, 45F toothbrush what i no need, 5F mouth wash and another visit 55F sum of that is just 150 F. Maybe we have COVID but please taking 45F for just look on your teeth by 1 minute its so RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!

I have had the best treatment from William and Xandra, who are the most understanding, welcoming and caring perfectionist professionals. The clinic is very clean and have the friendliest receptionists who dealt with my emergency appointment efficiently. I had the best experience through out the treatment and I could not recommend this clinic enough. I am so glad I have found dentists I can trust finally! I have never wanted to go back to the dentist so much. Thank you to all the staff!

Fantastic experience: My last hope in saving my tooth has been Dr. Willie MacEachen. It was before Christmas holidays and a molar started to hurt; it was inflamed. For this emergency, I called at 9 am and lucky me, I was welcomed by 9:20 am in Polwarth Dental Clinic. Basically, this tooth has had two root treatments in the last six years plus an encapsulated infection in the tip of the roots. Dr. MacEachen didn't ever guarantee that we would save the tooth but he said he would do all he can to save it. Normally, a dentist just takes the tooth out and problem solved most of dentists and more than ten I visited between Spain and here Edinburgh, would have taken the tooth out, normally a third root treatment is not in their procedure yet. I wanted to save my birth right tooth so, I placed all my faith in Dr. Willie MacEachen as he seemed really confident and his words sounded to be a dentist that brings evolution and braveness in dentistry. It took five sessions cleaning the affected roots where in the third session there was a bit of disappointment because the infection increased so I had to take antibiotics, forth session the infection was down and it wasn't inflamed anymore which was a good sign because in my fifth session, lucky me the roots were completely cleaned. My tooth was saved by him and his professional approach to not just take the tooth out if not to try the best to conserve it until nothing can be done, that is the way. I'm really happy with all the team, his wife Xandra MacEachen was there at all times helping him and her presence was as well really positive. Totally recommended.

Fantastic experience: Another great big thank you to Willie and the team for the quality work carried out on my teeth. A professional, yet personable, service with time to explain everything around my course of treatment. As soon as you walk in there is a pleasant and comfortable waiting room which is occupied by friendly and pleasant staff. In the surgery itself Willie and his Dental Assistant were consummate professionals, great care taken on cleanliness of equipment and my wellbeing and the conversations are always interesting and informative (and even quite amusing at times ) All in all, an excellent customer experience.

Fantastic experience: I’ve now been attending Polwarth Dental Clinic for 10 years. The team at this Clinic are second to none in all that they set out to achieve. From the warm welcome on arrival, which helps to relax any nervous patient, and all advice and potential procedures clearly explained by Dr Willie MacEachen, everything is carried out in both a friendly and thoroughly professional manner. It’s easy to forget you’re actually sat in a dental chair when Willie is ‘working his magic’ on you. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: As someone who is notoriously scared of the dentist I have to say this has been my best dental experience ever. Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant! After suffering toothache for over a week I ventured all over town trying to get seen and as a last resort tried Polwarth. The receptionist was lovely and although they were fully booked I was given a small slot right away and was seen. In and out in half an hour feeling like a happy man again. And as somebody who has a life long fear of dentists, I was surprisingly calm and made to feel at ease! Couldn't praise this place and the staff enough :).

Fantastic experience: Polwarth dental clinic delivers exceptional service! The reception team are always so friendly making you feel instantly at ease and comfortable talking about anything. The dentist no longer seems a scary place here and this is reflected in their practice. The service is the best that I’ve experienced in dentistry, handled by staff who instantly make you feel safe and calm supported by the decades of experience and training behind them. Procedures are handled with safety and care as the priority but the speed at which they are completed is just another perk that reflects the level of professionalism the clinic offers. I couldn’t recommend this dentistry more for anyone that is looking to first sign up or switch dentistry’s.

Fantastic experience: Prior to moving to Edinburgh, I had an accidental chip on my front tooth (which is never great in the photos you take home). I had called to book an emergency appointment and was offered one on the same day. I have now moved here and am glad to call Dr MacEachen my permanent dentist. 5 Stars!

Negative experience: Couldn't be worse customer service. Caring the bare minimum for the patient. Charging fees for their airtime. Pushing all their medications without any consideration that I may want to consider other methods, as theirs is the best of all. Little time spent with the patient and all just to turn money. I diagnosed myself prior to the visit just to tell them that I have pericorinitis. All the dentist said was to confirm it is. All he said he can do is to pull it out. Just cause its great money. No compassion in the service, no sympathy to the patients... And they call clinical excellence...

Fantastic experience: An excellent clinic that is happy to service private patients and travellers from overseas like me. I have a history of being a nervous patient who has fainted in the chair before and Dr. MacEachan listened to my concerns and went ahead with the examination and an extraction in exactly the way I asked to make it as relaxed, quick and pain-free as I could hope for. He performed the extraction perfectly and it was all over in a minute. I was also able to get my denture modified with a new tooth for about 1/10th the cost of getting it done at home in Australia and was given free follow up sessions to make adjustments to make sure it fit properly. The reception and nursing staff are friendly and welcoming. The ambience of the surgery is homely and non-medical. And the prices are reasonable by UK standards. Extremely happy customer thank you!

Fantastic experience: I was recently in Edinburgh on Holiday, second day and I broke one of my back teeth. This was late in the afternoon, I checked on line and found Polwarth Dental Clinic which had excellent reviews. I telephoned and explained the emergency, I was amazed Dr. MacEachen was able to fit me in first thing the next day. He removed the broken half of my tooth and did a temporary repair. He went over my options and I decided not to take the chance of further damage to this tooth, within a week I had a ceramic inlay. The cost was reasonable and the Clinic supplied me with all the paperwork and pictures I would required to send in a claim on my medical when I got home. I would highly recommend Dr. MacEachen and special thanks to the staff for all your help.

Fantastic experience: Having avoided the dentist for years, I mean years I was horrified to wake up chewing half a molar this morning. The remaining tooth was ragged and sharp so i knew i needed to face my fear and visit the tooth man. The lovely Mairi talked me through the whole process over the phone To calm my fears and thankfully managed to squeeze me in last minute. Throughout my treatment Willie distracted me with some stories of his time working in the practice, all with the luxury of some blue planet 2 above me. So happy to have faced my fears and I feel so relaxed about my follow up appointments. Thank you Willie and the team

Fantastic experience: I found Polwarth Dental Clinic about 6 years ago when I had an emergency with a tooth that had been botched by another dentist. It was new years eve and Willy saw me later in the day from when my appointment was booked and my tooth was pain free and managed to enjoy the hogmanay celebrations. Since this first visit, I've continued to see willy as my dentist. He's fabulous, super gentle, tells stories while your in the chair and plays BBC Plant Earth documentaries on the TV above the chair to distract those from having their teeth worked on. I since have stayed with Willy as my dentist and I can't recommend him more.
