Dr Lopes is very approachable and caring and explains any procedure each step of the way so I’m kept informed of treatment options and work being done. A special mention for Tracy at reception also. She is always warm, friendly and caring and will do her best at all times to provide options or answer my queries always all with a smile. These are the sort of things which make a difference, especially when attending the dentist which can often be a stressful experience. Everyone at Vitality does their best to make you feel at ease.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service! I have always hated going to the dentist as I’d had a very anxious dentist in portobello, who made me feel uneasy on every visit. I looked for a new dentist, and after reading reviews, decided to swap to Vitality Dental Care a year ago. I have had appointments with both Dr Adam and Dr Omar. Both of them are incredible at what they do, they are both so calm and reassuring. I bit into (what I believed to be) a pitted olive on Sunday which unfortunately had a full olive stone in it. It knocked out my front canine tooth. This has required lots of appointments and decisions but Vitality couldn’t have been more helpful nor supportive in guiding me through the process and explaining all my options. Today I had root canal treatment with Dr Adam. I was extremely nervous as had heard horror stories about root canal, but it was absolutely fine. I couldn’t believe how skilled he was and how relaxed he made me feel before, during, and after treatment. My partner, colleague and friend are all trying to swap dentist to vitality after how much I’ve raved about the service. I would (and have been) recommending Vitality to everyone. Tracy at reception is so friendly, professional and informative every time I call (which has been often this last week). I have no worries or nerves about my second root canal treatment in 2 weeks thanks to Vitality. Thank you Tracy, Dr Adam and Dr Omar for your outstanding service.

Edit: Went back to my home country to find out how sloppy the work actually was. The case where dentists literally point out to my crown to say : Look how bad it is , and that’s how they do it over there . Still need to take extra care of my tooth .

Negative experience: Come back to write this review after almost 6 years because the root canal that I had here wasn't done properly, and I have been getting re-infection with excruciating pain 2/3 times a year. To solve the issue I will have to re-do the root canal which will cost at least £4~£5k and can only be done with a specialist. Avoid surgery-type procedure in this practice, it will ruin your life.

Negative experience: I've never met a ruder receptionist. Didn't even look up when we were dialoguing, and spoke in a dismissive and condescending way. I commented on the paperwork quantity when registering, and she just told me to get on with it. The dentist emailed her clients asking them to give five star Google reviews in exchange for a donation to an animal sanctuary. Be aware of this, in case some of these reviews are from that and not from reality. After getting a checkup, I was TOLD what work needed to be done instead of being walked through my options, like with the other 3 dentists I've used. I felt railroaded. And they are expensive for the standard of service. Never went back I should add, this was around 2 years ago. Maybe they have changed since.

Fantastic experience: Great service and very friendly dentist

Negative experience: This a completely waste of money. The dentist Fauzia told me that my gums were in a really bad condition so I needed a dental cleaning asap which was a lie but they wanted to charge me 60 pounds for that so I said no and she was insisting all the time that it needs to be done. I got an appointment with other two dentist and they told me that my gums are perfect and my teeth very clean so I don't need any extra cleaning. After that I got a teeth filled (I paid 120 pounds) because she said that this kind of filling was the best. Since that moment it had been hurting me so I got a new appointment and she said the same thing, that my teeth was hurting because I need a dental cleaning. I won't come back.

Negative experience: I rarely write reviews, but feel like I need to explain my issues with this dentist, I spent a lot to have my old silver fillings taken out and replaced with white ones along with a number of root canals and crowns all done here. After nearly 3 months of work and going back and fore I’ve been left with crowns that are different colour and had to be worn down (by the dentist) to make them fit and a number of my fillings removed as there was decay left behind. Needless to say my teeth were in a bad way but felt that as the ranting imply this dentist could rectify my issues I was wrong. It’s nearly two years later and my new dentist has revolved my issues and had replaced all the work that this outfit carried out including replaying my crowns.( and fitting and implant tooth, as this dentist just wanted to remove one of my teeth ) Please be careful of this place as they are over worked and seemingly pushed for time to get each patient out the door.

Fantastic experience: You know when I'm compelled to write a glowing recommendation of a dentist, it must be an absolutely stellar dental office. And it really is - the dentist is thorough, efficient, concise in explanation, and very gentle in his treatment. I've been here for several years now, and he's always on time too, which is a rarity. Negative experience: I had an appointment with Dr. Omar Ali. He did a really fast job. When it was finished, I was expecting him to let me see the results in the mirror. But, he was speeding things up, so I can leave ASAP from the room. I left, but I still had powder in my mouth (techinly you have to mouth wash just after the Dr. finished cleanse plus shipping my tooth). So, I was feeling really uncomfortable until I got home and I finally manage to take rid of all the powder in my mouth. When I look at myself in the mirror, the was a piece of the "fake tooth" sticking out. So, I had to go again. Really unprofessional and a time consuming as I had to go twice. I don't recomend it!

Negative experience: Unprofessional dental care with rude receptionists who should think about a career change. Given the continued difficulty of getting appointments, and always endlessly waiting to be seen when I do get one, I will simply find another dentsl practice that does not treat its patients with contempt.

Fantastic experience: Dr Omar Ali was brilliant. He took the time to explain what he was doing, what he was looking for and the implications of what he found. He offered excellent advice on how to care for my teeth and gums, showing me on the xrays the importance of following his advice - I cannot recommend him highly enough. First class service and every member of the team was helpful and polite. Thank you, I will definitely continue to visit Dr Ali.

Record system failure When you do get in running 40 minutes late dentist says she's always late...she talks a lot all ..dentists are late. See the other dentist in the practice if you like... he's not usually late ! Make appointment at your own peril....

Negative experience: Awful. I moved to Edinburgh and looked for a dentist and went by the reviews. This one had decent reviews so I though it would be fine. But I got to my appointment 15 mins early, only to wait for nearly an hour. I finally had my appointment and the lady was so rude and genuinely did not care to ask about history or anything. It felt as if she was annoyed I was even there. She then checked my teeth and was so rough that It was genuinely uncomfortable and painful. She then stopped and said I need another appointment and the next will be for X-rays and cleaning. This appointment had genuinely been 2 minutes. I did go a second time and she was meant to clean my teeth but decided to again be so forceful and rough that I had to ask her to stop! She decided I need 6!! Fillings and I needed to come back. I have now gone to Meadowbank, which everyone at work recommended and it was very professional, careful cleaning and I ended up needing ONE not SIX fillings. So it also seems to be true that this place is forcing procedures on you for money. Awful... never coming back.

Negative experience: I have recently moved to Edinburgh and my first dental appoint was a couple of weeks ago, it was with with a female dentist, I believe her name was Fozia. This was easily the worst dental visit of my life. My experience was not so dissimilar to other 1 star reviews on this page. I was taken at least 20 minutes late, and my appointment was rushed. She cleaned my teeth in under 2 minutes and was so rough. It left my gums sore for days after. To make matters worse, she said I needed to have 4 new fillings. I found this hard to imagine since my last dental appointment (8 months ago in another practice) found no existing cavities, and I had since been brushing with a high fluoride toothpaste. I subsequently went for a second opinion at 2 other clinics and was told my teeth were absolutely fine. This screams of both malpractice and sheer incompetence. It is completely irresponsible for Vitality (and the NHS) to employ people like her. Finally, at the end of my appointment I requested a prescription for high flouride toothpaste. She said she would give it to me next time because she could not find her prescription pad. It was only after I really pushed her did she bother to look about. It was right beside her under a folder. I remember sitting there, genuinely dumbfounded that she was practicing dentistry. Vitality, despite its good overall rating, has at least 10 percent of its ratings as 1 star. I am sure there are good dentists at this practice, and you might get lucky, but there are a number of clinics in Edinburgh with more impressive ratings which I would urge you to explore, as I did. You should not gamble with your teeth.

Fantastic experience: I have a teeth removal and root treatment there.It totally alleviates my teeth problem and overcomes my fear against the dentist! I really recommend the dentist named Omar.He is very professional and friendly dentist.Even more,he treat my teeth very gently and minimize the degree of pain for me with his talented skill.I am very thankful for him! Negative experience: Lovely dentist, very efficient and a nice clean and inviting office. Well that was last time with Alexandra Konstinato. That dentist has left. This time, appointment changed by them, then they were running late. The new dentist was rude, condescending, recommended work that wasn't needed and spent the whole thing upselling unnecessary treatment. She told me I needed to replace a perfectly stable filling with a white one. Needed, she didn't ask if I wanted it. Tried to upsell teeth straightening. Told me I needed to change my lifestyle and made (incorrect) assumptions about me, just because my teeth were a bit caffeine stained. Not going back

Fantastic experience: I visited Vitality Dental back in October for a check-up and clean up. I had neglected my dental health for almost 5 years! I didn't have any problems but as a smoker and coffee drinker my teeth were stained and had plaque. I had a deep cleaning with Alexandra Konstantinou in two sessions and I couldn't be happier with her service. I've experienced no irritation or pain at all and my smile was better and healthier than ever. I strongly recommend the practice, very friendly and helpful receptionists, and Alexandra Konstantinou.

Fantastic experience: Over the past 5 months I've had a few appointments at Vitality Edinburgh with Omar. Initially I visited to get my braces fitted but was a bit sceptical due to a past experience when I was younger with Braces at a different dentist. Omar explained how this routine would work and after my consultation was available to work immediately and his assistants as well as the receptionists where all friendly and professional. My retainer will be available within 3 days and I've been given clear instructions on how these should work and given assurance I can call to speak with Omar if I have any questions. Due to the quality of work I received I've now moved from another practice to use Vitality as my permanent dentist in future. Prices were very reasonable and all in all I was really impressed with every appointment and member of staff I've spoken with and would have no issue referring any of my friends or family.

Positive experience: The dentist's hands smelled like cigarette smoke, he damaged my lip with some polishing tape and floss and the assistant was easily distracted and not paying attention to my pained face when she pushed the instruments too hard. It's cheap and they're nice people, but professionally speaking, wouldn't really recommend.

Fantastic experience: It's the university place for dental and optical (glasses etc.) care, I think it's great. They have both NHS and private options available and would explain and then let you choose by yourself. I've only met Dr. Alexandra, she and her assistants are very nice. :) I have very bad teeth, very unfortunately... They sometimes are full of appointments, I think in busy times I can only get appointments after two weeks, but normally it's fine, less or about one week. I think this place for students is nice.

Negative experience: I asked to be reffered to dental hospital because I need dental surger. The dentist said yes sure but first I will reefer you to the orthodontist and I think this is just because he didn't know how to refer me to dental hospital. So I've waited one month for my orthodontics appointment and I've paid 30£ for consultation to be referred to that hospital... what a waste of time and money.
