Negative experience: Disappointing that the practice would choose profits over public health and for them to dismiss their entire adult NHS list from April. Have been coming to the practice since birth when Dr. Stephen Walmsley was in charge however since his son has taken over, profits have clearly been made more important than the people of the practice, undermining the core principles of the pillars of medicine, especially in an area in which already struggles financially.

Fantastic experience: Not a fan of dentists in general so took some time to look for the right place. My first visit was to fix a root canal which was a bit infected. Great advice, really quick turnaround and very happy with the result. So much so I decided to finally get braces. Really great experience with Dr Emma and her team. Always detailed explanation on the process, what to expect and upcoming steps. Really good results as well. Everyone is really friendly and kind, always get appointment reminders and all the necessary documentation and instructions so communication is very good. Would 100% recommend!

Lauren answered the phone and after about 45 minutes she'd got me in for 10.20am. Fantastic experience: I have been attending this dental practice since it's opening in 1984 under the wonderful Steve Walmsley, who has now retired. I have always had excellent treatment from both Steve and his very capable nurses and receptionists (got to mention Carol & Lauren) Since the refurbishments, which are great, I have been assigned a new dentist Depak who is excellent, so kind & caring, explains everything so thoroughly and answers all my queries with utmost competence. Just wish you weren't changing to private care.

Fantastic experience: Excellent on all fronts. Location great, all decked out in a professional manner but with though of relaxing patients of all ages. Staff always welcoming and you always get the impression they enjoy working there which of course isn't always the case. Nobody looks forward to a visit to the dentist but going here is as good as it can be and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Both Steve and I have been with this practice for a while now and find them very welcoming. Personally, I have had issues with anxiety due to my fear of the dentist, but Hannah has always made me feel calm. As well as Edward and his wife (sorry, I've forgotten her name) before seeing Hannah regularly. Sadly, I have been recently told they are going fully private in 2026, so maybe back to the drawing board to find an understaning practice.

Fantastic experience: Another very positive visit to Walmsley dentists. Been a patient here for 30 years now having previously had Stephen look after me. Today it was Ed the new owner, and Keeley and they fixed my damaged tooth very quickly and told me what can be done with it in the future to make it more of a permanent fix (I was personally time limited on this occasion) . This was very reassuring to hear knowing I can come back again and have the peace of mind of having it permanently sorted.

Fantastic experience: Always feel welcomed and taken care of. I have big anxiety for any dental works, but with Walmsley I noticed my anxiety has significantly improved.

Negative experience: When I first started going to this dentist, they seemed lovely. But as time went on, things quickly went downhill. They began demanding not just a deposit but the entire payment nearly four months in advance. What started at £50 shot up to almost £200 in less than a year — and this was only for a basic teeth polish. I explained that I wanted to pay in cash for my treatment, but instead of being reasonable, they gave me a so-called “one time deal” where I had to pay a £60 deposit and then the rest in cash on the day. But going forward I had to pay the full amount upfront (even if I booked a follow up a year later) Then, the day before my appointment (a full 24 hours in advance), I had to rearrange due to mental health difficulties (which I did have proof on, however they wasn’t bothered about this) they just took this as a perfect way to get me out the practice. I explained this to them, yet their response was to basically tell me they’d refund my money but that Its in everyone’s best interest that I should not come back to their practice. The options they gave me were to either have my deposit refunded and find a new dentist (which they said they thought was best), or to rebook but only if I paid the full amount upfront. That in itself shows they had no intention of keeping me on as a patient as why would they be offering me my money back? So, because I needed to rearrange an appointment for reasons relating to my mental health, I was effectively told I wasn’t welcome anymore. This feels not only unfair but also discriminatory, showing a complete lack of understanding and professionalism from a healthcare provider. To make matters worse, when I mentioned that I would be leaving a review, they asked me to “be nice” about it — which just proves they knew how unreasonable their behaviour was. If you’re looking for an unsupportive, money-driven dentist, then this is the place. Otherwise, I strongly recommend staying well away. Screenshots below to prove.
