Fantastic experience: After approx 55 years of being traumatised by dentists that have no compassion or patience, I finally found a dental practice that I felt comfortable with. It took time, but Shane & his fantastic team made me feel at ease & able to conquer my sheer fear of being in the presence of a dentist. The staff even went to the bother of opening windows & using air sprays to help with my uncomfortable senses of the smell of a dental practice. This really meant a lot. After discussions of what treatment I needed, I wasn’t rushed into making any decisions & was totally put at ease about the sedation I requested. After a past experience, this was something I was absolutely petrified of, but Shane reassured me that everything would be ok. It was, & now I feel so confident talking to people & I’ve got my smile back. Thanks team.

Fantastic experience: I had such a wonderful experience with dental hygienist Maria Padin. She did an absolutely amazing job—thorough, professional, and so gentle throughout the entire process. Maria made me feel completely safe and comfortable, which really helped ease any nerves I had. Her warm personality and caring approach made my visit a truly positive one. I left not only with a brighter smile but also feeling genuinely happy about the care I received. I highly recommend Maria for anyone looking for a hygienist who goes above and beyond!

Fantastic experience: I am a very dental phobic person, after a break of 14 / 15 years of being too scared to go the dentist I finally got myself in to have work done under IV sedation. Fantastic experience: The best place for dental visits. I feel much more confident in my smile each time I come here! The dentists and hygienists are so lovely - they do really look after you during treatments and always provide professional, useful advice. The receptionist team is also great and helpful!

Negative experience: I'm shocked on how unprofessional this guy, Shane is. Advertising that he also works for the NHS, with a poster in the waiting room, to then be told that he doesn't. He thinks he knows it all, when clearly he has no idea! I've been on lithium for over ten years which has caused problems with my gums and yet he had the cheek to tell me that its not my medication that has caused some of my problems regarding my gums. Money grabbing and talks down to his staff in front of you. He wanted to charge me over £4500 to have work done. When my wife asked him about his NHS work, his reply was.. "absolutely not. The NHS can't afford to do this work". Disgusting and extremely false. He made me feel and spoke to me like I was a child.

Fantastic experience: I had the most positive dental experience today at Village Dental. Cat the hygienist is absolutely superb. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Fantastic experience: I have recently undergone treatment with Shane and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. I had not seen a dentist for 25 years so needless to say I needed a lot of work done. Shane and the team understood my anxiety’s and provided treatment in a calm and relaxed environment. David who dealt with the sedations was incredible and again made me feel very calm and relaxed. All in all I am chuffed to ribbons with the end result and am finally able to smile again. Shane and the entire team did an amazing job, and made sure I was very well looked after. Fantastic experience: I recently visited the Village Dental Centre for my first check up in around 15 years. I was quite nervous but everyone was lovely and welcoming. Had an initial examination with No Pain Nigel, a hygienist clean with Danny and then two fillings with Nigel. The appointments were fast, everyone was reassuring and would talk me through the procedures and be very kind which was good. All itemised receipts were promptly received which was good as I could then pass them to my insurer. No pain Nigel was true to his name. My procedures were a few weeks ago now and my gums no longer bleed when I clean my teeth and the fillings have settled nicely and I can now enjoy cold food and drinks with no sensitivity. Thanks for a great experience!

Fantastic experience: Village Dental Centre is without doubt the best dentist I have ever been to. Having tried numerous dentists over the years (and had some terrible experiences), I found them around 17 years ago. Nigel Kennedy is brilliant, professional, and incredible with pain relief, so you really can’t feel a thing. I have crowns that look so real, people can’t believe they are crowns, they just think I was blessed with amazing teeth, which I’m not. I’m just blessed with a superb dentist!

Fantastic experience: Great dentists, have sorted my teeth right out after many years of not seeing a dental professional. I am now stain and gum disease free thanks to the expert ministrations of Cat the hygienist! Even the extraction of a broken molar was relatively pain and hassle free.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending for many years for regular check up’s, hygiene visits and a variety of different procedures. I recently had a tooth crowned and a replacement bridge. Everyone at the surgery is very professional and very reassuring, especially if you are a nervous patient like me. Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency appointment after my front tooth crown fell off (nhs emergency helpline doesn’t treat missing crown as an emergency). I wasn’t in pain but a missing front tooth isn’t a geat look! I called about 10 surgeries when Old Village surgery was first to offer me same day appointment. Polite receptionist , nurse and doctor. I recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Due to a phobia I had not been to the dentist in nearly 30 years, they are sooo understanding, nothing is too much trouble and the attention to detail is truly outstanding, all very relaxed with every step of the process clearly explained. I would highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic Dental surgery, the best one I have ever been a patient of. I am a nervous dental patient and from the moment I walked into the surgery I felt at ease. I recently had treatment on my teeth and opted for sedation. The whole clinical team were professional yet friendly and caring. I had a brilliant and pain free experience, not something I thought I would ever say after dental treatment. I was in zero pain after my treatment too which was great and clearly a sign of good dentistry. Thank you to Shane, Gina, Peter and the rest of the team who I was looked after by. Fantastic experience: I suffer from General Anxiety Disorder and the top of my bucket list is dentistry. In April 2022 I decided that I had to visit a dentist as my teeth were literally falling out. I booked an appointment at the Village Dental Centre. On the day of my first appointment I was terrified and very embarrassed about the state of my teeth. I explained my predicament to Shane who showed real empathy and explained everything he was doing when assessing my teeth. After a couple of visits I was presented with a clear dental treatment plan and Shane explained that I needed to have 13 teeth extracted and on the same day I would have immediate partial dentures fitted. All this work would be done under sedation - I would be awake but would not feel any pain or be aware of what was happening. Leading up to the big day I had several visits for impressions for my dentures and a trail fit (without the teeth). At every visit Shane and his team made me feel more and more relaxed. The big day of the extractions was on Tuesday 12th July. I was calm when I arrived and had complete trust in Shane and his colleagues. My procedure went well and it's only been 2 days but I am so happy with the results. I can smile again without embarrassment. Yes, I need to adjust to eating and speaking again but I'm confident this won't take long. For anyone who is anxious about dentists, then please go and see the team at the Village Dental Centre as they will change your perception of dentists and dentistry. They have really changed my life for the better.

Fantastic experience: I have a fear of dentists but not exactly a phobia. However I was always putting off the inevitable until a friend told me about "no pain Shane". I thought that was hilarious but my friend said he really does provide gentle painless treatment. So I went and it's true!! He is lovely and welcoming as are all the staff. The dental nurse was excellent also and deserves a mention for not making me "gag" with the suction thingy! This will be my dentist of choice from now on. 100% recommend the Village Dental Practice. Fantastic experience: I've been registered here for a long time but only recently, due to my real fear of dentists, used their services. I have been made to feel comfortable and during my recent visit for dental work under anasthetic, I was checked on repeatedly in regard to my anxiety. Everyone made me feel as relaxed as I could be and I was so happy with the hygienist work. They looked after me after the treatment and made sure my friend was there to collect and what he should look out for. I just wanted to praise both the dentist I usually see and hygienist for actually making me feel comfortable enough to actually even consider having work done! My fear around dentistry is quite high so I would really recommend to those who are afraid of dentists! They are really conscious of peoples fears and I even got a star wars plaster after haha! Now to just look after my teeth properly!

Fantastic experience: I hadn’t been to the dentist for over 20 yrs, I have a fear of needles, I had a tooth that finally came out , obviously vanity had more of a control over me than the fear but only after nearly a year did it win!! I looked online for a practice dealing with people like me and came across this one , the reviews were excellent but even so I still had to overcome my apprehension as a needle would have to be used whichever path I took, I eventually booked an appointment after I’d sent an email explaining my fear, although my first injection was an incredibly scary moment i needn’t have been so frightened, it didn’t hurt and Shane and his nurse were wonderful , after that I didn’t feel a thing , I am surprised to say that I am confident enough now to go to my dental appointments without any fear , thankyou to you all , I am very grateful xx

Fantastic experience: My experience with Shane and the lovely team at the Village Dental Centre has been marvellous and I would recommend them to anyone seeking a kind and pain free dental service. I had avoided the dentists for about 15 years largely through fear, but I can honestly say that this been a transformative experience, at every stage I was treated with kindness and gentleness, my treatment began with several extractions and then preserving and repairing the teeth that were left, the subsequent crown work is excellent and the partial dentures were fitted with great skill and dexterity. I felt respected and there was no shaming, in spite of the pretty poor state of my teeth when I arrived. I now have a smile I can be confident with and a restored sense of personal wellbeing. Fantastic experience: As someone who’s always hated going to the dentist, it was somewhat daunting when I decided I wanted braces in my late 20s. However, I can truly say that Shane and the team at Village Dental have been excellent every step of the way, very professional and also very friendly - they really do put you at ease and make going to the dentist a less horrifying prospect. Having had the braces taken off about 2 months ago, the results are brilliant, better than I really expected - I’ve spent that time getting used to smiling without deliberately hiding my teeth. The timescale given for treatment was pretty much bang on, and despite the crowding in my mouth, I only needed 1 tooth removed (another dentist who had given me a braces consultation said he’d take 4 out). I haven’t got a single negative word to say about the Village Dental Centre. I’m so happy with my smile now. Thank you guys so much. p.s. Sorry I took so long to write this review :)

Fantastic experience: By far the best dentist I have been too! I really don't like going to the dentist, however all staff make you feel at ease and talk you though everything and the dentist himself is SO lovely, I honestly can't sing him enough praise for making me feel so relaxed. I'm yet to have any treatment, the prices have been fully explained, the process and I'm not so scared anymore due to this. 10/10 would recommend!!

Negative experience: Friendly place but very disappointed, I went to have a free consultation about straightening my teeth, about what my options may be and how much this would cost, obviously the dentist wanted to check the health of my teeth which is understandable, however actually my whole appointment ended up being about that and nothing to do with straightening my teeth or what treatment I may be suitable for, I ended up paying £35 for xrays and left with a hefty quote for fillings, I was never told whether I would have to have braces or could have aligners etc, I've had a consultation at my local dentist a couple of year before and it was the total opposite, they gave me the price for the braces first and then told me if I wanted to continue with treatment xrays would be done at a later date. I've left out of pocket and with no clearer idea of what treatment could be suitable for me.

Fantastic experience: I have an extremely bad phobia of registry, having had bad experiences in the past. I had very bad tooth ache and needed to have it sorted out quickly, of which I was very nervous. My biggest fear was the pain of having a tooth extracted, in my head I thought it would be hell and I would pass out! When I arrived I was made to feel at ease, very quickly. The receptionists where very friendly and informative. The dentist that I saw was Shane, and was by far the best dentist I had visited. I was made so relax and confident in his abilities, that I chose to have the tooth extracted, amaziling I didn't feel to afraid as I was informed what was going on the whole time and best of all it did not hurt at all. If you have a dental phobia I deffently recommend visiting the village dental centre.

Fantastic experience: I would not hesitate to recommend Village Dental Centre! I’ve had such a positive experience over the year I have been having my treatment. I had been to several consultations enquiring about cosmetic braces in varying practices around Brighton, however this practice stood out- from the clean calm (And stylish!) waiting room to the amount of time and attention to detail I received in my FREE consultation. Throughout my treatment Shane and Heidi have been amazing! Making me feel comfortable, answering all my questions and delivering a 5* service. I’m so pleased with the end product, I now have a new sense of confidence!! And I must admit I’m going to miss my monthly appointments! A huge thanks to Shane, Heidi and the rest of the team!!

Fantastic experience: Hadn't been to the Dentist for 15 years plus. Found the Village Dental Centre based on Google reviews as my teeth were stopping me smiling as I was scared stiff of going. Met Shane Heidi and Chloe who since I met them have been nothing but AMAZING . There quality of service . Empathy and general downright caring attitude made the whole experience brilliant I was sedated by an amazing guy called David. Had 3 plus hours of treatment and then scale polish and airflow treatment by the superb hygiene ladies , I can honestly say for anyone who is scared of dentists . I went in to have alot of work done to all my upper front teeth and nigel did an absolutly amazing job. Absolutly no pain whatsoever, and i couldnt be any more pleased with the outcome. Nigel is a very friendly, helpful and all out proffesional and i couldnt be more thankfull for the amazing job he has done.

Fantastic experience: I have recently received treatment from Nigel and Lina.I was so embrassed by the state on my lower teeth and had resigned my self to the fact there was very little that could be done. After visiting Nigel and Lina they made me feel really comfortable they sorted a treatment plan for me and today after just under 6 months I finally got my end results. I can’t believe how good my teeth now look. I can’t thank Nigel enough for his work I plan to go back in the new year for some work on my upper teeth but thankfully they are not as bad as my lowers. I can’t recommend Nigel and Lina enough they are friendly and kind and throughout all the work I had (which was a lot) I never felt any pain whatsoever great dentist and once again thank Nigel for making me feel confident enough to smile again.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with my treatment from this practice. I received fixed clear braces, followed by Invisaligns and then teeth whitening. I'm very pleased with the end result and now smile very proudly compared to before. Shane and Heidi were very patient and friendly throughout the process and always listened to my concerns and tried to answer and help as best they could. They were great at explaining every process very clearly along the way during my visits. I will be recommending them to anyone wishing to receive a teeth straightening service. Everyone has been amazing, listened to my fears and last Friday I had a tooth out in the chair without sedation, which has amazed people who know me. I urge anyone who has problems with visiting the dentist to give them a call and see what can be done. I know I will have problems with my teeth in the future but I now feel I will be able to deal with anything they throw at me. Thank you so much,

Fantastic experience: I never had any pain or discomfort at this Dentist. I didn't even have tooth pain hours later! Toothache is a distant memory now! Shane and Heidi always explained all that was happening too and was able to show me my teeth close up on film to explain how they were damaged! In fact I always looked forward to visiting the Dentist! (Always a plus as they have great looking Receptionists too!)

Fantastic experience: Shane is very welcoming and I felt absolutely no discomfort during my fillings with him. Very gentle, patient and explains everything. Would really recommend this dental centre if you are a bit nervous about the dentist as they are all really lovely.

Negative experience: UPDATE; After the below appalling experience I sought a second opinion, £120 for one filling required, not the £800 quoted by these rip of merchants. For those who have used this dentist for years, you’ll know no different, they are genuinely conning people and performing unnessasery work purely for profit. No pain Nigel completely botched a root canal treatment leading to a serious infection and an awful emergency procedure. I then had a cracked tooth and needed an emergency filling which I was supposed to have as a NHS patient but was billed after the event as a private client for over £350, the filling was very poorly done and was left rough and sharp until it finally broke of, upon inspection by his colleague (which I was charged £55 for) I was then quoted over £800 for further fillings, £123 for a mouth guard that costs no more than £40 anywhere else, they lied to me saying if I went elsewhere as a NHS patient that I would only be able to get metal fillings as the NHS don’t do white ones. Beware these guys are incompetent and rip off merchants, their no pain strap line is just an ironic joke - Thank you for the reply, however I am pretty sure it was you who lied to me about the NHS not providing white fillings...

Negative experience: Update: Since writing this post, I have read the other reviews finding that another client of Nigel's has had the same problem - a botched route canal! I'm very disappointed and would recommend those who need this treatment to either make an appointment with shane or go elsewhere! ____________________________________________ Visited here for a check up resulting in being told that I need 4 fillings and possibly an extraction of wisdom teeth as they 'seem to be coming through at an angle causing pressure'. After being hassled by weekly calls asking when I could book in and pay the extortionate prices, if not up front on finance, I blocked the contact. I moved on to a much better dental practice who were much more thorough, taking x4 X-rays included in the price. I was told that I only needed two fillings and that my wisdom teeth has come through normally without issue. Not only did Nigel exaggerate the diagnosis, he also botched my route canal treatment which will result in a further crown at the new dentist! Did not expect a bad job, especially at the rate they charge! I would give no stars if possible. Should be NO JOB NIGEL!

Fantastic experience: My treatment program was the CFast Braces with whitening at the end of the treatment. A little bit of background about me. I have Caribbean parents and on my dads side of the family, they all have small spaces between their teeth. Usually between the two front teeth. My father has small spaces between all his upper set. I inherited the same. I’ve never been really bothered by the gaps, in fact I thought they were quite cute. However, entering my 40s, I noticed the gaps were getting wider and the teeth were no longer straight. I became more aware of my teeth when meeting new people, I felt their eyes wonder momentarily to my mouth before quickly reverting back to eye contact. Inevitably, my confidence was slowly being affected. I suddenly realised that when I was socialising I would cover my mouth when I smiled or laugh. This was going on for a few years as the gaps became wider. I couldn’t take being embarrassed by my teeth anymore. I considered going overseas to Hungary or Thailand to get the treatment done but I realised the treatment required regular visits to the orthodontist to make adjustments. So although the cost of treatment was extremely cheap, but the inconvenience and risk was too great. I don’t know why I didn’t think about my dentist Shane doing the treatment. I just thought of him as dentist and no pain fillings. I didn’t think of him as an orthodontist. At my regular dental check up, I mentioned my concerns about my train tunnel gaps. Shane said he could do the treatment and created a treatment plan for me. Yes, my eyes watered when I saw the cost, but I’m a person who complains about the cost of everything medical. I went home and thought about it and what the treatment actually meant to me. My confidence was broken, I didn’t like meeting new people because I felt a prejudgment of me was made. I didn’t like talking in public and I felt ugly. Vanity always wins. Americans always laugh at British people because of the state of our teeth. And as I sat watching tv that evening, I saw so many British actors with teeth that were dreadful. I went to work and I saw terrible shaped teeth everywhere. But I saw no one with gaps like mine. I decided to get the treatment. My treatment took longer than expected because my gaps were extensive and my teeth were bloody stubborn. Throughout the treatment both Shane and Heidi treated me with respect, professionally and with warmth. I’m sure they must have wondered several times when are my teeth going to move. But then suddenly, my teeth started to move and shift. January this year, my braces came off and I burst into tears. I had normal looking teeth. I asked to have a little gap left because it is a family trait. I now have beautiful natural looking straight teeth. No more covering my mouth with embarrassment. It’s now bold bright colour lipsticks that draw the eyes to my beautiful teeth. I haven’t stopped grinning since January. I’m now developing laughter lines. I wonder if Shane can treat those!!. I thoroughly recommend this CFast treanent from the Village Dental Centre. They listen to you and provide the treatment that is right for you. I can now approach my 50s with a great big confident smile.

Fantastic experience: I truly am very nervous of the Dentist, but having been recommended by friends to try Village dental centre, I now find going to the Dentist is not a problem. I have had crowns, replacement fillings etc. I am so pleased with the results I would definitely recommend Shane & the team to everyone looking for great dentistry & it truly is pain free.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly and helpful staff on reception. Waiting room is relaxing and other patients often pass the time of day. There is a drinking water machine easily accessible. My dentist is Shane and he is always willing to spend time explaining procedures and showing pictures of tooth damage so I fully understand why procedures are recommended. His nurse is also very kind and encouraging. I have had extractions and fillings and have felt no pain apart from the numbing injection prior to treatment and that's to be expected. From being a reluctant patient who only visited the surgery when something was wrong and then needing something to get me in the door of a dentist's surgery I am now confident and back to 6 monthly checkups. Expensive but worth it to know how encouraging, knowledgeable and friendly every one is. Feel really safe in their hands.

Fantastic experience: I attended the Village Dental Centre yesterday for a hygienist appointment. Everything about my visit was first class and I would highly recommend this dental centre. I’m usually quite nervous at the dentist, but was immediately put at ease by the friendly staff at reception, especially the practice manager, who was absolutely wonderful. The hygienist himself was amazing and very gentle with the cleaning but at the same time did a really great job. He was very reassuring. I felt relaxed and comfortable throughout. I would recommend this dental centre to anybody!

Fantastic experience: After deciding I would get teeth realignment, a friend who had braces fitted by Nigel at Village Dental gave a high recommendation. After seeing Nigel for a few years now, I'm very happy with the service I've been provided. You're always greeted by a friendly face and the work Nigel has done has been amazing. Getting the braces fitted and regularly examined and adjusted by Nigel was a much more pleasant experience than I expected and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I'm ecstatic with the results and would recommend anyone thinking about teeth realignment to go here. I would also recommend their hygienist service.

Fantastic experience: What a relief a dentist who listened and understood my phodia, I've not been to a dentist for over 15years until I plucked up the courage to visit Village Dental & met Shane who was fantastic I was very nervous and he put me at ease & was so understanding of my predicament. I had some work done under sedation by Shane and their was no pain, no discomfort and I came out with healthy, super clean teeth :-) If you do have a phobia or just want to find a great dentist go to Village Dental you will not be disappointed. Fantastic experience: Amazing!!!! This feedback is a message to anyone who suffers acute or chronic anxiety visiting the dentist. After some seriously horrendous experiences as a child in the dentist’s chair, I was desperately looking for a dental practice that would not only be able to offer sedation and pain free dentistry but we’re able to show care and empathy toward someone who had seriously grave fears going to the dentist. The village dental centre are truly amazing. From reception to consultation, their professional and gentle empathic approach are second to none. I have now had four sedation treatments involving some rather unpleasant procedures. I did NOT feel a thing. The sedation in essence knocks you out. I could not feel or hear a thing! No sooner have you been given the sedative, your awake again and everything is over. Truly incredible stuff! Shane (my dentist) is a delight and David (sedation) is truly caring and sensitive. Four treatments here is testament to how good Village Dental Centre is. I now visit Shane with no fears or trepidation and would without question thoroughly recommend Shane and his team to ANYONE who has a chronic fear of dentists. Thank you to a wonderful team. Richard
