Negative experience: Got my fixed wire repaired and it broke 4 days after. They refused to fix it and told me I would have to pay for the whole thing again… 4 days later.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr Rouba Sbano. Within months I went from not wanting to show my teeth to showing off my smile with confidence. I’ve always had a fear of dentists and I haven’t been confident in my smile at all. A housemate had seen Dr Rouba for an implant and was very happy with the treatment she had. I’ve had missing teeth for a while, and now I’ve had Invisalign, 2 implants and bonding and I feel a very different person. Thank you team for looking after me.

The admin team were efficient with appointment reminders, the receptionists greeted me warmly, and my dental practitioner took time to explain things in depth. From the moment I walked through the door, the reception team made me feel so welcome. they’re friendly, professional, and always happy to help with bookings or any questions. The reception staff are brilliant too; everything runs smoothly, and they make the whole process stress-free. The dentists are absolutely fantastic — they take the time to explain everything clearly, put you at ease, and you can really tell they care about their patients. I felt comfortable throughout my treatment, and the results speak for themselves. It’s rare to find a practice where the whole team works so well together, but here you can really feel it. If you’re looking for a dental practice that’s professional, reassuring, and genuinely caring, this is the one. I’ve already recommended it to my friends and family!

Negative experience: Highly unprofessional and disappointing experience. I have been with this practice for years, even tho I moved to mitcham I tried to show some loyalty. I was booked in for a clean, on arrival I saw an option for the airflow clean. I expressed my interest and the guy at the front said he will message the hygienist to express my interest on having the deeper clean. Once I was in the treatment room the treatment commenced. After 30 minutes the hygienist then said she can't do the airflow and was unable to complete the clean and I would have to rebook to complete the clean as the time slot was only 30 minutes. They seemed more concerned about adhering to time slots rather than actually completing the treatment. After initial assessment why could I not been told we can't do the airflow and treatment could not be completed in their so called time slot. I then came out and spoke to the guy at reception and he said he would speak to the hygienist and call me to discuss the further treatment. He did not get back to me. A week later I called the practice to find out why he didn't call back, he then sighted ' miscommunication as an excuse. He then for a second time said he will look into it and call me back. Once again a few days after I called for the second time and asked for further explanation, to which he gave up another dressed up excuse for not calling me back. He then said he will forward this complaint to his manager as she would be able to look into it further. Surprise surprise for the third time I have not heard from them. Being a health professional my self working in the community, I can not believe the level of unprofessional service being provided and Poor communication. I will now be moving to a more local practice that are committed to providing and completing treatment, rather then prioritizing 30 minutes slots over patient care. Poor front of house staff who just make excuses rather then resolve issues. I'm assuming now I have left this review, someone will wake up and actually attempt to do something.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience here as a new patient. Purchased the clinically vulnerable service & the dentist & hygienist wore well fitting FFP3 respirators along with a positive pressure ventilated room. Really appreciate having this available to us. Dentist explained everything & happy with the clean. Edit: Update in 2025 - continuing to receive great treatment & care. All options are always explained along with photos & best practice. Front office has also impressed me with how organised they are.

Negative experience: Good dentist who solved my problem, but some very unhelpful receptionists. I would therefore avoid this place. Made an appointment over the phone and arrived in good time, upon arrival I checked in and took a seat. Dental nurse comes out and asks for a “Mohammed”. No one else in the waiting area but me, so the nurse checks with one of the receptionists who remarks “oh I know what’s happened!”. Nurse takes me to the dental chair, but the dentist can’t see the name amendment on his screen, so I’m sent back to the waiting room. Waited another 5-10 minutes until the nurse comes back for me. Sit in the chair and like I said, dentist was great and solved my issue pretty quickly. Pay for my treatment at the desk, and request an invoice (so I can be reimbursed through my insurance). I’m told I’ll receive it via email shortly. Write my email down and hand it over. Leave. Full timeline: 01/10/2024 - My visit, requested an invoice before I left. 02/10/2024 - Request an invoice, no response. 08/10/2024 - Request an invoice, no response. 14/10/2024 - Request an invoice. 14/10/2024 - Finally get a response, telling me it will be sent it "right now". 17/10/2024 - Request an invoice. 17/10/2024 - Am told its actually been sent several times, asked me if I've received it (why would I even be emailing so many times if I've received it?). 17/10/2024 - I confirm I have not, no response. 18/10/2024 - This review initially went up. 23/10/2024 - Get a phone call, confirming my email was incorrect in their systems and was finally sent the invoice. Most places I've been to have usually sent me an invoice before I'm even out the door! If you value your time and don’t want a headache, avoid this place. UPDATE, 02/04/2025 - Responding to the reply from the practice: For clarity, the email I wrote down is one I've used without issue for over 15 years. While I appreciate the eventual resolution, readers can draw their own conclusions as to whether it's more likely that an "incorrect email address was provided" or that it was entered incorrectly. In any case, the lack of response to multiple follow-ups and this reply speaks for itself.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had an excellent experience with Dr Jarvie and Balham Dental Studio. I decided to get Invisalign as I have always been self-conscious of my teeth (and smile) and I’m now halfway through my treatment plan and already absolutely thrilled with how much of a difference it’s made. Dr Jarvie has been great at taking the time to go through different treatment plan options, couldn’t recommend her or the practice more!

Fantastic experience: I’ve just completed my Invisalign with Dr Rouba Sbano. From the onset her experience was clear, and her attention to detail was excellent. Very pleased with the results. Fantastic experience: Brilliant. I had a severe phobia of dentists since childhood, and I spent the last 4 years trying to find the right dentist and not being sure. My fears are gone, totally painless, I wasn't even aware of the injection, as they use a numbing gel. Hygienist Brilliant, peridontist brilliant, and front desk staff are brilliant. I'm so grateful to all of them. This is the best practice anywhere.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with Dr Jarvie and the dental nurse for my 9-year-old son’s first dental procedure today. They were both very calm and kind to my son, and very aware of giving him a good first experience. The procedure went smoothly, and he was happy at the end of it. Our family has been with the practice for many years, and we’ve always had great experiences with Dr Jarvie for both children (9 and 12), and I’ve had exceptional care from Dr Sbano following an adult dental injury.

Negative experience: AVOID The tooth whitening damaged my gums and the receptionist cancelled my appointment. Took them 2 weeks to make contact.

Fantastic experience: I decided to have Invisalign partly because I didn’t like my smile due to a crooked tooth but mainly because my teeth no longer met properly on my bite. I believe that investing in good care for one’s body means fewer problems down the line, especially teeth! I’m now into my third year of retention and that investment is already paying off with my third checkup in a row being issue free. My teeth are aligned properly and I’ve learnt a lot and established really good daily habits with teeth care. Plus I really like my smile now!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here. I’m high risk for Covid and specified that when making my appointment — both the dentist and hygienist wore well fitted N95 masks and I was also very reassured by their air filtration system. The dental work and care I received was also top notch. I’m so glad I found this place and will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: I had a crown fitted and a couple of fillings completed over a month ago now by Dr Lucy Whitworth. Her, her dental nurse (apologies i will remember your name after the next checkup (memory like a gold fish when it comes to names)) and the whole team were always professional, friendly and helpful, putting me at ease from start to finish, and provided me with great pain free dental care.

Fantastic experience: I had a molar filling with Dr Brandon Tiller. His attention to detail was fantastic. There was no pain following the procedure and the filling itself is completely unnoticeable! He took the time to do several x-rays to ensure everything was perfect. He is caring and compassionate and I would recommend highly him to anyone who needs dental work!!

Fantastic experience: I’m usually not an easy dentist patient as I have a strong gagging reflex but Dr Louisa Jarvie was able to accommodate all my requests, while still performing an excellent and professional work. The studio was also able to book my initial checkup the same day I contacted them (and not for any urgency!) and in a couple of days I had my most critical tooth decay fixed. Price was fair. I’m definitely pleased with my experience here and I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve spent years going to 90 Harley Street - great dentists but high price. £700 for a filling not to mention composites etc. I came across Balham Dental Studio via google search - and I’m so glad I did!! Within one call I had a 1hr appoint booked the following day (east booking process) to do a check up and filling as well as some extra polishing. My Dr was Louisa Jarvie. Hands down the best dentist I’ve ever had and the final price was very fair and affordable. I cannot recommend my whole experience with Balham Dental Studio - would also recommend requesting Louisa!

Fantastic experience: A wonderful practice where I always receive great service under Dr Sbano. Today I had an emergency fix to a chipped tooth. After speaking to Anisa I was in the dental chair within 30 minutes where the procedure and how it would not affect other planned dental work was clearly explained to me by Dr Thanas - before he fixed my tooth up in about 10 minutes. On leaving Josh was caring in aftercare and taking payment. Top marks all round, been a happy patient here for 15 years, but how you are treated in an emergency (or at least eventful) situation means a lot, and inspired this well earned review. Recommended on all levels!
