Negative experience: Got tooth capped which came off within the hour. Got it back on came off on leaving the dentist. Told he was going to replace it with new one and to book an appointment. Close to the christmas and told they would contact me in the new year, heard nothing so phoned and told again they would contact me. Still waiting and it has been a long time now. Seems they have my money and that's it, don't want to know.

Negative experience: Recently changed to this dentist from another private practice. Initial check up was fine, dentist seemed good and thorough. Reception staff was lovely. Downside - they booked my initial appointment soon after me enquiring about joining but then ‘couldn’t’ get a hygienist appointment for 2 months. I then rang up to change that a month ahead due to alternative commitments, but couldn’t get another appointment for over 3 months! Very poor. I’m regretting switching to this dentist but will give it a couple of appointments to see how it plays out…

Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize for the current backlog in hygiene appointments. This has unfortunately been caused by a combination of recent and upcoming bank holidays and staff annual leave.

We recognize the inconvenience this delay has caused and have taken steps to address it. We've added seven more hygiene sessions in May specifically to help patients with longer waiting times get seen sooner.
If you've already asked to be added to our cancellation list, we will be in touch to offer an earlier appointment.

Positive experience: The dentist was nice but they charge twice as much as other private dentists. They took on my case but then other dentists have said they wouldn’t do it as it wouldn’t work. So they’re just money grabbing I feel. I’ve gone elsewhere.

Negative experience: Literally the most unreliable dentist you'll ever have the none pleasure of meeting. The dentist is constantly on the sick so you have you're appointments cancelled one time after another with not as much as an apology, it's that bad I have actually changed dentist. I hear they have got rid of all there working NHS pacients to go strictly private so they can hike there prices up to the max. Great job (NOT)

Negative experience: Very difficult to get through to the Sunderland surgery on the phone. I called at 4.48pm, 12 minutes before they closed, and kept getting a recorded message saying they were busy and to try again later. It's the same every time I phone. When they left the NHS they promised things would improve - they haven't. The dental card, when you can get through to make an appointment, is ok

Fantastic experience: Great visit!. Teeth sorted to a high standard by pleasant staff. If I look after my teeth the way I was told by the Dentist, I may never go there again! So I never went there ever again! That review was before they dumped all NHS patients!

Negative experience: Out to fleece patients and it’s as simple as that. Got to keep the Ferrari’s the owners have financed. My wife is a patient here, over the past 18 months she’s had 5 fillings they say she needed and everyone has fallen out causing her a lot of stress & discomfort. Quality and duty of care is zero. Customer service is non-existent and all part of their marketing ploy to make you desperate and thankful for the sham of a service they provide..They take advantage of people to line their pockets and need closing down. Avoid.

Negative experience: From the age of 11, I was registered at West Mount and they were always friendly, caring and committed to providing the best service. I remained an NHS Patient with them for over 30 years ensuring my regular check ups. From around the year 2000 they started to introduce the private side to the practice this was when it started to go down hill. They because focussed on £££ and everytime you went for your NHS check up, it was always, ‘you need this’ or ’you need that’ and ‘it will cost ??? Which was very frustrating. But then Covid hit and without any warning, notification or email, letter, nothing, I was struck off. And told there was no spaces for NHS patients available. They would happily take me as a private patient though! For £106 just for an initial consult then more £££ for whatever treatment, this is absolutely disgusting. Over 30 years and this is how they treat their patients, it’s all just greed !

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting service. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. My husband had an appoint Booked in for 16 August 2024 which was booked in February 2024. He had a reminder about his upcoming appointment on 19 July 2024, he has now been sent a text to advise it’s been cancelled due to them going private. Their contract with the NHS ends on 31 August 2024 and from 1 September will be completely PRiVATE patients only. His appointment was before they go private but they are making the excuse they don’t have the resource to see him NHS. I would not recommend Westmount Dentist to anyone

Negative experience: Impossible to get through on telephone or by e mail to this practice to book an appointment. Considering it's now a "private" practice You have to physically walk into the building to book an appointment. The service is totally unacceptable. So if you need urgent treatment I would not recommend this practice at all....and don't be fobbed off with the fact its becoming centralised and they have no staff to answer the phone. I was told that 6 month ago as I was actually stood in the reception "ringing" the line whilst they were sat there but phones were on silent. Go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Wanted my teeth straightened and whitened for ages, done loads of research and found Dr Ali came up with fantastic reviews. I had consultation with Lauren we discussed my concerns and what outcome I was aiming for and agreed Invisalign would be better option. Scans were quick and easy. When Picked up trays, Dr Ali went through how to fit and remove trays and what to expect on follow up appointments. I did need further treatment due to teeth not moving quick enough. However the end results are fantastic. They Look even better once finished whitening. I get loads of compliments about my teeth, which has boosted my confidence smiling more. Would definitely recommend Westmount team for treatment.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting, my wife was charged £56 for a course of antibiotics she didn't need, also she was charged £80 for an emergency appointment before leaving the house, after a second opinion she was told her wisdom tooth needed to be extracted immediately because of decay and wasn't at all infected and told a course of antibiotics should only be £10 at any dentist.

Positive experience: Today I had an early appointment. Arrived early as usual, Sat down in waiting room and within 10 mins was called up. Great. Had filling fixed quickly. Usually I have to wait in the waiting room 40 mins to an hr. Which is not good. But today, yep - very good. Thanks.

Negative experience: I have been a patient at this dentist for many years but I left due to the bad experience I recently had. The dentist was not very friendly or empathetic about the problem I had with my teeth. The dentist had a very negative and unhelpful manner towards any treatment that they would have had to carry out. It left me in a distressed way which totally knocked my confidence. Luckily I plucked up the courage to visit another local dentist who were courteous, polite and friendly with a professional attitude. They instantly put me at ease the moment I walked in and discussed my treatment plan to rectify the problem. WESTMOUNT dental have lost a customer who would have been investing quite a lot of money into any future treatments I would have had to have.

Fantastic experience: Fractured my tooth biting Lego just one time to part them (don’t ever bite Lego!) and it immediately resulted in a front tooth fracture. I’m pretty vain about my teeth so this was catastrophic and scary for me. I really feared I’d lose the tooth as part of it was hanging off. I had an appointment within 5 hours and was seen by Mr Quraishi who fixed it within 30 mins. He was sensitive to me being upset (relief came pouring out) and very reassuring. Great fix and now I don’t have to fear my family saying things like ‘Mind the gap’ to me over Easter. I’M SO GRATEFUL!!!

Fantastic experience: I've been for a fair few treatments so far as a part of my smile makeover, and i have lots more to go but i honestly cannot believe how wonderful its been so far. As someone who's not been to a dentist in 15 years and was extremely scared of them, i cant imagine going anywhere else now and i cant wait to complete my journey with them. Every single staff member ive met has been so kind and patient with me, my dentist, Ali, makes you feel so comfortable and not judged at all, and puts up with me being a bit of a wimp with the tools used in fillings. Don't get me wrong, im still nervous every time i go but everyone here makes you feel so welcomed and that you're going to be looked after. If i could rate them higher i would!

Fantastic experience: I am an extremely nervous patient but since coming to Westmount Dental I was made to feel so welcomed and at ease that my anxiety is pretty much gone now. I had my first filling in years where I wasn't shaking with fear. I can genuinely say this dentist has helped me to start getting over my fear of dentists. Positive experience: Dentist was courteous and did exactly as planned. I felt comfortable and was pleased with the outcome. However I was made to pay again for the appointment even though I explained I had already paid at the start of my treatment. I have had to dispute the second payment. Negative experience: Sorry but I feel I need to share this. I visited back in May 2023. I knew I needed treatment so was expecting it to cost me, as obviously no NHS patients being accepted. But thought as I'd used westmount previously I would give them a go. I got the quote for my treatment and I knew it would cost me, but what I wasn't expecting was a quote for over £1400 for 3 fillings!! I went elsewhere and received the same treatment a third of the cost!! Where they get their prices I have no idea. But I now know why it was looking very posh and more upmarket since last visiting. I'm sorry but if your paying shop around and let's hope the rest of the NHS does not follow into private hands !!!

Negative experience: Avoid like the plague!!! Zero stars. I went to Westmount for composite bonding on my 4 front top teeth, this was done by Dr. Jacob Mercer Jones. Throughout the treatment I was so uncomfortable, my breathing was being restricted by heavy handedness and air and water being squirted up my nose, my face was squashed through the treatment resulting in blisters under my lip, and a fear of the dentist that I had gotten over now back with a vengeance. The composite bonding was horrendous! My 'new smile' was uneven, still gappy, one tooth protruding forwards, flat unnatural finish, tool marks, just awful. I had the composite removed by Dr. Ali Quraishi leaving my teeth SO much narrower and shorter than when I went for the initial procedure. After complaining to the surgery and asking them to fix the problem they told me that they wouldn't be doing any more work on my teeth leaving me high and dry. I went to westmount looking to improve my smile and improve my confidence. This has left me with teeth so bad I didn't want to leave the house until I could get them fixed elsewhere and traumatised by the whole experience. Picture is of the composite bonding. The pictures of my teeth after removal of the bonding and half of my teeth with it are hard for me to look at so I won't share those. Thankfully there was light at the end of the tunnel, Dr Jamie Adamson at My Dentist, Oliver's house fixed my teeth and made my smile complete.

Fantastic experience: Arrived just before my appointment time and was greeted by friendly reception staff. Only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seen by the dentist who clearly explained the process and recommended treatment. Due to a cancellation I was booked in the following day with the dental hygienist and again I was greeted courteously by receptionists, dental assistant and hygienist. I was seen at my allotted time, really pleased with the service

Fantastic experience: I have been with WestMount for almost ten years since returning from working with HM Forces in Germany, first at their Silksworth Practice and then, when that closed some 5 or so years ago, at their Practice in the Barnes area of Sunderland. I am very happy with all aspects of the Dental service they provide from the communication through to the Dentist and Hygienist work and I would certainly not contemplate changing. Any work carried out has always been to a very high standard and the people at the Practice are always friendly and helpful. I can fully recommend WestMount Dental Practice.

Fantastic experience: I have completed my treatment for a front tooth inplant, which was carried out by Sheezan. Not only a gentleman but an absolute genius when it comes to teeth especially inplants. From the start to finish I was treat professionally and constantly updated on the progress of my treatment. The staff are all lovely and so genuine and respectful, always keeping in touch regarding treatment and appointments. Also, do all patients are asked the same Qs i.e , food, sweets, fizzy drinks, without having their teeth checked?'
