Positive experience: The dentists are lovely but the receptionist are not always friendly. I can never get through on the phone and it takes days and weeks to get through. Leaving a voice mail and send emails don't work either. The replies back are very very slow.

Negative experience: Avoid this place if you value your teeth (and your wallet)! Last November, I went to East Village Dentist in Stratford for a filling. I trusted them. Big mistake. Fast forward to this summer — I’m on holiday, my tooth cracks, I get a painful infection, and end up needing emergency treatment abroad. Now back in London, I’m told I need a root canal. The kicker? This should have been spotted and advised from the start. Instead, I got a quick fix that didn’t last — and now they want £55 just to “check it” and £800 to fix it. It honestly feels like they care more about keeping you coming back (and paying more) than actually fixing the problem the first time. You’ll leave with teeth treated in a way you never forget… and not in a good way. Save yourself the pain, the money, and the regret — go somewhere that actually cares about your long-term dental health.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Dr Joanna Selby highly enough. After neglecting my teeth for a few years, I was quite nervous about seeing a dentist again. A big part of my anxiety came from the lack of consistency at my old practice, dentists seemed to change constantly, and I just wanted someone I could trust and stick with. From my very first visit, Dr Selby exceeded my expectations. She took the time to sit down with me, talk through a clear treatment plan, and even show me images so I fully understood what was needed. Her calm, friendly manner immediately put me at ease. Over the past few months, I’ve had several treatments with her, and she is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. I feel so reassured by her skill and professionalism that I’ve now committed to Invisalign treatment, something I would never have considered before meeting her. If you’re looking for an outstanding dentist who genuinely cares and inspires confidence, Dr Selby is the one!

Fantastic experience: I really don’t like going to the hygienists and often freak out a bit. I explained this upfront to Nzinga and her colleague and they were really kind about it, coached me through, provided little breaks and were generally just amazing. The clean was great too. Will be coming here from now on.

Negative experience: I have had the worst service from this dentist and I am now looking for a different practise. My appointments keep getting cancelled repeatedly. I have been trying to rearrange by calling twice a day over the last week. I have sent two emails and left numerous voice mails. The emails and voice mails do not get answered and reception just ignore the phone. I have called at many different parts of the day. Very frustrating.

Fantastic experience: To be honest, I thought the visit was going to be a lot worse than it was. But the environment and location was quite relaxing, putting me at ease. I didn’t have to wait for long either, and the receptionist even helped me fill the form for the parts I didn’t understand. The dentist explained everything clearly to me, and the next step to be taken. The kind dentist also advised me to decrease my intake of sugary foods and drinks, which I am now applying to my health. I highly recommend this practice.

Negative experience: Out of hours service through the NHS 111 is not ideal for this dentist. As they rush the appointment not much explanation or advice is given. Please avoid out of hours service through NHS 111. They don’t check all sides of your mouth, when you’re in pain they will only check one side of the mouth. You have to call back NHS 111 for the other side.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service! Called 111 for dental pain on Sunday morning, had a call back within 30mins and offered an appointment the same morning. The dental team were all so lovely- the dentist Dr Phillip was friendly, reassuring and considerate, as was the dental nurse (apologies not sure of her name) and the receptionist was also so helpful. Amazing work for a Sunday morning - so grateful!

Negative experience: This is by far, the worst dental clinic I have ever seen in the UK. Dental appointments are constantly cancel in very short notice and the dentist and the receptionist act as if they’re the customer and you are service provider. It’s beyond me why people here kind is establishments are allowed to operate in the UK

Fantastic experience: A family member was traiged here during the bank holiday weekend via 111. The receptionist Danyelle had exceptional customer service. It was refreshing as expectional customer service is very rare these days. The out of hours dentist and dental nurse were equally as good. Great place to be sent to when needing an out of hours appointment. Keep up the good work!

Negative experience: I booked an appointment for a temporary crown two weeks in advance, but it was cancelled twice at very short notice because the dentist I had been seeing was sick. The second time, they called and rebooked me with a different dentist, without informing me that there would be an extra £55 fee—which they later called an emergency consultation. This makes no sense, as I had originally booked the appointment two weeks ago and it was not an emergency on my part. On top of that, the price for a temporary crown has increased from £80 to £120 in less than six months. In the end, I was charged £175 for just a 20-minute temporary crown appointment—with no other treatment or explanation. The pricing is unreasonable, and the level of service absolutely does not justify the cost.

Fantastic experience: Phill did a excellent job on my teeth I was soo depressed regarding my teeth but phill fixed it with 1 appointment iam so happy. Also latasha the reception was soo professional and polite will definitely recommend this place.

Negative experience: There is one lady at the desk who is very rude i had an appointment on Mother’s Day. As you know the roads would be busy , I arrived 8 mins late i explained there were temporary lights at the end of the road she told me to call 111 again and make them book another slot ( bare in mind I I’m in pain) I asked her can I just go in and see the doctor as no one is here she said no I said it’s Mother’s Day , to call 111 and be on the phone takes 15 mins she still wasn’t being genuine I don’t know if she was angry because she didn’t get the day off but cut it short I asked her can I speak to the manger she said she is the manger I said can I have proof she said she don’t have to show me proof now in this life there is customer service and the stuff she is doing is not nice , when I now said I don’t believe her I’m gonna make a complaint she then said she is not the manger all I’m gonna say is the headache I already have and being in pain and to

Fantastic experience: I’ve been visiting Dr Joanna Selby for the last 8 years. Dr Selby is without doubt the best dentist I’ve come across and I’m fortunate to have such great caring support locally. Negative experience: A Dentist from Hell!! Avoid This Dentist I have never left a bad review before, but my recent experience with this dental clinic was so awful that I feel compelled to share it. I was booked for an emergency appointment through emergency services in Stratford. The clinic itself was in a nice location, and the reception staff were friendly. I was seen within 15 minutes of my arrival by a dentist and a dental nurse. However, the experience quickly turned into a nightmare. The dentist struggled to take an X-ray, forcing the equipment in a way that caused oral trauma and mild bleeding. When the X-ray finally appeared, it was incomplete. Instead of acknowledging the issue, both the dentist and the nurse blamed me, insisting that I hadn’t held it correctly. As a result, they couldn’t properly see what was happening around the root of my tooth. I suggested taking another X-ray, but they refused. Instead, they simply asked about my symptoms, which included severe pain in my crown. The dentist prescribed me an antibiotic, the same one I had already taken twice before with no effect. When I asked if I could try a different one, she dismissed the idea, saying that they only had two options, and I had already taken both. She then handed me another course of the same antibiotic, just in case, and told me they don’t prescribe painkillers—advising me to take paracetamol or ibuprofen. These painkillers hadn’t worked for me, which is why I was there in the first place. To make matters worse, I was asked an extremely personal and inappropriate question that I won’t even mention here. Frustrated and still in extreme pain, I had to call emergency services again to get another appointment on the same day. When I saw a different dentist, they were shocked by the incomplete X-ray taken earlier—it didn’t even capture the root of my tooth properly. This was an appalling experience. Not only was I left with unresolved pain, but I also suffered oral trauma and bleeding on top of my existing symptoms. I strongly advise avoiding this clinic.

Fantastic experience: For past 7 years I’ve been Dr.Gayatri Pattar patient. She is very professional, friendly and nice person . I had very painful and extensive surgery today, however thanks to Dr. Gayatri Pattar I felt reassured, safe and comfortable as much as you possibly could during this difficult treatment. She is always going beyond my expectations. I’m very nervous, difficult and anxious patient so believe she is the right person for you if you are like me.

Negative experience: Thought I would try this practice for a hygiene appointment as it’s close to my work and left feeling disappointed. Only after I left did I check the time and realised that the cleaning only lasted 15 minutes when it should have been 30. I explicitly asked the receptionist when I booked if it was for 30 minutes too. Not impressed… especially as it’s £80 - it was quite painful at times and very rushed. Never experienced a hygiene appointment like that before. Won’t be returning.

Negative experience: Highly unprofessional dentist The receptionist was informed on the email also that i had wanted to have a consultation about dental implants.. The rude and unprofessional dentist had wanted to get money in his pocket and began examining teeth for filling for the next appointment and later on referred me to some implantologist.. I had clearly mentioned the purpose of my visit.

Negative experience: The crown they fitted broken within a few months, they tried to charge me for fixing it and the reception staff won’t allow you to use their WiFi.

Fantastic experience: I do apologise as I forgot the dentist name that worked with a nurse which I think was named Diane. Nonetheless they were working on 26th Jan at 3pm. Nonetheless, I came for an emergency appointment as I had a really bad toothache. I was immediately taken to the dentist room and both the dentist and nurse did a fantastic job. They sat me down and asked me to discuss the issue. They then took an x-ray immediately and gave their initial diagnosis with advice on how to proceed. We then moved on with the procedure to initially solve the problem. The dentist and nurse were both fantastic, they were friendly and gave great advice. It was easy to tell that the dentist and nurse had a great working relationship, which eased my seriously painful situation. Thank you for your help today I really appreciate it!

Negative experience: Went there this morning with my 7year old son as his gum has been hurting and don’t have a dentist at the moment was told to attend here by 111;NHS and I got there 9mins late and the man walked to the door to tell me I cannot be seen even though my son is in serious pain , really bad service

Negative experience: One of the worst Dental practice I have ever visited in my whole life. I seriously have a doubts if the doctor is really a dentist or a student . It’s a shame on NHS, I booked an emergency appointment through 111 and I have mentioned multiple times that I’m pregnant and the doctor put my chair extremely Lower like my head and upper body was hanging below as if I’m going to touch the ground like an arch bow,just because only then she can see my left upper jaw last teeth , she kept on saying that it’s too hard for her to acces and see, I kept on repeating that all the dentist so far has done it and it’s not even in a in a difficult place. Thank god I started to make noise and hold the hand rest for support. Also the appointment was so rushed and the dentist don’t know what she was doing. I was in pain and all she did was floss and send me off, I was the one who gave her more information saying that x ray can’t be done . It’s total waste of time , where she kept on saying that visit your normal doctor on Monday . I visited in 11th January 10:30am . Seriously this doctor needs training before she tries to look after patients and I’m still in shock that you have dentist like this in Stratford.

Negative experience: Extremely terrible dentist practice, especially Dr Nimot and her nurse Joan as they have not shown compassion to their patients as I was in pain as Dr Nimot has shown physical pain toward me and was verbally abusing too.

Fantastic experience: Nzinga is amazing. THE BEST Dentist I’ve ever had. I’ve had some bad experiences with dentists in the past, which made me reluctant to go back to this practice but I decided to change to Nzinga for my latest appointment and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I didn’t know a dentist appointment could be done with so much care! I felt welcomed, she had great communication and she did a great job with my teeth, they’re super clean :D she was very thorough, but gentle. Which is so rare to experience. She set a new standard for me with dentists! In future I will not accept anything less than how she treated me and I will definitely be back. I never thought I’d be compelled to write such a positive review for a hygiene appointment haha … but it is fully deserved. Thank you again!

Fantastic experience: Neel did a filling on one of my back tooth followed by a hygiene teeth cleaning. He always made sure that I was ok, explained to me what was happening and kept me informed on what part of the teeth he was working on. The process was not painful at all. Based on my experience, I would recommend Neel to anyone.

Negative experience: I have been waiting to be seen since 2020. I had an initial appointment with EAST VILLAGE DENTAL then they cancelled my appointment because of covid. Then I contacted them numerous times when I could book an appointment to which I have been told that I am not registered with them yet and they are not taking new patients. I have emailed them to be put on waiting list and that was back in 2020. Now 2023 and I am still not registered. The reception won't even pick up the phone and I just found out that numerous new patients had been registered but because they came for private appointment they have been prioritised. I am now in the process of writing to bda as their service is disgrace.

Positive experience: TL;DR - East Village Dental needs to be fully transparent about what treatment I will be receiving *exactly* and whether this is under NHS or private. And do not try and reschedule patients hours before an appointment if the excuse is not legitimate enough, especially after having been already rescheduled by EV Dental. I have been with East Village Dental, Stratford for seven years, but from the start it was incredibly positive with a former dentist being genuine and transparent about my dental hygiene and what I needed to do next. However after the pandemic the quality of service has not continued. With the recent dentist, while I have received the appropriate dental treatment and advice, there has been a lack of transparency in the pricing and the limits of NHS care and the increased costs of private treatment. While I am fortunate to have dental insurance, I was informed late by my dentist that “oral hygiene clean up” was in fact a scale and polish, and this was outside of scope of NHS charges - this means I have had to pay unexpected charges in excess of what I am entitled to recover via insurance (and private treatment at this practice increases more than NHS charges does every year!). Having also been told by the same dentist that while I could receive the same clean up under NHS, it would be low quality - this two-tiered approach to dental treatment is now bordering on ridiculous. Not everyone has high-paying jobs or dental insurance to look after their teeth and pay extraordinary prices, and transparency makes quite the difference to consider whether to proceed with the treatment after looking into one’s finances. Customer service-wise, it has not been good enough - my recent specialist appointment which had been initially rescheduled in approximately two weeks due to dentist unavailability was going to be rescheduled again - this happened approximately 2-3 hours before my appointment on the day over phone, and with the same excuse of dentist unavailability I was not impressed and insisted that this cannot be rescheduled and complained about the negative service I was receiving.

Negative experience: Extremely rushed service, my routine checkup lasted 5 mins, if that.The scale and polish was very thorough, but the dentist took no time to offer any advice or talk me through anything. Patient manner was abysmal if I'm honest. It just felt like they wanted to take my money and push me out of the door. I tried another surgery close by and the dentist was extremely helpful. She took the time to tell me I had early gum disease and advised me to use interdental floss and how best to keep it at bay. She really talked me through it in the most helpful way. I would never have known had I continued coming to East Village. The difference was night and day and I have now changed surgeries.

Fantastic experience: The first impression I got from the surgery is the friendly atmosphere. I am very happy with the care and support that I received. The dentist made me feel comfortable and ensured that my first time extraction of my teeth went well. I was surprised how quick all done within few minutes. Thank to all stuffs at the surgery. Positive experience: I booked an appointment with Dr. Neel Shah as he was recommended by others. He was a great dentist as he explained the process before performing the procedures. The environment was comfortable and helped to ease any anxiety I had.

Negative experience: I did not like my experience at the clinic at all! I felt really rushed (appointment last 10min) and that all they wanted was my money. Got charged for literally everything without even asked when price list in their website are different. Even paid for them to give me a prescription plus the prescription price at pharmacy. First time this ever happened to me as every time I went to the dentist and needed antibiotics with prescription they gave it to me and never charged me for it as included in the price that you already pay for the consultation. Felt unwelcome and not well looked after at all, 5 min and you are out already paying a huge amount of fees for things you didn’t know with a very rude receptionist. Will never come back very disappointed as I had high expectations with them.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Fiez is a really great dentist - was recommended them by a friend and they have provided a great service and really informative on the work that I was having done. I had an implant put in, and was quite nervous about it, but Dr. Fiez was incredibly reassuring, went through the procedure in detail and saw me multiple times afterwards to check I was happy with the results.

Fantastic experience: A really clean, bright modern surgery to visit. All of the reception staff are all very friendly and helpful. Dentist Joanna Selby is incredible. She is very patient, professional and does superb dental work. I feel very grateful to be able to be on the books there.

Negative experience: I came in for a check. Paid £75 for x-ray and “check up”. The entire process lasted less than 1 minute. The dentist (I’ve forgotten his name) asked me to open my mouth and move my tongue left and right. Apparently this was enough for him. And alas within mere seconds I was told there was nothing wrong with my dental health and that I was good to go and advised that I keep brushing and flossing. I was a bit skeptical as to how he could determine this just by looking into my mouth for a few seconds. Fast forward 2 weeks and I’m visiting a friend out of town who is also a dentist and I tell him about this experience and he offers to check me out himself. Turns out I have SIGNIFICANT gum disease. Which the dentist at this institution just failed to mention and told me I was all good and healthy and can get going.

Negative experience: Advertised that they are open on Saturdays, but the dentist is either not working or the dentist has not nurses. Unable to get an appointment on a Saturday for which they even took my deposit. They told they'll get back to me when they have a Saturday slot open, haven't heard anything from them. Tried calling them, no answer. Lost my deposit. Horrendous experience.

Negative experience: It’s next to impossible to book an appointment over the phone. I’ve been calling them for 2 weeks on different days at different times and no one ever picks up the phone. I’ve given up and booked somewhere else. It’s a shame because I used to be a patient here and had a few appointments before (although I had to book those in person, too). Why don’t you make it possible to book an appointment online if you can’t take calls?

Fantastic experience: Used this dentist for tooth removal. Very good at what they do, staff are friendly and helpful. Chantelle and Georgia were very friendly and helpful when doing the procedure and made all the risks etc clear and did the job very easily and made for a pleasant experience. Don’t use the postcode as takes you to the a13 and the shop is deep in the corner of the market so sometimes hard to find but the place is good and you’re in good hands. Defo will recommend to others!

She is 9 and has ASD so in anxious of new experiences, but Dr Neel took the time to explain to her what was going to happen and had patience when doing 3 fillings that required anesthetic. Highly recommended

Negative experience: Some people who work in this place are a tad unprofessional. I joined as a patient back in 2016. Back then I had a dentist who was just great! After two/three years this dentist left and I got a new one. He didn't last long and I was allocated yet another dentist, who only works there three times per week. Since I got this new dentist, things weren't great and I think my friendliness was mistaken for something else. Overall, I was cancelled appointments four times. It was hard to get appointments rescheduled timely. Once I was cancelled a 9:20am appointment at 9am. Today I was cancelled the appointment at the clinic, when I was already inside the room, sitting on the chair as the dentist assistant was visibly ill. I was told by the dentist, the assistant felt she had to come to work as it was her last day. I got the apologies, but being cancelled at the very clinic after way too many cancellations was the last straw for me. Moreover, I don't need to know why someone who is ill feels as though they have to go into work, I wasn't there as a friend, I was there as a paying patient who just wanted work to be done. I am looking for a new clinic. Avoid this place!

Positive experience: Gayatri is a dedicated and determined dentist no matter how difficult the situation. The surgery is very clean and modern & the staff are friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience with Dr. Gayatri Pattar at East Village Dental Stratford. Been coming to Gayatri for about 2 years and had a great experience. Check ups and hygienist appointments always friendly and thorough. Also had an incredible experience with Invisalign and Dr Gayatri. made the experience simple, pain free and achieved wonderful results. Fantastic experience: Always feel in trusted hands when I visit, and especially with Dr Neel Shah and Sofia. I recently had a filling and hygiene appointment which was efficient and caring. They made sure I was seen soon because I'm 8 months pregnant. Neel is always generous with his advice and time, he talks through clearly what he's doing and why which I appreciate. He also works to a high standard, I sense a perfectionist but he always puts people first. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Have been there for regular check up for 3 years but didn’t tell me the problem until they became serious. Going through massive pains because of delayed treatments. Also separately requested a wisdom tooth removal one year ago and still not happening

Fantastic experience: I’ve been with East Village Dental for a while, and have been seeing Dr Neel Shah for a few years. He’s always incredibly professional and thorough. He explains procedures clearly and does a great job. He and his Dental Nurse, Sofia, are a great team. I can’t say I LOVE going to the dentist, but it’s reassuring to know I’m in safe hands with them.

Fantastic experience: OUTSTANDING TREATMENT & SERVICE East Village Dental is literally the best dental office that I have worked with in London! Receiving regular treatment from Dr. Joanna Selby has been a wonderful experience all around. She is warm, focused, calm, gentle and reassuringly experienced. Negative experience: My experience at this Dental Practice wasn’t quite as good as the reviews tend to claim for this page. I had one tooth scan plus consultation, which cost around 80£ for a 5-minute check, but let's pretend this is okay regarding services.(in total 145 for the hygiene cleaning).Then I asked for a hygienic cleaning, which lasted about five-ish minutes, absolutely abstracting the whole procedure as it was supposed to be done. The doctor barely explained what she was doing, and no patient for the sick of the procedure. Worth noticing that the protective glasses put on my eyes were dripping water, I just hoped they doing the deep cleaning of the other equipment. Overall making money building, advertising on the wall reviews from Google. If you care about your tooth skip this Practice.

Positive experience: After a horrible accident to my back tooth during dinner while visiting a friend, I was recommended to use this practice by the NHS. They accepted my appointment. Reception wasn’t as warm as I’d expect a new patient to receive, but at least they let me into the building. The doctor who attended me gave me temporary remedy and got me out of the door quite fast. There was no explanation of why my tooth broken or suggestion how to avoid further damage. I guess I should be thankful she accepted me in her office. The visit left me feeling meh. But there are other things to worry about I guess. Maybe they have had bad experiences with people recommended by the NHS? Anyway, I’ve learned a lesson today.

Fantastic experience: I have had a number of treatments at this practice by Dr Neel Shah and each time my expectations have been surpassed. He is highly skilled and professional. This is a great practice throughout and I highly recommend it.

Negative experience: The above practice is a discrase to the dental profession. As NHS patient waiting time for appointment can be 6-10 months depending on availability, reason why I opt for private appointment. All of my appointment are for hygiene and cleaning issues that cost £180 for 6 minutes session. The front staff are very ignorant and unhelpful and rude. A simple thing hygiene and cleaning service that they can not provide. Request to change my dentist has to be put in writing waiting on practice manager to agree, complaints take 2 weeks to respond to, referral to a specialist over a year and not heard anything. Fantastic experience: Made the appointment on Thursday afternoon, was seen Friday by midday, with a return visit on Saturday morning for a major filling. Staff were friendly and professional as always. Can't really ask for any more! The dentist made also it really clear that I should get in touch at any time if I have any problems with the work and that the team are there to help. Which is a real comfort if you're having anything major done!

Fantastic experience: I had never been to East Village Dental before however, attended on recommendation from a friend for private treatment with a specific dentist for my Invisalign. Dr Gayatri Pattar was fantastic from the get go. She explained the treatment thoroughly and designed a treatment tailored to my needs, as well as aesthetic goals. I attended the regular check ups and each time was looked after like a king. I couldn’t recommend her more!!! Fantastic experience: Dr Pattar was excellent and I cannot recommend her enough. From the very beginning she gave me expert knowledge and tried to make sure that the dental work I wanted was done in a way that would be cost-effective for me and work best for my teeth. I had a bonded retainer, whitening and then finally composite bonding to close a small gap between my 2 front teeth and she has been patient with me as I've ummed and ahhed about whether to go ahead and then squeezed me into her schedule so I can get it done before I get married, which I really appreciate. I am so happy with my teeth now - they look wedding-ready! Thank you so much Dr Pattar! :)

Fantastic experience: Consistently excellent. Dr Fiez is always incredibly professional and personable, as are all the staff at the practice. I recently underwent treatment needing a crown to be fitted. The options were explained well and the whole process was really smooth and easy! Definitely recommend this practice!
